First time to this store and reminded me on a mini gourmet store. They have various brands not found in say Foodtown and nice to have different selection. Shopped here 4 times and the service has been good, I find the prices pretty competitive and really like the Little Big Meal deal but the produce and cheese are just not that fresh. Also just bought tortilla chips that were stale and the prepared foods have been disappointing (focaccia bread not tasty, apple pie very gummy and crabcake just meh) Wish it were truly Fresh as the store is nice but they don't really live up to the name read more

After being a customer since time of opening, nothing I can say has changed for the negative at The Fresh Market. All stores will have recalls here and there. It's to be expected. I've never had a negative experience. The store is clean and cheerful making me stay there longer, but more than anticipated, but come out as a satisfied customer as always NOT of their fault, but the dairy selection hasn't been replenished(Corona virus outbreak as we know!)and I ended up buying a type/% that I never consume. There was only 4 containers left. As for the social distancing, I viewed that it should be more enforced INSIDE the store. The cashier line is adjacent to the oils/salad dressing area and it wraps around elsewhere. Too many people were confused and/or cramming. The workers at the meat and fish section need to be trained better in customer service. They ignore people waiting and have a rude attitude. Don't have a butcher section if the people working don't want to cut the meat or give advice on meat preparation. Place is overpriced as well. read more

Love this gourmet grocery store!! It reminds me of home in Greensboro, NC. From the moment I walk in to the moment I leave; it just makes me feel all good inside. Now for the non sentimental stuff: The short of it is that The Fresh Market simply rocks! Here are a few highlights: 1) Start with the coffee samples; they really do have some some amazing brews... then hit up the awesome produce--it's all fresh and merchandised in a manner that makes you want to buy everything! 2) Next up, try the meat market; it's all super fresh, and there's always a good sale! Just this weekend, they had a fantastic BOGO special of 2-for-1 ground chuck. Oh, and be sure to try their homemade sausage! Nom!! 3) The fresh foods they feature in the deli are always a hit as well. I like their loaded baked potatoes especially, but everything they have is good! 4) Last but not least for me are the gourmet dry food aisles. They really do carry some super unique things ranging from Muffaletta bruschetta made in Louisiana to specialty Pestos from Italy! Their selections are a bit overwhelming... but in a good way! In today's age there are many choices for people to go for their grocery shopping. While there is always the tried and true supermarket, newer grocery stores that offer healthier options and a larger fresh variety have sprung up. The Fresh Market is one of these new options - however, competition is fierce and at the end of the day I don't think the Fresh Market lives up to it's facade. As far as aesthetics goes, the store is top-drawer; the layout is clear and there are a lot of display cases; everything pops out at you and is within easy reach. They have a good variety of produce, baked goods, sandwiches, and salads - plus "healthier" brands of regular/frozen grocery items. The main issue I have with Fresh Market is that I've bought multiple items from them and the food fails to live up to my expectations. I bought a good variety of items from the store throughout my visits, including "gourmet" meats, crab cakes, baked goods, and wraps. While everything looks good, I find the food to be consistently underwhelming. If I'm going to pay top dollar for what should be gourmet food, I want top quality. Overall, if you're looking to shop in a high quality/gourmet/organic supermarket, I would skip Fresh Market and try Fairway, Trader Joe's or Whole Foods. The store may look pristine but what it offers leaves something to be desired. read more

Sad to say that their fruit and vegetables are sub par. Their weekly specials are good but a lot in the produce dept. is spoiling and/or rotten. I purchased organic cauliflower and apples this week and the cauliflower had lots of brown spots when unwrapped at home, and the apples were rotten through and through. Four apples, same problem. They were fine on the outside. Not the first time. Will not be a Fresh Market customer. read more

Great alternative when the line to get into Trader Joe's next door is really long. Their selection is limited and generally very expensive but few items are worth it as the quality is great such as dairy from local farms and fresh sushi. Very quick to get in and get out, great to buy small quantities, just want is needed for that meal. Sometimes great deals on artisanal vinegar, and great oils such as pistachio to make amazing dressings n marinades. read more

They always have the best beef and poultry. Haven't had a tough bite and I've shopped there for years. Workers are friendly and helpful.

