We bought a groupon and traveled to Costa Rica with Travel by Jen. It was a great experience and I would do it again! We were met at the airport by a clean cut driver with a sign showing our last names. All the hotels were beautiful and clean. The San Jose hotel could have been a little more updated but it was clean and we were only there for a night. Great experience overall read more

I booked a trip to Mexico and lori Susie my excursion agent lied to me about the info for an excursion that was 100. Then while I learned about it while in Mexico and I kept trying to get in contact she does not reply. So I just cancel wiTh the resort book another excursion on my 5 day stay and when I got baCk I called/ said I would get the refund in 2-3 business days. Three weeks past no returned. We used this travel company only because we got a great deal on Groupon for an all inclusive resort in Mexico. I would definitely not recommend. It is very hard to get anyone on the phone and get any assistance with reservations while traveling. I had my agents direct line and always had to leave a message. Previously when traveling I have always booked my own reservations and I have to say based on my experience with this company I will go back to doing that in the future! I read the reviews and figured the experience must be largely based on the individual agent you deal with so we decided to give it a shot. Our agent turned out to be much like the others in the bad reviews. Booking was a 3.5 hour ordeal on the phone, much of that being time spent on hold. It took over an hour to actually reach an agent and when I finally did I was placed back on hold multiple times, once for over 45 min. After booking I had to send multiple e-mails and phone messages to get my travel insurance quote and then our itinerary. They booked our ride service for the wrong hotel. The ride service had told me to contact my agent to straighten it out for the return trip. I emailed and called him and when he finally got back to me he told me I should call the ride company. I was out of the country and had to pay $5 to make that call and correct their mistake. Based on poor customer care, long hold times, and the lack of quick response when assistance is needed I would definitely suggest you look elsewhere to book your vacation! read more

BUYER BEWARE!!! I purchased a trip from them and unfortunately days before my mom and I were supposed to leave my dad ends dup in the hospital. Even with proof and letters from the hospital they will NOT refund my money! I asked fro credit for future travel and they denied me also. They said "There is also no credit that you are going to be receiving especially for cancelling within 3 days of travel. The only way to get possibly get a credit is to sign the cancellation form, though that is not guaranteed." If I sign the cancellation form I am agreeing that I will never get a refund! Their website says "We will not only book your trip, but will advise you on what vacation is best for you and your budget! At Travel By Jen, we treat everyone as if they were family". If they treated me like family they would understand and wish my dad a speedy recovery! Instead they took off with my $2,468.00 and stopped responding to me! DO NOT USE, SAVE MONEY, STRESS, AND TIME, STAY AWAY! Do yourself a favor, don't use a travel agency, especially this one! This company turned me into an avid review reader, for if I had been one before I could have avoided this horribly stressful experiences all together. I had been to Costa Rica 3 times prior to this trip, I thought by using a travel agency this would have been a trip of convince and relaxation. I don't even know where to start. The first part of the trip was fine, the second was horrible. I'm not some stuck up white guy kind of American, but when you send me to a beach town that is supposed to be "paradise" and it turns out to be a drug infested unsafe decerped shit hole I'm not going to be happy. Now this wasn't even that bad of a thing I'm an optimist so whatever, it just would have been nice to have had some kind of an accurate perception before I got there. I know I should have looked into the place before I went, but I was using a travel agent, C'MON MAN! I guess that what you get for booking the cheap deal on Groupon. This is where things get bad. Before this everything wasn't that big a deal. On the return part of the trip our travel agent made a mistake on our return itinerary. This ended up costing me and my partner a lot of extra $$$. We were told to return our rental car at the wrong location, then when we got to the correct location (the one next to the airport) we were too late to catch are flight home. Now in the heat of the situation we weren't looking for who to blame we just needed to get home. We didn't just miss are initial departure flight but we missed are connecting one to that wasn't a part of the deal. The air line quoted us something like $2400 to get back the next day, if my girlfriend hadn't turned on her help me tears we might have ended up at the embassy. They gave us a discounted price for something like $400 each, then we had to pay for another connecting flight that was like $150 each, and we had to find another place to stay for the night, along with travel to and from the airport. Now my girlfriend and I weren't really concerned about who was to blame at the time, hell I thought messed it all up. So, the thing is there's this two-hour check in policy for international flights you don't get through the gate if you're out side of that window. Also, the rental place didn't open intel 2 hours before our flight was supposed to leave. We could have dropped it off outside of the place, but they were supposed to take us to the airport, (travel agencies remember! Convince!) and they told us to drop the car off across town near the hotel they put us up in that night. So we're just screwed. When got home we contacted Travel by Jen, and they were very hard to get a hold of, they ignored us, no help, hostile, and blamed us. I've investigated suing them i.e. small claims court for the $1500 extra we spent but after researching what kind of rag tag company this is (not mentioning the emotional distress), it's obvious they wouldn't adhere or respect any king of legal outcome... they don't care small claims doesn't bother or scare them, their customers don't scare them, they just suck. So, at the end of the day we got an extra day on our vacation, witch kind of made up for the shitty place they sent us. Kicker is I planned out the whole last day without any help from a travel agent, and the next morning I got to the airport on time. So just do it yourself I learned my lesson hopefully you don't have too. read more

