I am surprised this little shop, just next door to the Lighthouse Cafe, doesn't have any reviews!…read more Our wait for breakfast led me in here...apparently the store has been on the island for about 32 years. It has the typical touristy souvenirs that I love...nothing that I needed but things I loved to look at. There were a few bags of prepackaged shells that my Dad picked up and said "I'll just buy these and save us the trip to the beach!" If I'd known we wouldn't get to the beach until high tide, I might have taken him up on this. Tuttle's is located on the lighthouse end of the island...it seems less traffic-y than some of the main parts of town and so I think it would be worth a drive to stop in. If I had more people on my list that wanted a Sanibel gift, this is a great place!

The shop owner is not a great human being and clearly hates all children for just existing. Now…read morethat I have looked at other reviews, I see this is a common theme. We walked into the door with our 5 and 9 year old and the moment we walked in the man, who was disheveled and appeared to be wearing pajamas said "this isn't a place for children, keep your hands off." Mind you we were barely in the door. Just after this my 16 year old niece was in there buying two postcards and when she pulled out her credit card, he with an attitude, actually ripped the postcards out of her hands and said "I don't charge two dollars," which she didn't even understand initially since he couldn't bring himself to mutter more than five words of explanation. He also had not actually told her the total and there was no price marked on the postcards. Once she realized he meant that she needed to pay cash instead of card, she pulled out cash and paid for the postcards, although she should have just walked out. We live on the island and have been here several times. We have been lucky enough to have his female employee, who is very kind, help us in the past. Needless to say, after experiencing the owners behavior we will never be back.

Incredibly kitchy, Instagram photo worthy restaurant with history and a great menu. I must admit Im…read morea bubble light fan, and to see a whole restaurant dedicated to the idea and theme of Christmas and nostalgia....well, its brilliant. For dinner, we got the she crab soup, swordfish, and prime rib. She crab soup: Good flavor, but maybe we ate towards the end of the night and it was too thick and clumpy from the day. Swordfish: Nicely done and the basil pesto is the way to go - kind of cuts through the heaviness of the dish. Prime Rib: Didn't look med rare as requested, but the meat was like buttah Vegetable medley is nothing special - like frozen sauteed veg Twice baked potato was good And apparently they are notorious for large pieces of cake, though we were so full, we didn't partake.

The restaurant is full of kitschy decorations, toys, photos of yesteryear and a unique place to be sure. The seating for four was a little tight - tables are close together and the buzzing staff skirted by fairly continuously during the meal. Everyone was friendly and overall, the service was OK. The food on the other hand, was pretty mediocre. The fish dishes were overcooked and tough. A raw tuna appetizer was discolored and off (we didn't eat it). The fish dip app was weirdly baked and average in taste. Deserts were very good and one should definitely get a slice of their cake (even to share). Although the meal wasn't overly expensive, it wasn't cheap either. There are better options in my opinion on Captiva and Sanibel. Glad I went here once, but that's probably my only visit.
