Had a complete rear flat on my Velotric e-bike. Did an online service appt for drop off on Sun., 8/6. Took the bike in and was told if I wanted, I could pick the bike up in ~25 mins. Went to do a couple errands and was back in ~30 mins. As I was walking in the door I got a text saying my bike was ready. Nice same day service with a local business. Will go back. Shop is open on Sundays (not sure about Sundays being year round etc). read more

I was riding on the trail next to Trailside on Saturday,when it felt like my back hub seized up.I looked at it and couldn't see anything obvious. I couldn't risk riding it any further. Because it was the Holiday weekend,any hope of finding someone open was unlikely, but as luck would have it Trailside was open,even though they aren't very close to my house, I decided to give them a try,what a great decision it was.I stopped in on Sunday (they were open11-3) and took my squeaking bike in,expecting the worse.There was a very nice man working (he apparently drew the short straw) and he said what I was thinking, it was probably the rear hub bearing needing replacement,so I left it and it would take approximately 3-4 days,no problem, but a real bummer, as I was hoping to get in a few rides this weekend. I left and got in my car to leave,when all of a sudden, there was a knock at my window.There was the the bike repairer,with my bike in hand.He informed me, all it was,was a spring on my rear brakes that had been tripped and was grinding the wheel(don't know how I missed that,but I did).He had fixed it and said there was no charge! I was dumbfounded.He saved my weekend and I was able to get in several good rides,thanks to him.I only wish I had gotten his name to personally thank him.I will definitely seek them out for work in the future.Recommended. read more

On top of that when I pointed this out the owner became belligerent and told me I was wasting his time. Everything and Everyone! I've never experienced such disrespect in any one place in my life! I'm a single mom with two boys that are 15-19. My 15 yr old crashed his e-bike and i called around to see who repairs these bikes and called before i went there. The young guy I spoke with told me they repair these bikes brand and it could be 7-10 days. I was so relieved that they could fix it. When I got there a woman checked in my son's bike and told me 7-10 days as well. 8 days later I hadn't heard from them on what the repairs would cost or what was exactly wrong with it. So I called to check on the status, that's when I was verbally assaulted because I asked some question on why I haven't heard anything. The young man told me he was booked out 4 weeks and he's got 30 bikes in front of mine, I'm not special. I was trying not to lose my composure, I asked him if he was the owner and he said no, I asked him why i didn't receive a call on the repair estimate, why I was told 7-10 days. He told me that he doesn't care when my son's bike gets done, that he's the only technician and nobody knows what they're doing besides him. He told me the lady who checked the bike in only works 2 days a week and she doesn't know what she's talking about. I asked him to stop being rude his reply was, you've wasted my time asking stupid questions and you can come get your piece of shit bike because he doesn't work for me. I asked if he was the owner again and he said no but also wouldn't give me information on anyone else that works there. I told him he needs to be respectful because I'm old enough to be his mom, he then said that's even worse because I should no better then yo ask stupid questions and waste his time. I was appalled and asked my 19 year old to go with me to pick it up. Once there, the lady that checked in my bike was there and she had just gotten there and wasn't at all surprised by his actions. He might be the owners son or something because the attitude, the abuse of the little authority he had you could tell there would be no repercussions for him. Otherwise nobody in their right mind would talk to a paying customer that way! He brought the bike out and started verbally assaulting both my son and I . You can tell by the mouth on that punk that he's never been spanked and on drugs. There was no accountability and in fact he doubled down on the disrespect to now my son as well! We tried to email the owner of the store because we were confused as to why I wasn't given the owner's name and wanted to inform him of how this employee is treating customers. The kid actually got the email and emailed my son back and again was just very rude and volatile. I thought this is the only one way to help make sure nobody especially moms and grandmas has to deal with this kind of disrespect, I'm am still stunned that the owner has not reached out with an apology! read more

