BEEware! A colony of bees have migrated close to the motel, and can be seen not only around the flowers, but around your car, if it has a lot of dead bugs on it (which mine did). While the bees are not aggressive (as long as you don't irritate them, they won't bother you), those who are allergic may want to either bring extra epi-pens, or stay somewhere else. If you're a perfectionist, or want all of the latest conveniences, besides a microwave and mini fridge, then this place is not for you. But, if you want a place to lay your head for a night in a decent room at a good price, where the staff is, helpful and friendly and the bare bones place close to the freeway, then it's hard to beat here. Yet, another independent who doesn't offer cash discounts. But, for the price, I can't blame 'em. The grounds, in my opinion, could be maintained a little bit better. But the room and bathroom were clean, and the bed comfortable. There is a microwave and a mini fridge. But, no clock or phone. And of course, because of the age of the Motel, there are very few outlets in which to charge your devices. One thing to be aware of, is that in the early evening, you may hear a loud BOOM, and feel a sharp vibration. When this happened, I looked out the blinds, and nobody was freaking out. So, I was guessing everything was okay. The next morning, I found out it was one of the 3 mines in the area doing some blasting. One thing this place could upgrade on, is put it in room darkening shades, in place of the blinds. As the room may get more light then you would like (for me, it wasn't bad. And, it actually helped not to trip over the foot of the other bed; see picture). They do have laundry facilities 8-) , but it was out of order. :-( Also, no breakfast available here of any kind (there are several places around). But, for $56, I wouldn't expect it. read more

I booked this room through Booking.com and based on the photos on-line the room looked perfect. When we arrived it was NOTHING like the photos. Very small, I booked a king bed and got a full. No plugins or counter in the bathroom, just a stand alone sink. Very old building. Rips and tears in the blinds on the windows and the comforters. The bathroom fan sounded like it was going to tear out of the ceiling. I was very disappointed. Next time I'll check the reviews NOT just the photos. read more

Our bed was on a pallet. Our pillow cases were inside out and dirty. Sheets smells as though someone had already slept in the bed. No lamps, no clock, fridge and t.v. worked. Our door was not locked when we arrived to open it. Really poor choice on our part to pick that place after driving for over 12 hours. read more

We booked this place for $50 a few months ago, knowing we would not want to travel home after Brewsfest on the mountain. Obviously it's an older facility, but it was clean and comfortable with very few amenities. We had a little hiccup at the front desk, because they obviously overbooked for the event weekend, but we had paperwork in hand showing our confirmation, and I'll credit my hubby for insisting we bring it just in case. Let me put this in perspective. I am giving this property four stars not because it is a four-star property but because of the class of accommodations it is pretty darn good. Equipped with cable, ac, coffee, fridge, and microwave, ice, laundry, etc it meets all the needs of the frugal traveler...and at $45 out the door it is FAR cheaper than anyplace within 50 miles. read more

If you're traveling through the Idaho panhandle, the Trail Motel in Kellogg is a decent and inexpensive place to spend a night. This is an older, family-owned and operated place with a good vibe. It's a little ragged, but clean in the ways that matter. I'm sitting in my room at the Trail Motel right now, having paid $43.15 for a single room - about as inexpensive as it gets. And it includes free wi-fi, at Idaho Standard Speed (think: tortoise). The motel is just down the street from Sam's, a fine place for breakfast. I let them know we were going to arrive late. They told us that it would be ok just to call them when we got there. After traveling 8 hours, we arrived to find out that there's no room available. What a fantastic value! This place is small place with fantastic atmosphere buried in the beautiful hills of the Idaho Panhandle off of I-90. Our room has free WiFi (that's fast enough to stream music), TV (Channels 2 through 13. we found this out the hard way (my bad) ha-ha), mini-refrigerator, microwave, and an owner/operator who goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable and fixes anything immediately. Our first room wasn't cleaned. we found out that there was new housecleaning staff ... needless to say we were given another room which is just right. We will stay here again, next time we're traveling through. Oh yeah, bring your own shampoo. Hey at $43.15 (taxes incl) that's a small inconvenience. All you have to do is use the shampoo that you took from your other hotel rooms on your trip ;) read more

Great little motel. Now, this place is not for everyone. Yes it's older and it dated but the bed was soft, managers awesome, and they shuttled us from Kellogg to Wallace so we weren't drinking and driving. Very biker friendly and really catered to us. I'd stay there again for sure. read more

It's nothing fancy, but if you're looking for a place to lay your head for the night, and wake up looking at the mountains of the Idaho panhandle, it's nice. It's on old US-10, so amenities are walkable, but stores do close early. read more

I stayed here for an overnight sports event.. the sheets were not clean, mattresses were torn and stained, the pillows were yellow, the wifi did not work, the mini fridge frozen all of my food, there were used (not from us) cotton swabs on the floor and I left feeling more dirty than when I came after a long day of running track. I stayed in this decrepit place on May 7, 2017. The manager initially gave me Room 17. It smelled like carpet was wet and then didn't dry properly. I asked for another room. Got #25. At 5:00 a.m. I awoke and a bed bug was crawling next to my pillow. When I told the female manager (who looks very sickly), she discounted everything. So, if you dare to stay there. BEWARE. It is not worth it! Got bit and now it can cost a couple thousand dollars to hire someone to fumigate, etc. Definitely not worth it. Notified Idaho Health Dept. Informed me they can do nothing as Idaho doesn't like government oversight into such matters. SAD and SCARY! Poor Idaho. read more

Does the job. Traveling from OR to MT, we got stuck in an insane windstorm close to Spokane, WA and had to take cover. This motel is small and very outdated, but the staff is friendly and provided shelter from the storm. I'm not high maintenance, so it works for me. They accept dogs (bonus)! If you need a bed, microwave and a mini fridge for your beer, this place does its job. Don't expect a Hilton. Can't complain. read more

Whoa...don't believe everything you read on this site! This was our number one worst experience ever and we are not high maintenance! So...I will say that the gentleman who checked us in was nice enough and the young lady who works housekeeping was nice also but this room... we really should have stayed elsewhere. They say it's a nonsmoking facility...I don't think so!!! The room was so stinky we had to buy air freshener. The bedspread was filthy... wish I had photos! The sheets were so old the pilling worked as an exfoliant. Carpet was tore up. Our room was directly over the office so I think at one point it was the living quarters for manager cuz there was a set of stairs in the back of the room that went down to a door. The top was chained off and in the stairwell were 2 mattresses...just tossed down there. I really hate writing this bad review but it was not good! I'm giving it 2 stars cuz the 2 people we encountered that work there were nice. But this place was...well I think you got my message. read more

My wife and I have stayed here three times now and it's a good clean motel. The Mgr's have always been good to work with. The price is right. The motel is right downtown and easy to find. Great place! Just what we needed for a quick night while passing by. We flew into Spokane and flight was delayed 2 hours, so arrived really late. Thankfully we reserved online as it was booked up. Called the number on the door and woke up the owner, who was friendly even at that hour. Super cheap place and clean was all we needed, thanks! I gave 4 stars due to the age and condition of the hotel. It was very clean but worn. For a one night stay and you just need a clean room and bed this is the place. Would stay again for the price, it was around 50 bucks. read more
