I was having an issue with my 2001 Toyota Tacoma. The stick shift kept popping out of third gear. I was nervous that it was going to be a very costly issue, but I was hopeful it was a cheaper fix involving just the stick shift. There is also always the question of trust when it comes to auto repairs because, I like most people, know very little about the vehicle that I depend on. Transamatic does a general free-inspection that involves them driving your vehicle and maybe some visual inspection. If they have to take stuff apart (your transmission), then it costs money for labor etc. It turned out to be a simpler and cheaper fix involving a part for my stick shift that they were able to detect from just driving. I will definitely bring my vehicle back here if I have issues with my transmission in the future. read more

As solid a shop as they come! Took one of our work trucks in on Friday and it was done on Wednesday. I had heard good things about this shop, and because of how busy my shop was I decided to let them do the work. My clutch blew up and also had some other issues upon inspection, they kept me informed about it. The repairs were originally estimated at about $500 but in the end I payed $2000. The repair seems adequate although I was slightly unhappy about the price, I didn't get an estimate anywhere else so I can't speculate on if it was a fair price. The problem arose when I picked it up. My entire windshield was cracked right across the driver side, which I assure you was not there when I dropped it off. The shop takes pictures of the vehicles when they get them, and apparently the only picture they took was of the grill of my truck? Okay, that's pretty dumb. Also my truck was dirty and there was fingerprints on the windshield where the crack was so I know they noticed it. After that they proceeded to blame me for the cracked windshield, and said the next thing to do was have them get me an estimate on the repair so I could pay more to have them fix it. What the actual f***? I will never return to this shop again, or recommend it. Regardless of if they repaired it right, nobody wants to be called a liar and I should not have had to sit at the shop for an hour arguing with them about a solution. Which, in case you were wondering, the solution was having my own insurance cover it. Also nobody wore a mask at any point, COVID is still a thing guys. There's better shops in Chico to spend your money at, save yourself the headache. read more

Marty and crew saved our vacation! We broke down on I-5 and Marty was able to work us into his schedule the next day, plus recommend a very kind tow truck driver to help us get there. Transmatic were able to quickly diagnose our transmission failure, make cost effective repairs, and even recommended hotels when it looked like we may have to leave the RV overnight. Worst customer service on the planet- by far. They are rude, and they do not care about your business. They flat out said so. I brought my Jeep in for diagnostics, it turns out it needed a transmission rebuild. Ok, no problem. I did not balk at the quote. I accepted their findings and did not go elsewhere. I tried to schedule an appt. They do not take appts. You have to drop off your car and "get in line" and they get to it when they get to it. If it's not "in line" it doesn't get worked on. They told me they would have my car for two weeks. What?! I live 25 miles from the shop, so I asked if there was any way I could drop it off the day before it was worked on or if there was any way possible to shorten the time my car is just sitting their idle. I even offered to pay the $3800 UP FRONT. Andrew, (son of owner), literally said I was a problem customer (exact words) and told me to go elsewhere. This was after I already waited a month for an appt with them for diagnostics, then when I tried to schedule the work, they showed their true colors. They could give a whoop about their customers. They do NOT deserve to be in business. The attitude of "they are doing us a favor" just resonates with their every word. This is a first for me. I have never left a negative review before. The city of Chico and outlying communities deserve MUCH better. It will be interesting to see how they respond. I'm sure they won't be self reflecting and realize that's not the way you treat customers - or anyone. They'll probably reply with a rude, curt or disparging remark. read more

My 2000 Isuzu Trooper had a transmission rebuild by another outfit that cost me $4,000+ and lasted all of 2 years and 20K Miles before going out again. Transamatic rebuilt it again this week with a guarantee of 3 years or 100K miles for $1,000 less. They also let me know that a couple of other things needed attention that they don't do. Had exceptional service here! I thought my transmission had gone, but it ended up being my clutch and front axel. I wasn't charged for labor to dismantle the transmission because they only charge for labor when they end up fixing that part.