The produce is nicely arranged and good quality. Their bakery is really good--great cookies and breakfast pastries (croissants, croissant muffin. I wish they would make the croissant flowers again...) The cakes are good, too, but sometimes it takes a while for a bakery person to get it for you (from behind the glass). The sushi chef is great. The rolls are so well made, with one grain of rice width around the fish-- very neat and not padded with rice. If you don't see what you want out, he can make it for you. It's definitely the best supermarket sushi around and is on par with restaurant sushi. Most of the workers are friendly except for a few cashiers. And it is pricey. Two bags of groceries easily can cost over $100, where two bags at Trader Joe's will be half as much. read more

I once bought potatoes at this grocery store and they didn't taste good, so I always made sure to buy them somewhere else. Couple of days ago I thought I would give it a try again and that was a huge mistake. After they were boiled they turn grey and had lots of black spots on them. It was bowl & basket russet potatoes. I stop in here from time to time. The people that make the food for the deli know what they are doing. Same with the bakery. The prepared food is excellent. Nice gourmet store. The people who serve it to you don't want to be there. They seem angry, listless, off hand and not knowledgeable about the product. Or it takes too long to make a sandwich. It's 12 noon. No one at the counter, that's a red flag right there and it takes 10 minutes? I used to work at a high end gourmet market. At opening, everything should be ready in the deli in the case. When the curtain goes up, the show starts. I should not see cases empty at 10:45 and this ingredient not available Yet for a sandwich. It should all be ready. People come in early to by a lunch for later. Don't think just because it's 9 am all people come for is breakfast and baked goods. It's not a restaurant. Start prepping earlier so that when you open, you are ready to go. Hire those ladies that lost their job at cold water creek. There is one at the register who is very nice. Pick off some good ones from whole foods with a competitive offer. Your help is surly, talk under their breath, act clueless or amble slowly like molasses in January mumble, and do not know their product. Your sushi man is nice, friendly and asked if I had questions. Very good. Find more like him. Your place is beautiful and good is delicious and high quality. Get help that match the image you seek. Good location, very good cakes/bakery, good deli prepared foods, high prices. I like that you can find some different stuff than the average supermarkets in the area. The deli has some good salads, sandwiches, etc. Only real drawback is definitely high priced compared to the competition. read more

This place is located across the street from Trader Joe's. They have a lot of harder to find items and some very good products. The store is run well and it is always well maintained. They also have a deli section with prepared food. The best thing about this place is that it is very crowded, the lines are quick. The only negative can be the parking because it's a one way lot, but usually it's not a big problem. read more

This place used to be GREAT but all the friendly and helpful employees have now left and all the rude and uncaring employees stayed. Customer service at this place is going down the drain so fast that if something doesn't change this place will be out of business within a year. Came last weekend 2 hours before closing time and asked the slicer at the meat department to cut me a few slices of different meats. He refused and said he was washing the cutting machines because he has to leave soon. Completely didn't care that I needed to get the meats for an event i was hosting. Came today and noticed that all the bread is stale. Talked to the lady in the bakery dept and asked her to warm me up some bread because everything out was STALE. At $6 for 4 rolls it is unacceptable for bread to be stale. The lady told me what is out is out and they will only warm up bread tomorrow morning. Previously the bakery dept employees would gladly warm up some bread from the freezer. Also, talked to the cashier about the stale bread and she made a face like she didn't care. She said what's out is what is available and kept ringing up my items. Completely didn't care and didn't want to involve herself in addressing the problem. The younger man that used to work the cash register would always try to help but not the current cashiers. Had similar problem before and another cashier behaved the same. Many, many more examples like these. Something really needs to be done at this store. Maybe employees should have incentives to help customers. Take example from Trader Joe's. The employees there will stop what they're doing and go out of their way to help you. Not Fresh Market employees!!! Not a fan. Fresh Market tries to be Whole Foods but fails in so many ways. While everything Whole Foods carries lives up to a certain minimum of standards, the same cannot be said for Fresh Market. More than anything, I hate that I feel like they're trying to fool people into thinking that their options are healthy (and charging the prices to match) when a quick look at their store made items reveals an ingredients list laden with chemicals and artificial ingredients. It feels deceptive to me. I expect to see these things on most packaged food, but when you're presenting yourself as a wholesome market, I expect more. Still, I can appreciate the fact that they do carry some organic products and it's occasionally more convenient to stop here after Trader Joes if I only need one item I'd otherwise go to Whole Foods for. read more