Our trip was perfect, it was simple everything the ad said was exactly what we got, our itinerary was pin point Great job Debbie. If you know what you're getting and read it as is then you will have no complaints, Debbie even sent me the email for the early flight check in. Flight was easy, got to the hotel for free, checked in the hotel in 5 mins. We were in our room within 15 mins, the room was beautiful with an amazing view. I am really disappointed in this travel service. While I enjoyed my trip overall, there were many problems I encountered along the way. First of all, each time I spoke with a travel agent they were rude and not very helpful. Not to mention its very hard to get ahold of your assigned agent as not just any agent will help you. Second of all, the package I purchased specifically says FIVE nights yet we were only booked for four. On the fifth day we when we were supposed to arrive home, the flight booked was ridiculously early in the morning. The hotel is 2-3 hours away from the airport, so we needed to leave by 3:30am to get there on time. Third, the voucher given to us for transportation to and from the airport, (which I paid extra for), did not have ANY information about being picked up from the hotel to the airport. The phone number of the car service listed on the voucher was not valid. So the night before our flight home, I was scrambling trying to figure out when and if we were being picked up. The hotel had no idea what was going on and I wasnt able to make phone calls on my cell as I couldn't make international calls to contact travel by jen. I emailed travel by jen's after hours contact info and while there was a prompt response, I was told I needed to call my assigned agent, even though in my email I specifically made it very clear I was not able to make phone calls. Fourth, the traveling process was miserable. The whole process took approx 24 hours when it sholdve only been 9 or 10. The airline we were assigned had seats that were extremely uncomfortable because the seats were so small that I was packed like a sardine for 7 hours. Not to mention there was a four hour layover, and had to take another two hour flight in addition to a 3 hour car ride to get to the hotel. Fifth, the hotel was less than desirable. It's an all inclusive resort, which is nice, but the food was absolutely terrible and many things in our room didnt work, including the phone, tv, remote, and air conditioning. The cleaning service did not come every day to clean the room. Out of the four days we were there our room was only cleaned twice. The first time they did not change the sheets or refill the minibar or take out the trash. The blanket on the bed smelled and had stains on it. We found 2 cockroaches in the bathroom sink. The pool closes at 6, which makes absolutely no sense. The beach and water were FILTHY and brown with soo much seaweed. Needless to say, I will think twice before purchasing a package from travel by Jen in the future as should you. read more

I wouldn't recommend going with this company for your vacation. Very long hold times, shady business practices, and terrible communication. Every time I call I am put on hold for about 15-20 minutes. Jake (Jacob) is not helpful or professional, at all. He says he will call back or work on something for you, and just doesn't bother. He quoted me one price and then when I called back to purchase, he completely changed the price and "policy." I ended up booking everything separate and saved $150. read more

