Outstanding coffee. High values company. A hidden gem in the Valley. It's a beautiful and serene country drive, 40 minutes south of Charlottesville down Rt29 to this gravel driveway off the main drag of a very small town. The individual brew of their Blend 90 was delicious, a mix of Sumatran, Ethiopian and Columbian. Robust and balanced. Fair-trade and organic too. The $3 cup was off-set by purchasing a $10 pound of beans. The owner was super friendly and offered scenic routes home to C-ville. He was building an outdoor patio to his no-seat family roastery. Another reason to visit and enjoy the moment.

Love the Mexican blend! It's a strong coffee with a smooth chocolate taste. Will definitely be ordering these grounds again.

Another customer came up behind me to ask the manager, was they taking orders in the lobby? Her reply was we are short staffed. We are busy. You guys are gonna have to learn to be patient. I said ma'am excuse me, but that's not how you talk to customers you're the manager and I understand and I can fully see that you guys are very busy and we are waiting patiently, but that's not how you talk to your customers I was told have a blessed Easter and goodbye goodbye get out of here I said to her excuse me, but that's not how you talk to people I've done customer service my whole life helping people and I've never talked to anybody like that even when I wasn't having a good day because it's not the customer's fault you don't take your anger in your frustration out on customers whatever whatever goodbye have a good day we are busy. We are short staffed and I'm not working my staff like that. I'm not overworking them. Have a good day. Have a blessed day. I'll leave go to the store connected to them. Another customer comes and tells me that when I walked out, her comment was is that we want to be with our families too so basically she was pissed that she had to work on a Sunday but you're a manager that was your call on your job profession that she wanted to do nobody forced you to work at McDonald's not that anything is wrong with McDonald's but you chose that job we didn't ask you to choose that job. I just feel like that if there is somebody over her which I know there is somebody really needs to talk to her because that's not good customer service and that's why that particular McDonald's and I live in Nelson born and raised that's why that particular McDonald's has the ratings that it does because of people or management like her. She was very rude and very unprofessional and at this point it looks very ugly as a person.

Like, "did I just wander into a rustic resort?" levels of big and every corner has its own personality. First stop? The farm market. And listen... I could've spent my entire vacation budget right there. Shelves stacked with homemade canned goods, sauces, jams, salsa, pickled everything, and more pumpkins than Cinderella could handle. Total cozy-country heaven. The grounds are seriously gorgeous. You get these pockets of space that feel secluded and peaceful, almost like a secret beachy cabin retreat dropped into the Virginia mountains. There are tons of tables outside so you can sip and snack in the sunshine, plus a driving range, volleyball pits, and a giant "LOVE" sign that basically begs you to take a photo. Inside, the bar is warm, rustic, and charming the kind of spot that feels like it was built for good drinks and even better stories. They had a food truck the day we visited (I didn't see in-house food options), which just added to that relaxed, festival-by-the-lake feeling. Between the gorgeous scenery, the spacious layout, the drinks, and the vibes? This was easily one of my favorite stops on our travels. 10/10 would go back in a heartbeat.

We were also told the owner/event manager would be on hand for help the day of. She seemed to forget who I was after meeting with me multiple times, but no biggie. I'm sure she meets lots of people. What was really not okay was that when we showed up to set up our event, the area was NOT cleaned and there was nobody to be found. There was dust and dirt everywhere that took an hour to clean before even being able to set up, a gross dead bug graveyard in the sitting area floor, it smelled musty, and overall was just not up to the standard they advertised. The owner nor any staff showed up at any point. We were not greeted, we were not helped, and it was just kind of a "okay good luck" situation. Also, the "AC" was on 75 on a hot May day. After paying the second half of the $550 fee, I didn't hear from the event manager other than a text asking what time I'd be in. Afterwards, nobody checked on us or the space. Never even heard from them to get a "thank you for renting our space" or "I'm sorry I wasn't available today"... To pay $550, you'd expect to get what you pay for. As a local, I will NOT be renting there for any other party I host nor trying out their B&B if the service is anything like this experience has been. Next time, we'll pay $550 for a nicer place on 151.