The management of the Fresh Market store in Scarsdale, NY are remarkably skilled in hiring all sorts of angry or dissatisfied misfits to staff their store. With the notable exception of the meat section (which is well run), almost every employee I have encountered since the store opened a few years ago is unhappy to be there and annoyed to have to work. I month or so ago, I witnessed an employee go on a rampage: cursing and knocking over everything in sight, she stormed out. By the time I was checking out, the police arrived. Almost every cashier is surly, save the cobalt blue haired young man who is either stoned or believes he is auditioning for a David Lynch film. A cashier yelled at me once for swiping my card too early. Yesterday, I tried to buy Swiss cheese only to be given the stink eye (eyes?) by the two behind the counter. They were annoyed because one, they could not identify the aforementioned Swiss cheese and two, the actually had to cut and bag 1/2 a pound of it for me. When I got home, I realized that my Swiss cheese was not Swiss. In fact, the cheese was not even sliced. The two jokers behind the counter slipped me a crumbled mess of cheese that was probably lying around. I don't believe that Fresh Market is purposely gathering all of the rejects in Westchester county nor do I believe that these people have collectively decided to work at Fresh Market. I believe that the most likely answer is that management sucks. I think I will stop shopping at this store and tell everyone to do the same. read more

I used to love buying meat here. Over the past 3 times it has been a bad experience. The worst of these occurred yesterday when I bought a leg of lamb. The person at the counter assured me the meat came in yesterday morning and the date on the package wrote "packed on 12/24." I opened the package this morning to cook my Christmas entree for my guests... the meat smelled something weird (a blend of chemical smell with rotten meat.) I had to throw out immediately and ordered spare ribs from a Chinese restaurant that happened to be open for Christmas.... What the heck? Rotten meat for Christmas? At such a high end supermarket I would expect the bad meat to be thtow out and certainly not to be packed the same day w a new date and repackaged for sale.... I will also be posting a complaint at the USDA.... The meat department needs to be inspected by the regulators and shut down in this store. read more

Most of the food is good, but they almost always ring up the full price on sale items. I removed my review several months ago when the manager contacted me and said he would work on the attitude of the cashiers. It improved for a while, now they are back to having attitudes when you tell them an item is supposed to be on sale(yes, the Mediterranean Savory Danish does have a "buy one get one free" sign today). To keep insisting it is not on sale, but "I'll give it to you anyway" is not good customer service. Maybe check the sign, and a simple "oh you're right, sorry" would do. read more

