Let me start by saying that I wanted to leave a good review, but it's just not happening. First when you walk in, instead of a warm welcome, you get glared at by the little girl who is the hostess. After you order your food, which the plates around us looked good, I was sadly disappointed by the burger I ordered. Husband ordered the chicken sandwich, his was great. Nice large portion. But not my meal. It was a massive patty on a tiny bun. There was no ketchup, mustard, mayo, salt, pepper, or sweetner, at the table. And while we were still getting glared at by the teenybopper by the door, I cut into the burger to see the bottom of the bun already soggy. Something that was already a turn off. When I pulled the two halves apart, it was a little hard to tell as the room is very dark, but you could see raw meat. I ordered the patty medium, so there should be very little pink or red. I used a fork to take it apart and the meat was beyond rare; it was pretty close to mooing. Our waitress, a little more friendly that the glaring teenybopper, said raw really, then ushered the plate off, came back a few minutes later to tell me they threw another patty on the grill. Let me just say at this point, I'm done. I will not eat another bite of food when I see that. I don't care if the patty comes out a hocky puck, not touching it. The waitress was like oh, okay, can I get you anything else. Hubby said the bill, wolfed down his sandwich, and we left, still getting glared at by the little girl. I was told this was a nice spot to have a good dinner, but even the table next to us had a problem with their order, the cook cooked the wrong food. I want to support local, but at this point, I would have been better off going to Whataburger or even McDonalds. Not sure what the deal is with the hostess, but learn how to host before you become the greeter, the first face we see. As for the food, I don't even know where to start. read more

This review is probably a little unfair as we were trying to get lunch during Christmas on Mercer. Really busy. Probably understaffed as well. Staff seemed flustered and lacked direction. Everything was slow. Bloody Mary's were not well made. The fried pickles and jalapeños were flavorless. Burger was over done. Loaded baked potato soup and salad were both good. We'll give 'em another try when they aren't so busy. read more

We stopped in here after going to Vintage Days. We had our pup with us and they're dog friendly so we decided to try them out. Our waitress was a sweetheart and very accomodating. She was a busy gal as they seemed a bit short-handed, and so the service time wasn't the fastest. We didn't mind though as we could tell she was busy and not just hanging out not doing her job. We sat outside in the back since we had the dog and it was a nice area with TV's and a full bar. The food was great, we both had sandwiches. The fried pickles and jalapenos are awesome and so fresh! When we're in the area again we'll def be back! And just a note regarding some of the other reviews on here for the same day we went: when you walk inside it is a very small space, so when anyone walks in people will look up, it's natural, so don't make this place sound like only locals are accepted here, that's not the case. We're not from there, we live an hour away. You're being over-sensitive for sure. There are ppl of all races and genders both working and patrons and no one made us feel unwelcome or like an outsider. Definitely give this place a try! read more

Homespun Kitchen and Bar is one of my favorite eateries in Dripping Springs. The food has alway been scrumptious and decided to return on a chilly Saturday. They have a very small bar and indoor seating that resembles a country cabin. There is also seating outside under a covered deck. I ordered the B.L.T.E.C.A. that stands for Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, over-Easy egg, sharp cheddar Cheese, and sliced Avocado. It within a grilled sourdough toast. I selected a side of mashed potatoes. The sandwich was presented very nicely and tasted very good. All the ingredients worked very well together giving great flavor including the mashed potatoes. Kudos the delicious sweet tea. read more

Just drove in for an expensive I love you forever ceremony today, wanted to eat before the wedding. This place is awesome. Full bar, very unique menu. our group comes to dripping springs once a quarter and we always go to homespun. i've had a variety of dishes there, they are usually very good. but recently, items not described - or sounding spicy arrive with a tongue blistering heat. very problematic if you are picking it up for take away. i've had to go without my dinner several times now because it is just too spicy to eat. i am not heat averse. but i think either the spice needs to be toned down or items should be posted as spicy. my red lentil & veggie soup tonight had a nice flavor, but i couldnt eat more than a few bites. friend got chicken & veggie - appeared to be the same base as lentil and it was too hot for her too. very disappointing. read more

