I've had this spot bookmarked for some time now but also never noticed that I pass by it fairly often when I work in Miami. Today, I was craving a Banh Mi so I decided to stop by. Tran An is kind of hidden so you don't really see it off of NE 82nd Street. There is a cute and spacious patio area for outdoor seating. The indoor seating is limited and a little smaller in space but totally cute decor. You walk up to the window from the patio area to place your order or go inside and order from same counter area. I ordered the Super Deluxe Banh Mi with roasted pork, lemongrass sausage and OG BBQ pork. All Banh Mi's are served on a French baguette with pate, Maggi butter, pickled slaw and herbs. I also ordered an ube milk coffee. I snagged a mangosteen can drink for later because I have never seen this can drink before and mangosteen is a fruit I enjoyed from my childhood. I stopped into the bathroom because the painting on the wall inside that caught my attention, "Mom, you were were right (ANOUT EVERYTHING)". Haha. I also noticed a cool rose gold pig with sunglasses holding the toilet paper. The bathroom is cute. I sat down at a small booth for two and waited for my food. The menus are displayed in an old school photo album and included photos of the food items and also old family photos of a Vietnamese family, I'm guessing these photos may be the owners? Unique presentation. I loved the family photos for authenticity. My drinks were dropped off to my table first, then my Banh Mi. My ube milk coffee was meh. I had a superb ube Vietnamese coffee with boba at a new spot in town, Jade Tea House. Now that was AMAZING!!! Sorry but this drink in comparison didn't impress me. It was only $3.50 so it's all good. My Banh Mi was delivered pretty quickly, I thought it was weird they served the bread wrapped in an ugly foil wrap. Why mess up a beautiful Banh Mi with this presentation? The Banh Mi is as tasty. The meats had lots of flavor. But the bread was lacking in that authentic Vietnamese baguette with the crunchy exterior and super soft interior. After unwrapping the paper off my Banh Mi, my bread was wet and soggy. Still a tasty Banh Mi but man, you have to have that crunchy baguette. I'd like to come back and sit on the patio and try a few of their other dishes. The menu prices were fair. Not too cheap and not too pricey, even being located in Miami. I love the decor. Please consider serving your Banh Mi's without that ugly foil wrapping, it really just kills the presentation. Maybe consider a cool wrapper or none at all. I spent a weekend in Miami with my boyfriend and was craving some good pho. This place had a lot of five-star reviews claiming it was the best, but it absolutely is not. The broth was completely lacking in flavor, almost as if it hadn't been simmered long enough to develop any depth. The food overall seemed rushed, with ingredients that didn't taste fresh. Came to this spot after seeing a post of Yelp Miami's IG page. It did not disappoint! The restaurant is decorated in such a cute way! So much attention to every little detail! The menus on the tables are in a small photo album they have pictures of the dishes and old family pictures. Even the decoration of the bathroom is done with detail and attention! We loved everything we had. You order at the counter on an tablet and pay directly there. They then bring your food as soon as it's ready. They have a wine option for red, white and rose. You can order the bottle, a split or a glass. Loved the idea of being able to do half a bottle! The owners of Tran An killed it with this restaurant. The food was GREAT... maybe even AMAZING. And the staff matched the taste and quality of the food with their friendliness and hospitality. This is exactly what Miami needed a chill, Vietnamese spot that's not trying to be pretentious or just trying too hard to be cool. The soundtrack they had playing in the background was also fire!!! I think it made everything taste even better. I was immediately greeted when I arrived & that was really helpful because it was my first time there. The shrimp chips were delicious. I had a hard time trying to figure out what they would be and trust me what I imagined wasn't what I received, it was BETTER. They are so puffy and so colorful with a hint of spice. They really do taste like shrimp.. Well duh lol. When you squeeze the lime over them, you will hear the most beautiful crackling sound :) The braised beef banh mi was absolutely amazing. The meat is so tender. I couldn't get over how tender and juicy the meat is. Per the