Nonetheless, Red came out to downtown Bandera where we were having dinner and offered to diagnose the problem. Did I mention he has a Mobile trailer repair service?! In minutes he had the trailer jacked up on the street and not only diagnosed the problem but temporized it so we would be okay to keep traveling. After all that, he didn't want to charge for his service and just asked us to " have a safe trip". Of course we paid for his time, thanked him profusely and wished we had more gentlemen like him in Austin. Makes me want to move to a small town if everyone is gonna be as nice as Red and Slim. My wife and I were passing through the San Antonio area last year on a trip from Oregon. We were…read moregoing to be there for a few days, so I had an opportunity to do a mid-trip inspection on our travel trailer. I was shocked to find that a couple of the spring shackles were worn to the point of imminent failure (five year old trailer). There's no way we would have made it back home without an immediate repair. We made contact with a trailer outfit in New Braunfels - the owner took a look at our issue and thought he could fix it. He said to bring it in the next morning. When we showed up, the owner wasn't there. We waited for about 45 minutes - when he did finally arrive, his story changed completely - he said he couldn't help us, and that "we'd be fine to make it home." Desperate, we made about 10 phone calls before we happened onto Brian at Specialty. We brought the trailer by, and he said he could probably deal with it the following morning "if his guys showed up." Sure enough, I called him first thing, and he said to bring it by. Backed it right into his shop, and an hour and a half later, all of the spring shackles were replaced and we were ready to roll. Gave us great peace of mind for the rest of the trip. It's really hard to find vendors like this nowadays. No one else could or would help us. His guys did a great job, and the price was amazingly reasonable, considering it was somewhat of an emergency. Turns out all the tires needed to be replaced. 2 of the tires were so bad they warped and bent the rims. I replaced all 4 tires and the 2 bad rims. About $600 Went to magnum to inform them of the crap they sold me. They took zero responsibility and did absolutely nothing to rectify the situation. So after writing a check for almost $9k for a brand new trailer, I had to turn around and spend almost another $1,000 to fix it. Idk how people like this stay in business