We were visiting and decided to have lunch here on a Thursday. Their daily special on the wall included a BOGO steak burger so we ordered that, beef soup, chicken with small house salad, and chicken lettuce wraps. The burger and chicken were dry, the soup was flavorful but lukewarm, and the wraps were okay. It's a small dining area and small bar. We just moved to area and decided to try this out .... Wish we would of went elsewhere , however wanted to try it. Seeing 2 bus girls? Sitting right at the entrance folding silverware was a little weird ... and the loud rock music (well first song anyway ) was strange , even though we like rock , but so loud we opted for table in back area. The tea came in small mason jars that needed to be refilled 4 times! We ordered ck fried steak and catfish pontchartrain over crawfish etouffee, sounded great , tasted so bad we fought over who had to eat it, the stuff they called etoufee was bell peppers in a watery mess .. yuck !!! Chef needs to go see what it's supposed to be like ... not this mess. .. the ck fried was almost burnt and VERY TOUGH ! We got there about 4:30 and was told it was still lunch , so smaller portions, but was told we could order the fish dish at regular dinner price with one side , we ordered the onion rings as side but bill charged us 8 dollars extra on top of the 28 dollar fish ! we parked right in front and we think? It was a manager sitting on the Rock wall right in front of our car smoking like a chimney, the smell in car was cigarette smoke so bad we had to roll windows down half of the way home , so much for our new car smell , pretty sure there was room out back for that ,,,, pretty unprofessional over all and would not recommend wasting your money here , we won't make this mistake again ! read more

Horrible experience with Homespun this evening! I understand they were busy but we ordered & waited & waited well over an hour & still didn't get our easy appetizers! And one of our entries was Ahi Tuna! You didn't even have to cook it! We were patient but getting really hungry well over an hour! Finally got up & asked the manager how much longer. He said he could see our appetizers but the were still backed up! The Manager should have damn well the courtesy when we walked in the door to let us know that the food was backed up & we wouldn't get our food for an hour-hour & a half! We could have found another restaurant! We Finally left starving!!! By that point all the other restaurants were closing & way to late for anything else but crappy Taco Bell! I went twice while recently visiting family in the area, and both visits were good. The service is really good, always friendly and upbeat. Foodwise, I would recommend a few more vegetarian options. There was a single vegetarian/vegan option on the menu, a Buddha bowl. While tasty enough with roasted sweet potatoes and garbanzo beans, , portion-wise it was vastly smaller than the other entrees despite being similarly priced. For example, the chicken fried steak is more than one human can (or at least should) eat, but yet the Buddha bowl is sized like an appetizer, if that. My husband ended up ordering a second one, and I ordered fries to go with mine because it was so tiny. The drinks were good - the Mexitini is insanely huge! There was live music on the front patio on one of our visits, and while he was super talented, it made it a bit hard to have conversation. Still, it was a good vibe. We stopped by here for a birthday brunch while in dripping springs for a wedding. Food was great. We had the big a$$ bloody Marys, which was like a whole separate meal. Fries are really good. It's amazing how a little attention to detail and some spice can really upgrade basic fries. More places should bother. The BLTECA looked simple on arrival but the flavor was delicious. Quavo rancheros looked great. Casual ambience and delicious chili and down-home wait staff make this a great authentic place to stop for deliciousness. What a delightful find in a small town for a healthy farm to table restaurant! The staff was extremely nice and gave great recommendation. We ordered the grilled shrimp tostadas, chicken fried steak, and the fried catfish ponchartrain. Tostados we're so yummy, chicken fried steak came with a nice creamy gravy, the catfish was cooked well but was a bit under seasoned. We also got key lime pie and ores cheesecake. The key lime was incredible! Overall a great place with good food and amazing drinks! Definitely will be coming back! read more

