Open face roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes. Comes with green beans, removed because my lunch companion doesn't like them.

Burger with fries - yummy. Open faced roast beef - alright. We walked in after a hike at the Petrified Forest, so we were hungry. We were greated by the friendly staff and stopped us right by the pies. They all looked yummy! We chatted a bit & then removed ourselves to a booth. Waitress was very nice. Brought a carafe of cold water. A big plus in my book - Trappers has both Coke products and Pepsi products. This girl was happy with their offering of Coke Zero! This place is an old time staple in Taylor. Nothing extra special about the decor or restaurant itself except the friendliness of the staff and hearty, stick to your ribs food. And you better believe we walked away with homemade pie to go.

Passing through Taylor yesterday, I stopped for an epic slice of lemon cream pie. Not only was it delicious, but the staff was as nice and engaging as any cafe I've ever stopped at. So this morning I returned for a down-home breakfast, and was again treated with smiles and a terrific meal. Very reasonable pricing and plenty of food to enjoy. Treat yourself to Trappers Cafe! I'll be returning again.

Absolutely love this place! Great little restaurant with a wide variety of foods & amazing pies! Friendly helpful staff, fast service, clean and relaxing environment. Foods to try: All of them, but specifically: -Country fried steak in brown gravy -Roast beef & gravy (smoked onsite) -French dip -Fries! Fries! Fries! (amazing) All salad dressings are tasty & fresh-made onsite too I don't have a specific pie recommendation, but get there early before the popular seasonal ones, like Pumpkin Cream, run out. If you're too late, get a different pie or two, they are all excellent!

Old school breakfast spot that serves up delicious food every time. Their pies are phenomenal as well if you're in the mood for some dessert.

Apple & Peanut Butter, was not impressed with either.

Went for breakfast this , the food was good with great sausage gravy. Had the hashbrowns smothered with gravy for only $7. Hubby had the special, biscuits and gravy with sausage for only $7.50. Skip the pie and have the breakfast, you will be happier.

Grabbing a meal in between flights in lonely Taylor AZ. Yes, Trappers Cafe is not the Essex House, but they had the absolute best apple pie I have ever eaten. The Best! Great service too.

Not so good Chicken fried steak

when we came into the restaurant we were immediately greeted, the waitress we had was fantastic, could not have asked for better service! The food was ok. I had a mushroom burger with onion rings. My Son had chicken fried steak, which he did not care for and got a bacon cheeseburger instead. The CFS had brown gravy on it and he did not like it (the waitress did warn him). Burgers would have been better if the buns were better quality. Otherwise, I will be back, but to try something different. Customer service is huge to me!

The sandwiches are always great. The remodeling made it a little nicer and more comfortable and private in the booths. Prices went up a little. Pie looks good but were disappointing. The pies used to be excellent. They were lacking flavor and something was different in the mix this time. Waitress was kind and quick.

Banana cream pie and peanut butter pie. Yummy!

When we learned that Sweetheart had closed and Monica's Cafe had taken over, we decided to make the drive while visiting Show Low from Gilbert during a forest vacation. The decor was modest, rustic, and charming, with a blend of Native American touches and old country western character. The walls were minimalist, but in a way that felt intentional. It did not need to try too hard. As a vegetarian, trying a new restaurant is always a bit of a gamble. You never know whether food is cooked in oil or lard, whether rice or soup has meat-based stock, or whether something that looks vegetarian has hidden meat worked into it somewhere. It can be a tricky line to walk. We drove about 30 minutes to Monica's Cafe hoping for a good meal, and this place absolutely did not disappoint. Honestly, I think the reason the place feels so simple is because they have clearly put their energy where it matters most: the food. I ordered the veggie omelet with added tomatoes, a side of hollandaise sauce, and a pancake on the side. It was surprisingly excellent. After nearly every bite, I kept thinking that the food from this small cafe should not be this good. Everything was flavorful, satisfying, and far exceeded expectations. Next time we are in the area, we will absolutely be coming back. I definitely recommend Monica's Cafe to anyone looking for a great meal in Show Low.

