Food was incredible period. You can tell everything is made from scratch and they use quality ingredients. Service was just as good. Every time I've been I've had a different server and they've all been incredible! The ambiance in this place is very unique. Our family decided to go to Camp Lucy for dinner on 4/24 to celebrate a family member's birthday. All the rave about Tilley's and since it had been a few years since going there, we decided to make that our selection. I can say the ambiance is wonderful. It is a beautiful place. Our previous attending and food choices/selections were fantastic. In preparation for, since two had not been there, I pointed them to the online menu. First mistake, the menu is old and requires update. I think if I had known that I would not have made Tilley's an option. The prices of everything were pretty high. And based on the food we selected, most was not worth the cost. One order included Short Rib Pasta with a thin pasta as tagliolini. Instead, I receive a pulled pork with a very thick pasta. I did not care for it. I like thin pasta. Pictures display what was provided and a typical Northern Italy dish of tagliolini. Because I am not certain of the plate names, I can only comment as to what our group had to say. And of course, the menu online is still not up to date. Steak Frites. The steak was a little tough and cold. It did not really have a real flavor. It was accompanied by fries that were not tasty at all. Thank God for ketchup. House made Focaccia, as an appetizer, was a good size that could be shared among the 4 of us. Make sure to ask for extra butter because they only provide a small container. As big as it is and 4 adults, you would think they would automatically provide enough butter for each. The night was so busy that when we finally did ask and got it, the bread was already cold. The lemon brick chicken was another favorite dish in our group. It was tasty. The best dish was the fish (cod). It was superb, since we were disappointed in our own meals, we were fortunate the birthday girl shared with us. The fish was cooked excellent. Let me summarize by saying that based on prices, staff, and time for food to come to us, it wasn't worth it. I think a better choice would have been Trattoria Lisina in Driftwood where you don't have to pay for the bread and staff is always there to take care of you and get the food to you in a more expeditious fashion. Fortunately, Tilley's is beautiful therefore the surroundings make time go by a little quicker. I did send a similar note to Tilley's, but they did not respond. read more

While visiting Dripping Springs, Texas -- as I often do -- I decided to try something with more of a local feel, and I'm glad I did. As soon as I pulled onto the property, I could tell this place was something special. The grounds were absolutely beautiful -- well maintained, scenic, and set within what felt like a winery. Driving up, I had a feeling this was going to be on the higher-end side, so I was hoping the food would live up to it. Walking in, the restaurant did not disappoint. Everything was very well put together with a polished, almost country club-style atmosphere. Since the weather was nice, I chose to sit outside by the pool, which made for a great setting to relax and enjoy the evening. I ordered the tenderloin with asparagus and mashed potatoes, and it was excellent. The steak was cooked perfectly and was a great cut of meat -- exactly what you'd expect from a place like this. The service was just as impressive. Even though I was seated outside by myself, the waitress stayed attentive and consistently checked in, all while managing her tables inside. That level of service stood out. Overall, this was a great experience. It's definitely on the more expensive side, but if that's not a concern, the food, atmosphere, and service absolutely make it worth it. If you're in Dripping Springs, I would definitely recommend giving this place a try. read more

Resting inside Camp Lucy is this gem of a restaurant. It's an old renovated church and the decor pays reverence to the origins. It's best to have reservations and be sure to take advantage of the happy hour given it's a higher end restaurant with the expected higher prices. Our drinks were great and we had the crab cakes, chicken bites and focaccia bread, all were delicious and expertly plated. This was a surprise pop in for us when we were taking a day trip to Austin one day. We were lucky to get seats at the bar this which was amazing given I was approaching hangry town. Upscale restaurant sith elevated American/French style dishes. We had the Tillie's Wedge salad that was tasty and Portobello Frites. Portobello Frites were made with portobello into fries shape with tempura batter - so decadent and flavorful. Mushrooms never tasted so good lol. Their chicken breast main was a bit of let down as mine was done too dry. and the sauce didnt make the dish pop out enough. An amazing restaurant located on beautiful grounds in Dripping Springs! This has to be one of the most beautiful restaurants I've been to it's hard to capture it you just have to go. And make sure to stop and say hi to some friendly alpacas on your way in. Even though we were late they still seated us which I appreciate and the menu was a very straightforward brunch menu. I opted for the standard breakfast(minus the eggs) which was delicious. The jam that came with the toast was actually so good and I enjoyed the lavender latte I got. Finally had the chance to try Tillie's! I was thrilled to see llamas on the property when I arrived--such a fun touch. The restaurant itself is absolutely stunning. I'd say the entrées were outstanding, but the appetizers and drinks could use some improvement. We started with the Caesar salad, jumbo crab cake, and housemade focaccia. I only wish the focaccia had been served warm. My cocktail, unfortunately, was unbalanced and tasted mostly of alcohol. For mains, we ordered the mero sea bass, oak-fired short rib, and Texas pork chop. Each dish was beautifully presented and truly delicious. Really disappointing. We've been going to Tillies since it opened and it's just not the same. We went for brunch yesterday and all of our dishes were terrible and the service was really cold. My omelette was greasy with no seasoning and the veggies were completely raw. My teens both got the chicken and waffles and both complained the chicken was tasteless and didn't finish it. The only thing we enjoyed were the potatoes (more like steak fries). So sad to see one of our favorite special spots no longer on our list. read more

