Stop and Shop has a rating system for their store - A, B and C levels. The one in Lincoln Plaza, now gone, was a C level store. Everyone knows why. The one in Westboro was A level. Again, no surprise. Same deal here. The Shrewsbury TJ's is disgusting, yet the one in Framingham is great (and has wine, but that's not the important diffentiator since Total Wine was wise in opening a store right next to the TJ's in Shrewsbury). I shop both regularly, but will now be avoiding the one in Shrewsbury. It's just gross, rat traps as you walk along the sidewalk is a start. Sure, it's great that they are trapping them, but they don't go where there isn't food laying around to eat. Also gross is buying fresh produce only to find out two days later it's moldy/wilted. What in the world do they do to this stuff to have it go bad a week before date?! I suspect poor refridgeration in store or on way to store. The chickens - sometimes they'll have a date 2 weeks out, you open them the next freak'n day and they smell spoiled. It's not good. Speaking of dates, be careful - they don't rotate the shelves. They think they are clever by not doing so since people are used to reaching behind for fresher produce. I've learned to actually look at a few and pick the freshest. One time I reached behind for a later date and the dude who has been there a long time (looks like the Pitbull character from Fraiser) actually had the ballzarios to comment about it to me, all annoyed that I did that. HA! Then I saw him go back to SLAMMING bags of chips into the shelf, stuffing them in tight and smashing the shiznit out of them. Seems common, all the chips and crackers from this place a smashed up inside the bag. They are rearranging the store with hopes of it getting better I guess? All their bread is previously frozen too, hence it gets moldy REALLY fast. But, yeah, it's the lack of preservatives, right. read more

I have been a Trader Joe's customer since I first visited their El Segundo, CA store in 1984. Trader Joes has friendly, helpful, exceptionally trained employees, who go out of their way to assist you, including an ability to sample virtually anything. TJ's prices are excellent and it offers many foods that are only available at TJ's. Most are very high quality. Some of these foods become customer favorites, then suddenly disappear, never to be seen again. The only negative on TJ's is there are far too few stores in the area. read more

People who "don't get" TJ have plenty of options in the heavily branded industrial food supply and distribution chain. Actual food is often found in natural with limited packaging and no branding?!?! It requires refrigeration to prevent spoiling and limited shelf stabilizing, a good thing, accounts for TJs small stores. But you go right ahead and enjoy that deodorized, pasteurized, preserved stuff, can't beat those bargains. I also hate how crowded Trader Joe's is now. People are catching on. read more

After visiting different Trader Joe's locations over states, I can see a real big difference. This location doesn't have most of the holiday items and the employees are not very helpful. I asked an employee a question and they replied by "I don't know I don't think we do that here" instead of asking someone that knew and helping me. They are not very organized in this store but I will give them a few more chances as it is the only Trader's in my area. But most likely I'll just go to Market 32 or Whole Foods. read more

I'm SHOULD be giving 3 stars for two reasons: 1. The access here is terrible. Seriously, this is one of the hardest stores/strip malls ever to get out of unless you are going across the bridge to Worcester. It's on the right side of a busy road which splits in the middle. The only way to go back towards Shrewsbury when you leave is to cut across 3 lanes to get in the far Lane and u-turn. If you can't make that 3 lane cut across, you go across the bridge into Worcester and will have to double back. Or, wait until there's an opening to cut across in which case the cars behind you honk. There MUST be some way to find another access route out. Even to put a road out behind the store where you could take a right to wait at the stoplight. Also, now that Total Wine has opened, parking spots are very hard to come by. The lot is much to small. 2. This TJ has no wine or beer sales like many of the others. Not a huge deal now that Total Wine Spirits has opened but still. The produce here is okay. Limited selection but usually fairly fresh. The avocados are always ripe, but are u about 20-25% more expensive than a normal grocery store. There are a lot of interesting items that you won't find in a traditional cookie cutter grocery store. Lots of Indian, ethnic foods. Unique fun products. They have a huge selection of cheap flowers. Again ... The flower quality is just okay. Lest anyone think that it's all healthy food ... Much of the stuff here is of good quality but it's not exactly low cal/low fat. New Whole Foods is going in up the road ... Should be interesting to see how that affects TJ business. Honestly, I prefer Wegmans but enjoy popping into TJs to pick up a few of their unique products. I'll be honest ... There have been a lot of times I am passing by and avoid it because the road is crowded and I don't look forward to exiting the lot and heading East on RT. 9. read more

This location double-charged me for several products. When I checked the receipt and called them they told me there was nothing they could do unless I drove back. The cashier clearly wasn't paying attention and their unwillingness to try to correct their own error was a major disappointment. read more

