I went to Transmasters today to get a diagnostic on my car because my D light was blinking intermittently. Sam was kind knowledgeable and patient with my many questions . Ultimately, my car had a general code related to the transmission p700, I believe , but because nothing specific came up and no problems were noted in the drive test , he suggested I take it back to my mechanic for a transmission fluid service only. My transmission had a axle seal leak on the driver side due to a bad bushing. I took it to another shop and they tried to charge me over 1300 for a leak claiming they had to disassemble my entire transmission in order to fix it which is not true. I found out about transmasters and they fixed the issue for more than half the price and the right way. There price is very reasonable and Sam is very honest and will not try and upcharge you on anything. My vehicle, Ford F-150 2011 ecoboost. I had a fluid leak leading into the driver side turbo. I'm new to the area, so trying to find a mechanic that was honest has been difficult. I brought my car into this place a few weeks ago for a strange noise and transmission light that came on. Nothing could be found wrong with the transmission, but I was told my entire AC system was failing and needed replacement ASAP for $2,200. I have since taken my car to two other auto shops who have confirmed the AC is fine and instead the noise is caused by drive belt pulleys. Not only is he professional and well priced but he is honest and of high integrity. He fixed the aftermarket transmission in our 2006 Infiniti G35 for less than I expected, communicated the issues clearly, and also repaired the front end control arms, which were broken, scary, and dangerous. A happy biproduct of his repairs was that the Low Tire Pressure light finally turned off after more than 3 years when 2 other mechanics told us it would have been $800 to fix the sensor, which was not even the problem. read more

Customer service was terrible. Very unprofessional and unpleasant. I scheduled a diagnosis because my car wasn't starting right. First, I scheduled it for 8am. They didn't look at it till noon, didn't call me to tell me the problem till 2:30pm. They said it was the battery and that it'd be $500 for replacing a $200 battery. I told them I'd change it myself and the guy acted very unprofessional and got upset. He left my key in the car with the window down in the parking lot. I highly recommend Sam. I would rate him 10 starts if I could. My car is 2014 Lexus ES350. It has 73k miles on it. A couple weeks ago it started to jerk when I tried to accelerate after stopping at the light/stop sign. I brought my car to an auto shop. They changed the transmission oil and didn't fix the problem. They quoted me $4500 to replace my transmission with an used one. I don't believe that the transmission can fail that early on a Lexus. So I took my car back and bring it to the Lexus dealer in Kearny Mesa. They took the car in and find the receipt from the auto shop. They immediately came to the conclusion that the auto shop used the wrong oil, and damaged the transmission. That's why my car has a problem. I left my car with them for inspection, which costed me $190. They called me and said my transmission failed because of the wrong oil, and I need to replace it. The cost of replacing transmission is $7000 something. Or I can trade my car in, and they will pay me $8000. 2014 LEXUS ES350: $8000.... Smh. I was really stressed out, because either way, repairing or trading my car in to get a new car, would cost so much money. Plus, on the service's receipt they handed me back, I couldn't find anything relevant to transmission inspection. They inspected the battery, tire pressure, reset the lights... that's all (attached is the receipt from Lexus dealer) Yet, somehow my transmission failed and I need to replace it with a new one. It was so fishy and I didn't feel right about it. So I took my car back again. It was the whole 2 weeks of back and forward to the shop and the dealer, you have no idea how frustrated it was. I found Sam on Yelp. And I can't say enough how grateful I am finding him. Sam fixed my car. It was the pressure sensor that failed. (Nothing wrong with the transmission. Imagine if I replaced the new transmission, the problem would still be there )It costed me so much less replacing the sensor. Sam is very honest, and transparent. He kept me posted, he let me know all step of the way, what he did, what he saw and how to fix the problem. No BS, no game, just honest answers and hight quality work. What I like most is the way they show/explain the issue the car is having and potential solution. They have done very job on oil change service. My car(Camry 2013 LE) runs very smoothly after the service. This is the first time I've this smooth drive after an oil change service. I took both of my cars (Odyssey and Civic) to this service center. For 2006 Honda Odyssey I got the 80K miles service done, this car was always used very infrequently and also was less maintained. I took it to Transmasters and I am very happy with the service rendered on the car. He inspected the car and came up with the bare minimum stuff to be done for my car which included rear shocks. After the service I took my car for several long drives and it felt like driving new car again. When my car started getting old I needed to find a very reliable service center and I am glad I found this through a friends referral. On my 2011 Honda Civic my rear door automatic locks stopped working. While I was getting the service done, I got my door locks fixed. At first I thought both the locks were bad, but he inspected and told me only one lock is broken and the others he adjusted to get it working. Both the visits were wonderful, I am going to go to this service center for rest of my car needs. One fantastic thing about this center is Sam quickly explains what the issue is through a very quick sketch on a white board in layman terms. read more

