I was greeted by a wonderful man named Nazrul. We talked for a few minutes while he was checking me in. Great customer service. Rooms were easy to find and clean. Can't beat the price for the location. location. Unfortunately we were not able to stay and had to leave 2 hours after checking in. My daughter got stung by a stingray in both feet while in the water at the beach. So just be cautious for that at the water when you go. Other than our beach experience this place is great and budget friendly. Close to gas stations and food. Everything you need is in walking distance. read more

I think this was a pretty decent budget friendly travelodge. It does look good outside, and going inside it looked a big but it's because there's a mirror on the other side. Check in is at 3pm, I was told at 2 the room isn't ready so we got to check out the beach nearby until it was time to check in. They have two entrances to the upper floor where the rooms are located. There was construction going on nearby so we had to be careful walking to and from the beach. The room was spacious, we got the cheaper rate room which meant our view was towards the street. The sink is outside the bathroom, the beds make noise when you move around, the room gets really stuffy without the window open! I think my pros are that this place is so close to the beach, they have free coffee, they have a jack in the box next door, and parking is included. The cons are that it's a bit sketchy, some homeless people around but they didn't bother us when we crossed paths, you can see people walking by if you open the window and it doesn't have a protective screen so don't open it! Overall, I would come back if I want to stay near a beach and have Jack in the box breakfast next door! read more

Completely rude desk clerk Edgar!! Refused us to park in hotel parking garage. Lied and said website says 1 car per room. He also refused to call manager. Website does NOT say 1 car per room. Now we are here and no where to park. Edgar Would not help or call manager. Such Bs. You pay almost $500 for 2 nights and can't park !!!! Construction everywhere and absolutely no overnight parking. We stayed at this travel lodge back in August and really had a wonderful experience. Our room on the first floor was clean and honestly nice for a travel lodge. Yes, the bus stop is right in front of the hotel, but who cares. It's far enough away to not bother anyone. And hell, who can beat this price to be steps from the ocean?!? However, we came back in October for another stay. This time, we had a room on the second floor. The experience was not pleasant. The flooring is dingy and peeling. There appears to be mold growing in the bathroom, and housekeeping failed to remove someone's Invisalign from the bathroom counter. YUK! Lesson learned. read more

Clean, nice hotel room with balcony, great oceanview!! Prices fluctuate but still best location and price!

You absolutely cannot beat the price for the view you get. It's a little older but still very well maintained. I saw reviews that the management are less than desirable but we didn't have a problem. The day agent seemed a bit crabby but killing him with kindness seemed to work! The manager that everyone complains about was welcoming, and we had a great conversation. I think some people should check their attitude first as you get what you give. The first morning there, the housekeeper came bye, asked if we needed anything, I thought we were ok, but she insisted on us taking more towels so we didn't run out. That never happens! At other properties, we have to beg for towels. Kudos to everyone and thank you for the hospitality you gave. See you soon! read more

How can I make this a negative star? Edgar was rude, indifferent and completely unprofessional. I saw him disrespect a lady about parking that was clearly different from what was advertised. He refused to be kind, helpful or show any respect to her. I will never stay there again and I urge others to sleep on the beach before going to this hotel. HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT. Called two days ahead to cancel my trip due to an unexpected death in the family. Even stated I planned to book at a later date. I was SCREAMED AT for canceling my trip and told I "didn't sound that urgent or like there was an emergency". I asked to speak to someone else and was told there was no one, but that the trip would be canceled and that I was permanently banned. Our room had a balcony with an ocean/beach view. It was very clean, beds were comfortable. There's a mini fridge but no microwave in the room. There are microwaves available in what looked like it used to be a breakfast area. There was toasters and a nice room with tables and fresh brewed coffee station on the first floor. It's really too bad they don't include breakfast. Overall the place is a bit dated, but you can't beat it for beach access. I would definitely stay here again. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. My family booked three rooms here for a family reunion and it got started off terribly due to the manager Nazhul Khan's unforgivable rudeness upon check in. He was immediately defensive and called me a liar when I said I called ahead for an hour early check in. When I showed him my phone log he raised his voice and stated it was impossible and that I must have called somewhere else because he's the only one there and he knows he didn't speak to me (it was in fact him who I spoke to because the call was on speaker and my whole family agreed it was his voice). Because he initially refused to let us check in, we all went into the very unclean lobby bathroom to change into our party wear and as soon as we came out, then he checked us into our rooms. They were mysteriously now ready. The rooms were filthy and in desperate need of both repair and upgrades. None of the outlets worked so no charging phones, there was dried red substance running down the bathroom wall (blood?!), the linens and drapes smelled musty, the floors seemed unmopped. I took a shower and just tried not to touch anything. It was one of the worst motels I've stayed in-- actually I used to stay in hostels that were cleaner and friendlier. No thrills hotel but can't beat the ocean view and convenience of being steps away from the sand.