The entire experience stands an excellent experience for me, so it is only brightened all the more when the cash registers are also delightful to interact with. I just LOVE this place! I love to come during day hours when its not crowded and people arent crabby. I've noticed the increase in prices, but that is the economy for ya... They have all the holiday stuff out, and today demo-boy stole my heart with ginger bread! SO GOOD! Service is always so pleasant and the special finds always an adventure. Saffron is a steal at TJ's... Its a fun place to shop and there are some really interesting finds - I love their baking mix, corn bread mix, and they have excellent price for nuts of all kinds! Came here in search of a specific vegan burger which I did not find, but instead was met with probably the most excellent customer service I've received in awhile. Zack went out of his way to look into the item we were inquiring about and when he told us it wasn't available gave us alternatives and recommendations on others. The staff was very personable and friendly I didn't see anyone not smiling, for a holiday week that's busy, it was very nice to come by. This access to this location isn't great. The small parking lot is shared with several other businesses, making each row at times a free for all. Entering the store I noticed vast space where there used to be items for sale. The aisles in this location are short and on the narrow side, making it not so simple getting two carts through without colliding. This is a busy store. What I did see were store associates restocking items that were apparently out at the same time everyone & anyone were in the aisles. . it was difficult but not sure what else they could do. I felt that somehow this location didn't have as much variety as I've experienced in others... The floral department is short of tiny and the produce could have been fresher. The bread and baked goods area isn't like it should be ...it looks as if items were just tossed there because there was nowhere else to put them. What I believe makes shopping here enjoyable are the associates. They are always helpful and cheery. But the store itself to me leaves a lot to be desired. read more

I'm here at least once a week! I love grocery shopping here, the service is wonderful! I never leave with any questions unanswered or product un-located. I Love the cheese section, yogurt options, free samples, and fair trade french roast coffee/rocket fuel (also available in decaf)! It is deceptively small, but there is a surprising amount of goods carefully organized in their shopping cart-friendly isles. Word of warning, it does tend to get busy late afternoon on the weekdays and early afternoon on the weekends. I only wish they had a beer and wine selection! read more

Happy (?!) employees make this a great place to shop. They have a cool game here where they hide Seamus the Shark (a rubber toy) and let kids find him. If your kids find him, THEY get to hide Seamus (and get a lollipop). Plus: stickers all the time. Did I mention my kids love going here? Great selection of foods including paleo staples/products like coconut amino acids(I think they are about $3 instead of $10 you'd find elsewhere), Chomps meat sticks, RX bars, and more. I love this place and the coworkers. My favorite thing is definitely the lamb vindaloo frozen meals and the half gallon of juices.

I have been to this store a few times over the years. They started with good prices like tofu for $1 a package and cheap nuts which their competitors have matched as time went by, so I have not gone lately. The store is not near a major highway and I have to do a U-turn to get there. Traffic is also heavy during normal times. Due to the lighter traffic during the pandemic I went to see if there were any bargains I could stock up on, but the line was all the way around the building and I did not want to stand out in the cold. They need to offer curbside pickup which I did not observe and expand delivery services to keep the lines down. Aldi's owned by the same company has offered me a better and more affordable shopping experience. read more

I love going to this Trader Joe in particular because of the awesome food samples! They usually have a food item, drink and coffee sample. On weekends they usually add a cheese sample along with their regular sample booth. The staff here are super friendly and helpful! read more

My favorite supermarket in Shrewsbury - the workers are knowledgeable AND sociable. I decided to just chat up the cashier while he was bagging my items and ended with a 30 minute conversation on moving to Shrewsbury. One of the best random experiences I've ever had. I usually get the Trader Joe's Frozen Just Grilled strips. Pre-cooked frozen chicken breast tender strips. Grilled and seasoned. Delicious! I could eat them alone or as a topping on a salad. Also one of the only places in Shrewsbury where I could find ALMOND BUTTER. A miracle worker for a good diet. A little pricey, but its expected. You're paying for QUALITY here (and I would presume every Trader Joe's). read more

Maybe it's because of the proximity, maybe it was the remodel that expanded the store, but TJs now rates #1 for me over even WHOLE FOODS. While WHOLE FOODS does offer a hot bar which will end up costing you $15 if you get any mashed potatoes ($8/lb) TRADER JOE'S just ponies up with good solid groceries. They have a permanent sample area which I think is a great idea, and as I was trying out an item I asked the girl working if she'd ever tried another item that was on display nearby-- she said no but told me to go grab one and we'd sample it-- which got me to buy it. The Produce lately has been tops and my ONLY complaint is that they switched out the free coffee for blueberry juice or something like that. C'mon--bring back the coffee! Otherwise-- Trader Joe's is IT for supermarkets in my opinion. read more

