I'm 71 years old and halfway through the 6 month Transform Program and my life is already so much better. I received a phone call at 4 am. yet again. I worked with Maggie Yu 9 years ago when she had a medical practice. When patients call wanting their money back or to discuss their credit card transactions, they call me because that is the information that still shows on their credit card transactions. ME, who has not worked with this woman for over 9 years. I am starting to question why she has not removed my phone number from her banking information. Does she not want these calls? I really wanted to give this a try. I think Dr. Maggie has some insight, but I had a bad experience with her office. My first connection with Dr. Maggie's team was through the contact form on her website. I received a text soon after that - and eventually had a call with a pre-screener. She was nice and scheduled an informational Zoom call with another person. When I tried to text follow-up questions beforehand (especially about running a few minutes late), I didn't get a response back until after the meeting, though. When I finally did jump on Zoom, Dr. Maggie met with me - which was a good surprise (to not only me but also the pre-screener who texted back after the call). Dr. Maggie can be a bit forceful, but I've met lots of people over the years who are smart and confident and can sometimes seem overbearing. I was still willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. She asked me to give her my credit card number. To my surprise, she charged my credit card by the next day - even before I had signed the contract that she said would be sent to me. I finally signed the contract several days later after receiving it. It's written in a way that doesn't give the client a lot of wiggle room, but I really wanted to try the program. So, I texted Katherine from her team a lot of questions to confirm I would be limited to only (only?) a $10,400 investment despite the contract indicating more could be charged on a subscription basis after that. Since the program is 60 days, I confirmed I could end any subscription after four $2600 installments, which would at least limit the damage if this group lacked integrity or follow-up. Katherine then told me to look for an orientation email from her team, and test kits would be mailed to my home shortly. As a busy business owner, I didn't have a chance to look for the orientation email until today (more than nine days after I signed the contract). Since there was no orientation email in my inbox, I got nervous and tried to see if there was a phone number for her company online. I found one that basically said she's no longer in private practice. Contact our website instead. At this point, I was really concerned about the integrity of the business and contacted my credit card company to see if I should dispute the charge. Chase said there was a phone number on the statement line to call. I called that number (which wasn't for Maggie Yu or her business) and hung up. A person from that phone number called back and said she worked for Dr. Yu's office for six months, never authorized her number being referenced on credit card charges for Dr. Maggie, and had requested through Facebook that this info be removed. Seemed like a reasonable request. Instead, she told me that Dr. Maggie's team deleted her post and eventually blocked her from their Facebook group. I eventually found a number that turned out to be Dr. Maggie's direct number. After lots of dead ends, I was shocked to discover I had her cell number but decided not to leave a message because it was too early. I also wanted to work with her team first to get the necessary info to feel assured that the organization has integrity - especially due to some negative comments online about Dr. Maggie and her previous medical practice. Anyway, I texted Katherine and reached out to the support team by email and the contact form in the AM. Since I was having difficulty receiving timely communications most of the time, I thought this might be the best way to ensure clarity today. Well, I just looked at my cell phone and received a voicemail and text message saying that they were canceling my registration in the program and refunding my initial installment of $2600. I'm definitely pleased that they ended my subscription before it started! I want to mention that Katherine said I would receive an orientation email soon after signing the contract. I never received anything for 11 days - even in my spam folder - until contacting them today. She also said the tests would be coming to my home shortly. Instead, today I received an email saying that the tests wouldn't be sent to me until sometime between the first and second week of the program - which meant I might not have clear diagnostic info until about a month into the program. In summary, I wasn't sure if Dr. Maggie's office was disorganized - or there was an integrity issue at play. