Customer Service was excellent from check in to check out! We had the best time. It was quiet, safe and comfortable. Everything was clean and perfect! Parking is easy to access whether you want covered or uncovered parking. Air conditioning worked but didn't need it as the weather was beautiful! Beach is 10 minutes walking distance and lots of local places to eat. Highly recommend this hotel and I highly recommend Taco Surf, Woodys diner and Neat Coffee! All vending machines are old and broken. Ugly stained concrete stairs to get to your room. Regular shower head poked through the sheet rock above the shower. I guess that's their version of a rain head. Bath mirror was really rough. On the good side the bed was fine and the room AC was good. Bottom line this place is rough. I paid 200 a night so it is cheap for Long Beach area. If you like to walk a lot it can be a good location. The bathroom floor flooded from the shower head that was a challenge to reach despite efforts to close the curtain. If you're not very tall, be ready to sacrifice a towel. read more

For that price my expectations are simple: clean, comfortable, and location is right where I expected. That in my books is 3 stars for this price. stayed here for 2 1/2 weeks while on a job. Front desk was very helpful during my initial search for a place to stay and responded to my emails very quickly. The paint isn't perfect and there's rust here and there, but for what it is, I was very happy. FAIR WARNING: NO ELEVATOR!! The first floor is the garage. Rooms only on the 2nd & 3rd (top) floor. My room was on the 3rd floor and I had to drag a 50 lb suitcase up 2 switchback sets of stairs. That info is disclosed in the description but I missed it so I guess that's my bad. I paid about $592 + taxes & fees for 3 nights over 4th of July weekend ('24) so for the location, close to the event I attended, and time of year I didn't think the cost was too bad. The rooms seem clean and have everything you need for amenities. They've been redecorated and have crown molding and white shutters but somehow still aren't as nice as the photos look. There are small holes in the wall from where things were previously attached but not patched & painted. The hallways show the decades of oceanside wear and tear. For $100 and for one night it's solid. The room was clean, modern and stylish. It's literally across the street from the beach and 2nd and PCH which is a gem. You can't see the beach from the hotel, but the view of the marsh was nice. The hallways were bright and clean which was really surprising. Parking is small, but there was plenty and it was free. Check-in was easy, no issues there. Cons: There were little knicks that I noticed, but for $100, I can let it slide. However, the walls are paper thin. I can hear my neighbors talk very loudly. I am just not used to hearing people in a hotel. My biggest gripe was that there were not elevators, nor did the check-in attendant communicated this with me. I ma recovering from a wrist injury and it was not fun having to drag my luggage to the third floor (the stairs are narrow). So I give this place a 3. Was it nice enough? Yes. We needed a room for 1 night as we were at the Queen Mary Halloween Festival. 2 Queen beds, everything looked like a recent remodel with quality supplies. Faucets seemed commercial and the doors were heavy and not cheap. Water pressure was very good and it did have AC, but super vintage but it worked. The beach color scheme was bright and airy. I think the only gripe would be no elevator or a pool, but we were ok with that since we weren't there for very long. All in all, we would stay there again. read more

If I could give this little cute place more stars, I would! My daughter and I come down from Nevada every 6 weeks for her infusions and other medical needs. It's very clean and well kept. Obviously that's very important with my daughter's condition. But what makes this place even more pleasant is Ashanti Shah. She's always so helpful and nice. My daughter trust her and that says a lot. The cleaning lady is amazing and very friendly. I had a reservation on 09/02/23, upon arrival I was notified by the manager that my room was not ready at 4pm because the maintenance guy was still working in it. I was trying to be accommodating and said I was headed to the beach and just wanted it ready when I got back. Long story short I wasn't able to shower off the sand until 10pm. My romantic get away was ruined. The manager was absolutely no help. I had a couple of adult beverages and the manager suggested I drink drive somewhere else and leave the property if I wanted a refund. HORRIBLE customer service. read more

This place had the WORST customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Major parking issues as well! Smallest car park I've ever seen and no surrounding places to park. The rooms were fine for just a night's sleep, but if you don't want to interact with the most unprofessional and rude hotel manager, then do not come!! We came in two cars for a two bedroom hotel room. We were only allowed one parking pass (although nothing on the website disclosed this information). We used the customer service phone at the front desk to call and ask about an additional pass and I was yelled at by an Indian woman with a thick accent on the phone to park on the street. There is no shoulder on the road to park on. The neighboring business all have towing signs for non customers. At this point it was very late and we needed a safe place to park for the night. I called back and calmly explained the situation further and was interrupted by these exact words: "THATS YOUR PROBLEM NOT MINE, DON'T CALL THIS NUMBER AGAIN!" The she hung up on me. I had my dad call since she wouldn't hear me out anymore and she yelled at him too and threatened to call the cops on him and hung up on him and refused to answer his calls following that. My parents ended up having to drive down from an hour away and pick up the extra car in the middle of the night so we wouldn't get towed. An absolutely atrocious experience. read more