Trader Joe's has always been my favorite grocery store in Shrewsbury. It's not a store that you really go to for the essentials (eggs, milk, meat) but it has a lot of novel items that are really fairly priced. Whether it's the speculoos cookie butter, thai chili lime cashews, or bbq chicken pizza, every aisle of TJ's has a ton of great deals on great products. There's lots of different nut and flavored nut mixes to snack on along with Joe Joes, cat cookies, etc. The cheese selection here is almost as wide as Wegman's but usually $2-3 cheaper per pound. I normally don't check in at grocery stores but this was an exception. I was on a vacation trip with my girlfriends and we popped in to buy groceries. One of the associates mistakenly assured us that we were buying Cilantro when in fact we got back to our cabin and realized we had Parsley. Anyone who has had this predicament knows that the dish just can't even be made when that happens. For this I was upset. The reason I am reviewing this place is because our checker, Jay, was quite the character. He saw that I had slipped a cheesecake into the basket and proceeded to give us tips and tricks as to how to thaw the thing, dress it, and what other items it might be good with. He also referenced a few other items in the dessert freezer section next to it that he had tried and recommended as well (though he admitted he had not tried the Tiramisu). After his dessert tips, he split our whole grocery bill into 6 so we could individually pay on our credit cards. Talk about convenience! This guy is a Trader Joe's dessert connoisseur and also the most thoughtful TJ checker I have ever run into. I hope he gets a raise and a free dessert with every paycheck so that he can educate other buyers like he did with us. Seriously the highlight of any Trader Joe's experience I have had. You rock Jay! Love TJ and glad they don't sell crap like "Diet Pepsi" Best service and employees always willing to help you out and not let you wait in the check out line for too long. Prices for organic food is far better here than Whole Foods or certain Natural Food places in the area. This is my favorite TJ's location. Every worker is smiling and is just genuinely pleasant. I can also never leave here without buying at least 6 or 7 things that just look too good not to try!! Love the selection of cured meats and cheeses. Many impromptu party platters have been constructed after 15 minutes here. The bakery selection is just large enough to carry what I need (and need to try). Wish this location sold alcohol though. read more

No one should ever go to the Shaw's in the opposite plaza when the option to come here exists. I cannot say enough good things about Trader Joe's and this establishment specifically. The workers are super friendly, often walking around asking if you need help finding anything and if you have questions about the products. They all know what they are talking about and can give tailored recommendations to your tastes and dietary needs. The atmosphere is very crunchy but not in a pretentious way. It is earthy and walking in you are comfortable rather than overwhelmed (I'm looking at you Shaw's). I usually go for my weekly items. Their "Simply Salmon" is packaged to eat and is delicious every time. They have TJ brand greek yogurt with fiber which is very tasty. Their produce is eclectic and always fresh. TJs has many frozen entrees and desserts, so indulge and pick some up. Supermarkets have nothing on Joe's. read more

Trader Joe's is an awesome grocery store. I don't drink, but if you do, the first thing that you should know is that this Shrewsberry location does not have a liquor license. So you will have to go to Framingham if you want two buck Chuck. Most of the things sold at Trader Joe's are their own store brand products. This is great for two reasons: first, they are usually cheaper then namebrand products, and second, they have better ingredients. My kids like kid food like toaster pastries, and fruit and cereal bars. I can buy those things at Trader Joe's without having to worry about whether they contain high fructose corn syrup or artificial colors. I just have to remember that things like that are not necessarily healthy products, but they are better than the alternative. They have a wide variety of products at Trader Joe's. My favorites include: cookie butter, fruit and cereal bars, hummus, fruit and cereal bars, maple creme cookies, sel del mar caramel sauce, frozen pepper strips, Joe Joe cookies, and more. I just bought some new things there: chicken Parmesan lollipops, jelly beans with no artificial colors and turkey corn dogs with no nitrates. I haven't tried them yet, so I can't tell you how awesome they are, but I'm pretty psyched about my new finds. read more

This was at at the location in Shrewsbury, my friend and I waited in line with our FLOWERS for mother's day and when we got to the register not one but TWO managers came out and just stood there-- right by the register, didn't say a word to anyone just stood there and stared at us. Have always encountered friendly staff here and have always had good experiences. I prefer coming here, especially when only picking up a few items because the store is smaller and easier to navigate. I'm a fan of their selection of cheeses and their coffee. I also have always picked up good produce from here and the occasional soups, bread, or crackers. Super easy to swing by and grab items for hosting a get together. This place as some weird irony for me. When I was kid, like 8 or so, this place was called DZ Discovery Zone...lol. And back then it was probably my favorite place. Although, according to urban legend, some kid died here. And they shut it down. Now it is Trader Joe's. My favorite supermarket in all of the land! No really. What I love about it, is that it's cheap, and have TONS of varity. This is a great location always clean, and the staff very friendly. (Not mention alot of the younger male staff members are might sexy). I love the stuff here, and plus they are always giving out FREE SAMPLES...yum. read more
