I have been here before with my grandpa because it's his favorite restaurant in the Bedford Hills/Katonah area in West Chester. I was really in the mood this time for the caesar salad and I wanted to try the spaghetti and meatballs since I wasn't a huge fan of the (not so baked) baked ziti. The caesar salad had the perfect dressing to lettuce ratio and there weren't too many croutons. I was a big fan of the spaghetti. The meatballs were the perfect size and the pasta wasn't too salty. I also noticed how the pasta wasn't over or undercooked. I could also tell that my dad and my grandpa really enjoyed their meals as well. The food quality was great and our service was impeccable. Our server was helpful and was able to answer all of my questions. The server was also very helpful when it came to taking care of my grandpa who had trouble seeing the menu. She brought an extra light to the table in order for him to see the menu which was really kind. In general I would say that I enjoy my trips to Katonah and I think it's pretty cool how the owners of the restaurant had the idea to convert the old train station into the restaurant. If you look closely you can see that there are some elements of the restaurant that make it appear as if you are in an old fashioned train station but I am confused by all of the horses although I do love them. read more

Some of the food was a little bland, specifically the tomato sauce. The free garlic bread and salad were good. The service was indifferent. The waitress forgot to give us menus even though we were the only customers. It could have been better. read more

We came with friends. Service was fine, Miriam was very attentive. The fare is standard, rater pricey, and like most Italian restaurants, the pasta is oversauced, drowning the flavors. My ziti with eggplant was okay, but the eggplant, and even the ziti were overshadowed by the sauce. The place, a former train station, is attractive. When we asked to split the bill, the manager (?) said they couldn't do that, which was unfortunate. Not sure we'll come back. read more

Everything we tried was delicious! The staff was great as well. I tried the peplino's special martini, it was Limoncello flavored and so good. The escargot was lemony and herbly. calamari was cooked perfectly, crispy and not too chewy. And the bruschetta was very tasty. And to top it off the cannoli was soo good. Crunchy and the filling wasn't too heavy. I would go back if I lived in the area! read more

My wife and I along with my cousin and his wife went for dinner last Sunday and couldn't have been happier. Great food, service and atmosphere as it's the old Katonah train station which has retained all its charm and rustic feel. A great find. read more

Always frustratingly packed and a bit pricey, but the best Italian in Katonah or nearby. The chicken Francese was juicy, tangy, and just excellent. Beautiful place too, in the old historic K-town train station. Service is excellent and the seasoned waitress got me a bangin affogato off-menu for dessert. read more

Somehow after living in the area for over 20 years I had never been here. Finally went for lunch with friends and the food is good - I just think it's overpriced. Entrees are $29-40 even for basic pasta dishes. The ambiance is a very relaxing rustic barn style with dark wood and pleasant lighting. Staff were all wonderful as well. I just don't think the food is worth the price - doubtful I'll be back because there are so many good Italian joints to choose from that don't break the bank. read more

Made a reservation on a recent Saturday night for outdoor seating, When we arrived, we were told there was no outdoor seating, and were shown to a table, with no explanation or apology. Overall, both the hostess and the waitress were rather abrupt and quite unfriendly. The food was average, at best, and some dishes were very overpriced. There are plenty of Italian restaurants around that at least have friendly, courteous service. I won't be returning to Peppino's. read more

My wife & I had dinner with another couple - each had an appetizer, a meal and one drink. $185 per couple. The issue - ALL THE MEALS WERE OVER SALTED. My wife requested another Cod dinner with cauliflower with NO SALT. I cannot understand how a chef can serve ALL his meals over salted. Even the meatball appetizer was over salted. ZERO creativity for any unique flavors / taste. The customer can always add salt, you can never take it away. Over priced and NEVER going back. Will never promo. I am better off going to Roma's in Tuckahoe for a $27 breadcrumb Cod fish over risotto Helen our server was WONDERFUL. BTW - I woke up that night at 3:00 AM thirsty as heck and never really fell back asleep - my body was reacting to the sodium overdose. read more

I'm sad to say that I was disappointed. Haven't been here in almost a year, but we were excited to bring our friends. Our table was thankfully tucked away in a corner which gave us a buffer from the noise. Definitely felt like more tables were crammed in which felt tight Acoustics were tough. Hard to converse with our friends. Food was...good? Meaning a mixture of really good and average. Long hot peppers were different. I seem to recall that they were longer and not as hot. I'm a person who likes spicy food, but if you have to down 2 glasses of water after eating one pepper, time to rethink it. Shrimp was good but sauce a little oily. Cavatelli and broccoli very good Halibut very good. Salad a little sparse and not seasoned as well. Wait staff delightful but spread thin, so the wait for ordering, then serving was not paced well. Overall, we could have chalked it up to an off night. But we felt bad that we had raved to our friends and then didn't deliver the best experience. I might come back again, but since this was so different from prior visits, I'm not sure. Also need to mention that the prices are very high. I know every place has gone up in price but this seemed really high. read more

