Wow, what a wonderful shelter!!!…read more Rather than being in sad cages, all the cats are in rooms - some with other cats if they get along or need some socialization (and some alone if they are divas!) The rooms are all SUPER clean with lots of beds, perches, toys, litterboxes, etc. and the cats all looked very well cared for. They all got turns to come out of the rooms and explore the hallways for a while. The staff were great and very friendly. They knew a lot about the cats and who might be a good fit for the adopter - making sure that every kitty goes to a home that will let them thrive the most. If you are looking for a cat this is 100% a shelter you need to visit. You have to make an appointment but you will most likely have the place to yourself to get to know the cats. Well worth the extra bit of effort (we had recently gone to an adoption event at another shelter and it was so busy and most of the cats were off in "visiting rooms" so you couldn't meet them very well.

I have a special place in my heart for CFC…read more Visiting animal shelters can honestly be depressing, but I used to volunteer here in college and it is the most well-run no-kill shelter I've seen; the cats are living VERY comfortably. Rather than keeping the cats in kennels or cages, the cats can free roam within rooms that are specific to their personality type or medical conditions. There's a big main room for the social cats and kittens, another room for cats that are shy, a third room for cats with dietary restrictions/food sensitivities, and a fourth for kitties who are FeLV positive. The rooms have windows and beds and space for them to move around, which is so nice to see! This is a nonprofit no-kill shelter in a fairly small town so because they are volunteer based, they don't have long daily visiting hours. However you can rest assured that the cats get plenty of socialization and attention. These are very happy, very loved cats :) Staff here are also very active on social media so check out the Caring For Cats Facebook page to see all of the cats and their stories, to donate, or to participate in their fundraising events! She had always taken excellent care of all her pets and spared nothing to help keep them in optimal health. After most of a year in our home, she recognized the signs that this one had reached the end of life, so we made an appointment at TLC Cat Clinic. My sister followed the doctor's recommendations and brought in the kitty couple of times with no solid improvement. On the final visit, the doctor laid out a plan for treatment that included repeated visits to the clinic. My sister said she wished to have her pet euthanized. She explained she had watched many animals decline in their old age and recognized her beloved kitty was not going to have a reasonable quality of life beyond this point. The demeanor of the veterinarian quickly changed. The doctor said that it was not my sister's decision to make. (The exact words were, "I make that decision.") She then repeated the course of treatment as if any other thoughts were irrelevant. Given the startling change in the vet's tone and attitude, we did not speak at all. I had never heard of a vet refusing the request to euthanize a suffering animal, especially one so old and miserable. My sister was already mourning her decision to put down her pet that had been her companion since the loss of her husband a year earlier. She was not prepared to argue with a contentious vet to get it done. In the end, we found a sympathetic veterinary clinic and my sister mourned her pet as well as her husband. I would never recommend this clinic to anyone. Final note: The other TLC staff were extremely kind!

Hands down the cleanest office I've ever brought my dog to. It was honestly amazing. The equipment looked top notch and there was so much of it. Everything had its home and was neatly tucked away and yet so easy for the staff to use. The appointment was like nothing I have ever experienced. It was just me, my dog, and the staff. No going in and out of the room. No waiting endlessly for the doctor to come in. I had her full attention from start to finish. It was seriously amazing. I decided to hire a pet sitter, and I did some research before finding Monica and Purrfect Pet Sitting. I've never hired a pet sitter before, and it was a stretch for me to hand a stranger my keys and trust them with my fur babies, but I had no choice. After having Monica take care of them for just a few days, I knew I had made a good decision. Monica has cared for Wendigo and Banzuke as though she were family. She sent me texts every day with pictures to update me on their status. I was overjoyed when she told me that Wendigo actually "took" to her... Wendigo never even let my own family come near her, but Monica is a cat whisperer, because even in this stressful situation she let Monica pet her and she didn't hide from her. Monica also changed their litter when it needed it, and she followed my meticulous instructions for the diet and feeding for each of the cats. What amazed me most about her is that she has been so flexible and accommodating. I had to extend my trip and Monica has worked with me through all the changes. She even brought extra cooked chicken for Wendigo when mine ran out. As a new resident and a first time street-parker, I didn't realize you had to move your car so much in Saint Paul. Monica alerted me to signs that had been posted by parking enforcement, and bent over backwards to help me make sure my car was ok. When I returned home, I found that Monica didn't just take excellent care of my babies, she took care of my home. She washed dishes she used. She kept things in order. There wasn't any trash to be found. My kitties were happy and healthy! I feel so blessed and lucky to have found someone so professional and caring for my little cat family. It has been such a relief to have one - rather two! - less things to worry about. I feel so grateful to have had Monica there ensuring all is well at home. BE SURE TO AVOID DR. SHIRLEY! Informed concent is vital for…read moregood medical care. We have had great experiences with all three of our cats with multiple of the vets and techs. All have been great except for one Doctor named Dr. SHIRLEY. Sometimes one expirence destroys the rest. Our cat had a mass. We were clear to minimize stress and procedures on our high anxiety cat. The vet used a fine-needle biopsy without telling us there was a more definitive core biopsy was an option until AFTER!!! The results were inconclusive, forcing our sick cat to endure more stress and waste our resource money. They ignored our primary concern, and SHIRLEYS CHOICE created more trauma. She could have given us all the information but instead she gave us the option she thought was best and took our money depleting resources that we didn't have to begin with at the time due to our other cats cancer treatments. If SHIRLEY actually listened we would have done the other type of biopsy but she didnt give us options. We've lost all trust at least with that particular Dr. If you have a complex case, you cannot trust SHIRLEY. I AM SO MAD YOU BROKE OUR TRUST AND STRESSED OUT MY BABY STOLE OUR MONEY TAKING FROM HIS NEEDED CARE. I can earn more money but I can't undo the damage or unnecessary stress SHIRLEY caused our family while were already going through grief. SHIRLEYS lack of care and communication made a horrific time for our family even harder when it didnt need to be that way. SO FRUSTRATING!!! I thought we had something good but you gotta judge every single Doctor as a person because there is always a SHIRLEY hiding amongst the good ones. I feel like SHIRLEY needs help with compassion and open communication. She shouldn't withhold information because she thinks she knows best. What if someone caring for her health did that to her? Not very admirable. Other doctors at this clinic are great and provide open communication and giving us options and they really care but be SURE TO AVOID SHIRLEY!! I don't care if this sounds mean...people should know her name if they come to this location....if I could I would give everyone a 5 star and SHIRLEY a 1 star. I guess a 3 to be fair to average the score because we are not allowed to score individually. We do really appreciate the care and help from everyone but Dr. SHIRLEY. We wasted over $1000 of resource and we still need a another biopsy...meaning double stress for our cat...that money we would of prefferef to use on the other type of biopsy had we known about it. We also lost a month of time of health decline due to this situation. We could have had results and a better biopsy but we had a Dr. Shirley.