I had a very mixed experience on Christmas Day. On arrival I was seated at a two top next to doors that went outside. There were few tables occupied and I asked to move away from the "traffic". I was told there were reservations (I had one) and they would checked. They moved me to one of the many open 2 tops. I ordered a Spicy Bloody Mary and Brisket Hash. Both had very good flavors. As I started eating I pulled a piece of plastic about 1/16" wide and 2.5" long out of the food in my mouth. A waiter tried to convince me it was onion rather than listen to me or look at it. I laid it on the table. A manager approached quickly and apologized. He offered a new dish and I declined as I already had enough impact on my Christmas meal. The staff was very professional and friendly and wanted to make sure I was taken care of. They took care of the bill. Of course, I left a tip. When I left there were the sane number of empty tables as when I arrived. It just didn't make sense. read more

I wished I lived closer for Tillie's amazing brunch!it is a bit far but the drive isn't too bad from Austin. The restaurant is in the beautiful Camp Lucy. The interior decor is like no other restaurant that I have been to. The brunch was delicious we made a mistake of ordering the cinnamon roll as a starter since it was listed as one. We felt like we're adults and can have dessert first if we wanted to! The issue is it's massive and will fill you up. For the entree we got the seafood Benedict and brisket hash both yummy but the hash was slightly better. The Benedict is more of a croquette rather than a traditional English muffin. While making reservations for my stay in Drippimg Springs, I asked about a good dinner spot with vegetarian options. I was told Tillie's, and I promptly made a reservation. I'm so glad I did. We arrived early, and they quickly sat us. I loved walking through the doors into the beautiful space. The building is spectacular. We had a wonderful waitress who paced out the meal and gave us time to eat and catch up. We ordered a nice bottle of Willamette pinot noir, and started out with the Brussels sprouts and the focaccia. Both were delicious. Loved the ricotta and the little mixers that came with the bread. My friend had the roasted cauliflower and I had the roast chicken. Both of us were actually silent while eating because it was so good. The chicken was cooked perfect. We shared the chocolate dessert and rolled out. So very happy. Went for anniversary weekend told them that in the reservation. Sat us at a table in the middle we dealt with it, then ordered apps and salad went well, decent. Then comes the main ordered fillet it was over cooked, sent it back manager comes says 4 minutes... 20 minutes later never came had to flag waiter down to tell him to forget it. This gets better he brings free desert tell him my wife is allergic to strawberries he says it has none she starts eating he comes back and says yes sauce at the bottom has strawberry... manager never comes over just avoids us after this. Thankfully my wife is ok spend your money someplace else. Also this all took about an hour and half to not get a steak so there's that. read more

