Getting back to hair, Michaela was very personable, funny, nice, and professional. The experience was nice and it feels like you're just chatting with an old friend. Honestly I probably chat too much but the story of my life LOL. They take you back to the hair washing area which is quiet and Serene, ready for relaxation. They also offer you and I mask type essential oil situation where you can pick different scents. After your hair is done washing you get processed and then you go back to your sitting area. It took a little bit to get my hair to the desired look but Michaela and the salon made it very easy to work with and get the results we were hoping for. I appreciate them for being so accommodating and ease of everything. Michaela is a great stylist and I would recommend booking with her anytime! The salon ambience has been stripped... it felt very middle of the road decor-wise, loads of product shelves and no posh salon vibe remaining. I took a chance on a stylist who essentially ruined my hair with color. I've never had such a traumatic color job... the application of the foils and the color was insane - foils scrunched every which way, no rhyme or reason... she was so rough on my head when she removed the foils, that it actually hurt. But it was the result of the color that actually had me in tears. I had to go to another salon to have it fixed, and when i tried to get a refund for it from Mark Christopher they gave me a bit of a runaround for about two months before I finally got refunded. I don't love giving poor public reviews but sadly this place seems to have had a fall from grace from its original top salon status.

Unfortunately, due to a medical condition, my MD told me it would not be a good idea for my scalp and may cause worsening problems. Keep in mind the product never left the salon. I called before the install date and explained that my doctor does not recommend this for me. The owner would not get on the phone to discuss the cancellation. She left all the discussion up to the receptionist, who had no clue what to do or say to me. The salon refused to send the extensions back to the manufacturer and insisted that I pay for the entire product. They tried to tell me that it was a special order. When, in fact, the order was out of the online catalog. They took $1000 from me and refused to refund my money. Now I am stuck with $1000 hair extensions that I can never use. The Salon did not demonstrate basic empathy or flexibility toward my medical situation. I will be contacting the state board of cosmetology as well as the state attorney general/consumer office to fight this wrong. For these reasons, I do not recommend this salon. They only want your money and don't really care about your situation or self-esteem. I am sorry to leave my stylist; she was wonderful.

You can tell that he has been doing it for a long time and takes pride in his work. I've had my hair cut by him three times and I've been very happy with the results every time. The atmosphere at Tesoro is really laid back and comfortable. When you arrive you are greeted by Maurizio or one of the other stylists and usually offered a water or a cup of coffee. It's a nice touch and I think it speaks to the level of service that they provide. You can make an appointment but they also take walk ins. If you walk in though, you may have to wait a while. So, I would recommend making an appointment, especially if you're going on the weekend. As a guy, you really can't beat the value. For the price point $20 you get a professional haircut and wash. You are going to pay close to that at any one of the corporate hair cutting places where they tend to do a poor job and rush you in and out. Go to Tesoro for your next haircut, you won't be disappointed!

I've had great experiences with getting my hair cut here in the past. If you do frequent this salon, I can not recommend Christina enough. She''s a bright and energetic person, with an eye for good styling. Today however was a little different. Now I am not a frequent customer/client. My hair doesn't grow particularly quickly, so I'm only in once every month or so. I called in to book a last minute appointment and was unable to book. This normally wouldn't be an issue. The receptionist who took the call asked very politely if I could hold briefly while she checked to see if a last minute booking would be possible for another stylist I have used in the past to cut my hair. I have nothing terrible to say regarding how she cut my hair in the past, but it was a last minute booking and I had to have my hair cut. Anyway, my understanding is there was time in which I could have been seen, and the receptionist had to politely inform me that I was unable to be seated for whatever reason. I have always been polite, cheerful, helpful, and good natured while in the salon. I've politely waited for over 30 minutes past when my appointment was to have started. I will voluntarily aid in sweeping the station up after my haircut is finished. And to my knowledge, I have never been over or under charged for a single service. Again, I harbor no ill will against the business nor my stylist Christina. If she were to change salons, I would seek her out. She does good work. I have never felt that my patronage of a business where I believed to have such a positive relationship with, did not appreciate my business nor desire it. I regretfully feel that after this dismissal, that I know the receptionists had no say in, I must unfortunately begin the search for a new place to get my hair. It's not always one giant event that leads to a client/customer disappoint. In fact more often than not, it's a bunch of little things that add up. Waiting 5 minutes once is one thing. But I had to change stylists because 5 minutes became 10. Then 20. Then 30. Then 45. And that's how I met Christina and learned she's awesome. Very professional. Again, this has nothing to do with her, or the other stylists. This has everything to do with a business who says they're in the business of making money turning down money. If my money isn't good enough here, I am sure there are plenty of salons and barbershops out there who will be more than happy to take it. read more

