I'm especially directing this review towards the hospice team that came into my patents's home to provide hands on care. We were very fortunate to have Alyssa, Trey, and La Sarita help us out. They were excellent communicators and very caring and competent. They exhibited great teamwork. They addressed our questions without making us feel like we were wasting their time. An additional note. After my Dad passed, just 13 days after entering hospice, my Mom did not want to sleep in her bedroom alone. Gracious Care Hospice made arrangements so we could keep my Dad's rented hospital bed so I could sleep next to her and hold her hand as she grieved the loss of her husband of 68 years. That act was outside of the hospice routine, but was a key to helping my Mom pass peacefully, 17 days later. Thank you, Gracious Care Hospice.

They sent Victoria, who has been an awesome caregiver. Both my parents enjoy having Victoria come weekly, and she does housework so my mother is able to do things she enjoys. She is willing to undertake other tasks, too, and that may be needed in the future. It will be easier to do so since both my parents love Victoria. Going through New Horizons takes away the bookkeeping burden of hiring an independent worker. My parents and I just hope Victoria gets enough benefits from working with the company to keep serving us.

I spent 20 days here after a 2 day stay at a local hospital following a total knee replacement. It…read morewas not planned, nor did I partake in choosing where I went. I got excellent care and occupational therapy (OT) and physical therapy (PT) 5 days a week. The staff treated me very well and I learned a tremendous amount in PT & OT. There will always be times where a wait feels a bit long no matter where you are, but you must realize the nurses know how to prioritize the severity of the requests. I feel that if my other knee ever needs replacing, I will certainly plan to stay at Evergreen Windsor the next time to recuperate as well. Thank you Windsor Staff, for the great care! (Colorful Resident from room 28) 9/23/16 Insurance only covered 20 days of inpatient rehab, so I have 6 more PTs scheduled at OHSU-as outpatient. My first OHSU evaluation therapy was yesterday and the therapist said the progress I made from the therapy at Windsor was excellent, and this is after having no formal therapy for 9 days. I have been exercising at home the way Windsor PT and OT taught me, but wouldn't have scored so well at OHSU had it not been for my Windsor stay. Thank you Windsor staff. My new knee and I will always be grateful!

"Hotel California" in Salem, OR. My mom is a patient there, and the doc ordered blood & urine…read moresample. No one came to do either of those, so after two days, Mom asked "What happened?" Nurse said, "OH, we forgot." They did the blood draw and collected urine sample. Then she heard nothing after several days, so she asked about the results. Nurse checked, and said, "the blood & urine samples expired because the lab didn't pick them up." Evidently, NO ONE CALLED the lab. So they had to redo the blood draw and collect another urine sample. Make sure this is the type of care that you want for your loved one BEFORE checking in.

The nurses, chaplain, social worker, and CNA were a Godsend! They don't just treat and take care of the patient, they are there for the entire family! My mother has cancer, Lumina folks approached me while she was still in hospital to offer…read morepalliative services. I was really looking forward to added support as I knew our journey ahead was going to be challenging. Unfortunately, not even Lumina knows what is meant by palliative care. Each time we had a need, I would contact them and they'd say, "oh we don't do that. But call us we are here to help 24/7." Problem was they could not define what it was they were there to help with. They also kept referring to my mom as being in "hospice" and we are not there yet, that's why we signed up for "Palliative" care. Honestly during the month we worked with them trying to figure out what they could do for us- the only thing I figured out was that they were supposed to keep us from using the ER for services. So at this point "palliative " care must mean, "make sure we keep that person out of the hospital/ER" aka cut costs so they get paid. Very disappointed!
