    Steak frites
    Lindsay S.

While visiting Athens on a work trip, I was craving a good meal. A friend suggested Trappeze, mentioning it was one of the best restaurants in the area. I was sat in the bar area. The server/bartender was awesome, very attentive. I got a glass of wine, french onion soup and the steak frites. Everything was delicious. The steak was a nice size and the blue cheese-truffle fries were very yummy. Next time I'm in the area I'll be back to order the same meal!

    Bangers and mash

Good food and drinks. Inside is modern and clean. Got the mash and bangers and it was a ton of mash potatoes and not a lot of duck sausage. Waitress was a little slow for how quiet the place was. Also had a waiter walk in to the women's bathroom without knocking ... that was really weird. He left upon seeing me hence how I know it was a mistake. Still odd and uncomfortable.

I came for a rehearsal dinner. We had a private room and the food was buffet style. The appetizers were sliders, buffalo chicken dip, veggies, and fries. The main course was salmon, Mac and cheese, meat, (looked like a roast), salad, rolls, and roasted potatoes. There were also mixed drinks. The food was good except for the mac and cheese. It was lacking flavor. The staff was friendly and no one had any complaints. I don't like in Athens but if I had the opportunity, I would give them another try.

    Red dragon cheese plate

I ordered a Red Dragon Cheese Plate. It was delicious! One of the cheeses was better (I believe it was the paler one). Lots of variety, and I liked the jam on the board, too. Service was fine, ambiance was pretty lowkey.

Not exactly blue cheese fries, but damn good fries with some cheese droppings?

Let's start with the service at the bar - phenomenal! I'll likely massacre the spellings here, but Nico and Izland were amazing! Nico was fairly new, but had a great spin on cocktails and humored me taking a gin & jam drink and sub bourbon since I don't like gin, and it was fantastic to the point I was disappointed I didn't make it back over the weekend for another. We had a burger and some bar food, which is pretty much our jam. The blue cheese fries left a tad to be desired as I am accustomed to more cheese and likely a sauce, but the fries themselves were tasty and it came with a choice of dipping sauce, so no trauma. The jam with the pimento cheese was the star of the show (hence the drink order). Now the true test to a restaurant is how they handle it when something goes wrong, and someone got distracted and the lamb burger was nearly a hockey puck when it came out. Nico was on it, took it back to the kitchen with all the apologies and we were presented with a replacement that was perfectly cooked. It was super tasty with the onions and toppings to the point that we didn't even care there was not a gluten free option. Bathrooms were immaculate, as was everything, and the bar area very inviting. It's one of those menus where anyone can find something and will absolutely be a go to upon our next return. Thanks guys!!

    Chicken wings in Cheerwine sauce

One of our favorite spots in downtown. Lots of seating, great service, and several unique and delicious dishes. To start, you have to try the Cheerwine Wings. They are one of the best and most unique things I've had in Athens to-date. Perfect flavoring. A bit pricy, so that's the only downside as I could probably eat an almost endless amount based on the flavor. Otherwise we've had the fish, chicken sandwich and several other dishes--all of which have been very flavorful and cooked perfectly. This is a great lowkey spot to enjoy a casual dinner in downtown.

    Veggie burger

This place was absolutely incredible!! We had a few choices but this spot just sounded delicious. We definitely picked right! They have an incredible veggie burger that was absolute perfection!! The garlic fries hit the damn spot & the cocktails were refreshing as well. Our server wasn't terrible but she definitely didn't seem happy or have a personality. Everyone can have bad days though. Either way, check this spot out!

Chickpea Burger, fries, and tomato soup

Dined on a Friday evening at approximately 5pm. They got real busy right after our arrival. We had boiled peanuts, tomato soup, burgers, wine, and mixed drinks. The service was excellent and all of the food and drinks were outstanding. We will definitely return when we are back in the area.

    Pub burger Belgian fries

A friend and I were in Athens for a concert recently and we stopped by Trappeze to eat dinner beforehand. I had the pub burger and my friend had a burger as well but with no bun (since she's allergic to gluten.) I loved the burger but it was pretty messy though. It was definitely falling apart by the time I was finishing it. I think it tasted great but I just kinda wish the greens on the burger weren't all over the place and that it was easier to eat lol. I was a fan of the fries. Our server took some time bringing back our receipts when we were waiting to leave, but I still think the service was pretty good overall. The inside area of the restaurant had a pretty cool vibe. My friend and I were happy with our visit and I'm sure I'll be back at some point

Chicken Bacon Ranch with Fries and Garlic Aioli
    Emma H.

This restaurant has always been one of my favorites. It is always crowded, but I rarely have to wait. The staff is always extremely friendly and takes great care of me, making sure that my drinks are full and never rushing the table even when it is busy. The food never disappoints. They have great sandwich options and the fries are amazing with the garlic aioli. I almost always stick with a sandwich, but the nachos are also great. I can always make two meals out of it as well. I always choose Trappeze for a catch up or an evening out!

Y'all have TV so we can watch the Georgia Bulldogs?

Yes, we have TV coverage throughout the dining room!

Are small (pug) dogs allowed with outdoor eating?

Hi Susie! Of course, we love dogs here! While we only allow service animals inside, our patio is open to dogs of all shapes and sizes. Hope to see you soon, cheers!

Is it impossible to get a table in the restaurant on a Friday night if you don't have a reservation?? Went to go make a reservation for tomorrow but I was too late so wondering if I should just stop by and try anyways?

In my experience, not impossible! I went a couple of Fridays ago and didn't have a reservation. We went around 7. I've been many times and it's been busy, but have never had to wait. I highly recommend going-- it's great.