Just to preface this: I've never been to another salon other than this one, so I can't really compare this salon to another one for reference. I'm a teenager, and I've never really had to get anything professionally done before, but when I bleached my hair to death this past January to try and get it silver, I royally messed it up and needed help. I went in with yellow, extremely damaged hair, and left with an absolutely gorgeous silver/grey. Even IF they hadn't done my hair exactly the way I wanted it, I would go back, just because of the atmosphere and the customer service. Every stylist there was so sweet and attentive, and it was clear that everyone loved what they did and were constantly striving to learn more. When Megan (my stylist; I highly recommend her, by the way. She's wonderful and funny and insanely good at her job) was doing my hair, everyone helped pitch in and lent an extra hand when she needed it. I honestly can't rave enough about this place, and the fact that they were able to do such a good job on my rather extreme hair makes me think that they're probably excellent at everything else they do as well. I can't really speak about the price just because I've never gone to another salon for reference, but I agree with everyone else's reviews when they say that you absolutely get what you pay for. Since I went in for color correction and then a full foil on top of that, the price was probably a bit higher than most of the their services they provide there, but the time and effort that was put into my hair completely justified the price to me. My appointment was scheduled for 3, and Megan and one of the owners stayed until 11 at night to finish my hair. They were dedicated and didn't cut corners just because of the late hour. I will definitely be going back when my roots grow in, and I would highly recommend this salon to anyone, no matter what they wanted to get done. read more

I used to be a pageant girl and have had so much work to my hair. Constantly going back and forth from blonde to brunette. I'm a natural brunette, so it was damaging my hair and damaging my pocket. I came to this salon a little anxious and embarrassed. Salons can be intimidating. I got the pleasure of Emily Stone doing my hair. Right away I felt comfortable. She was easy to talk to and made getting my hair done more enjoyable. I didn't feel like she pressured me to do all of these extra things to my hair. I understand sometimes you need to do treatments, especially if you are doing bleach. I felt like she genuinely thought what was best for me. I got a balayage and it came out exactly what I wanted. Amazing Salon Experience I had an absolutely amazing experience at the Lux salon. Everyone was welcoming and my stylist Tanya was amazing!! As an African-American woman with naturally curly hair, I'm very particular about how my hair is handled, and Tanya was incredibly gentle and patient throughout the entire process. She took her time with my hair, carefully blow-dried it and flat-ironed it without rushing. My hair has never felt this soft, healthy, and bouncy after a salon visit! I have received an excellent cut from Jenna McLurkin. Jenna is very cool who really puts thought into the haircut and is nice to talk to as well.She is professional and upfront about her observations.Jenna listened to my request and was really a good conversationalist. I've been trying out new hair stylists for a while, and I'm happy to say that I've finally found the one! I think she's definitely good at what she does. One day three years ago I randomly decided to get my hair cut & colored. I was a Lafayette Village walked into the Lux salon at that location & booked with the first available stylist, Tiffany. Immediately I felt I was in fantastic hands. Tiff listened to what I wanted, and executed it to perfection. I haven't let anyone else touch my hair since. Tiffany has now been exclusively at the Creedmoor location for a while & although it's a little farther out for me it's totally worth it because of the experience. I went to Lux this summer and had my hair trimmed and colored by Emily! She did an AMAZING job. Earlier in the year I had gone somewhere else for balayage and it was horrible. I went to Emily and asked her to fix it, and she did beautifully! She evened out the color so there weren't any lines and made it so that my color would grow back out much more naturally. Her cut was perfectly even, and I even almost fell asleep at one point because it was such a relaxing experience. I would highly recommend Lux, and especially Emily, to anyone! read more