STAY AWAY! DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES! Had major communication issues while using them to accommodate my vacation. They take zero responsibility for lack of communication and blame the airlines or you for any issue. In my case I missed my flight and booked on another airline to get my vacation. Spoke to them and sent them my new flight confirmation and left them voice-mail to confirm I was going to be at the hotel, they did not respond to my voice mail where I asked for confirmation that everything was okay. They sent email saying "thank you" that's it. No call back nothing. You would think it would be important firbthe to be as helpful as possible. When coming back home the airline told me my flight was canceled since I did not fly with them, long short story I got home. When I asked the travel by Jenny agent why she did not relay this information to me she told me " it's common sense". So I am guessing it's common sense to realize all these things on your own. She told me it was an airline issue not an issue on their side. I will never use them again and do not recommend them! read more

This is my second time using travel by Jen. I got a really good package for the price I paid. I was impressed w/ 2/3 hotels that we stayed at. The airline we took was spirit. (which we should have just paid for the upgrade because we needed up spending $200 anyways to check in our baggage). We stayed in hotel los Lagos in Costa Rica (which had an amazing view, right next to the volcano but the beds were as hard as a rock). Our car that was included in our package was almost brand new and fuel efficient. Then we stayed in margaritaville in gunnacaste which was a beautiful resort but like any place you travel to, you need to watch your stuff. Out of our hotel room my book and an expensive pair of sunglasses were missing. There was a couple we knew who had gotten their room broken into at night (because they left the sliding glass door open) which was kind of worrisome. They definitely need to up their security. The last hotel we stayed, I wasn't impressed at all. In San Jose we stayed in authentico hotel, where you could hear the cars, everyone in the rooms next to you and the bed again was as hard as a rock. But it was strategically located near our airport which was very convenient. Overall the people seemed nice, hotels were good (expect for the few hiccups) and the food was good. For the price I solidly give 4/5 stars. Will be using them again for future travels. read more

Worst customer service ever!!! I saw their groupon for a Cozumel vacation. It said the children under 18 do not need a groupon and receive a discounted rate. When I called travel by Jen, the rep was very rude and short with me. He said I did not a groupon for my 15 year old but not my 12 year old. I told him the dates I wanted to go. He put me on hold. After 15 minutes of holding I hung up. I was ready to pay for my trip but after being ignored like that, I am not about to hand my money over to this "company". I use groupon all the time and usually they partner with reputable companies. They need to drop Travel By Jen. This company is the worst customer service I have experienced in s long time. I booked a trip through Groupon and Travel by Jen. It was for the Dominican Republic. The hotel was horrible, and refused to give us a refund even though we wanted to check out the very next day. When I contacted Travel by Jen and spoke with Danielle she said she would try to get us a different hotel, but that didn't happen. We ended up spending $1100 more for a decent hotel, and when we asked for a refund she said we would have to remove our review, sign a release form, and they would then "consider" a refund. She was rude, told me my review was slanderous and untrue, and wouldn't even give me a chance to talk. These people are not professionals. Just look at all the bad reviews.... We booked a trip to Costa Rica for this past July through Travel by Jen that was to include 8 nights of hotels in three different locations. When we arrived at the second hotel, we were told we did not have a reservation. We tried calling Travel by Jen and no one answered. Eventually, the hotel clerk was able to find a "local" representative who told us we were on our own. Being left without accommodations in a foreign place was awful. After some work, and time away from our vacation, we were able to find a hotel. It is now more than two months later and we are still trying to get reimbursed for the costs we incurred when booking our own hotel. Travel by Jen is only offering a partial refund, plus a voucher to their company which they know we will never use. Do not use them! read more