How late is the kitchen open?

The kitchen is open until 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday evenings, and until 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday!

    Any happy hours?

I read it three times, not because I misunderstood it, but because I wanted to confirm that it listed pets and children in that order, which it did, and that tells you something about the sequence of problems they've encountered on the lawn, though I've decided not to find out what exactly. With that said, the lawn is not exactly a lawn at all, unless you consider granite rocks as a lawn, which the residents of Elberton, Georgia do as is is considered the "Granite Capital of the World." This rocky lawn is to be filled with Bichon Frisés and children in ball caps, and on the afternoon I visited it was doing exactly that. There was a dog near the covered bar area moving through the patio with the serenity of an animal who has never once been told that other people exist. His owner stood nearby holding a beer and looking proud, which is a face I recognized, because I have a son and have stood next to him with that exact expression at least twice in public places where I should have known better. I had the Radiant Positivity, a sour ale at 6%, which sounds like something printed above a middle school guidance counselor's desk but turned out to be genuinely good, all grapefruit and a tartness that knew when to stop. I thought about ordering the Kamp Jam, a 4% light lager described as tasting like shared laughter and the unbreakable bonds of friendship, and decided I wasn't there yet. The owners opened this place in 2014 and have expanded it three times since, which tells you something about Greer that it probably already knows about itself but that the rest of the area is still catching up on. Consequentially, Greer itself has also expanded its waistline 3 times since 2014 but that's a discussion for another time. I ordered a second beer, the Howler Bock, a Helles Bock that the bartender described in terms I didn't fully follow but nodded along to, the way you nod at a doctor who is explaining something you've already decided to accept. It was malty and quieter than the Radiant Positivity, the kind of beer you drink while thinking about something else, which is not an insult. I thought about asking about the Southern Sanctum, an American Tripel, but the afternoon had reached the evening and a point where a Tripel felt like a commitment that deserved more deliberation than I had left in me. I paid my tab, which was reasonable in a way that surprised me given the quality of everything, said goodbye to nobody in particular, and drove home thinking about the Kamp Jam, and whether the unbreakable bonds of friendship were something I'd get to eventually.

Tried the Earl Of The Abbey first, and wow. A beer with earl grey tea is new for me, but works phenomenally well. Plus the service is also great! Casey, Abby, and Bob were all nice, knowledgeable, and friendly. Give this place a try if you want a relaxing drink, good food, a family-friendly spot, or just an excuse to get out. Tonight we made our way to The Social Goat in Covington, Georgia. Before we even get to the food,…read morethis is the kind of restaurant that has a personality all its own. Goat-themed artwork is scattered throughout the restaurant, including some fun paintings that immediately caught our attention. The atmosphere feels more like a cozy tavern than a traditional taco restaurant, with dark wood, booths, and a comfortable setting that invites you to settle in and stay awhile. One interesting piece of local history is the building itself. We learned that in 1906, this building housed an antique market. Think about that for a moment. If someone was selling antiques here in 1906, some of those "antiques" might have been from the 1800s. More than a century later, the building is still serving visitors, although these days the focus is tacos rather than antiques. Covington itself is worth mentioning. The city has become known as Georgia's Hollywood of the South, with more than 100 movies and television productions filmed here over the years. Fans of The Vampire Diaries and Sweet Magnolias will recognize many locations around town. If you're visiting the area, there is plenty to see before or after dinner. Our server for the evening was Jordan, who provided friendly service throughout the meal. The menu features eleven different taco varieties, which immediately created a dilemma. Narrowing the choices down to just three was not easy. We ultimately chose the Fried Fish Taco, the Philly Taco, and the Sesame Ribeye Taco. The tacos are available as a trio, allowing you to sample three different varieties on one platter. The meal also came with chips, salsa, and queso, making it easy to share and compare flavors. Let's start with the Fried Fish Taco because it ended up being my favorite of the three. The fish itself had excellent flavor and was cooked just right. The taco was topped with a sauce that brought a unique flavor to the experience, and the crunchy slaw added texture that worked beautifully with the fish. Every component contributed something to the overall bite. This was the taco that surprised me the most and ultimately earned the top spot in my personal ranking. The Philly Taco finished a very close second. If you're a fan of Philly cheesesteaks, you'll immediately understand the appeal. Loaded with shaved ribeye, peppers, onions, and cheese, it delivered exactly the flavors I was hoping for. It was rich, satisfying, and packed with flavor. Sometimes simple combinations work for a reason, and this taco proved that point. The Sesame Ribeye Taco was the most unique of the three. The sesame-soy flavor was bold and immediately noticeable. I enjoyed the flavor profile and appreciated that it took the taco in a different direction than what I typically experience. Rather than trying to imitate a traditional taco, it offered something distinct and memorable. Anyone looking for a creative twist on a taco will likely find this one especially interesting. One thing I appreciated about the trio platter was the opportunity to compare very different flavor profiles side by side. The Fried Fish Taco offered a balance of fish, sauce, and crunch. The Philly Taco delivered familiar comfort-food flavors. The Sesame Ribeye Taco brought a bold and unique flavor profile to the table. Each taco had its own personality, which made the comparison part of the fun. The chips were crisp, the salsa was fresh, and the queso provided a nice complement to the tacos. Combined with the trio platter, it was more than enough food for a satisfying meal. The Social Goat manages to be more than just a taco stop. Between the historic building, the goat-themed decor, the welcoming tavern atmosphere, and a menu filled with creative options, it offers an experience that stands out from the typical restaurant visit. If we return, and there is a good chance we will, there are still eight taco varieties left for us to investigate. The Social Goat Tavern 1115 Church Street Covington, GA 30014