menu, this is what's on it "Tenderly braised beef brisket in 5 spice and lemongrass, served on a toasted baguette, with country pate, maggi butter, pickled slaw and herbs". The pickled slaw helped to add some texture. It is unlike anything I have ever had. The flavors all balanced each other out. I'm unfamiliar with most things on the sandwich so I wasn't sure how it would all taste together, but I am so glad I tried the sandwich as is. They have indoor and outdoor seating. This is such a cute spot where the eats are not only full of flavor, it is filling too! The chicken pho was amazing and I finished all! I couldn't stop dipping my shrimp chips in there. Speaking of the shrimp chips, there's a little sprinkle of some kind of spicy seasoning but I didn't mind it. I just washed it down with the refreshing Yao's Chrysanthemum iced tea. Everything hit the right spot and I am so glad I chose this as my Friday night date night, party of 1 lol. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a spot with GOOD pho. I definitely wanted to try their Bahn Mi but I had to be realistic since it was just me. I will be going back to try it tho. They have a really good playlist on too so you can vibe with friends or by yourself. Word to the wise: I got there fairly early (around 6:30ish) for a Friday night and I had the restaurant to myself and was able to get parking quickly. However, it was poppin' when I left and there was a line by their ventanita (small window). While there is limited table seating indoors, they do have a bar like set up where you can sit on a stool, if you are comfortable with that. They have a few picnic tables outdoors so you can enjoy your meal but I would suggest sitting inside for the ambiance and their super cool lighting. We are visitors from out of town. We came here because of the reviews. I don't typically write reviews unless the food was either really good or really bad. Unfortunately, this was the latter. We ordered two noodle soups. Both were so salty we couldn't finish. The banana dessert was the worst I've ever had. It's really hard to mess this dessert up. The banana was so old it tasted like mush. There was no coconut cream sauce and the taste was off. It was literally so runny like you're eating soup and no taste. The strawberry boba had no strawberries and the boba was hard and old. The vermicelli noodle bowl was pretty much all vegetables and no noodles. I had to ask for side of noodles. Just a review of the Banh Mi's: In short, prices are high, portions are small-ish. You'll need to order more than you think to get full (2 sandwiches for me). The only delicious Banh Mi was the Super Deluxe. The rest were somehow kind've bland no matter how much Sriracha I put on them. They were also quite greasy and soggy. I prefer crunchier bread and more veggies for that crisp freshness I expect from Banh Mi. Tucked away in a strip, you'll find comfort Vietnamese food for all your cravings. I came on their 1 year anniversary and got to try a sampler board. The inside decor was very cool/trendy and perfect for an IG snap. The roasted maitake was my favorite. A delicious seared shroom with a decadent sauce. I am really on the vietnamese pho kick right now. My friend and I were going to another place that we have been to before, but I found Tran An, which is right in our neighborhood. I checked online for review, which were mixed. We stayed, and we ordered the shrimp and pork egg roll. Let's just say they were well done. I ordered the beef pho, and she ordered the Broken Rice Bowl with pork. She did comment that there was not enough pork in her order. My beef pho the broth was not steaming hot like at other places we have tried. The broth was not a rich, flavored beef broth. The meatball was ok but the brisket was delicious. All the veggies were in the bowl when it was brought to the table. I like to add my own, but it was ok. The portion size was small compared to other places. No lime was served, or hot Chili oil was on the table. (I didn't ask) Rose was our server, and she was great. She was attentive and polite. Great job, Rose. It is a very small place with a limited number of seats, but it was cute. While sitting deciding on what to order, we noticed there was a lot of take out traffic. After we sat to the "booth," I noticed the velvet seats were filthy. Really need to upgrade the seats. Can't believe this neighborhood has changed so much! I use to be in this area all the time when my dad had his business here. Walking into here was such a change from the "normal" decor of