I'm rating this a 3 out of respect to other ratings as well those are who recommend plus not too overly hurt their score. However, with that being said our anniversary dinner was really a Zero. The restaurant has beautiful ambiance and truly wonderful decorations as well it was a nice touch to be seated with happy anniversary card at our table, but that's where the highlights end. We ordered our drinks, my wife a tea and myself a scotch on the rocks. My wife received her tea and about 10 min later our waiter asked if we wanted any cocktails. I politely stated I ordered a scotch and he said yes, let me get that. Our waiter was also the bartender. When I received my drink I asked if we could pls have bread & butter, the waiter said yes of course. After about another 10 min watching our waiter talk to patrons at the bar and then I asked another staff member if they could please get us bread & water. Mind you the restaurant was not very busy & staff seemed available. After asking for a second time we did receive our bread & at that point I asked for a beer. The waiter again said sure of course. And then went on to forget. After watching him at the bar talking to others again and not even making drinks and then walking to others table we had to flag him down and ask again for that beer I ordered. He clearly forgot and said yes let me get it now. When bringing back the beer my wife politely asked for a refill of her tea and once again he forgot. Again, the restaurant is set up where you can clearly see him and I maybe could understand if they were busy however he was just not present & not accommodating at all. We shared a wedge salad and when ordering I asked for extra dressing on the side never got it and at this point was not going to ask for another item a second time. The wedge was good, to be fair. Finally our food arrived, my wife ordered filet medium rare and I ordered the short rib. My wife cut into her steak and I cld tell immediately by expression that something was wrong but at same didn't want me to know. I asked her is it cooked okay and she showed me her steak was well done. She said it's fine but I was already upset how things were going and it was supposed to be a special anniversary dinner and things were just getting worse. I asked another staff member walking by if they could please help. She was a nice young lady that immediately said oh no that's definitely not medium rare. She went to get the manager and he was sorry and said they would recook another steak. My short rib at the time severed was warm but definitely not hot and the flavor for short rib was very bland. I choose not to eat anymore till my wife got her meal. I shared with the manager how experience had been so far and he said we clearly missed with your dinner. At that time all our glasses were empty for some time & he observed that at the same. My wife's steak new steak took longer the second time and seemed to have no rush replacing it The steak was good quality but similar to my short rib had little seasoning and was medium rare this time but was nothing special. My wife shared her steak with me as I did not go back to my meal. The manager did take about 60% off our bill but he just didn't do enough to save our anniversary dinner. I'm not sure what he could have done cause Even if it was comped 100% it was an extremely poor experience as so much went wrong. This restaurant was highly recommended & was just so disappointing in so many ways even few more things not even mentioned. I have to believe this was an outlier but for such bad service and the food not holding up to other reviews was just a huge fail. I will say my wife looked beautiful, I just wish I could have given her a night to remember in a good way. read more

We celebrated a birthday at Tillie's and had a wonderful experience. I was a little hesitant after reading some negative reviews, but I'm so glad we went. Manager TJ could not have been nicer--he personally apologized for the wait, offered us drinks from the bar and even brought us his favorite starter, the Portobello Frites (delicious!). Our server, Selena, was excellent and guided us through a menu full of standouts--the focaccia, short ribs, pork chop,miso seabass, and blackberry cobbler were all fantastic. Yes, we waited a little longer for our preferred booth, but it was our choice, and the beautiful atmosphere (and great cocktails) made the time pass easily. I really wanted to like this place as my father in law knows the personal history of Whit Hanks as well as the development of Camp Lucy and Tillie's. However, as beautiful as this place is, it missed the mark in so many areas and was not worth the 40 minute drive from downtown Austin. When we arrived for our reservation at 5:30 on a Sunday, there were only 3 other tables that were occupied. It was very slow and very quiet which does not make sense that it took us almost 1 & 1/2 hours to receive our main courses. Within 15-20 minutes of being seated, we ordered a bottle of wine followed by the focaccia and the winter greek salad. The focaccia was cold and the salad was bland with no seasoning and soaked in oil. We placed our main courses of the duck, crispy chicken breast and the cumin crusted cauliflower. About 10 minutes after placing our order, I realized I forgot to include the crispy potatoes. 20 minutes later, the crispy potatoes arrived and we were confused because it's a shareable side and for some strange reason, our waiter, Pierce, put the order in ahead of our meal. Nonetheless, we ate them and they were a lot better than the previous bites. We received not a single word or update and really, not even a check in from Pierce and were left to ask other waiters about the status of our meal. We then place an order for a second bottle of wine and halfway through it, we received our lukewarm main courses. There was nothing "crispy" about the chicken breast, the duck was a bit too chewy and the cauliflower had a huge inedible core. We were not pleased, but forged ahead with the nostalgia dessert and that was the best part of the meal. For the price tag of $415, there are better places I can think of to spend that kind of money. read more

Great stories about the history of the building... a historical town hall imported from Vietnam, doors from India and a chandelier from the 15th century imported from Europe. We found this place while staying in Hill Country. It was listed on Yelp. Based on the reviews and photos, we decided to give it a try. Getting there was unexpected because views and scenery is so beautiful. The restaurant is situated at Camp Lucy, near the cabin and pool area. It was such a gem. The ambiance was lovely. My husband and I had a lunch date here. Both the food and service were pretty good. We ordered the chicken sandwich and fries, along with the beef soup. We were too hungry and forgot to snap any photos of the food, but did get structural photos. Upon our next trip, we will try dinner! read more