This is our new go to in dripping springs. The dishes are solid southern comfort food, the drink options many, and the ambiance is genuine. The people really make this spot special. Everyone is nice, friendly, and authentic. They have musicians almost every night, and plenty of indoor or outdoor seating. The food was also good. The chicken fried chicken with gravy was a favorite of ours. The chicken was cooked so well- crispy but not dry. Shrimp tostadas were surprisingly delicious, but the best thing we had was the key lime pie. I normally dont do dessert but YOU HAVE TO. Its the owners own recipe and it's amazing. Pair that with one of their many great cocktails to the music backdrop and you will have a great night! Overall highly recommend- We will be back for sure. read more

We tried this as a 1st time on Mother's Day. Big disappointment. If you are looking for more traditional brunch breakfast food, this isn't your place. I had the eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, potatoes and sourdough toast plate. The "ham" is 1 piece of Canadian bacon. The sausage was from a frozen section at the grocery store. The sourdough toast was literally bread from the grocery store and not even toasted. The potatoes were barely cooked. The chicken and waffles that my husband and son ordered seemed a bit better than my meal. Nothing special though. Ambiance is very crammed. Service was ok. read more

After getting some recommendations for eateries in the Dripping Springs area we were down to try this place while on our visit. The server was incredibly friendly and very helpful. We ordered Fried Green Tomatoes...we should have stopped there. They were incredibly bland and unexciting. My wife went ahead and ordered the chicken fried steak and I ordered a specialty burger. I watched my wife try to desperately season her food. Mine was mediocre at best but the meat tasted funny. I thought maybe it was just the way it was prepared. I spent the later part of the evening throwing up and then experienced lower GI distress. I will remember this place but for all the wrong reasons. read more

Absolutely terrible service. Server said she could honor the lunch special even though it was after 2 but then came back to take our order and said she couldn't. Then the bill comes and the apps are full price when they should be 1/2 off. She corrects the bill and brings it back but never came back to cash us out so we left the most cash we had which just covered the bill unfortunately not leaving much of a tip - the dining room was entirely empty at this point so I have no idea why there was such a long wait to come back to our table. The alcohol is a strong pour. I'm sure no one complains of this. The food the last two times ....was chilli with no beef... tomatoes and onions only. Salad with very little salad ... not sure how you can mess that up ... but no. Servers ... well let's say inconsistent. Bout the only thing going for them in the out side entertainment. In response to your comment....The manager did not attempt to talk to "our group." There were just 2 of us sitting at the bar. He/she never came over or even tried to approach us as we left. The situation also did not escalate from our perspective. I simply asked her a couple of questions because we felt like we were being verbally attacked and treated rudely. When I tried to further ask questions, she became even more hostile...I guess she thought I was arguing with her. This couldn't be further from the truth. She said we had been there since 10am ordering doubles...but I didn't even get into town until at least 11:30, so we arrived at the restaurant at noon at the earliest. We have been to Homespun many times, have sat outside at the bar and ordered drinks with no issue whatsoever. Again just truly shocked by the experience and your bartender should probably be drug tested. read more

A friend and I decided to do some short small town trips around San Marcus, and Dripping Springs was one of those towns. For lunch, we stopped at a Homespun Kitchen, which was recommended. I was very glad we did. We both ordered their chicken salad sandwich, which came with a side of fries. It was delicious. Their menu was pretty good and it was actually hard to choose. They have a good food variety and prices were not bad. This place seems to be very popular because it was fairly full at the time we came. Homespun Kitchen has a very cozy feel and staff was amazing. Our waiter was charming and very funny. I recommend stopping here to anyone visiting Dripping Springs. read more

What an adorable old school building. This building has such a cute feel. When you walk inside the entrance way, right off the bat you see an amazing liquor selection at the bar. When you walk into the dining area, the liquor selection just looks that much better, As they use high end whiskey and tequila boxes to decorate the mantel and the bathroom. It's a great idea even though it obviously is just easy decor. FOR THE FOOD! I had the shrimp tostada appetizer, which was delicious but I was disappointed that the "tostadas" were just mini round chips from a Tostitos bag. But they were still so good, the shrimp was cooked perfect and the other toppings were great. My parents both got the catfish plates with fries, which was both pretty good plates. The difference in amount of fish each plate had was pretty different. One plate had about 6 full pieces and then my mothers had only 3 full pieces and a handful of catfish trimmings.