They let us know that the panini machine was broken and someone was working on it, so that buggered up my plan to order the turkey panini. I ended up ordering a grilled chicken sandwich. Husband decided to go big with a chili dog The place is clean - but I do have to mention that these terribly uncomfortable chairs made my back hurt just looking at them, so we ate quickly They have a little book sitting at the front bar, where they give you all sorts of information on Holbrook, which is kind of cool. It included a list of places to stay, things to see and do in the city and campgrounds.- quite fun that they have taken the time to put that together. Honestly, the food wasn't all that memorable and maybe it was because I had my heart set on that turkey Panini. The chicken sandwich was fine and my husband's hot dog was good but very messy as one would expect. The fries weren't very hot. It was just OK. $29 before tip

Salad bar was fresh with lots of topping choices and homemade salad dressings and fresh soup (turkey noodle just like grandma's) Breakfast tacos were absolutely delicious and hugely portioned. Love that breakfast, lunch and dinner are all available all day long. Turkey dinner was real turkey not a sliced meatroll or pressed etc, mashed potatoes etc homemade. Only regret was being too full to try dessert. The greeting we received and service was stellar. Kassidy (and male busser) was pure sunshine in the morning. She/they kept water and coffee full, table clean and a smile on her face. She would be an asset anywhere-don't let her go! Great team, great place. Good for families, groups, individuals or couples. They made a nice fuss over a young girl celebrating a birthday. This place is a gem.

We have visited this place a good six or seven times over the last year for B-L, and it was always excellent. The staff are awesome, the salad bar was superb, the food was cooked correctly at a great temperature and tasted wonderful. However, the end of January 26, we tried to go there and they were closed and we didn't know why. No sign. We returned the next week, and had breakfast and I don't know what happened - maybe cooks were a no show in show low. Super polite and fast service still occurred. Comfortable seating. But I'm Unsure what happened in the kitchen. Hash browns were white, no color, and thus tasted more like oil than potatoes. We both requested eggs over medium, and they both came out over easy with whites not cooked. In a bacon/egg sandwich OE just doesn't work well. But it was a good egg! The croissant was recommended for my brekkie sandwich and was good but the cook smashed it flat - that is a big no-go and defeats ordering a croissant. Don't know if I'm right or wrong and it does not matter to me, but they tasted like Costco croissants, which is great. I think they're fantastic for a commercial product and when heated up they are hard to beat. But I don't think this one was warm....they need to go into the oven for a few minutes to heat up the bread and liven up the crispy flaky nature. Sausage Patties were a little too brown/ overcooked this time. The Pancakes were delightfully still way above board though - delicious!!! We will return and hope the cook from before is back or that someone is overseeing the plates of food before serving them. (No updated photos). Their salad and soup buffet was excellent when we last visited! Please keep in mind that unless the owners are cooking at these places, or they have somebody there that is consistent and grounded locally, that sometimes keeping a good cook up on a mountain or in a rural area can be a challenge. I know this one and am forgiving. We always give restaurants a second or even third try!!!!

From the moment we walked in, it was clear the staff genuinely enjoyed working there and cared about our experience. The atmosphere was welcoming and upbeat. The menu offers a wide variety of creative dishes. My wife ordered the Fried Pickle Burger, which came with a unique tomatillo ranch sauce--it was both inventive and delicious. I had the Nashville Hot BBQ Chicken Sandwich special, and it lived up to the name: full of flavor with just the right kick. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Since it was Mother's Day weekend, they were offering a complimentary dessert with a meal for all mothers. My wife chose the peach cobbler, and it was not only generously portioned but also absolutely delicious. A sign inside proudly proclaims they've been voted Best of the White Mountains for the past four years. Based on our visit, I have no doubt that streak will continue. The only (minor) disappointment was that they don't yet serve beer or wine, though the staff mentioned they're looking into adding it in the future. Highly recommended for anyone passing through Snowflake or local to the area--you won't be disappointed.