Gosh I wish I had read these reviews before booking travel with "Travel by Jen," "Jetset," or whatever this awful excuse for a business wants to call themselves. I had the unfortunate experience of working with Jetset while booking a trip to Costa Rica that I, and 11 other of my family members, had purchased through Living Social. Let's just say that the amount of time I spent on the phone and emailing JetSet to correct all the mistakes they made, I could have booked the entire trip myself for the same amount of money, or less, and with FAR LESS HEADACHE. I absolutely hated every second of working with you, JetSet, and I regret ever booking my trip through you!!!!!! I will NEVER EVER EVER use your services again, and quite honestly, I hope you go out of business so that no one else ever has to be duped into using your poor excuse for a "service" ever again either. Here are some of the highlights: 1) Call them all you like, they'll answer 1 out of every 10 calls. 2) They are rude as all heck. 3) You'll be lucky if they get your information right. Even though we EMAILED them all of our information, they still somehow managed to get our Names and Date of Births wrong on our travel documents. Then we had to follow up with them MULTIPLE times to get it corrected. 4) They charged us extra money to get a direct flight from LA to Costa Rica. Turns out, we apparently needed to specify that we wanted a NON-STOP flight, not a DIRECT flight, because they used our money to get us a flight that stopped in Guatemala, but because we didn't have to de-board the plane, it was considered direct. Except that wasn't even the case on the way home, we DID have to de-board the plane, so their promises were FALSE and they would NOT give us a refund for their lies. 5) We found out that they had somehow booked half of our group to go to Arenal the first part of the trip, and the other half of the group to go to Playa Hermosa. Thank GOD my Aunt caught this error, or our group would have been crossing paths instead of traveling together. In general, we had to scrutinize every last detail that JetSet handled, because everything they touched was WRONG. After months of arguing with them and complaining to Living Social, we almost cancelled our trip the week before because our information was STILL incorrect. We were terrified of showing up in Costa Rica and not actually having rooms or rental cars booked. It worked out ok in the end, but honestly for all the stress we dealt with, it was NOT worth it one bit. The trip wasn't that great to make up for it. DO NOT WORK WITH THEM! Travel By Jen and Jetset Vacations are one in the same. Booking with Jetset Vacations in not a problem. The transaction is not the issue. It is Jetset's lack of full disclosure. We recently booked a 7 day trip to Costa Rica from Sept 19th 2012 for one week. What Jetset does not tell you is the details. Here are the details: ---Your flight will be from 10am - 5pm. You will get your Adobe rental car (standard) included. Driving an automatic is extra $, but to fully insure your car you will pay $380USD over 7 days (including a necessary GPS). So check with your credit card company first to see if you have auto insurance coverage and how much for total loss on a vehicle. Also, if you don't fully insure the car for total loss, they will hold $800USD on your credit car vs. $300 if you do. ---Once you get your car, the sun will be setting by 6pm. So you will be driving at night. We had to go to Arenal. That is a 3 hour and 45 minute drive with 75% of the way up and down a winding mountain in complete darkness with, pot holes, speed bumps, and FOG that you can't see beyond 10 metres. ----At all the resorts you will be staying at Tico's and their families have the run of the place at any time, but mostly on weekends. They will show up by the hundreds, with children in tow, speaking Spanish only, and using all the common areas that you will be using. That is the restaurants, pool, beach, beach chairs, and anything else you may want to partake in as a guest. This is exactly what happened in Punta Leona (close to Jaco). Jetset organized this vacation for us, but now that we know better, we would never use them again. "Robert Phillips" the owner/complaints rep, fully tried to tell us we were wrong about all of the above as though we had not personally experienced it, and had explanations for EVERYTHING. He was not helpful at all, and did not offer any kind words, or compensation. We had even upgraded on the hotels (the only upgrades we ever saw on their website), but they were still very basic rooms with issues. Basically he put the blame on us for not reading information that was not on their website at the time, and not seeing a missing "page 6" of emailed documents to us. Then he wanted us to give him a signed letter to send to the hotels about our issues with them. Really?! Is that my second job now? To fix travel issues for this company? Travel By Jen and Jetset Vacations is in business to offer cheap, packaged, unsatisfying vacations to a very expensive Costa Rica (a beer is $7 everywhere). They are not in the business of providing good customer service, and owning up to their mistakes. I will be reporting them to the BBB. read more

