Visited relatives and hoped in knowing the chain from California. Wow, talk about systematic convenience as it's the same turn key layout, approximate size and great offerings as California minus some soil produced items more available on the west coast. Didn't look for sushi to compare I forgot! lol . They had a few dessert items discontinued on the west coast however and I purchased some fresh squeezed juice to go with it. I haven't been in this Trader Joe's per se and I did enjoy it much larger a great selection even the liquor store area which the one in Hartsdale does not have plenty of parking and all my favorite products. The staff on the floor was quite nice and helpful so I appreciate it and the location is quite convenient so I will make another trip someday read more

It's not the biggest trader Joe's around and the small parking lot is always packed but overall , I like coming to this smaller location in Scarsdale as it has everything you need A TO Z IN FOOD PRODUCTS and prices are very reasonable . The many aisles are well stocked and products are easy to find , staff are nice and helpful and checkout is a snap . It's hard to visit and just pick up a few goodies , not in my experiences, too many good healthy and tasty products are waiting including the organic chicken soap , waffles , frozen veggie pizza , french baugette, mixed nuts snack and I better stop now or this review will never end . During Covid-19 Trader Joe's of Scarsdale has done an exceptional job of enforcing order, cleanliness, plentiful food supplies along with the friendly customer 'service-with-a-smile' that TJ's is famous for. Best to go early (8:00am for elderly 60+) or at 9:00am when they're open to the general public. In the early Spring of March-April 2020, during scary peak Covid times the lines were outdoors all around the perimeter of the entire parking lot! Now that things have finally calmed down, the line is shorter, or practically non-existent with a minimal wait time, thankfully. Thank you, Trader Joe's of Scarsdale for always being fully stocked, customer friendly, with lines moving quickly, and a great place to shop with the best prices! I love Trader Joe's and all the locations I've been to. This one location in particular it's the closest to me so I've been here probably 4, 5 times and the staff is always friendly, polite, helpful. This store is much smaller than many others but they have it always well organized. During COVID-19, they have really enforced social distancing, cleaning, sanitizing. Shopping at this Trader Joe's location is relatively stress free compared to other locations in the area, which are pretty crowded most all the time. It's not that this particular location is super spacious. In fact, compared to most middle America locations I've visited previously, the store footprint here is much smaller. I actually think it's the small parking lot that keeps things more sane here... which leads me to to the only issue you'll likely encounter when heading out to the TJ's location--the parking lot is tiny! In fact, there is a shopping center a half a block away, and I generally park there and walk over. On a recent visit, I was super impressed by the way this Trader Joe's has handled shopping during covid. There was a line, but it moved rather quickly. Push carts and hand carts were quickly and thoroughly sanitized as shoppers returned them post shopping. And, most importantly, all the shelves were fully stocked! I want to send a final shout out to the staff at this location of TJ's--they are super friendly, and they truly are always on top of things! Kudos to you and the management! This has been our usual go to Trader Joe's but as of recently some of their employees have been extremely rude in the morning. They were sending us to multiple registers when they were all clearly open and not busy. An employee named Veronica was extremely rude and told us to again go to another register. When we told her we would wait, Veronica asked who sent us. What does that matter? Veronica and the man we bagged for us, looked at each other and began to laugh thinking we wouldn't see their reaction. We're not sure if it was because my brother was a gay man or if it was because we were of color but this kind of customer service from Veronica is completely unacceptable. read more

Translation; usually you're waiting on a line -the positive: it goes quickly - just because TJ's is Organized and efficient about keeping the customers moving and flowing from emptying your cart to scanning to bagging and paying! It's very streamlined. The prices are reasonable MUCH more reasonable than that other place, you know, Whole Paycheck... Its my wife's favorite Grocery store. It's a Trader Joe's so rating it is rating the experience compared to other Trader Joes. Like many Trader Joes the parking lot is a nightmare. This one isn't worse or better then others but it's no picnic. The only bonus is if you park on the side street across from the school field and don't mind walking if you have only a bag or two. The people that work here must go through a training program of rudeness. I have been in the some of the busiest Trader Joes around the city including ones where there is a line just to get into the place. But for whatever reason the people that work in this one are exceptionally condescending and if that's if they even acknowledge your existence to begin with. Management is just as guiltily so if you have a Karen moment and ask to see the manager expect the same tone if not worse. I am generalizing the employees because I have encountered an occasion friendly and helpful worker but I assume they just transferred from another store so it's only a matter of time before they understand it's rude all day everyday regardless of situation. In all fairness as I have said in other reviews. The general public and individuals that live in this area are horrible and atrocious people. All the money in the world has yet to buy them an ounce of courtesy or class. So I guess you give what you get. Rudeness. So if you are the rare exception in this area of chill and nice expect to say "wtf" a bunch of times. Between the other customers and employees you will look like a bobble head shaking your own head in disbelief of rudeness and ignorant obliviousness. So I came here following the tiktok bday freebie trend and was disappointed to find out out that this wasn't the case. I was told that you in fact do not get Flowers for your birthday but sometimes if they think someone is having a "bad day" or something they might give it to them. Love this store, have great deals on a number of items and have usually pretty good quality. Like the greens and the selection of dried nuts and cranberries. Few family favs include cheeses like unexpected cheddar, and feta, frozen items such as Japanese rice and roasted corn, edamame and gyoza, vegetable and chicken is delish and ready in minutes! Definitely nice place to plan and party and make charcuterie trays or a large feast, compete with protein and several courses:) Even the dog likes their doggie treats and they always have seasonal selections. read more