restaurants. It had funky pieces and colors everywhere and even though its not my style, I dig it. You have a nice menu to go over and I love how they have real family photos inside. They have such a selection of sandwiches with even a vegetarian option, noodles, teas, green papaya salad, imperial and spring rolls, pho and even rice paper rolls. Everything was made to order and you can the see the fresh herbs and seasonings used on the wall in their open kitchen. You can seat in, order, pick up, or use a food delivery service. The place gets packed quick so these options helped. It was my first time having a Vietnamese sandwich and I'm so here for it. For the Yelp Yes meal we got a bahn mi sandwich of choice and with their selection it was hard to choose but you cant beat a classic right? So ordered the classic and a nice cool tea (absolutely Love love loved this!) and shrimp chips came along (I eat these alot as we have an oriental mart close to my home) and had a side order of papaya salad. My first bite of the sandwich was crunchy with the veggies with a thick pork.slice and some sauce. It was the perfect size and I can see myself having this again. Shrimp.chips.are alwaysight and crispy. The tea just went well with it all and was so refreshing. Tran An is a great spot in the Little River Area. Its located in a strip plaza with a few other restaurants. The parking lot was full but I was able to park on NE 2nd. I was there for my yelp Yes! meal so I was sure to mention that upon arrival. I ordered effortlessly at the window. I was taking my meal to go but I was allowed to wait inside the restaurant. I loved the décor of the restaurant. They were playing some good old school rap which is right up my alley. I sipped on a lovely tea while I waited for my meal. The restaurant was very clean and I was able to see the food being prepared which was cool. All of my food was nicely packed for the ride home. I ordered the OG Bánh mì. The bread was fresh and the sandwich was delicious. I do wish it was bigger but the flavors were on point. The chicken vermicelli noodle salad with the Grandma Sauce was a great portion size and satisfying with all the textures and flavors. My meal came with shrimp chips that were fresh and crunchy. Unfortunately lots of things not going well for this place. No wild mushrooms when I came in and dishes with that item was what I was looking forward to. Ordered their lunch special ($18) instead with hot mix noodle soup with charbroiled chicken (pho kho), shrimp spring roll as my side and a Ube Vietnamese Iced Coffee with boba ($8.50). The pho kho tasted sour which I don't think it's supposed to be. Chicken had good flavor and cooked well. The spring roll tasted great and fresh, but was small. The Ube drink was too sweet and the boba is very firm, not soft or chewy. Almost like it was undercooked or been sitting for a while. Service was ok, not bad but not great. Ambiance is unique and subjective to taste so nothing to add there. $31 after tax and tip which feels overpriced for not that much food or quality. Menu pricing might be outdated too cause I thought I saw on there that the pho kho is $11, but maybe that's without protein. Just double check with waiter before you order. read more

This was a decent place, but just not worth the amount of money spent for the little amount of food recieved and the flavors were not there! No wow factor! The restaurant is beautifully decorated w golds and reds. Nice velvety comfy seats w gold accents. Its small and so we didnt dine inside. However, they have nice picnic tables outside w two huge cabana-like umbrellas. It was awesome weather, so outdoor eating was nice, and really much prefered. I was looking forward to coming over here because the reviews read very positively and pictures of the food looked mouth-watering. I had previously studied the menu, so i knew what i was ordering, the shrimp chips, shrimp spring rolls, and the tofu vegan curry. The other members of the party had the Hanoian Pork Noodles w crispy rolls and the Shrimp Vermicelli Noodles. Presentaion is key and my vegan curry was not appetizing and the overall flavors didnt mesh well for me. The spring rolls were good, but you can find them in other asian restaurants. The only one that really enjoyed her meal was the one that orderes the Hanoian. The shrimp chips were a nice treat, but ask for the spicy dusting off, since they add too much. Great staff members who were quick to bring out the meal and drinks. Clean your area when done and take your cutlery/bins to the waste basket.
