Wow! Janeen and her team saved me today! This morning I ran over a large bolt and as a result my left front tire made a loud noise with each tire rotation. I dropped my car off at home for safety and walked to the Trans Shop to see if they had any last minute availability to help me. Without hesitation they coordinated a ride to pick up my car. Unless you want your car to sit for 2 weeks with nothing done to it, don't bother bringing it here. The bonus? After sitting for two weeks they have the balls to tell me "It will be at least three weeks until it's fixed". Lol, yeah ok. I thought I finally found a good shop, and have spent a decent amount there. Meanwhile, I've been doing the car swap thing with the family, assuming they were actually working on my car. Ha! I guess it's my fault for believing their lies. If they weren't able work on it, maybe they shouldn't have told me to drop it off when they did. Bottom line, they used to be really good. I've never had a reason to write a review for auto repair shop - admittedly I know just enough to know I know nothing about cars. This takes the typical mechanic, oh I don't know, say 30 seconds to realize before I suddenly have an exorbitant bill forming in their minds. After moving back to doylestown, I came across Trans Shop and found the reviews convincing. I called and made a quick appointment for an inspection and oil change. They had availability within two days. I dropped my car off at 8AM and it was complete by 10AM. The reviews about this shop are true - the woman at the front desk is very friendly and personable. She celebrated with me when my car passed inspection. As much as I'd like to keep this place my own personal secret, they deserve any extra business they get from a couple of great reviews. read more

This shop is simply amazing! We were in the area on a road trip to visit family, and while pulling out of a parking lot realized with dread that our 2005 Honda CR-V wouldn't shift and was stuck in gear. We found the nearest repair shop, and after running the check engine code they told us our transmission was fried and needed to be replaced. They referred us to the Trans Shop and wished us luck. We pulled into the Trans Shop 10 minutes before closing, the Thursday before Labor Day weekend. Despite how obviously busy they were, someone took the time to immediately check the engine code and take a look under the hood. They were super knowledgeable and, while cautious not to get our hopes up, told us the code referred to a solenoid, which on our car could be replaced without replacing the entire transmission. They asked we leave the car overnight and told us they would do their best to diagnose the problem further and, if possible, fix tit. We were speechless when we got the call at 11:30am the next morning that our car was ready and entirely fixed! It turns out they continued examining the car after hours the night before, confirmed the problem was the solenoid, express ordered the replacement, and had it all installed in a few hours. Given this was the day before a holiday weekend and we had no appointment, the Trans Shop went above and beyond in every possible way. We happily report that we made it back to Montana with no further issues, and we didn't have to alter any of our hotel reservations for the return drive thanks to the amazing service provided by the Trans Shop. Finding a trustworthy repair shop is very important because you are often at their mercy when they tell you that you need something done to your car. This is what I despise MOST about car dealers. I started a relationship with this shop because my car that was not shifting properly. I feared that it would result in a big repair estimate. The cause of this problem was a loose vacuum hose that took 30 seconds to reconnect. There was no bill!!! From that point on, I trusted their honesty. This shop does not know that I know something about cars and I sometimes can tell when someone is blowing smoke to get more money out of you. This is NOT that shop. I have been using them for almost 10 years now and they have been very fair to me. And they do everything...not just Trans work. Another thing that bugs me is that some shops charge for "Shop Supplies". This is just another way to get more money out of the customer and again, this is NOT that shop. To the members of the TransShop if you read this, thank you for your honesty!! It goes a long way in a business where it is difficult to be on the other end of the transaction and that honesty and fairness is what allows me to write this review. read more

I'm sad to say I ended up not getting my car worked on here, but they helped me out big time. I'm from Rhode Island, and my VW Passat broke down in Doylestown, PA. They told me what was wrong, and attempted to fix a hose quickly to see if that helped. Once that didn't work, they still offered to get my car in the next day. Unfortunately, this would not be fast enough- so I drove my (almost entirely) dead car to a VW Dealership nearby. Very disappointed in the trans shop the first day I went in they were more then happy to take my business but after the repair and the over priced payment my car is still having problems, I've taking it back 2 times aready and they still r just pushing my car to the side, the owner john says he wouldn't take a look at it again without payment, when they screwed up the repair in the first place, now they r just giving me the run around when I try to bring it back to get fixed they are "just to busy to take care of it". I started bringing my vehicles to the good people at the Trans Shop on the recommendation of a co-worker. That was over ten years ago. I have a brand new car and wouldn't dream of taking it any where but the Trans Shop even though I have certain free maintenance that came with my purchase. Besides the top notch mechanical work they have done on my vehicle one story says it all. My Honda started stalling even while going 50 mph. Needless to say, that was not something I could have happening even for a day. The Trans Shop got my car in right away and then I got a call advising me to take my Honda to the local dealership for repairs. Evidently the issue with my car was subject of a recall. Had the mechanics at the Trans Shop just fixed my car, I would have never known and would have paid them without a second thought. Their honesty saved me over a thousand dollars. read more

Prior to taking my car to Trans Shop, I had taken it to a dealership and another garage (both long standing in the community). Both advised me that I needed different work that added up to about $2,000 (rear brakes & rotors, cv boot, air bag censor, amongst the most expensive repairs). The trans shop diagnosed my car and advised that I had life left in my brakes & rotors and the cv boot (could wait until my inspection) and cleared the "dummy" lights in my dash which could clear the issue. I paid less than $300 for the repairs and was confident that those were necessary. They treated my car like they would treat their own, getting the most out of the parts and not replacing them early for their own profit. It is WONDERFUL to find an honest garage to whom I will entrust my car. I will definitely go there for all my car repair needs and will recommend my friends and family do the same. It's great to know that repair facilities like Trans Shop still exist. Was having problems with my A/C so it took my vehicle to a local shop in my neighborhood. (I live 30 minutes away from Trans Shop). After a two minute diagnosis I was immediately told that my a/c compressor was "shot" and that then entire system had to be replaced at an approximate cost of $1,400.00-$1,800.00. Shared my issue with a couple friends and they both suggested I take it to John and Jannine at Trans Shop for a second opinion. They've been customers for years and swear by their work, cost fairness and honesty. I don't live in the immediate area but figured I had nothing to lose. Stopped by and discussed my issue and set up an appointment for the following Monday. Got a call Monday where they "picked my brain" some more about the symptoms I was having with the a/c. They explained that they did some tests and found the Freon level to be somewhat low and because the compressor wasn't making any strange noises or other signs of a problem they suggested that they start with the charge and see if that would do the trick. They also explained to me that because it was a cold and rainy day, a/c issues are sometimes difficult to fully diagnose and that there was chance something else could be found once the outside temperature got warmer. I appreciate that they made that clear so there were no false promises. With that, they charged the system and because I didn't have to spend $1,400.00 I was able to get the car inspected while it was there and with several weeks to go before it became due. Whatever happens with the a/c in the future, Trans Shop has a new customer in a three vehicle family. Thanks again Jannine & John. read more
