I hate waiting for a car to be repaired at a shop, which is why I try to do as many things myself as I have tools and expertise. But I do know my limitations. I had been unable to pinpoint where the a/c was leaking on my car; under black light, the evidence of leaked refrigerant was too widespread. Oroville Motors' specialty is a/c, it turns out. I took the car in, and Rich was able to look at it right away. It didn't take long for him to find the source of the leak, a defective valve in the high pressure port. It took longer for him to retrieve a small tool he dropped! With a recharge of the system, I got the inside of my car cool again, just in time for the early May heat wave! read more

Normally we go to Lakeside Auto but Ernie was out of town so my husband took our truck in last week to get the ac charged, met the owner who he had a lot of good to say about. Well, 3 days later the truck was down again for a faulty fuse, no big deal but when he got in the AC wasn't working again. Took it to Oroville Motors today as the owner said if there was any problems bring it back he would take care of him. Owner was not there but the guy who was working on it hooked it up to the machine but didn't turn it on, or look at any parts & said we shot dye in so I'll look under to see if it leaked, came up and said there was dye all over the compressor and it was shot, I knew they didn't put dye last week, i was there the other whole time but let him continue, telling me $1800 to replace it all. Left, went to Ernie & he went under and said it was clean so he proceeded to take the right steps to figure it out and came to the conclusion my compressor was not even coming on, checked the fuse and yep, $2 fuse! What a guy! I highly DO NOT recommend oroville motors. Nice owner but shady employees. read more

They write in documentation "per request" when they try to upsell you services that you don't need. Specifically they told me my car was leaking steering fluid, bit couldn't show me tye reservoir and said it was an internal one. Come to find out it was electric, there was no reservoir to leak. The main sells person is very good at double talk amd walks back many statements when pressed. Trust them if you want but check your paperwork, if it says, "per your request" you were likely duped. Another example, they said myn a.c. system had an issue, while I was there to only get it charged, my response was, I go to Ford regularly and they never said I have an issue. read more

Seriously the best place I have ever taken my vehicle (2013 Chevy Malibu) into. They were fast, friendly, and honestly being a female, and a parent, most car places know they can rip you off because you have to pay no matter what to ensure your car is working and safe. This place DID NOT overcharge me at all, and the price was HALF of what I figured it would be. I will never go anywhere else. For AC, oil, a tune up or service. I will always go and recommend here to anyone!! All the guys here were amazing, and understanding and totally didn't judge for how dirty my car was, or how some filters had never been changed, or my oil isn't full, anything. I took my 2006 Dodge Charger in to get the water pump replaced. They refused and stated that I should go to a local dealer and that they didn't want to mess with my car to fix it, being they don't have the right technology or ability in their shop to run such major diagnostic testing and that my 2006 Dodge Charger is too advanced for the likes of Oroville Motors. I will never go back and I will tell anyone who asks me about this shop that they are not advanced enough to work on cars near or around the age of my 2006 Dodge Charger. read more

When I was rear-ended at a stop light here in Oroville I didn't know where to go. I live on Lincoln Blvd so I went to Oroville Motors. They looked at my car not knowing how bad the damage was, took it into the shop, took down the other person's insurance info that I had written down and called them, called Hertz for me and a VERY nice rental car was delivered to their shop within 30 minutes. My car ended up being totaled so I had the rental for over 2 weeks until I got $$ for my car and was able to buy me another used car (I didn't have anything fancy). They also do mechanical work, A/C charging, all kinds of stuff, even on Sat & Sun. They are really nice and make you feel comfortable, not a bunch of pervert guys leering at you. I would recommend them to ANYONE. I'm not well -off, so it's not like I got special treatment due to having money. I make $1,000 a month and had a 1992 model car. Rich helped me by servicing my a/c in an attempt to diagnose a problem that turned out to be more expensive than I was willing to spend (my little Jetta is just a hand me down beater). of course, Rich agreed that it would be a bad investment. I visited Oroville Motors, Inc., for the first time on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 10:45 am. with my 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan, 3.3L, (110,000 miles) to have the air conditioner serviced and check for coolant leakage. I met with service manager, Raymond Carpenter. Once the van was up on the rack, it was discovered that my radiator and oil pan had a leak. The transmission also required maintenance. Mr. Carpenter was extremely helpful in pointing out and explaining what maintenance and repairs were required. I picked up my van on Tuesday, August 26. Had my vehicle towed here, vehicle wouldn't start. Took a while just to talk to someone while the tow driver was waiting to drop the vehicle off. Good news turned out the issue was just the battery, bad news they charged me $353.57 to replace it along with the terminals and clean off some corrosion on the wires and around the battery. I am originally from Oroville and now live in the Bay area. I was home visiting my parents when my air conditioning in my car stopped working! I knew that I should take it in somewhere around Oroville to save some money before returning to San Francisco (and to save me from the sweltering Central Valley heat). I called the day before to make an appointment and Raymond was extremely friendly and accommodating and told me to bring it by and he would squeeze me in. When I brought it in, he knew exactly who I was and fully communicated everything he was looking for and he explicitly stated his thought process and the options I had in taking care of the matter. He was never condescending, but very informative. I felt like I had a family member taking care of me and looking out for my needs. After learning that I lived in San Francisco he said that if I ever needed advice or work done, he would be able to pick my car up in Sacramento to check it out. How hospitable!