I had two experiences in a week that were just unbelievable. I don't know how this place can still be in business. The owner swore at me today on the phone when I called from the parking lot inquiring if they were open today. It was more than 1/2 hour after the posted hours so I called and he hung up on me. When I called back 10 min later I got the "Oh you stupid idiot" speech that seems to be repeated by many other reviews on YELP. I wish I had read these other reviews so I wouldn't have waisted my time trying to look at their e-bikes. Too bad they are the only shop in the state that sells Velotric bikes. Maybe if Velotric saw these reviews they would probably move their sales to another shop and sell a ton more bikes. I am 65 years old; and, I asked for help getting my bike out of my SUV. Han blew me off and proceeded to take care of the next person who came in. After that person was done, I asked for help. He told me he could not help me because the customer he took before me was looking around. When I politely asked if someone else could help, that is when he lost it and told me to go somewhere else and leave. I walked out and could not believe how he was so angry. I have never written a review ever. I am still shaking my head at this total disregard for business and customer service. I would never recommend this shop. I decided it was time to pass down my Trek 700 series to a family member who was riding a heavy cheap bike. so my front tire was flat. I took it in with a spare tube in hand and the folks at the register checked out if wheel needed to be trued and it did not. I wanted it checked. They said if the tube was ok( it was old, as am I ) it would be about $15.00. very reasonable and was done and ready the following morning. loved, loved, the friendly service and register people. will definitely use them again read more

Wheelies I was torn on repairing or replacing my aging ride. I brought it in to Trailside to have it checked out and within 24 hours and under $100 I was able to get the tires, tubes and handgrips replaced and it was all tuned up and cleaned up looking like new. The store/shop itself is huge. They have a large selection of bikes (duh) of all varieties - I thought the fat bikes were pretty cool. read more

Was given the name of this store Trailside Cycle by John Wade at Magicycle ebike in CA regarding future warranty work prior to buying the ebike. When I called to inquire about possible future warranty work, the employee or owner said they wouldn't do the warranty work while screaming at me over and over "do you know anything about business". It was so bad and probably the worst customer service I've ever experienced to the point of being laughable. He refused to give me his name and hung up on me. Wow, this person should really be in a different line of work. I informed Magicycle I won't be buying one of their bikes if this was my service option. read more

I was verbally assaulted when I came to this store a few years ago. It was to the point I was afraid. I walked into the store with my bike after a day on the bike trail and said, "Hello?" No one was in the store. I went outside and there sat a guy, cranking music, and flipping me off. He started verbally assaulting me. Telling me to take my piece of s@&$ Trek and go somewhere else you f@&$ing b@&$! This verbal assault came from absolutely no where. Yelp deleted my review recently that I had up for years because apparently my review was offensive. I felt the need to repost because people need to know this before they go into this store. I feel like giving a 3 star rating is being generous. The guy working (not sure if he's the owner or just the main employee there) each of the few times I've gone in has been generally not helpful and didn't seem to care that customers were even there. The reason I'd still leave a 3 star is because they have tools outside to allow riders to use them even if the shops not opened. STAY AWAY. I ordered from them online, paid with paypal, and never received an order confirmation. I called them a week and a half later to politely follow up, and let them know I hadn't received any shipping confirmation or even a receipt. The guy on the phone said "your order's been cancelled, the money's in your account." I was baffled. How did he know who I was? I hadn't given any information. He just kept repeating himself, getting agitated and angry with me. He hung up on me, and I checked my paypal, NO REFUND! I called back and someone else told me they'd call paypal right away, and then before I could ask for more information, hung up on me again! So, no product, no refund, and no cooperation. I will update if this changes. So far, these guys are actual scammers! UPDATE: They gave me my money back, but continued to interrupt, talk over me, and just were incredibly rude and awful. Popped in to help the small guy. No "hi" as I walked in. I asked if he/they had e-bikes. (Mind you he's sitting on his butt and doesn't bother to get up or look away from his computer screen). He said they had 1 but it was on a test ride. It wouldn't be back for a few hours. He "tried" pulling a picture of it up (the screen is not facing me at all) but said he couldn't find it. He asked me if I wanted pedal assist or throttle. I told him I had one. Score but I had no clue. Stated he'd get more "Insert brand name here" in and to come back. I asked what they looked like he again started typing on his computer to pull a picture up, but to no avail, "wasn't able to" so I was told to come back. I asked again, no pictures? He was irritated at this point and stated no very abruptly. I immediately left as I felt unsafe. (No lights were on inside either--weird!--perhaps the electric bill is too much?!?). As I walked out the door, shaking my head, I said to myself, not too loudly, but loud enough, "Wow, can't even help find a picture." I was just about to my car door when I heard the door fling open and him (the owner?) yell, "F@@@ you, stupid B@@@@. I said to f@@@@n stop in on Thursday." I'm from Arizona, and I was up here for 4 weeks. I wanted to purchase a new bike for my son and deliver it for his birthday. I did 2 visits, the first, stopping by to check it out and had an opportunity to talk to Nigil. We had a great first visit and impression. I haven't purchased a bike in 18 years so a lot of new things happening in the industry. I followed up my visit and to purchase my bike during the week I was leaving WI. I purchased a new bike, new seat and a water bottle. I did not experience any of the negativity found in some of these other reviews. It is a bike shop, and they are working back there. Stopped into your shop with a low tire after riding in from Lake Mills, on Sunday 6/16/19. Did not see anyone around, so I walked into the back of the shop and said hello, looking for an employee. A fellow came from the back yelling hello back several times that I thought he was speaking to another person in the back. I asked him if he had time to look my tire & he repeated something about running over some sort of spikes several times. He told me to bring the bike in. After bringing the bike in, I mentioned that I had to use fix a flat to ride in. He so rudely told me (waving his hand) "bye bye, take it to another place to deal with it." "Bye bye, you go know." "bye bye"........... I understand that Trailside may not want to deal with fix a flat, but why be so rude about it........ Had the oddest shopping experience. Stopped in to buy a bike for my 11 year old daughter. Was told by John that they don't sell birthday presents and that I could leave. When I asked why as I have never heard of a company not selling birthday presents for children I was asked if I was from the New Berlin area. When I said yes, he said that obviously I drank the New Berlin water and could leave. Perhaps it is just John as I have done business with them in the past with no issue. During COVID, began a shopping experience online (seeking a womens cruiser to fit 5'10" tall) by email to Trailside Cycle. Sure enough, late that night got a reply from a Hans. He elaborated on a better than Big box brand he carries called REID. I did a bit a research sure enough REID has a nice product line, is noted for durability and the cruiser design was appealing to my Daughter. Three emails later, educating me, they offered to hold a bike that was a great fit for my Daughter. Trailside has inventory (bikes accessories and more) - Nice! Gave them a call asking if they could ready the bike for a test ride. Was ready in 35 minutes, when we arrived - Nice! Trailside gave us time to "test drive" the product, Reid's ride very very smooth braking and shifts easily. During our visit I watch our contact there, multitask three different customer groups and hustled his tail off, thanx for your great service. Trailside then FOR FREE mounted a basket and water bottle system at our request - Super Nice! Trailside bikes come with two seasons of service - Nice! Trailside prices on the Bike and Accessories were Budget Friendly. Bought it and began enjoying the bike same day. Thanks Trailside. read more