It would be nice if all mechanics were like Sam. I was experiencing some hard shifting all of a sudden so I took my 1994 Ford bronco to get it serviced at another shop. I was told my transmission was shot. I needed a brand new transmission. My truck is old enough that it doesn't have the port for Computer diagnostics. I wasn't so quick to accept that. I noticed Trans Masters had good reviews on yelp so I drove it there. Sam ran through a few possibilities with me and in a hour or 2 he had it all figured out. I was so relieved. Some real trouble shooting without a computer and a high price tag. It shifts so smooth it feels brand new. If you are considering working on your transmission this is not the place after I take my car there for diagnostics ( CODE: P0741) I have been informed that I need a new transmission and/or need to be rebuilt. which the code was saying the problem was Solenoids. the manager Sam Muniraj told me the memorized script and that if I drive car transmission will burn down and it can happen middle of the road and pay for towing not pass the smoke etc all the scare tactics asked for almost $7000 for the repairs, I have paid for diagnostics ( Completly WRONG) about $150 and since I had my doubt about him and transmasters I took take my car to another transmission shop and just working on solenoids and some seals my car was fixed i have saved over $6000 just because I did not fall for his wrong diagnostics, Personal opinion scare tactics wrong diognostics and not sincere service I DO NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE to take their car there and taking advantage of SCUMBAG Manager SAM Muniraj read more

I took my car into Transmasters because I had felt like it was good service when I had taken it in about a year ago. I was quoted way over the market value for brakes. When I informed the manager that I was coming to pick up my car after it had been estimated and evaluated, he told me that he would not give me back my car unless I paid 92 dollars. "This fee will be applied to your services once you bring it back." No service was performed on my car, and I was charged 92 dollars. Well, I saved over 2,000 dollars by going to another mechanic. They definitely use scare tactics to get you to pay. He called me at 4:45 the day prior (they close at 5) asking me to choose which service I wanted done on the car. He told me that my battery would die any day now (not true) and that a bunch of other things were wrong with the car. Do not recommend! My car got a new life, thanks to Transmasters!! I drive a 11 year old car and I recently had the check engine light and "AT" light come on at the same time. The transmission would not shift after 3rd gear. I took my car to another service station nearby (supposed to be very good with transmissions). They told my transmission needs a rebuild and gave me a quote for $2500. I was contemplating whether to rebuild or buy a new car since it was costing more than the resale value. Meanwhile, I was shopping around for transmission rebuild and that's when I found Transmasters. When I spoke to Sam, he suggested that I drop off the car and let him do the diagnosis first. It turned out that the transmission was fine, the onboard computer is what went bad so it was sending incorrect signal to the transmission. It costed much less to replace the onboard computer and my car is running like new now!! I am completely blown by the honesty and knowledge Transmasters brings to it's customers. This place is AWESOME! Sam ROCKS! I was experiencing some issues with my transmission and initially went to my mechanic of several years. He charged me a $100 inspection fee and told me I had no option but to swap out my transmission for a new one for over $4500. I went in to Transmasters to get a second opinion and dealt with Sam. He offered free inspection/diagnosis of the vehicle. Since I couldn't stay for the inspection to complete, Sam took pictures & made videos of the parts that were causing the issue and sent them to my phone - I was pleasantly surprised by the transparency. No guesswork, I could actually hear the noises and see what was broken in those videos. Turns out, I did not need a new transmission. He explained me my options in great detail and gave me all the time I needed to decide on how to move forward. Transmasters fixed the problem for a fraction of the price (literally fraction of the price). I haven't seen this level of service at any workshop in San Diego. I've been to countless shops for getting work done on my 90s Jeep. Been screwed over countless times for a different reasons. Thankfully, I don't have to worry about nonsense anymore after choosing Transmasters. I generally maintain and work on my own vehicles but, ran into a few issues that were difficult to pinpoint and solve when it came time for smog testing. I was hesitant at first to just walk in the door and hand Sam my keys and am glad to say that Transmasters did some solid work fixing check engines codes, repairing emissions equipment, and getting me on my way to a successful stop at the smog station.