I went in fearing the worst by the reviews... But going to the beach you know what you're going to get, bums, they're everywhere these days. But regardless, we had an Ocean View Room 1st floor, not bad can still see everything, balcony big enough for 4 bikes and still have room to sit and enjoy the room. Only downside our room was carpet, not a deal breaker. I didn't see bugs. We had our own parking spot, thank gosh considering we went on the 4th of July. The front desk was no issue, I even left my Mac Book in the room, called and Edgar himself went to go get it and put it away til I arrived late that afternoon. It's not a resort, but if you're looking for easy access to the beach, this is the way to go! read more

Usually, this is one of my first hotel picks near the beach I've never had a problem until my recent stay for the night Sun to Mon. I did Booked with a third-party king room with a balcony which the slideshow showed. This is not my first time staying at this hotel, and I've never had a problem. Once I got there to check in I was not accommodated with a king room with balcony even though the room showed one in the picture. They said It was an additional charge of $50 to get me a Balcony. I ask since it showed a balcony in the room I booked would it be a problem if you can kindly upgrade me With a balcony room, that's one of the reason why I chose to stay the night other than the convenience of the beach. Since actually it is false advertisement the picture that was posted on this room I booked. He made a phone call and he said he can charge me $40 for a balcony room instead of $50 I said I just paid a good amount of money for the night i'm not going to come out with more money for Something that I thought I was going to get. So he said can he can upgrade me to two queens at no additional cost. Didn't take the offer. Walked into the room part of the curtain was hanging down, no screen on the Window you can open it all the way which is dangerous being on the second floor. No ice bag for the ice bucket I was given a oversized clear trash bag to put in inside. The rooms are not the same like they used to be in Cleanliness. Don't know if I'll stay here again. Not accommodating at all!! Drove almost 4hrs from Fresno,and arrived around midnight to be denied a stay with booking confirmation that my company made. The older man stated that the person with the card on file must be present. Had to call my manager at midnight who had to drive 35 mins to present the credit card on file. That is absolutely ridiculous. Under any other circumstances we would have drove out here for nothing. Customer service was not present to say the least. Very upsetting the older man at the front desk did not have any hospitality. read more

