The…read morepeople I interacted with in the Seattle office were not up to speed on what the actual requirements were for renewing my passport, and cut off the transaction before completion, and they suggested I go directly to the state department. Which I did, and it took all of 20 minutes to get my passport renewed. They were stating I needed to get additional proof of identity before they could process my renewal (I of course didn't need this; the state department was very helpful and the list of things they said to bring in the confirmation email, was exactly what they needed to renew my passport.) The only reason I'm giving them 2 stars, is that they refunded my money so all I did was waste an hour. But, poor customer service in my opinion. Just go directly to the state department (all these guys do is help you fill out the application and send along to the state department anyway). If they are going to sell this service, they should at least be able to accurately tell you what to bring when you come in.

That kind of lack of transparency can throw off your timing, so it's something to be aware of. On the bright side, the pickup process was well-organized with a separate line, which made that part of the visit quick and smooth. The cruise is 2 weeks away and we have heard nothing from our travel agent. I assumed giving that group number would ensure that all of our cabins were together...nope we are all scattered throughout the ship. Not that I need my hand held but it would have been nice to receive some type of welcome packet explaining how to check in for the cruise, how to get our rooms together. I'm usually a self-help person but trying to get good cabins for a larger party is something I wanted an expert to handle. Mandy got us 6 cabins right next to each other at the back of the ship (which is the best view spot on Alaska cruises) so each of us could easily mingle and enjoy the fantastic view together on a shared, private balcony. Mandy is very helpful but never pushy. And she knows her cruises, including what upgrades are worth it (at least for me). She also arranged some special shout outs and cake for mom's 90th birthday during the cruise (for free) which was a nice extra touch. You might find her hard to reach on occasions as she seems to travel extensively but her backup Dee, was fantastic when she isn't around. Last week, we booked another cruise through her agency but for only 2 cabins this time. Her backup, Dee, was again extremely responsive and helpful. Looking forward to that trip.

I am a control freak so not knowing anything about hotels, food, or areas we would be in made me nervous. The trip ended up being the best one I have ever had. I have 3 more cruises booked with her. One I am doing on my own. One is a group trip River Cruise in Europe. And one is a bucket list item for me a group trip to the Galapagos. I am hooked. She is knowledgeable, attentive, and above all communicative. I never felt as though I was on the 'back burner' or wasn't important enough to gain a speedy reply. Being someone who works with coordinating group travel not only for teachers but students as well it's not only my safety I'm concerned about but that of students. I had the pleasure of using Kay two years ago to help coordinate flights for a group of approx. 18 to go to the Galapagos as well as a group flying to Peru. Both went off splendidly and any time I had a question she was quick to answer. Last year the 'powers that be' provided a different travel agent that was simply, easily put, sub par, rude, awful, and waited until the last minute with various aspects of our travel. After going through that experience I was once again able to use Kay and her team. And for that I am absolutely grateful! Once again we had a group of 24 set off to the Galapagos, and ~18 to Argentina. She answered questions about visa's, passport requirements, and brought up a number of things I would not have known to ask. All our students, and faculty, arrived back to Seattle without a hitch and I owe that to Kay's expertise. I would not only trust her to put together my own personal travel, but I trust her enough to put students and faculty members in her very capable hands.

Second our itinerary frequently changed including flights and package sometimes resulting in price increases. Names were frequently misspelled taking numerous corrections. Kari notified my parents that transportation between a Disney resort and adult oriented result had not been included. The last minute notification resulted in a higher reservation fee. More money more commission. Be wary of this unstellar travel agencies. You'd be better off booking online!!! Shame on Stellar for duping our older generation!