One of THEEEEEE BEST Italian restaurants I've ever eaten at. The gravy for the pasta is to DIE FOR!!! I can just eat it by the spoonful. I always try the specials and they are delicious. From bronzino to lobster ravioli to whatever. It's always good. I don't like pasta except when I put Peppino's gravy on it. Then I LOVEEE pasta! This is a family style local restaurant that has good quality Italian fare. However, in the past 3 years, they have out-priced the menu to where it sits with typical 4-5 star restaurants and the value is gone, gone, gone. Even worse, it used to have the best pizza in northern Westchester County and they dropped it complete from the menu several years ago. Unfortunately, Peppino's has gone from our go-to family style to our last option. If we want to spent 5 start prices, we'll go to any number of superior premium options. :( read more

We always go to Peppjno's for a special occasion! I love this Italian restaurant in Katonah. The restaurant is in the remolded original Katonah Metro station. Besides it having historical reference, the wait staff is some of the friendliest people that you will ever meet. As soon as we came in, it felt like going to a family's house. The food is excellent.. I mean outstanding! And such generous portions! We went during Father's Day weekend and it was wonderful. So disappointing would never go back The food was expensive and terrible. We ordered a beet salad that tasted and looked like canned beets, the meatball special had a weird texture and tasted like bread with a pile of sauce. The Pasta Alla Vodka was so watery and salty it was inedible and the mozzarella sticks seemed like a cheap frozen brand. it was rather a hassle to make a reservation. The salad that came with our entrées was nothing special. We were set up to being disappointed but when the entrées came out we both perked up. First of all the servings were massive. It seemed to us that the pasta was freshly made and the red sauce was great. My wife had lasagna, which consisted of two very large pieces. Been here twice so far and there's really no comparison between here and Blue Dolphin. While this has that classic vibe and menu, the entrees consistently fail to live up to that classic, delicious Italian taste - the gnocchi and the chicken Parmesan tasted like frozen or cheap quality. Spidini a la Romano was pretty ordinary, seemed a bit too eggy. Main courses/ Pollo Francese for my wife and Rigatoni Bolognese for me were both very good. Prices are on the high side with a drink each the bill was $110 without the tip but that's about what dining out costs these days. read more

Not a good italian restaurant. I went with a friend from out of town who loves italian food so we went to Peppinos. Not only did we wait 40 mins past our reservation time the second we sat down we felt rushed the whole time. Finally after finishing our meal they asked us to pay and leave. I have lived in the area of this restaurant for 25 years and have always had a "decent/not great" experience at this spot, but limited options in the area kept me coming back occasionally. Last night convinced me to never go back. The prices are outrageous for very mediocre food. A simple Gorgonzola salad with added shrimp was $38. When I questioned our sever about the up charge for the added (dry and tasteless) shrimp she let me know that there was a $4/piece charge for the shrimp. Ridiculous. My group of 6 friends all agreed that Pepinnos is no longer and option for any of us. read more

I liked the ambiance of the place, but their food is way overpriced. You get large portions, however a simple dish like eggplant parmigiana did not measure up to the $28 price tag. We did have dessert and cappuccino which were both very good and the appetizer we ordered was good as well. The staff was attentive, gave us great service and were very nice. The ambiance is very nice, our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The food was good but overpriced. $45 for blackened swordfish. The meatball appetizer was GREAT but calamari was pale and tasteless and very small portion. The garlic bread needed more garlic and should be served warm. If you want authentic Italian food or well prepared FRESH fish dishes, go across the street to Blue Dolphin (go early, since they are much too busy to take reservations) or a few miles north to Purdy's Farmer & the Fish (they do take & honor reservations). Now, here are the details: Lobster ravioli: both the sauce and the pasta were processed. No lobster chunks and no indication that a chef put any effort into preparing either. Sole: fish was mushy and translucent - a sure sign that it was frozen, thawed and perhaps re-frozen. Family style salad: greens were a mixture of old brown wilted lettuce and newer green and red lettuce. You have to sort out the bad stuff; my wife, who grew up in Italy, simply would not risk it. Both entrees were disproportionately overpriced. We've lived here now for 8 years and thought we'd give it a try after the mixed reviews. This is our last visit. read more

Amazing food, but bad experience tonight. Opened up our linguine with clam sauce to find a giant dead black fly nestled in the clams. Understand things happen, but would have been nice if the restaurant at least apologized after we had to drive all the way back. They acted like it was no big deal. New Year's Eve. It was crowded. NO ONE - not the owner, not the host, not the wait staff - wore a mask, despite the state mandate. To make things worse, I ordered a pricey steak, medium rare. It was delivered medium well, and when I complained to the owner and wait person, I was told that I could either accept it as is or wait for a new one, which they said would take a long tine, since the kitchen was already so busy. No discount was given when the check came. I do not recommend this place, which used to be a favorite. read more

We have been going here for years but unfortunately things seem to be going in the wrong direction. Two of us ordered pasta and the third ordered a special. Both pasta dishes were smothered in diced tomatoes rather than the lovely sauce of yesteryear. The house salad, which had always been bountiful, is now mostly cucumbers and not enough for the table. The highlight of the meal was the cheesecake. LUNCH for our party of 3 (no appetizers but a glass of wine each) came to 209.00 W/O tip. We had not been here in a while and were expecting a great experience. Service was good. Nice atmosphere. Good location with easy parking. If we would have stopped at the house salad and beet salad we would have been good! Chicken Scarp was bland according to my partner and the eggplant parm was the same. My partner said the pasta with a marinara sauce was like they dumped a jar of the worst sauce on it and served. The side of broccoli was just steamed with no garlic or anything. It was disappointing.