I would give no stars to this company if i could. I called today (09.19.2013) regarding the Groupon offer for the trip to Costa Rica. I asked the rep I reached by phone a simple question: "What dates are available in December for departure from Boston?" The rep ("Jessica") did not know, so she asked me to "hold on a minute." 16 minutes later she finally came back on the line only to announce that she did not have any info and would have to take my number and call me back. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was hung up on or disconnected. When I did reach a supervisor ("Matt") he could provide no info about travel dates. He did however become very defensive when I dared question the wisdom of leaving a potential customer on hold for 16 minutes only to come back on the line and still be unable to answer a simple question. Matt promised to call me back with the info I requested. He took my number. He never called back. A name can say a lot about a business. "Travel by Jen" might communicate to some that this is a rinky-dink operation. Based on the horrible customer service I received, I'd have to say it certainly is. I'm really surprised Groupon would partner with this outfit. Needles to say, I won't be arranging a trip to Costa Rica through Groupon and Travel by Jen. (Could you imagine the horror of being far from home and needing to reach out to this travel agency for even a little help? No thanks!) If there is a "Jen" out there reading this who founded "Travel by Jen".. you really should hang your head in shame and then clean up this mess of a business. read more

Previously, I'd called in inquiring about an all-inclusive vacation to Cancun and was put on hold for 15 minutes with no explanation and given zero apology. Do you know how long 15 minutes feels like while waiting for someone on the phone? ETA -- 3:59 pm, awesome! Currently, there is a Groupon deal for an all-inclusive deal at the Hard Rock Hotel in Puerto Vallarta, that I am interested in. Before by the Groupons for 2 people I have been trying to get a hold of someone from this company to tell me if the date I would like to use the Groupon are available since it has to be during my vacation time from work. I left a message on 02/18/14 which was not returned and as I write this review I have been on hold for 17 minutes and 31 seconds. These 17 minutes have allowed me to read all the reviews about this company and also the responses. All I can say is if you have been in business for over 15 years, I would have thought you would have learned a thing or two about customer service and wait times. PS: Just hung up at 19 minutes at 58 seconds. I will keep my $ 2498 and book directly through the Hard Rock. I have to say the only good thing before we go to the horrible. Punta Cana Natura Eco Park Resort The resort was landscaped beautifully with great nature surrounding. I did not expect 5 star facility but a bug free room is not much to ask, it is a given!! This vacation with my daughter was horrible. We got no sleep, no relaxation, and our anxiety was at the highest level. We could not wait to leave!! We email Travel by Jen to assist us to find another resort/hotel and they never replied or called! We never had such a horrible vacation experience as we had with Travel by Jen Agency! I expected Groupon to have hands on verification of this resort to be able to put it in their deals! This resort sold by Travel by Jen is a maybe 2 stars if the room was bugs and insects free. I am still waiting for my refund for our miserable trip...do not book with Travel by Jen, their resorts that they bundle in the all inclusive are horrible and no assistance when you need them. This agency is nothing short of HORRIBLE. My rep Robert basically disappeared once they had our money. No returned calls (left about 5 messages), no returned emails (over a dozen sent), nothing. We had problems from the spelling of our names to the delivery of the paperwork, but the most frustrating thing is paying over $2,000 for a vacation and expecting an agent to care and help with questions, only to have nobody to talk to with questions. Our trip was fine and the resort was really great, but the whole month before of trying to gather the needed information was like a second job. The icing on the cake is I sent Robert an email the day before we left with an urgent question, came back a week later and had no response anyway. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS AGENCY. There are too many other companies out there that do the same thing better. I've had more communication with sellers of $10 items on ebay than with Travel by Jen. If you're reading this before you purchase, let it be a warning. If you're like me and find these reviews after you've already booked, GOOD LUCK! Not going to be using this agency again. I found out that they accidentally charged 2 very expensive flight tickets to my account nearly a month after I had used them to book my trip. Had to go through a dispute with American Airlines. It's a shame because other then that my experience with Travel By Jen was fine, but it ended up being a major hassle having to get all new cards and update ALL my accounts. No phone call or anything from them to apologize, luckily Orbitz had called and told me about the mix up and exactly what had happened. :( Keep an eye on those card statements if you use em. read more