We have stayed at this property twice, once in 2019 and over this weekend. We have not been disappointed either time. This is definitely an older hotel but the rooms are clean and the staff is excellent. You won't get a better deal for an ocean front property. The front desk clerk Edgar was extremely friendly and professional. He was being berated by a horrible woman and he kept his cool the entire time. I was very impressed. We had an issue with our fridge and they were quick to replace it with a new one. The maintenance guy even put our food and drinks away for us and wrote us the nicest note. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE. Shame on me for not taking the time to read reviews before booking for my husbands Flat Track Race. He wanted to stay here because it's across the street from the beach and the event...but, my lord. DISGUSTING! The room smells of urine and vomit so badly that we slept with the door open all night. Luckily, we are on the 2nd floor and feel that the apparently homeless and drugged out people wondering around don't have it in them to scale the wall to look for food or money. My hubby is a bad ass, so I knew he could handle anyone crazy enough to try anyway... We heard doors slamming and people yelling all through the night and I sprayed perfume on my pillows to try and mask the smell. No, we didn't bother asking to switch rooms because we figure as run down and disgusting as this place is, they would all be about the same. We also got in late and didn't want the hassle. The water is luke warm, no matter how long you run the shower. The parking situation for our camper van was ridiculous. My husband had to walk 2 blocks to find somewhere to park. The lights on the wall between the surprisingly, decently comfortable beds weren't even plugged in and we had to search the room for an extension cord, pull out the bed and plug it in ourselves. The area under the bed and next to the wall hasn't been vacuumed in at least a year. The dude at the front desk advised that we needed to cut our trip short through the third party app we booked through. We called, the app rep called the hotel to confirm that we wanted to leave a night early and wanted a reduction of our $195 a night rate (ABSURD FOR THIS DUMP) and all we got was the night we're not staying off. They refused a discount. At least they claim we will get a refund of the night we're not staying. I'm not even wasting my time going to see what the free breakfast is....ick! Can't even imagine. This is the worst hotel experience I've ever had and we travel A TON! Don't do it. read more

This should be a ZERO star rating!!!! This was originally booked by third party app. When we arrived immediately we were disappointed in its appearance as it was completely run down with homeless hanging outside the facility We called customer service for their third party app and requested to be let out of the reservation due to safety concerns (one of which was underground parking with homeless inside ) and as two single women traveling alone this was concerning. Long story short management refused to let us out of reservation. So, the room.... very odd and cold feeling with no decor and nowhere to relax beside the hard beds. The bathroom was crazy odd in as much as the shower had no door and the shower itself had minimal water pressure and water temp was either scalding or freezing. Being there were no shower curtains after the shower water was everywhere but we only had minimal amounts of towels Also the lighting in the bathroom was very dim and there was no bathroom fan. The room was very large but also without ANY amenities or comfort feature. One of our shades were broken and we were exposed to the street views all night long. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and the bed sheets were thin and therefore it was hard to keep warm. As an added feature the alarm clock had been set (not by us ) for 1am which was sure a treat To wake up to. The manager was as rude as they come!! Not helpful, condescending and has no business working in hospitality. I would rather sleep in my car next time if this was my only choice of lodging. read more

This is a reviewer's dream! I couldn't wait to get home to leave this review. Yes there is an ocean view from some rooms. You also get to see a very busy bus stop and a lovely parking lot. Oh I don't want to forget the beautiful Jack-In-The-Box next door. Upon arrival you are able to park in the underground parking garage which has a water feature of dripping water from the ceiling. The exterior of the motel is under construction (maybe...we did not see any work being done). We were informed that the exterior was being re-done due to moisture (maybe mold?) in the wood. The exterior is literally falling apart. Next the check in desk. It is a counter with a plastic sheet held on with painter's blue tape. We called out "anyone here" and were greeted by a shabby but quite nice check in person. We took the elevator up to the second floor and walked down a long dark corridor to our room. The room was clean but.....the paint was cracking , the furniture was significantly old and chipped, the closet door would not close, and there was a very odd chair that looked like a seat that was removed from an RV. There also was only one small light in the bathroom. The tub could not be used as the drain would not close. The shower worked. The TV worked but the paper guide on what I think was a dresser did not match up with the channels. The bed was reasonably comfortable except that it was short sheeted with about 2 feet of an exposed mattress cover. There was an extremely thin blanket complete with a cigarette burn hole. We tried to run the heat but thought perhaps a train was right outside the room until we turned it off. All of this might have been OK IF: 1 ) we were in our 20's; 2) We were surfer's; 3) the room cost was below $100!. By the way, did I mention that the total room cost was over $250/night? Nice rooms close to the beach. The rooms were clean and comfortable but the decor was dated. Front desk was attentive to our needs.

