Waste of your money and time. The food was obviously frozen and then reheated, they serve instant mashed potatoes, the beverages were watery, the salad was from a bag, the soup was watery and fatty (how does that happen??), and to top it all off, IT WAS AN ARM AND A LEG. Trappers has the best pie I have ever had in my life. I would recommend it for that reason alone. The coconut cream is my favorite. But any flavor will do. Food was average for the cost. Service was just ok. All 3x we've been there seems that the staff is more interested in socializing with the regulars than trying to make the new customers regulars. Love salads & order a side salad. Nothing but iceberg lettuce with a couple tomato & cucumber slices. More gravy &/ sauces than food. I can put up with poor to average food. However, being of the food service industry most of my 30+ adult years, I can't & WON'T put up with poor to average service. Oh, & the one time, the waitress was even in the far section of the diner, chatting it up with some other clearly regulars, our order was clearly called, & it had been about time for her to come check on it. Took her almost 5 minutes after the order was called to even come out of that room. Then she proceeded to talk with some more regulars. Leaving our hot food, meatloaf & biscuits & gravy, sitting there for another 2-3 minutes. We are the semi warm & WAY OVER sauced food. Knowing that third strike, your out. We had complained the last 2x & LITERALLY were blown off. Not even apologized to or treated like the staff was sorry. As for the ambiance. This was the best thing going for Trappers. We live in Snowflake & REALLY try to & like shopping local. However, don't think Trappers will be one of those we try again. read more

So Trappers is a really really cute place! I love this small town. So my first time going to Trappers was like going out for an ice cream cone when I was younger. The thrill and excitement. The sandwiches were delicious and amazing. No complaints But the deboned chop meal was another thing. So the chop was really good, but the sides tasted like canned or jarred food, the mashed potatoes were instant potatoes. That was a little disappointing. But overall I'd go again. My boyfriend I were coming through town on our way to flagstaff and stopped by this little cafe. It was so nice, service was great. We rated this cafe 4/5, however, we both agreed that the German chocolate pie we ordered deserved a 5/5! We would recommend eating here any day of the week. :) read more

Burgers were great (FYI, served with Mayo - not a fan)! Server immediately got me another bun without mayo! It was fresh ground beef and not pre-made patties! This was our first time in, as we were in town for only a bit, passing through. It was recommended by friends that were with us, and had eaten there before. It did not disappoint. Thanksgiving is in two days and they were in full Pie mode. Pies looked wonderful, although we didn't order any. Servers were happy and friendly. This cafe is one of those hidden gems! Open 6am-8:30pm. Your dinners come with a roll, vegetables, choice of potatoes and a soup or salad. The food is definitely homemade and the flavors are divine! The chicken fried steak is huge! The chicken and rice soup was homemade and delicious! My husband and could have split the dinner and we would have had room for dessert. We split a cherry pie slice and the flavors were incredible! They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive. This place has gone down hill. I'm all about supporting a local family owned business but they have let that restaurant go down the drain. Who charges someone EXTRA for French fries when you order a hamburger?? The quality of the food is also gross and very over priced. Its just not like it used to be. Was very excited to go and try this restaurant out since the reviews seemed to be good. None of the meals come with anything, no sides nothing. The prices were not comparable to other cafes in the area at all. After ordering and the food came we never saw our waiter until we finally got up and went to the cash register. The food was mediocre at best, the burger was dry. I asked for some BBQ sauce which they charged me an additional 1.32 for. All in all last time I'll go there, no reason to lower my standards there are far better cafe choices close by. read more

Driving from the route from Holbrook to Globe took us right through the town of Taylor. Thinking back a few years I remembered someone recommended a place to get good pie in Snowflake or Taylor. We weren't very hungry but we knew we could eat some pie. My wife had a piece of apricot pie with ice cream and I a piece of peanut butter cream. Scrumptious! Excellent crusts, as well. We were driving through and decided to stop for lunch. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak. This always makes me nervous because we're from the south and southerners are very picky about their chicken fried steak and he is no exception. I've even started a list of restaurants where he thought the chicken fried was awful. This is definitely not on the list. He really enjoyed it and wants to come back for more! I had the turkey melt and fries and also wasn't disappointed. The sandwich had a large amount of turkey on it and was delicious. The fries were crispy on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside. The flavor was great. I took half of my lunch in a takeout container so I'd have room for a piece of their banana cream pie. Like the rest of the meal it was yummy. I think the real star of Trappers Cafe is the pie. If you go here, get pie. It should be mandatory. There are baked pies to go, seasonal pies, tons of pie. And the pie is good. Really, really good. I had a blueberry cream pie- wow. Just, wow. My dad got a pumpkin cream pie. They were just out of this world good. The food I had was good too, a couple of misfires. I opted for a soup- tomato macaroni. It was lukewarm, but tasty in texture. I had the small portion of BBQ beef and it was a TON. I swear, a lot of meat. So good, so tender. There were green beans which were okay. My dad had a grilled chicken which he said was very good. It looked pan grilled, slightly breaded. This is a place for a lot of locals I imagine. This is an experience like none other. It's Saturday evening May 21st around 4:30 pm. Our power went out so we drove from Snowflake to Trapper's restaurant in Taylor Arizona. This restaurant's been around a long time so I expected a more. First off, the menu is average, with nothing unique, but I can tell you from the 50 plus years in the food service industry nobody puts brown gravy on chicken fried steaks. We ordered the fried cod dinner with a cup of soup and a chef salad. When the soup arrived it was immediately set aside. After tasting it I couldn't believe somebody would serve something like that. It was a cream soup with chunks of potato the size of your thumb and bacon bits. However, they did not completely finish cooking out the flour and it tasted like flour and water. The waitress gladly exchanged it for a side salad. After the salad was finished we waited approximately 30 minutes. Finally, the waitress came over and said oh I'm really sorry we're out of cod. Needless to say we left but we left the waitress a tip cuz none of it was her fault. If the owners of Trappers in Taylor Arizona read this then they should seriously consider finding some assistance. Strange little place to say the least. We were maybe 1 of 4 tables in the restaurant and it took awhile for us to get our order taken. Huge portions for the country fried steaks. Had a side salad which consisted of many brown parts. Dressing was good. Wouldn't go back but I wouldn't say avoid it either lol read more

Best pies and best burger in the white mountains!!! Their peanut butter pie is to die for and the burger comes with only mayonnaise on it and the rest is left to the side to build yourself. Trappers has been around since I was just little. It has always been good and it still is one place that we love to go to as a family. Their burgers are so awesome and their salads are without match! Breakfast is great and you never leave hungry. The service is decent and easy to over look because of the great food and the warm atmosphere. Always a must stop when you are in the area. read more