Glad this particular Trader Joe's enforces social distancing outside prior to store entry. An employee disinfects each successive shopping cart who awaits the next customer. Regardless of the above, I personally felt that the store was too crowded. As, for example, choosing yogurts, as soon as I moved from the refrigerated case, there was a customer practically on my feet! No spaciousness found What would prevent customers from scurrying around would be elevated BOLD signage to mark what isle each contains. Unfortunately, not being a regular customer anymore, I had to backtrack a few times til I completed the shopping list. Because the cash registers are closely situated AND edged with plexiglass, they make the customer wait against the wall socially distanced until your order is packed ready for the transaction. If you've been shopping at TJs over 15 years as I have, you probably have realized the quality of many products has changed. Some items just aren't the same. But hey, so goes life. The problem I have with this location is their freaking parking lot. One time a moronic father (with his little kid standing up in the backseat) reversed his SUV right into us so that he could get a parking space. The other times the lot is so full I just give up and cross in the bank lot across the street, which probably you aren't even allowed to do. There is no other TJs truly close by. Now even though there has been a quality decline, I still love my TJs trip as much as the next person. It's pretty cheap, popular and they generously pump you up with free coffee, but the lot is just too damn crowded. All the mad looking ladies in their SUVs prefer to try to run me over while crossing the street rather than let me safely cross. Even with a toddler in my arms. The look on their faces behind the wheel -- whoa. And why do they all look so angry? You're going to TJs, for God's sake. Any day above ground is a good one for me. Put a smile on your face ladies. It's TJs. Stop for your fellow human beings trying to cross a street to buy their groceries. So yeah after the latest Escalade almost ran me down, I don't go here anymore. You either get someone super helpful or someone with ZERO personality, or someone that disappears to look for information on something you requested and disappears then when you see them they look like a deer in the damn headlights and forget who you even are. August 2023. Last week my sister was asked by a manager named Samantha to come for an interview at Trader Joe's in Scarsdale, NY. The interview time was 12:00. My sister arrived for the interview only to find out that Samantha was on vacation. My sister then talked to an acting manager & his tone was unprofessional. He told her that her name was not on the list. What list? This is totally uncalled for and a pure waist of time. I fill out an application as well but I'm no longer interested bc this was distasteful, rude, unnecessary & unprofessional to say the least. Poor management can bring a business down. read more

I never understand why people who don't like people, take jobs working with people : ) Ever other visit I'm dealing with an unhappy employee. A few visits visits ago, i asked the cashier where something was because i didn't see. He says "we're probably out". Probably as in you're not going to have someone check?? Therefore, I quickly ran through 2 aisles searching for it, as he continued to ring up my order and showed no interest in helping locate the item. Today, i asked where an item was- the associate did not open her mouth, did not make eye contact - walked to the item, held her hand out to me with the item and walked away. I have been a fan of Trader Joes for years. I have shopped mostly at the TJ's within the five boroughs of NYC where the lines to check out often seem endless. However, I have never witnessed lines like that at this location. But the parking lot can get a bit out of hand at times and there is often a line just to enter the lot. Then once you enter the lot you can often also expect to wait for a parking space to become available as well. Once you enter the store the décor is typical of what's seen in most other Trader Joe's. This location is typically busy but I have never seen the activity in this store reach the chaotic levels of the stores within the five boroughs. The staff is friendly and often helpful. There are always lines but they move pretty quickly. This location is also kid friendly because it's the first TJs that I noticed to have child size shopping carts for kids shopping with their parents. My only issue is that some of the produce is surprisingly not fresh at times which I have never seen at a TJs before. I make sure at this location that I inspect any produce closely before I buy it. read more

