I actually came here this past weekend after searching for a local place that sold Aventon bikes. I had been researching the Aventon Level 3 online and was really hoping to be able to pick one up that weekend so I could use this summer, especially since gas prices have gone up and I can commute with it around Bayview to everywhere I need to go. When I walked in Jeremy greeted me and asked if I needed any assistance. I had already saw that they had the Aventon Sorella 3 and the Aventon Level 3 and 4 step-through bikes. So I asked him if the store had any Level 3 step overs and Jeremy said, "yes, we actually have one black one left, want me to bring it up?" I said sure--as that was the exact one and color I wanted. Jeremy brought up the bike and let me test ride it and let me just say that I knew after about 10 minutes that I was going to buy that bike. He let me know that the e-bike needed to get checked before I could pay for it and ride off into the sunset and luckily we had time to explore the store and I was able to take it home about 30 minutes later. Not only did he explain everything about the bike that I needed to know to safely operate it but he also answered all my questions about the tires and things that I never had to deal with on my triathlon bike. I have already ridden it about 15 miles and I cannot believe how much I would love an e-bike! Just took my wife's e-bike back in for a quick tuneup to Erik's on Layton. Bought it in late May of this year. (first shopped every bike store in town and chose Erik's). We only used it occasionally but felt we should take advantage of their service offering. I expected to leave it and pick it up after a week. not so. Was pleasantly surprised to be immediately shown to the tech section of the store where tech Joe took it, ran it through every conceivable test, tweaked where necessary and handed it back to me all within ten minutes. I also asked him to help me get a part replaced for a Thule bike carrier I'd bought the year before. He followed me out to the car, took a few pics and told me 'no problem', he'd send to Thule and get a part quickly turned around to me. Just got the text confirming the part was already put on order. Bang! Reason for me writing this review now is that even after a year of being a customer of Erik's, I am repeatedly blown away by the consistency and high quality of knowledge, service and price these guys deliver. Man, I had a great experience in the Minneapolis location I used to go to, but this shop just tried to absolutely bilk my girlfriend when she took my bike in. She was going to take both out bikes in for a quote and repair, saving me time, but man, thier quote was ludicrous. They obviously saw 'woman in need of repairs' and thought they could upsell the crap out of her. So, for those looking for a quote range, the quote they gave her (they would not quote over the phone, I see why now) for my bike (her bike needs more work, but I know my bike) was 149 for what they call a complete clean. Other shops in the area will-- well, charge far less for a clean, but sure, thier turnaround time is faster? But then they also tried to tack on $14 for replacing both brake cables (7 each) and $10 ($5 each) for replacing the derailer cables. Fam, these cables did not need replacing. They also wanted to replace the chain, which they apparently offered to do gratis (though also, the chain did not need replacing). I have an older bike with a Shimano ST shifter that sticks sometimes if the grease gets old, but instead of quoting for a repair (about an hour's work) they wanted to charge $50 in labor to replace it. Oh right, that's only the labor half of the quote. So for parts they had $20 each for replacing the brake and derailer cables, which is a markup but I also suspect I wouldn't be getting premium cables out of the deal. They also wanted to replace the cable housings for another $10 of markup (5 each brakes and derailers). Again, even if you're replacing the cables they did not need new housing tube. The brakes they wanted another $6 for new noodles-- which again fam, they did not need. Oh also new pads (also not needed) for $20 parts and labor ($10 each)-- new pads were ALSO not needed. And the kicker was they wanted to replace the rear shifter with a $16 cheapo, so it wasn't even a good shifter they were going to replace it with. Grand total quote of $367.90-- or so you would think because they hand inked in another $60 of shadow parts not listed in the line item quote. Shady AF, Fam. read more

I bought a almost $3000. bike from here on a salesmans word that I would get 50% back if I traded the bike in within a year. I go in less than a year and they tell me $950. Even states half back trade in program on their website. I am sure there's some fine print somewhere that wasn't explained to me when I bought the bike. Pretty Shady practice. read more

We spent the 40 minutes driving back to Greenfield to get this resolved. The associate was sincerely apologetic about this misstep and seemed to take ownership of the issue. The damaged battery was swapped out and now can be locked correctly onto the frame. The ill fitting front fender is still a bit annoying but I'll figure something out to give it a proper fitment appearance. I'm satisfied with the response, life is too short to be pissy. We took our 3 grandchildren to Erik's for bike helmets. We received help from a really nice guy......Taylor, who was extremely knowledgeable and patient. He knew what he was talking about regarding every helmet and brand that they tried on. They all got exactly what they liked and we walked away with the feeling that they are safer riding their bikes. Have taken my mountain bike here 3 times for adjustments and most recently, service to the main crank bearings. Each and every time the Techs are super helpful, they explained the scope of work to expect and the estimated cost. They don't nickel and dime you, I believe their charges are very fair (less than Wheel n Sprocket) and they have treated me like I'm a long-time customer, even though they know I didn't buy my bike from them. Purchased a $1200.00 dollar bike and felt like I bought it from Walmart. Nothing about the bike was explained to me. I wasn't fitted to bike as they claim on their website. Even after I asked about the fitting I was told that setting the seat height was it. I found same bike at a local bike store in west Allis for $50.00 cheaper. I returned the bike after two weeks. I experienced the best buying experience ever today at ERIK'S Bike Board Ski on 84th and West Layton Avenue in Greenfield Wisconsin. I'm a 74 year old senior who likes bike riding as do a number of my friends. The trouble is that those hills on the trails look a lot steeper than they use to look. Then came the solution....the e-bike. I went to ERIK'S looking for something that would allow me to enjoy a reasonably long ride without the worry of being stranded on the trail. I had the pleasure of meeting Marcus Beyer, the assistant manager who helped me find the bike for me. I was interested in a fat tire bike which was fantastic but also looked just a bit "too young" for a guy my age. After Marcus showed me other bikes near my price range I picked one that cost less but gave me what I needed without looking like "Easy Rider." He NEVER tried to upsell me but was way more interested in getting the bike that would work for me. You can tell that he is more interested in customer satisfaction than trying to sell a bike that is more expensive but is not right for the buyer. He came out to the spacious parking lot, and checked out the size of the space in my Mazda hatchback to see if the bike would fit. He also took me back into the showroom and showed me how to easily remove the front tire with the included tool which would make the bike fit easier into the car. He's a neat caring guy who puts the customer first. I recommend this bike shop to anyone who is looking for a bike that fits their needs and at the same time feel like your sales associate is treating you fairly and not trying to scam you out of a buck. read more

We visited Erik's to buy snowboards for my kids. Dropped by late on a Saturday evening, unaware that they were closing. At almost 6:30, my wife realized that they were supposed to close at 6. Taylor didn't seem to care that we were still shopping. I wasn't being rushed or pushed out the door. I returned several days later after shopping around and I can assure you that you are not treated so well at some of their competition. When I returned, Taylor spent an long time with us reviewing the pros and cons of each piece of equipment that we were looking at. Provided some excellent advice to help my kids get the maximum life from their board by purchasing certain equipment over other stuff. Overall, it was a completely painless experience except for the payment part :) Thanks Taylor for making us feel important and valued.