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt - as long as they followed up in a professional manner - and simply apologized if they had any admin hiccups. But charging my card before signing a contract & listing a former employee's phone number on charges were red flags. It pains me to write this, because I initially believed in the program. I learned quite a lot about blood work and hormones in the beginning. Learning from others was inspiring and beneficial. But after about a month or so, it became clear that if you don't agree with Dr. Maggie at all times, she will shred you. She is an abusive person who should not be in the public health space. I also realized that the program was very cookie cutter and the ultimate goal was about making even more money on the gut health program and marked up supplements. Supplements were recommended based on labs, but the personalization piece of the program lasts about 5-10 minutes per call. That is clearly not enough time to really figure out what people are dealing with. I tapped into my savings to pay $12K for the program and now regret joining. The entire experience has left a very bad taste in my mouth. When I had my initial call with a salesperson, and he was a salesperson, he said: Several people join because of what you're dealing with and so many see their issues drastically improve in just a few months. Even though I mentioned gut issues, he never told me that gut issues are dealt with in the 2nd portion of the program, which costs another $5,000 on top of the initial $8,000. I sadly agree with other critiques on yelp. Dr. Maggie is hardcore, abusive, rude, and extremely insensitive. If you are not on top of your game, you do not agree with her 100%, you do not remember what she teaches you, she doesn't approve of what you say, or you question her, she will shred you to pieces in front of 40+ other people. I watched several people cry or become visibly uncomfortable on several calls. It was especially painful to see her criticize, yell at, and shred people who are in a vulnerable space, have brain fog, and are clearly sick. I truly regret not sticking up for them. If she abused you, I'm so sorry. Watching her staff sit in silence was also horrible to watch. She also uses the call as a space for her to vent and have a therapy session. Then there's the money. $12K is an obscene price to pay for what you get. Dr. Maggie also pushes supplements to every single person in the program. Looking back, she recommended I take 21 supplements. 21 supplements is insane. I am very familiar with integrative doctors and high quality supplements, so I decided to look up the ingredients in her supplements, which carry her label. I found the very same supplements for a far cheaper price on Fullscript, the site I've used with past doctors to buy supplements. They are the same supplement. The only difference is her label and the price markup. I can understand a $5-15 price markup, but some supplements were marked up $20-30 or more. That adds up when you're buying 10 or more supplements. The same goes for labs. You can find the food allergy test and a nutritionist to go over the results for a far cheaper price on your own. Once again, I really felt for people who spent so much money on her supplements and labs. Dr. Maggie is also dogmatic and leads people to believe that she's the only doctor who "gets it." This is simply not true, but don't you dare disagree with her or you will be shut down. There is no room for debate, even when what you bring up is backed up by science. Again, it pains me to write this, but I don't want you to spend your hard earned money on a program that will leave you with regrets. I'm especially concerned about people in a vulnerable state. This program has healed many (you can see the success stories on YouTube), but I am very sad, disappointed, and disheartened after seeing so many people desperate for healing join this program and not get better. After going through the Transform program myself (4 months of several weekly meetings with the team) and seeing the experiences of several others, I highly DO NOT recommend this program or Dr. Maggie to ANYONE. Be careful before you invest your money! Expect to spend thousands upon thousands on the program (and more importantly, supplements) and possibly not get better. This is the case with several functional medicine programs (I have done about 4-5 myself), however the biggest issue here is the way Dr. Maggie treats people (her clients and her staff). This is a one size fits all approach, and they don't have the time or desire to help each individual on the level that is really needed. If you follow the mindset work instructions/homework and actually set healthy boundaries for yourself (which may involve speaking up for yourself and others when they are talked down to in a very condescending way), you may find yourself removed from the program. I will say that they let me go in a fair way financially. Dr. Maggie acts like she cares, but if you are intuitive, you'll pick up the fact that she doesn't care about anyone but herself. I know we all have a story that makes us who we are, and we should have compassion for others, but I don't have compassion for her after seeing how she treats people. If you don't follow like a sheep and you can't stand to see people mistreated, this program isn't for you. If she doesn't like you or your personality or if your problems are too big for her to handle she will belittle you and make you feel really bad about yourself. After implementing the changes I ordered a second lab kit, this time from the lab itself, to retest my hormones. I discovered their kits were $100 less. For people suffering from AI issues, stress itself is a trigger. Imagine how stressful it is that you're suffering from health problems conventional medicine hasn't been able to cure, to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars for a course that may/may not work for you, and she wants to recover the money she spent on her med school education. I did both the transform and the 360 programs. I cannot disagree with previous reviews regarding Dr Maggie's tendency to cut people off when they are talking. However, there are some people who take some time to express themselves and in a group forum this is difficult for others on the same Zoom call. Dr Maggie sometimes reacts to these situations but she has indicated that she doesn't mean to be rude and hopefully she keeps working on this. 1. Yes the course is expensive. 