Worst service in the history of service. Brought bike in for tune up, waited two weeks and was vastly overcharged with no communication. After a $hitty post sales exchange, I was simply grateful it was behind me....until my first ride on my 'newly tuned up bike' when the chain flew off causing me to crash. Thus literally adding injury to insult! When I complained, I was told by the owner to go somewhere else. After a lot of deliberation, and patience from Hans, finally made my first purchase of a bike in at least 15 years. I knew I wanted something unique, growing up with BMX race bikes, I wanted something like a BMX bike for adults. Hans walked me through my options, and discussed the pros/cons of each. Since the store is more independent than others in the area, I wasn't getting led to 1 bike because it was the only one that fit the bill from their main supplier. Looking at offerings from the smaller boutique companies like BMC, Marin, Jamis, and Surly, I landed on the Jamis Komodo 27.5+. It was the style I wanted and within my budget, but lacked some of the features I had to have. Most importantly, I wanted a 1x front chain ring to remove the clutter/weight/complexity of a front derailer and multiple chain rings. Also possibly a solid front fork. I was told by other shops that this was not as simple as I believed, and would cost a lot to modify, and I should just pick a doubly expensive bike from their "Big Brand", that already have the features I wanted. That isn't how Trailside Cycles operates. Hans assured me that the mod is (not to undersell it) quite simple, order in a new chain ring, remove the derailer/shifter/cables, do a little tuning and I'd be all set. Hans told me he would order the part on Monday, it would take a day to get the part, and another to install it, should be done on Wednesday. He was done and gave me a call the SAME day, literally just a few hours later. Took it apart, saw the clearance issue with just installing a new chain ring on the old crank. Had a correct crank/chain ring in stock, and did the work that night. All of this was completed for the cost of parts. No labor. I also got all of the original parts in case I ever want to go back to stock. If this is the bike you want, with this change, don't get upsold to a bike double your budget. It's small shops like Trailside Cycle that put an importance on YOU, the customer. read more

