I've been here a few times with my in-laws and every time it's been great. It's a quaint little restaurant, but a great ambience and great service. Easily the best Italian food I've had in Mahopac and always my go to when visiting. I would recommend the chicken vodka parm. Just look out the portions are huge! Great spot! read more

We admired the decor..Candlelight, warm woods and colors, lots of beautiful exposed brick, and if you see custom artwork of Frank Sinatra hanging on the wall of an Italian restaurant, there's a great chance you are in for a delicious meal..and that proved true in this case. Baked Claims were yummmmy! My Chicken Scarp was the best I've had in years. My wife loved her homemade pasta. Delicious bread and a bottle of wine. This place is something special!!! We had appetizers first, calamari and octopus. Both were cooked to perfection. OMG out of this world taste!!! Then, for entrees. we had Osso Bucco!!! I just can't say enough, but ohh, my gosh. Decided to try Trattoria Sei for our News Years Dinner with some friends. We had an 8:00 reservations and were seated by 8:10, which is completely understandable on a holiday. The doors was excellent I had the Pollo Scarpariello and can honestly say I was shocked to have finished the whole plate, it was that good. My three companions all had the Pollo Milanese and all loved how good the Chicken Cutlet was. My only complaint and the reason for the 4 stars was the server forgot to bring us any bread, it wasn't a big deal but still details like this shouldn't be overlooked. As for the ambiance the smell of delicious food and the pizza oven hit you as you walk in the door and you get the warm homey feel of a great local Italian restaurant. I highly recommend giving them a try and will definitely go back. read more

Extremely Disappointing Experience Our recent visit to this restaurant was one of the most unpleasant dining experiences we've ever had. The restaurant has recently changed ownership, and unfortunately, one of the new owners, Jennifer, showed an appalling lack of professionalism and courtesy. Our party of six had been waiting for over an hour when one of our friends received her Parma pizza, described on the menu as containing prosciutto di Parma, rucola, and parmesan. However, it arrived drizzled with balsamic glaze, an ingredient not listed. She politely asked if it could be remade without it. Rather than apologizing or offering to prepare a fresh pizza, Jennifer became visibly irritated. She instructed the cook to remove the toppings by hand and replace them on the same pizza base. When my friend witnessed this and declined to eat a pizza handled that way, Jennifer dismissively replied that it was fine because "the cook had gloves on." This response was unprofessional, unhygienic, and completely unacceptable. When my friend then asked for a simple Margherita instead, Jennifer refused and declared that the kitchen was closed for us at 8:00 p.m. She told us to leave immediately, stating we wouldn't be charged. Not only was our birthday celebration ruined, but the lack of respect shown by the owner was alarming. There was no apology, accountability, or attempt to resolve the situation in an appropriate manner. To make matters worse, after our negative reviews, the owner responded aggressively online and appeared to either create or encourage fake positive reviews to counter our negative ones. One even insulted our group of hardworking women, calling us "street cats" and suggesting the police should have been called. This behavior is unacceptable for any business. If you care about good food, fair treatment, and basic customer respect, steer clear of this restaurant. The food was mediocre, the service appalling, and the owner's attitude beyond unprofessional. read more

I'm not from the area so I took a chance on yelp and the reviews and I'm so glad I did! Our dinner was delicious from appetizer to dessert. We ordered off the menu and the specials and they did not disappoint. The ambiance was fun and upbeat. We enjoyed the happy birthday jams that popped up every so often with someone celebrating. The young man at the front desk actually turned his back on us and never acknowledged that the four of us were standing in front of his desk. This restaurant is very pleasing. The newly appointed interior looked warm and inviting but I chose to have lunch yesterday in the tent at the side. My server was friendly, polite and obviously had a good knowledge of Italian food. I ordered the Soup fo the Day - Pasta e Fagioli and Milanese de Pollo and a glass of Montepulciano. The soup was lovely and hot and stayed hot which was good. The chicken cutlet and salad was properly done and the dressing on the side. I probably would have preferred a simple oil and vinegar dressing. There was also a lot of cubes of Mozzarella cheese on top. So if you like Mozzarella this is an added surprise. I saw another table share a gorgeous heaped plate of pasta that looked delicious. But that will have to wait. Can recommend this restaurant and wish them well during these hard times read more

We had a great dinner! We ordered for appetizers the meatballs which were cooked perfectly and so tasty. Also the Burrata it was so fresh, it came with prosciutto and pickled eggplant. For entrees we had the bronzino, it was flavorful with plenty of sauce and capers. The Ahi shrimp scampi had really big tasty shrimp and the Carminooch that had the beggars purses with pees and ham in a cream sauce was very tasty! I just wish they gave you warm bread at the table instead of cold Italian bread, that's the only thing I wish they change. Other then that great job!! read more

The current owners took over Gino's in February and used the shutdown to full advantage. The building was redone inside and out and the results are impressive. The interior is comfortable and nicely appointed. The exterior is classy and modern. The professionalism extends into the kitchen. We have dined here twice and been blown away by both the quality and presentation. I selected an entree from their specials menu on both occasions and was rewarded with an exceptional meal. On our last visit, we had an appetizer with huge, tasty mussels and I had the Chilean Sea Bass entree with crabmeat. We finished both meals with the rainbow cake even though we usually skip dessert. At most restaurants in Mahopac, service tends to be sloppy and amateurish. At Sei, everyone that came to out table was professional, friendly and efficient. Well done for a place that has only been open for a month and exceptional considering the crazy mask requirements. The only gripe I have is the limited wine list. Our server was able to get us a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc even though it didn't appear on the list. Pricing is reasonable even for the specials. read more