Lauren Shelby does a fantastic job cutting my hair. She really listens to what I want and consistently does a beautiful job. Not a big Yelp reviewer, but I had to share my great experience. I had been going to Samuel Cole salon for a couple years, and wanted to try a new place. The staff is extremely pleasant. My stylist was Megan Murdock and she was awesome. My hair has never looked better (per my girlfriend). I used to feel like I was forcing my hair into place with product, but now my hair just naturally falls into the right place. A testament to having hair cut well. My first time to Lux Slaon was because I was having a hard time getting appointments at my regular salon. After being over this issue I deceided I would research options. I found Lux Salon and was able to quickly get an appointment. I was greated with a newer staff member there but she did great. Chassity cut my hair pefectly. Not to say that I am upset, just very, very disappointed. Furthermore, If I leave with something that isn't 100% meeting my expectations, I usually adapt and life goes on. However, every time I look in the mirror I find myself disappointed with my hair after getting it cut a few days ago Anyways, I have been getting my hair haircut at Salon Blu for about three years now. Overall, it is a great experience and I usually leave happy with my hair. The stylists are always super friendly and we have pleasant conversations during. It is worth mentioning that this salon has staff who have different experience levels. I have always chosen or been placed with a stylist with a high experience level, but this time I chose to take a gamble and go with someone at a "level 1"... this was where I went wrong. We had a great conversation, and I told her the exact haircut that I wanted- just a simple medium length cut with lots of layers (I had long hair). Additionally, I provided about five reference photos of the exact haircut that I wanted. I figured the haircut would be simple enough to replicate. I told her verbatim "please just not too short". I expected that she would deliver the haircut that I wanted with the information I provided and the photos. This was not the case.... my idea of a medium length haircut was erased and replaced with essentially a "long bob" ... which is very short... about 4 inches shorter than what I asked for. I really wish that she had followed my instructions of where I wanted it to be cut at. I think that she did not have enough experience and didn't consider the fact that wet hair appears much shorter once it is dry. Another item that I did not care for was that my typical 45 minute haircut took her an hour and a half to complete. I do not mind the fact that she took her time, so much as that she cut my hair entirely too short despite knowing that I wanted a medium length like the photos. I will be honest and just say it outright: my hair looks hideous now :( I left the salon feeling very sad and disappointed- only clinging to the fact that hair grows back. Despite being super upset about my hair, I will continue to go to the salon blu, but I highly recommend that anyone who goes to this place chooses a stylist at a high level. Lesson learned

I came in wanting a lighter, cooler-toned balayage and showed an inspo photo of hair she had previously done herself. However, the final result turned out much warmer/orangier than expected. I completely understand the complexity of coloring and bleaching and that results may not always turn out exactly as planned. I was never told before, during, or after the appointment that my hair had not lifted enough to achieve the desired tone until I reached out afterward myself. After contacting the salon, the corrective option offered was a darker glaze/toner, which wasn't really the direction I wanted to go, so I decided not to do it because I wasn't confident it would achieve the result I was hoping for.

She joins a small but incredibly well regarded group of colorists/stylists: AJA (Bumble & Bumble, NYC), Charles Slider (Thunder Salon, Philadelphia...an ALLURE MAGAZINE BEST STYLIST), and Fatima (Faina Hair Salon, Sterling, VA...A Northern Virginia BEST STYLIST winner multiple times). When I say that Taylor knows her business, believe me. Next, I cannot imagine you will ever walk into a salon that will instantly make you feel as welcome and comfortable as The Legacy Salon. Nick is there behind the reception desk and is also providing services at the shampoo sink, etc., and he is so comfortable to talk to! Literally 5 minutes after meeting Taylor and Nick, I felt like I had known them forever. That alone is such a great experience especially after frequenting salons that have no clue about client relations to say nothing about hair color and cut. All that to say, if while you are sitting in your stylist's chair, and he or she is busy making TikTok videos, giggling like a school girl at another client's expense, and generally ignoring you, head for the door and never go back! I am almost one week post color and cut by Taylor at The Legacy Salon. All of my boxes regarding hair needs are checked. Last but not least, the fees at The Legacy Salon are reasonable, and a breath of fresh air when compared to the exorbitant fees charged at other salons. Additionally, the level of color and cut expertise is absolutely top-notch here. I researched for months and made my appointment, and I could not be more pleased. I highly recommend this salon.

It is a quaint salon off St. Mary's Street in downtown Raleigh. There is parking behind and a little on the street (if you are lucky). About 3 weeks prior to my appointment, I got silly and colored my hair with Clairol Color Crave Semi-Permanent in Scarlet; let's just say my hair was RED. This stuff lasts 15+ washes; there's an understatement. After weeks of washing, my hair was a faded red/orange ugliness. I work from home, so not too many people thought it was CRAZY. I walked in and promptly apologized to Maddie for the condition of my hair. She was concerned that highlights, etc. might damage it due to the WONKY color, but she accepted the challenge. She spent a lot of time figuring out the best way to get rid of or remove/reduce the red. After working her magic, my hair just had minimal hints of red, and looked AWESOME! I was VERY impressed with Maddie and the team at K Elizabeth. They are all very friendly, and I could have spent more time watching them interact and just have fun.
