I decided to allow my hair to grow long enough to donate, then began the task of finding a hairdresser who could give me an easy care cut. This was soon after salons were allowed to reopen during the covid pandemic, so getting an appointment was particularly challenging. I'd already determined that Anna Craig was my top choice because my hair is naturally quite curly and her reviews everywhere are fabulous. She specializes in cutting curly hair. The first couple of times I looked at her appointment calendar, there was a 6-8 week wait! One day I checked again and there must have been a cancelation because I was able to get an appointment just a few days later. Anna knew the correct way to bundle my hair for the donation, and made quick work of that. She took one look at the photo I'd brought with me, and within 35 minutes, she'd washed, cut, and dried my hair to perfection. It's been a couple of weeks since my cut and I still love it. She will talk you through what is realistic for your hair type & wont let you make rash foolish regrettable decisions. She will not steer you wrong. Her prices are spectacular, she's absolutely brilliant, so fun, has beautiful taste- I have been going to her exclusively now for over 15 years & each salon design she's created has been more lovely & creative than the last. I can't imagine another person ever touching my hair. She even did my wedding hair & my daughter's prom hair. She's also been styling my 18 yr old daughter's hair since she was 5. She's done everything from highlights to punk colors for us, taken me from brown to red to black & back again. The studio is cozy and welcoming, easy to find, good parking. Anna is great! She is attentive and patient, listened to my whole hair story, had some diagnostic ideas about why it had changed the past 2 years, helped me deal with it in a couple of different ways, including giving me a great new haircut that embraces my volume and my waves rather than fights it. I will be back for retouches, confidence boosts and inspiration. I can imagine how badly she is missed in Austin, TX, but I am very happy she decided to move to the Triangle. read more

I have gone to Anna for all of my hair needs for well over 10 years. She is absolutely one of the very best hair stylists I've ever seen, which is why once I found her, I never let anyone else touch my hair! I love that she will tell me straight up whether or not a color or style will work on my hair and explain why. I have gotten to the point that I always go with whatever color she recommends for my hair and it always turns out beautiful. I'm also so much more educated about my wavy hair now than I ever was, and because of that, I now proudly wear my hair more natural after years and years of straightening it. She helped me grow out an undercut that I had for years, and did it so well that I literally had no awkward period while it was growing out. She is a lot of fun to talk to while she's doing my hair and always knows about the best new books to read or the coolest new shows to watch. I've followed her to several different salon locations over the many years and they all have been comfortable, beautiful and relaxing. She is truly an expert at her craft and knowledgeable about all of the products she offers. If I could give her more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. read more

Anna is nothing short of amazing! I have been going to Anna for about 5 years after a bad string of stylist that cut too much and constantly over processed. Anna got my hair healthy and beautiful, I get daily compliments! One thing I love the most about her is she is completely honest with how an idea I have will look and talks me through it, but will also allow me to make up my own mind. She is also always on time and I never have to wait like other salons! My daughter has also been going to her and she has done her hair for special events like prom which she is incredible at! Anna is great about explaining to you what will work with your hair and look good and she is also great about being honest when she knows something won't work with your hair type. Trust her! Maybe reconsider the penalties and show some grace and understanding on a first time honest mistake of being late. Charge 25%, 50% or a set fee, then go to full price if it happens more than once. You are not lacking in clients because you do great work but this was a really hard hit for me and I would never consider returning after this experience nor would I recommend this studio to anyone. I get that you put out a warning but things do happen. I was with a hairdresser before you for 3 years and was never once late for an appointment and she would vouch for that. Unfortunately she had to have surgery on both her wrists so I had to find a new hairdresser. I know this won't hurt your business, just hoping you will give some thought to changing your policy in the future. Charging 100% full price for being late for an appointment, almost $200 for no services rendered. Wtf! That is CRAZY. I get it people have abused you in the past but I was brand new. You could have handled it differently. read more

I have been going to Anna at Trashy Roots for over 9 years now. I make the drive to Round Rock from Austin because I know I won't be coming home and crying over a really bad hair cut and hi-lites. Anna is such a lovely person, she wants you to be happy when you leave. She is a master stylist and she really does know what will look good on you. I started seeing Anna a few years ago after going through a string of losing stylists repeatedly (trying to go back to them at a salon and they had quit and gone elsewhere). I was looking for someone super consistent, reliable, honest, and obviously, proficient. She's been all those things in the few years I've been seeing her. She will be upfront and honest about whether something will work or not and as she gets to know you, will tell you if that will work for you personally or not based on what she knows of you and your level of commitment maintenance-wise. I recently started going grey and told her to tell me when it was time to color. I was super nervous as someone that hadn't done color before but she did such a great job and I love it, which I honestly wasn't thinking would be possible! read more