Came to this beautiful restaurant for brunch on Sunday and our food was amazing! I really wish we'd ordered the cinnamon rolls, but I got an omelet and my partner ordered the pork chilaquiles. It did that a very long time for our food to come, and our waitress did apologize after we'd waited for awhile, but it still took at least 15 minutes after she mentioned the kitchen was backed up for us to get our food. I made a reservation for their afternoon tea service on December 7th for today at 11AM. I received a call today at 9:15AM telling me that they no longer offer this service on Thursdays, a policy they told me was implemented a month ago. When I asked why I was not told that they could not accommodate my reservation a month ago she had no explanation. They had even confirmed my reservation through Open Table on Tuesday. I was told a manager could "do something to make it right" in an hour when they get in. It is ridiculous that they could not have been up front with me a month ago. Definitely will never go to this restaurant. It would have been my first time there, but clearly they do not want my business. read more

Arrived during Happy Hour & sat in the bar & treated to hearing 2 employees complain about working with a 3rd employees & other work-related issues. NOT what customers want to listen to. Two other guests were seated at a table in the bar area while LOUDLY conducting a zoom meeting on their laptops with several other persons, which could be heard while standing in the entry area & throughout the bar. Professional management would have politely asked them to move to a more private area so others in the bar did not have to listen to their language, but that did not happen. Tried 2 appetizes & both were very subpar. First thing we noticed were tiny black ants crawling on the plates that were placed in front of us for our appetizers. Were the ants on the plates or were they wrapped up in the silverware bundles on top of the plates? We know such things are common in rural environments so we merely knocked them off, but they should have been noticed by employees before being placed in front of guests. Perhaps wrapping lots of silverware in napkins far in advance is not a good idea unless they are kept covered? The $15 deviled eggs consisted of precisely 2 eggs cut in 1/2 & it looked like an eye-dropper had been used to drop 1 tiny spec of blue cheese on top & nothing more. They were also served absolutely ice cold right out of the refrigerator. The Portobello Fries were pitched as being tempura battered but they were a total joke. Arrived soggy & greasy & looked like they had been fried in a not hot enough skillet, rather than deep fried. Who is in charge of a kitchen in the late afternoon, that would serve such stuff? Especially a place billing itself as a "luxury" facility? The property itself is truly beautiful & pleasant, but the service & food certainly did not support this claim. Final negative was the billing. Happy Hour menu states "all wines by the glass are 1/2 price", but ours were billed at slightly more than 1/2 the menu price. We were told the menu had not been updated to reflect the change in pricing. Yet another unprofessional hiccup. read more

We've dined at Tillie's for over 5 years now, for special occasions and date nights. And ALWAYS have enjoyed our experience! But have to say, the past two times now... the food and service was slow and felt rushed! Nothing came out as expected. The "Som" didn't know the wine menu, the waiter couldn't describe certain dishes. The $200 steak came out under cooked and was sent back with a microwave touch which made it uneatable! For a celebration reservation, nothing else was delivered. But the chef did come out and sing, so maybe you should go for drinks and listen to the chef sing! This went from my top place to go, to let's see what else is out there. It saddens me to say, I don't know if we will be back. Beautiful setting outside on the beach or patio or inside, but a bit hot outside with not a lot of breeze coming through. Some of the staff appeared with a bit of an attitude, others not so big, but this eve an attitude was enough to turn me off (asked for more ice or a cold towel and got a "what do think I am" face). Others were fine. Got the oysters, fabulous but so tiny they should have added a few more after looking how small they were. Still good just very disappointing, $6 for an oyster smaller than my little finger. Got the Thursday night special with double burger, small lobster tail, Caesar salad and fries. Oh, also get a glass of wine, well that was not very good but drinkable, no flavor, no body, but what can you expect for a special- I know better, but considering the prices and ambience I did expect a bit better wine. Regardless all very good although a small part of my burger tasted like they drenched it in pepper! THE BIG: Beautiful location with intricate interior design and the frame is imported from Vietnam! Classic American fare on a beautiful resort like Camp Lucy. Tons of parking available. THE BLACK AND WHITE: The wife and I dined here on a Thursday night and it was pretty easy to get a reservation. The wait staff was on point during the night. I was very impressed about the incorporation of citrus essence to the water. Aka, a waiter came around with thinly sliced grapefruit/lemon/orange and you get to choose how to infuse your water. I originally wanted to try the chicken but they were out of that protein. The special of the day was the pork elote and boy am I glad we got to try that! It was a big dish and more than enough for the both of us. The salmon gravalax was a tiny dish even for an appetizer. If I were to recommend, definitely get the pork elote. Absolutely beautifully designed restaurant! Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. He explained that the decor was internationally inspired. The restaurant itself is designed after a Vietnamese temple and the doors are from India. So cool! We stopped in for afternoon tea, and loved our experience. Our favorite item on the high tea menu were the cucumber cream cheese puffs. The sweet treats were also an absolute delight!