I'm a fan of Trader Joe's - it makes me feel healthy when I shop here and, unlike Whole Foods, the prices are pretty reasonable (don't hate me Whole Foods, I still love you =) TJ's puts their name on everything, there are very few brand names the store carries; if I had to make an educated guess, their products are probably brands in disguise with TJ's and the company reaching an agreement to put their name on the product. Some of my favorite things to pick up are their goat's milk cheese slices and their cookie butter - not exactly healthy but unique and tasty mmmmmm. They also have a good selection of organic snacks - I usually end up getting one or two bags of something =P While I like TJ's, I really can't get heavy duty food shopping done at their stores. I like TJ's a lot, but for me it's more a store to browse and pick up a few things vs a place to go for your weekly groceries. A good example of what I'm talking about is when I visited shortly after Thanksgiving; I was looking for turkey gravy and was told that it's only a seasonal item (womp womp). This particular location in Scarsdale isn't my favorite - the parking lot is annoying and the layout of the store is weird, hence the 3; I prefer going to the one in Mamaroneck, it's brighter and more open. Nevertheless, whichever TJ's you go to you're bound to find something and get a good deal. read more

I was waiting by the register to pay for my groceries. I was standing directly behind the plastic partition when I heard a loud person say, "stand six feet away." I replied my friend is with me." He says, "no, i mean from the cashier, I want her to be safe." I was confused because I was paying for my groceries behind a partition. It turns out he was the manager. This trader joes is not exactly closer than the one in UWS, but it has a few advantages: Real parking lot, lines that don't snake the entire length of the place and same great selection that you expect from TJ. On weekends - the parking lot gets pretty crowded, but there are 3 alternatives less than a block away (mall/school/bank). This is a lot better than driving around in manhattan looking for parking. Great prices and quality selection, that's all I need in a supermarket. read more

My favorite grocery store. Lots of organic products and cheaper than Whole Foods! One star off for two things: one, they often run out of stock, especially on the weekends. If you go on a Sunday evening, the shelves will be almost bare. Second, they have the bad habit of making you fall in love with products and then discontinuing them. I like this location a lot. The store is always well stocked and it's a spacious store. The problem is the parking lot is way too small, to the point that I find it stressful to go there, especially on a weekend. There's no room either to expand the lot, so nothing is going to change. if you go, try to go on a weekday. Even then there may not be an available spot when you get there. Another thing I notice about the store is that while the employees are very nice, and try to be helpful, they often are not familiar with their own product line. One time I asked a worker where the coffee was. She told me that they didn't carry coffee. Fortunately, another worker overheard this, and pointed me in the right direction. Another time I was having trouble finding the sour dough bread. I asked an employee who was stocking the bread section. He didn't seem to know if they even carried it, so of course he didn't know where it was. We both scoured the shelves looking for it until I finally found it. I just assumed since he was stocking the section he would have been more familiar with his product line. Other than those issues, it's a good store read more

A big fan of Trader Joe's (all products, store setup, and customer services) but am very disappointed by this location. Nothing's wrong with the location other than the usual cramped parking lot, lots of people shopping, and long lines. I guess that I am quite used to already. Can't really complain and am not complaining about it. It is what it is. We got what we need in the store and it is very well stocked. We were in line for 30 mins... remember, this is a Westchester location, not 14th Street Union Square location. How the heck did we wait for so long to check out? Because - there's no flow control! Aha! How important is flow control! I never really understand this until today. Our line didn't move while the lines next to us went by so quickly! The customer in front of us was SUPER needy and the cashier just couldn't handle her. I can't waste my bandwidth to tell you how needy she was but imagine she wants her $170 worth of groceries placed in different types of bags as the cashier was checking out for us. Then she paid cash... Now finally it was my turn to check out. Everyone behind this lady was upset. We couldn't hide how exhausted we were for waiting in line for 30 min as we were 3rd in line when we started out. The cashier - while tried very hard to please the needy lady in front of us became inpatient. We understand she probably was frustrated too. She checked our stuff in the speed of light, stuffed them all in a bag and hushed us out. When we got home. The giant box of lovely looking, juicy, and healthy blueberries I picked out was crushed and came out of its container. Bruised and damaged. Same happened to my two boxes raspberries. Oh! Did I say I bought eggs?! They were okay and weren't broken. But if you were a Trader Joe's regular you won't be happy the way the eggs were placed. I love TJ's in general, and the staff here is great, but the parking is a nightmare. I seriously think they need someone out there at busy times to direct traffic. A couple of times I've come here, seen cars bunched up trying to get into the parking lot, and given up -- drove 10-15 minutes to get to the TJ's on Central Park Avenue in Hartsdale, where parking is ample. So the moral of the story is to only shop here first thing int he morning -- or take your chances. read more