2. Yes the first part of the course is pretty basic for those of us with some knowledge of health. However lots of people lack the basics and you have to start a course with the basics. 3. Yes the tests are marked up. She is running a business! That's what business owners do. Afterall someone from her company has to order and keep the records. 4. So what exactly does the course offer? - Let me count the ways! I was desperately sick for 3 years and I didn't care about the money. I could hardly think. The conventional doctors and even integrative doctors and naturopaths had no answers despite various tests. I was getting more and more bedridden and couldn't work. I started Dr Maggie's course and I didn't need to attend the nutritional aspects of the course because of my prior knowledge. But it was the testing that took the cake. My previous doctors had ordered tests and recommended supplements but nothing was changing!!! In fact I don't think they could interpret them properly! And **** The big Win!! **** Dr Maggie provides learning modules to study to be able to interpret the tests!! Where on earth could I have gotten this knowledge?? Especially when my brain was foggy and dizzy. As each test was done, nothing was standing out as an issue for me BUT Dr Maggie's insistence on good digestion and not having low levels of nutrients was a foundation. As she said something like " you can be eating good food but if you're not absorbing it then it's useless". And she laughed at MY IMPATIENCE, not because she was being rude but because she said that had been her problem as well. So as time went on I felt worse in some ways but gradually I was having some good moments. I paid to do the Optimizer 360 program and the stool test was amazing. It was similar to one my naturopath had ordered but Dr Maggie explained almost everything that was in it! Wow. And I had spent hundreds of dollars in the past with supplements to kill bad gut bacteria but nothing had worked. Dr Maggie pointed out what I had to do and insisted on a 12 week cleanse. And again my impatience had me whinging at the 8 week mark but then magically at week 10 of the gut cleanse things started to change. So before I write too much for people to read, I will sum it up that if it had not been for Dr Maggie's course I would not have gotten better so quickly. A key takeaway is that Dr Maggie teaches you how to engage your primary health practitioner (or GP) with so much more confidence and rapport which is a skill for life not just for one visit. I don't regret doing the course at all. Do I have ongoing problems- yes, but I'm 65 and there is some permanent damage to some organs etc that are way outside of this course. There is not enough time, labs or care spent with patients on their health. She pushes supplements for more income, not like you aren't paying an arm and a leg for the program in the first place. She does YouTube videos on why you should give her your money. They don't have any real customer service. Once they have your money and they aren't pressuring you to join they quit responding to you. If they do respond its usually rude. The program is a waste of time and money. Please seek help elsewhere. I did the main program and am currently in Optimizer, I thank Transform so much for getting me out of the worst health crisis I've ever had. I had POTS, & Dysautonomia. Life went from happy and healthy and thriving to bed ridden. My regular doctor didn't know how to help me - he was going to send me bouncing from specialist to specialist. I took a chance and my POTS recovered in the first program (everyone is different but I didn't have previous known health issues - my POTS came on after a gut treatment by another practitioner & RONA). I signed up for her $9 K Transform autoimmune naturally program on line. Everyone on her team was super nice except for Dr. Maggie. I found her to be rude, insensitive, disrespectful and even hurtful. On the last day of class I waited until it was almost time to end and she asked if anyone had any questions before we wrapped. I didn't even complete my sentence before she jumped down my throat for not respecting her boundaries. The question was unrelated to what was just discussed, but was related to autoimmune and I waited until the very end to ask it out of fear she would go off on me a second time for asking a question. It was totally uncalled for. She could have answered my question and showed compassion, but instead went on a tirade that was the most publicly humiliating 5 minutes of my life! I later read many on line reviews that felt the same way about her. For a doctor acting as a health coach, she lacked empathy. She demands everyone respect her, yet she doesn't extend that courtesy to her students/patients.
