This shop is completely unethical. I called to ask how much they'd charge for a rebuilt transmission on my 25-year-old car. I clearly explained my situation--that I didn't want to put money into the car, just wanted a price. The guy insisted he needed to see it, saying it could be something else. Thinking it might be a minor issue, I brought it in. All he did was check the transmission fluid level and scan for codes--both things that require no special shop skills. Then he told me I needed a brand-new transmission, not a rebuilt one. The kicker? He charged me $175 for doing almost nothing. If you're planning to have your transmission replaced, maybe they're fine for that. But for me, their customer service is a zero. I checked my own fluid and code scans are free at AutoZone--though I never had a check engine light, so no codes would have shown anyway. To make matters worse, they also charged me for a part I requested a refund for, which was never replaced, and they never refunded me. Terrible way to do business. read more

I drive a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT. It has 34,000 miles. Recently, something was wrong when I would accelerate. Took it to Jeep dealership in Horsham PA, they could not find anything wrong. Took it to a local Ambler garage, could not find anything. Now I'm thinking I'm crazy. But you know your own car and when something is off you know it. My son recommended these guys I was not hopeful. BUT, they called a few day later and said they figured out that the transfer case fluid needed to be changed. Transmission problems are never a good thing. My Acura dealer recommended a new transmission for around $5000, but suggested I try Meehan. Meehan didn't try to sell me on anything. They did their own diagnosis and confirmed the problem before making any recommendations. John Meehan took the time to explain the problem to me and frankly discussed the options and costs. They rebuilt the trans for a considerable savings and they give a three year warranty. They are very busy, but stuck to the timelines given to me to finish the work. The car was clean when returned. They also ask you to return in two weeks so they can do a quick and free examination to make sure all is well. Nice to get old time professionalism and workmanship theses days. Took my truck here. Has a transmission leak had to add almost a whole bottle within a month while waiting to take it in. After having it for over a week and a half they said they can't find no leak. When they were asked if the pan was leaking they stated it doesn't have a pan. Please avoid this business they have no idea what they are talking about read more

It took three weeks to get my car back after being told it would only take a week to a week and a half. I do understand that sometimes there are delays and things happen. However, my car sat there for two days before even being diagnosed. Each time I called for an update I was given inconsistent information. They'd tell me they contacted the warrant company and were waiting to hear back, then the next day they'd tell me they still needed to call the warranty company. Since my last update, I've taken my wife's Mazda 3 to John for a new clutch. Everything went smoothly and I'm very happy with the results. A few days ago, I had an axle fail on the highway. When I got the car back to my house and crawled under it, I found it was the same one that had recently been replaced (3,500 miles) when I had my clutch done at Meenan. I called John and, despite the stated warranty of 90 days on labor, he told me he would do the labor for free and the part would be covered under the manufacturer's warranty. The warranty on the part is all I expected, but John generously offered to do the labor for free as well. Late Sunday night I hear an odd rattle from the car which went away. Monday morning no odd noises but my car had a hard time accelerating and then some rattle on and off. I called 10 places no one had anytime due to it being a Monday. Meenan Transmissions were the only one who said " bring it in and we will try to have a look as soon as the car lift is free ". Only after I reached there did I realize how busy they were. John was very nice and personable. His phone was ringing every two seconds due to being so busy but he still managed to have a proper conversation with me, answer all of my questions politely and put my mind at ease. A couple of hrs later I get his phone call telling me the exhaust had dislocated. They fixed it quickly and it was ready to be picked up soon after. Good and honest Auto mechanics do exist. I had a bad exhaust on my A4 visiting a company in the area having driven from Washington DC. Was already having a bad day and had to mentally prepared to be ripped off by exorbitant charges of repair by any mechanic and possibly straying overnight in the area. Just called the the closest auto repair shop and of John agreed to look into my car. He showed me the broken exhaust and understanding my situation offered to give it a temp fix so that I could go back home the same day. He charged only $20. ....really...i have only known repair shops charge more just to touch your car. I offered to pay $40 to show my gratitude and that he took care of it quickly. he still charged me $20. Really happy to recommend them. read more

First experience was pretty good. I was referred in by my mechanic because I had a sick vibration although slight, the van was running fine other than the vibration. They were prompt, checked out the van and serviced it first vs. doing the bigger job to see if the servicing $125 could take care of the vibration. I appreciate that. I am absolutely blown away by the service I got here! Took my truck in for what I thought was going to be a very pricey transmission repair. When I walked in John immediately said "let's go for a ride." So we hopped in my truck and within seconds he knew it wasn't my transmission. We returned to the shop and he pulled right into a bay to have it inspected. Turns out it was just a cracked heat guard on the exhaust. (Which is actually what he said he thought it was going to be.) He had his tech fix the problem and within minutes I was back on the road. I was told by the Volkswagen dealer that I needed a new transmission in my 2010 CC because the car wasn't going into reverse. This would have cost over $5000. I took the car to John (based on Yelp reviews). First, he promised to look at it right away, even though they were clearly busy. Based on my description of the problem he was optimistic that they would be able to fix my car without replacing the transmission (it needed a new valve body). The job took a while because when the part was delivered to them it wasn't programmed correctly. They had to figure out how to program the part, which took an extra couple of days. I should also add that this was over the Christmas/New Year holiday. John and Nicole are so nice and kept in constant touch (via text) throughout the process. John kept my car another day to drive it and make sure everything was working smoothly. They didn't charge me for the re-programming. My car drives beautifully, and Meenan saved me a ton of money! Took my 2008 BMW 5 series in April for transmission work - they repaired and car ran well. Noticed some spotting on my driveway 4 months later so took it back - pan was cracked and John and his guys replaced it - at no charge. This was a job that took a good 90 minutes of labor, but John's explanation was that they had worked on the car and they stand behind their work - so no cost to me! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. I took my VW here in early October for transmission repair. I received my car back in late February around 5 months after I brought them my car. A transmission shop that cannot find a VW transmission that is used in essentially ALL VWs for close to 10 years, and is also used in some Audi's. BULLSHIT. They spoke to a family member about work, and went behind my back in other work that they wanted to do. I wanted transmission work done. They coned my father into replacing my clutch because it was half way dead (so I had another 40k miles on the clutch), they removed my upgraded brakes because they said they were ceased. They weren't ceased when I dropped the car off, but as the car sat for months they maybe got rusty. They quoted me 700-1600. A bill of 4,000 ! Car wasn't worth anywhere close to that for me. Car sat and sat and sat and sat, meanwhile I was losing money on cab rides, but I did find a transmission every week from December thru the time I received my car back- shitier than I dropped it off. There is more to this story, but I will not deal with this malevolent shop again. read more

Bad car purchase experience. Recommend not to expect accuracy of paperwork, but rather, take the time to check it for accuracy. Constant discussion off task during the experience. Titling and registration are not done at Meenan, recommend you allow more time to complete this process at an outside agency of your choice if electing to purchase a car on the lot. Representative talks way too much and wastes time, redirect attention to stay on task through the entire process to avoid unwanted frustration. read more