Balcony double queen room. One bed smells like it was pissed in and covered with a bed cover. It doesn't smell until body heat warms up the funk. Balcony view of the beach would be great with the exemption of the homeless camped right outside. This isn't the city of LA, so they're called Homeless. Not "those experiencing homelessness". These guys camped out, drinking and smoking out are not experiencing anything other than zero F's to give. At least I am more concerned about catching something other than Covid for once. read more

Manager Nazrul Khan accosted me right outside of my room as I was trying to leave/checkout from hotel. He asked me if I had a pet (pets are not allowed). I answered "no, we have an ADA licensed service dog (Yorkshire Terrier). He then snapped, "did you declare this!?" I said; "yes, in fact I phoned Edgar (Front Desk) about our service animal we would be bringing the day before we check-in". Steadfast, Mr. Khan bellowed "why are you hiding your dog?" The dog was in her carrier clearly visible. Yet, he continued loudly repeating his question, "why are you hiding the dog, why!!?" I said, "look, I am in a hurry and you are harassing me!!". He laughed, looked at his housekeeping staff saying, "I have witnesses right here who can see I am not doing anything". I said, "you are in the hospitality business, where is your hospitality!?" He became upset and told me to leave. He then proceeded to cancel my upcoming reservations without notice the day before check-in. read more

He treated my son and I badly and made my son cry by the way he was speaking to me. He is sexist and his lack of human decency shows in the property itself. We wouldn't allow our bad experience at the Travelodge to ruin our 4th of July and enjoyed our stay at the Best Western in Huntington Beach/Sunset Beach riding the boardwalk and spending time with family. read more

I love coming down here for a weekend get away. The renovated rooms are super nice with beach front views. The staff isn't the friendliest or outgoing. And be sure to check what room you're getting before booking since alot of them are outdated with literally no lighting. Other than that this place is great read more

I really hate writing negative Yelp reviews, especially when this industry is hurting from COVID, but I have received no response from management or corporate regarding the atrocious customer service I received here. This was my 2nd time this month visiting this hotel and I come to the area weekly, so he originally planned on staying here again. It's nothing special, but it's right on the beach and has all the basics. I'd rather be at the beach anyway, so the quality of the room didn't bug me. However, the front desk agent working Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning was ridiculously unprofessional and pretty much anti-hospitality. When we arrived, he informed us the water would be turned off all morning (so we can't wash our hands during COVID, but you make us wear a mask?) and past checkout time. We were understandably not thrilled about this news, especially because my phone number was on the reservation and it would have been very simple to give me a call before driving all the way there so I could make other plans. We asked if we could just be moved to an ocean view room because, by the front desk agent's own admission, they had really low occupancy that night. He told us to cancel our reservation and go to the Best Western down the street instead of trying to do ANYTHING to keep us as customers or even be remotely polite. We ended up staying because it was too inconvenient to leave, but we had to set our alarms (while on vacation) and wake up at 7 am in order to shower and brush our teeth. At that point, we were just upset with the whole experience and went to the front desk to ask for the manager's business card. Unfortunately, it was the same front desk agent and he tried to avoid giving us the business card saying "just get the f*** out of the hotel!" I am honestly stunned that anyone would treat a customer this way. In hospitality you should care about your customer's experience, but this guy clearly didn't care whatsoever and the blatant rudeness and cursing was just unacceptable in my opinion. Great location - few steps away from the ocean so we didn't need to drive for hours to get to the beach, centrally locates between other great beaches (Seal, Mother or Huntington beaches), upgraded room, prompt service, honest crew - you literally don't need to to hide your stuff and best of all the ocean view - we fog to watch amazing sunsets and sunrises from the comfort of our bed or patio. Worth every penny - we will definitely be back. read more