Beware very aware and check ALL expiration dates. This is now the 3rd time I've noticed something out very outdated - this time almost a whole year and it was coconut water. I'd assume the coconut water is sold pretty often so where in the world did they pull this one from? I also without fail wind up having to move a hand truck or something that an employee has blocking the entire aisle. They see me there and totally ignore me - particularly the produce department. The salad bar is disgusting. The lettuce and spinach is wilted and brown. The meats at the salad bar taste like rubber and the egg salad at the salad is crusted and looks rotten. I fancy myself a Fresh Market expert, having shopped at their large location at The Falls in Miami, FL about 1000000 times. It is incredible to be able to experience Fresh Market here in NY, and well worth the drive to Scarsdale! The store is clean, organized, and well-stocked. They offer a good quantity of vegan foods including fresh organic produce (especially love the organic medjool dates and fresh figs), prepared veggie sushi rolls (soypaper, cucumber-wrapped, or brown rice!), tempeh, coconut manna, and vegan frozen dinners (Amy's and Kashi veg selections) and natural plant-based desserts (Hail Mary tarts!). I love The Fresh Market to pieces and wish that there were more of them so that I could always feel "home" in one of their stores no matter where I travel. Fresh Market has advertised specials every week. I receive their weekly specials via email. For the past month, every time I stopped in this store, the special item was no longer available. Perhaps there's limited amounts but that information, in itself, should be disclosed. For example, I've stopped in on Thursday's for their $5.00 chicken. The first time I was told by a very unhappy deli person that they were still cooking and would be available in a "half-hour," another time there were none available for that "special" price (even though I received the email that morning) but was available for $7.99. The deli person explained that the prevail price was not available because of the recent ice storms in the Midwest. Really? Typical bait and switch. Yesterday, I went in for their New York strip steaks advertised at 7.99 a pound. After waiting several minutes to place my order, I was abruptly told there weren't any more steaks available; that a customer came in earlier and purchased them all. I asked if there was anything comparable and I was told "no!" It's the fifth time in a month I've been in that store and walked out empty handed. Not happy that I wasted my time, more than once, only to walk out frustrated and annoyed. The employees aren't friendly and always look unhappy to be there. This evening I had such an incredible experience at The Fresh Market supermarket in Scarsdale that I feel compelled to not only write a glowing review but give them 5 Stars! My wife and I walked into The Fresh Market at 8:55pm, when the store closes at 9. We knew we were cutting it close but had a craving for Turkish figs and honey crisp apples! The Fresh Market happens to be an amazing supermarket with a wonderful selection of fresh produce, cheeses, and freshly made desserts. While we found a great selection of apples, we were surprised that there were no figs visible on the shelf where I'd seen and purchased them in the past. I asked one of the cashiers who confidently told me that he knew they had figs and spoke to Ken, the manager. Ken assured me that there were figs in the " back", he asked me what kind I would like, and as he was about to go, I suggested that since it was almost 9:00, I could really come back another time. Ken insisted that it was " no problem " and went off to find a box of figs, which he then had to sort out( wearing gloves) and pack up for me! I was very impressed by Ken's desire to please a customer he had never met before and I knew that I'd be returning with greater frequency in the future! read more

I waited on the phone around 15 minutes before I was able to place my order. when I went to pick up my order which totaled $270, no one offered to help me check out or go to my car, even though there were plenty of people available to do so. the food was disappointing, the sandwiches were ok, but the fruit platter was soft and the dessert platter was terrible. very disappointing..... read more

So we go into our fav store to buy the orange cauliflower and purple carrots because we are doing a vegan Thanksgiving and they carry a wide variety of fruits and beautiful farm fresh veggies. Store manager Mike in Scarsdale pretty much guaranteed we will never ever shop there anymore after being profiled for stealing beer. Vegan, non drinking hubby who knows everyone in the store was so embarrassed when manager came outside to accuse him of stealing beer, told us everyone in there steals beer and meat. My husband told him to look through bags and call the police he didn't, we did. Can you imagine if we had drove off, and police came for us. Thank gosh we contacted police department to help us straighten it all out. They were very professional and declined to search us for anything . It was so ridiculous and humiliating. I come here on a biweekly basis and spend a few hundred dollars each time. Not anymore after today. The food and selection is great. However, the checkout experience was the worst that I've ever had in my life. The cashier gave my mother an attitude when she asked that some food be put to the side in a separate bag. Apparently this was too much of a problem for the cashier because she started slamming our groceries and shoving them to the side. If I'm spending that kind of money, I don't want my food to be crushed and someone to be extremely rude. She was being so disrespectful that I asked why/if there was a problem.