This was the worst service I have ever had!!!! Do not go there for bicycle service. I went to get a flat tire fixed. I took the tire there three times and each time the owner (drunk and wreaked of booze) ensures me he found the problem. Not to mention charged me twice for the tube and the tape for the third tube. The customer service here is the worst ever. My husband called for a tube for his bike and the guy told him they were open until 6 so I could swing by after work. I got there just before 5:20 and the door was locked and the closed sign was up. A guy got there a couple minutes after me and called the number and someone inside said they'd be right there. After about 5-7 minutes waiting outside, I decided to call and told him my husband called earlier and said they'd be open and asked why the doors were locked. He said they go by appointment only, which he didn't tell my husband. So he lets me in but was super rude and patronizing. Seeing many of the past reviews, I see this is not an isolated incident. Stay away from this place. There are other bike store with much nicer staff. I'm not sure how that guy is even still in business. read more

Upon walking into the store Hans barked at me from the back 'what do you want', I told him I needed my daughters chain fixed, he yelled at me to leave it up front. I asked when it would be finished or if I should call later to check on it & he blew me off and walked away to the back. When my husband brought the bike in the store he told him to leave the bike and get out of the store, my husband asked him if he can just explain what the issue is with the bike and Hans told him to 'F*ck off and get out'. I live just down the street from this bike shop and want to support small business but I'll NEVER go back to this place. I was surprised to find that there was nobody in the store who knew how to run the cash register. The mechanic was there, and he was busting his ass trying to get a couple of bikes back on the road. But he said some guy named "Hans" just went to Walmart, then out to lunch and the run a few errands. Leaving a retail store without the ability to do any retail makes me question how serious the owner really is. There were tons of half open boxes, the whole place has a very dirty and disorganized appearance. There is a door marked "service" which is locked. That almost make me walk away, but I needed help. Finally found a door that was unlocked. It was 1pm. It is too bad. The place is in a great location and I think it could do really well if the right person was there. Stopped in to look for bike accessories, specifically bags. Was told by the guy behind the counter that they had none and that we should go to Wheel & Sprocket. Bags were clearly hanging on the back wall. Asked about water bottle baskets and ideas about where to put one on my bike, which is a model that they sell. Again his reply, "Don't have any. Go to Wheel & Sprocket." The water bottle baskets were on the wall right behind him. Asked him about a clicking sound on the bike I own which again is a model they sell. "Don't know" was his reply. I said that I thought we would be having our bikes serviced here but..."NO" was his quick reply. "You don't service bikes?" I asked, knowing full well that they do. "NO! GOOD BYE" as he stormed toward the back of the store where they do the servicing of bikes. I don't understand his behavior toward us but I will definitely not be taking our bikes there for servicing or patronizing this business in any way. read more

Had a great experience at Trailside Cycle. Hans was extremely patient with me. Very helpful and easy-going. I had heard about electric bikes, and I wanted to see what one was and whether it would meet my particular need. I called around, and it turns out Trailside Cycle has more electric bikes than the other shops in Brookfield. Hans listened to my story and helped me find the right bike for me and my budget. Hans let me take the bike for a couple test rides - I wanted to be sure it was the right bike for me - and then made the whole transaction very easy for me. Having the electric bike has opened up so many new possibilities for me. Brookfield is a little hilly, and the power assist of the electric bike makes it so that I can go places I was unable to go before. I am able to enjoy biking again. I cannot thank Hans enough, and I am telling everyone I know what a great experience I had at Trailside Cycle. read more

Absolutely horrible - The service person was rude, insulting and condescending. Worst service in my entire life - Charge was double what was initially quoted and then said he quoted only parts because we did not ask about labor or the tubes for the tires. When you ask how much this will run one would assume the service person is giving you the entire amount, not just the parts. He said "Next time buy your bike at store and not EBAY or a garage sale" He offered to remove the parts because "he'd rather have the parts than my business" of which I should have let him do. He said "what did you think, you'd get the bike fixed for $50" of which I said "yes, because that is what you quoted me". I told him I had never been treated so rudely and he said "sorry". I said I didn't think he was sorry and he said "no, I'm not". I told him I will never ever enter his business again nor will I recommend anyone to go there, he said "good, we don't need your business". Epic mistake made by me, I should have had it fixed in Mukwanago where they know how to treat customers!!!. I told him I will be going to Mukwonago in the future and as I was walking out he said "good luck with Mukwonago". I WILL ADVISE ANYONE I KNOW TO NEVER GO HERE read more