Reasonably priced and 30 steps to the least crowded beach in southern Cali. Pros -Recently updated rooms with tile floors and executive furnishings. -Modern bathrooms, fridge AND microwave in room. -Least horrendous beddings on slightly firm matresses. -Add to all this a breakfast bar and dining area is included. Ocean Front has what it takes to be a contender in the room amenities and locale sections. There are some hiccups to all this. Cons -Sunset Beach has a bunch of cracked seashells all over the sand. Bring flip flops to the beach. -The gentleman staff member in the day was ubrupt and slightly stern, but the night staff was very courteous. -There was a whisper of PCH traffic on the roadside room. -As I mentioned the beds are slighlty firm. I understand there are some people who have a softer bed prefference, so you probably wouldn't find this to be in your favor if you don't like firm. The motel exterior looks in decline. Can't make the excuse of salty ocean air as to not keep up the paint. I saw some wooden particle boards used as a repair in the parking lot. Super tacky. Hopefully they will make the outside look as nice as inside the rooms. Breakfast was the standard stale-ish pre packaged pastry and mini cereal selection with apples & banana's milk and juice boxes. Don't expect any Jimmy Dean here. Not much to rave about but it should hold you until you get to a Denny's My thoughts? Although the Travelodge Ocean Front has it's dings and dents here & there, who doesn't? One thing that is undeniable is that it does feature everything that I wrote in the first paragragh of this review. The room was very clean, location is perfect, overlooking the ocean, price was great, downside is hotel in general is run down, can use major remodel, the homeless people camped out in tents outside of hotel really brings this hotel down. They were yelling at times, there were tents, a ton of bags, sleeping bags, bottles, trash. I saw about ten sleeping directly in front of my balcony. It really ruins the view and overall feel. WORST HOTEL EVER/ WORST HOSPITALITY EVER DO NOT GO HERE!!! HAS MOLD!!!!!!!! Let me preface this with the fact that I tried to call to let the hotel correct this situation and general manager - Nazrul Khan - was beyond rude and condescending. My friend and I got a room here because it was close to a work event we were going to. When we got to the hotel room, we found that there was mold in the bathroom and on the walls. My internet was also not working and when I called today to let Nazrul know what had all happened, he acted like it must have been something wrong on my end and hung up on me. We were trying to watch a football game on a regular cable channel and the guy at the front desk told me that I could watch channel 11, which was the only channel that worked. The TV remote didn't work to make matters worse. In addition our door to the room didn't shut all the way. When I went downstairs to ask if we could be moved to a different room, the receptionist got on the phone - with Nazrul I'm assuming - who told us we could upgrade to a different room and would have to pay, however they would not be willing to make things right and move us to a room that had working amenities. I get that this is a travel lodge and I wasn't expecting the Ritz Carlton, but the least I expected was to get what was advertised for $130/ night. The worst part is when I tried to get a remedy, Nazrul was nothing but rude. Being in the hospitality industry myself, I know this is not how your treat your customers. I have already contacted higher management and they will be handling the situation, but if you are looking for a cheap room in Huntington Beach I suggest going elsewhere... maybe a Motel 6. read more

Ok...this place looks aweful on outside. The sign on PCH says entrance but only till u walk up to door can you read that entrance only for guests with key cards. Sign says they lock entrance for security reasons. Reading that made me nervous. Also, there is no stopping at the front on PCH. You have to drive behind the Jack in a box and you will find underground parking. Walk through parking lot up one flight of stairs to registration desk. Guy was very efficient in checking us in quickly. As for the room...very simple but nice and spacious. Beds are more comfortable than my timeshare places!!! We were on the 2nd floor 214 and the view...wow. For the cost, comfort and location....well worth it. Dont let the outside of building deter you . Its the inside that counts :) Staff is also very nice. Planning to come back! read more

I'm a vintage kind a gal, so I'm kinda digging this rustic palace.. but I can see why there are complaints . . Beds are kinda firm and the bathrooms are tiny There is an ancient and I mean ancient hair dryer And what looks like a old mirrored cabinet that's locked made me think there was a creeper camera back there.. So why would I stay here again you ask? It's literally a few steps from the beach.. The small balcony was great for a beer and people watching wave watching ..fed a few seagulls And there was free breakfast! The bars around during here are lame.. It's a sleepy town..
