This Coffee Roasters spot is hidden away in the back of a shared community center. I was completely taken by pleasant surprise upon entering the shop to see the roasters, tables, chairs, and view of the valley. I had a small latte while at the shop which was pretty good. I really enjoyed their Ethiopian coffee which has an exceptional amount of flavor, particularly of blueberry. I bought a couple pounds and drove it across America for my boyfriend. He liked it SO much, it was quickly consumed...in two days. The coffee is organic, of high quality, local to Virginia, and well worth the visit. If you buy the beans directly from the Roasters instead of at Whole Foods, you can save yourself money AND have the opportunity to try coffee in their store. Outstanding coffee. High values company. A hidden gem in the Valley. It's a beautiful and serene country drive, 40 minutes south of Charlottesville down Rt29 to this gravel driveway off the main drag of a very small town. The individual brew of their Blend 90 was delicious, a mix of Sumatran, Ethiopian and Columbian. Robust and balanced. Fair-trade and organic too. The $3 cup was off-set by purchasing a $10 pound of beans. The owner was super friendly and offered scenic routes home to C-ville. He was building an outdoor patio to his no-seat family roastery. Great Little hidden spot where they actually roast the coffee. OK, so going up the driveway will put a hurting on your car's shocks, but it's worth it! Coffee is outstanding, and the barista's are very sweet. Charming open-air roaster. They sell fresh (very very fresh!!) coffee. Spouse is a coffee aficionado who recently switched to decaf. He reports that their decaf is best ever. It was probably roasted this morning; it was ground before our eyes. They were roasting beans when we were there, and the smell was divine. There were full bags of green beans on the floor near the roaster from several countries. I'm a tea lover, and there was no tea for me. But they graciously gave me a cup of hot water (I travel withy own tea). It was a great place to stop on our journey home; I reckon we'll do so again. btw, drive up the hill & bear left to get to the roastery lot. read more

I'm not an expert. I just drink coffee... So far what I've tasted is amazing. I'll be back. Price is $$ but they aren't as expensive as Starbucks. Think hours are 6-3 m-f, closes earlier on sat. Friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, hometown kinda place. I'm from the city, so to have something this great 1/2 hr away from me out in the boonies (where I live now) is wonderful. read more

Yes, go into that building that looks like it's closed down- the coffee shop is really in there! The pour over was ok- perfect temperature but not a whole lot of depth to the taste but it could've been the kind I chose. My husband got a chai and it was good- it was a sweeter chai, not spicy for those of you chai drinkers. Overall cool place. read more

I only gave 4 stars since I have not been to the New Roaster site. I have the honor of drinking these fine brews from day 1. or at least since the first 100 days. I was so glad to find the bean at my favorite stop between work and home in Crozet / Greenwood on 250. This full circle of C'ville Coffee cart to shops to roaster to an outlet near me makes me very happy for the "boys" and the American spirit. Love their coffee but we drove from Lynchburg to Lovingston today to purchase coffee for the upcoming holiday season. Drove up to the store & found the lights out, no signage, no activity. I guess they just closed the door and walked out. Would have been nice to know they closed or AT LEAST to have placed a sign on the window stating they closed the facility. I visited this coffee roaster / cafe on vacation once and my wife and I loved this place. It's so local and hidden it made out-of-towners like us feel like we really discovered something special. And yes, the coffee and outdoorsy atmosphere here is great too. read more

Completely random roastery in the middle of basically no-where, tucked behind a quaint house on main street in a quintessential small VA mountain town. And the coffee, totally worth a trip in itself. A trip to their other location in the Rockfish Valley Community Center is worth adding to any bucket list. I wish I was a part of this company, I totally love the vibe. read more

Once again, overroasted. Bought the "Eithiopean" at Whole Foods. I should have known better. Eithiopean what? Strike one....probably cheap beans, thus the overroast. Black coffee done right is a sweet beverage. Not bitter, not tanic. Better than charbucks, but not nearly competant enough to buy again. Good roasters are out there, seek them out. read more

greenwood gourmet is the closest dealer close to the other side of the blue ridge mountains...that would be west. drink blend 50 daily. have not ventured to lovingston yet, but on the bucket list. staunton has a famers market on saturdays. your coffee needs to find its way to the shenandoah valley...gotta get you some read more

So far I have only tried there Espresso beans. I am not sure if you can get better than that. Can't wait to stop by the store.