The family all stayed here a couple weekends ago. Will stay again normally we go to another place all the time at least one weekend a month. But they took our business surf city made sure we were not messed with told us there was no place for people that can't follow rules and act right I tell you. I would pay more to be reassured safety and peace at the place we stay nice room service and staff. This hotel is better than I expected. The room was cleaned DAILY even during the current pandemic conditions which is amazing ! New towels, took out the trash, and made the beds. Sadly previous guests have destroyed the room. Someone drew on the painting. There are random sides of the furniture missing. And there's a painting missing in the bathroom. A few holes in the wall. The beds were nice to sleep on. Pillows were nice. Staff was quite and respectful. There were stairs so if you are elder and can't climb stairs I don't recommend this hotel. First time being here. Conveniently located how ever being on the main road was horrible! You could hear cars all morning/ night! I heard people yelling and fighting off the main road at 5am! Screaming at the top of their lungs! The hall way was horrible you could hear everything like people walking by were in our room! People arriving really late and leaving early it was pretty terrible. There is no elevator so you have to use narrow steep stairs to get to your room! Bathroom had mold in corners on the ceiling and the shower head sucks!! Tried to do the upscale rainfall shower head however it's not clean so a majority of the shower head was clogged and barley dripping! Not to mention the water temp going from extreme heat to extreme cold no happy medium! The towels were HORRIBLE felt so old and dingy! I have better towels for my fur babies then the ones here! The bed was not comfortable at all. The tv kept dropping signal and wouldn't even let us use the "smart tv" options. Did have a working fridge so that was nice! read more

When searching for a weekend getaway to the beach, I stumbled across "Surf City Inn," and was sold. I chose this location primarily because of price. When I arrived to check in, there was a line of people (2 parties) already trying to check in. Since there's only the one person working (which is expected), the line moved very slowly. So we just waited in the car until the line ended. Once at the counter, I interacted with an older gentleman. I had previously read some Yelpers mention a "rude" older gentleman that worked at the desk, and I do believe I met the same one. I can definitely see why others said that about him, but I kind of just took him to be a "matter of fact" kind of guy. He's certainly rough around the edges, but I wouldn't say rude. Our rooms were very nice, clean, and exactly what I expected. The only down side is that at some point in the night, the cable went down and didn't get turned back on until noonish the next day. Guess they wanted to motivate me to go sightseeing. Haha Overall, for the price, it's worth giving them a try. They're a smaller hotel, so keep that in mind. But it's close to the beach, and has nice rooms. Can't go wrong there! read more

Everything started off okay but quickly turned to a waste of my money. The staff live in the attic where there kids run around peaking into my room and pointing lasers into my room. I would constantly walk into a light show happening in my room. It gave me the sense of having zero privacy. The maid even made a joke to me about if I needed more toilet paper because of the frequency of my restroom use, that she was obviously well aware of. The second night there I heard 2 guests fighting in their room and this woman was getting beat by her man who kept telling her to shut up then thump! So I called the police non emergency line and was told that I could not get my deposit back because I did this. I'm sorry I was concerned about a lady in your hotel that was getting her ass beat. Lastly, I noticed when I got back from a meeting I had for work that my room had been entered. There was dirt all over my floors, my refrigerator was marked up and some on my sodas were missing as well as other things of mine that had been messed with. I have a lock box that was pried open and left open on top of the table. A Bible had been taken from one of my drawers. Other belongings of mine were missing as well. I'll never go back to this place. It defeated the whole purpose of why I went there to begin with. read more

This place was decent. Great location and the room had a clean and fresh scent when we got there. Not sure what they use/if they clean the floors though because after just a couple hours in the room walking barefoot (probably a mistake in any hotel), my fiancé and I's feet were completely black. It looked like we had just walked barefoot on hot asphalt or in a Huntington Beach bathroom. Absolutely disgusting. The office staff isn't the friendliest either, as other reviews have said. Felt like I was an inconvenience to them just checking in. The girl at the window acted like I interrupted her Instagram or Tik Tok scrolling and seemed annoyed that she had to do her job. So, in short, the only thing really that great about this place was the relative location to HB pier, Bolsa Chica, and Seal Beach and the price for the area. Also, don't be fooled into thinking you can just walk to the beach from the hotel based on the map view. There is a huge row of townhomes blocking walking access to the beach and any kind of beach view. In addition, the rainfall shower heads are cool in theory but that's about it. Takes a while to rinse out your hair and no way to change the flow of water. I'd have to be hard pressed for lack of other options to stay here again. read more

I arrived to surf city inn at 8:30pm on the 30th for my ONE night stay. I drove 2 hours just for this HOT TUB room near the beach. Because I arrived later than expected (8:30pm) I decided I would take my HOT TUB BATH early in the morning. At 6am I filled my tub with epsom salt and bubbles, turned on the water and NO HOT WATER. I felt bad because it was early, but I called the office, to notify them. A lady answered but unfortunately she barely could understand me as she barely spoke English. I spent 30 minutes trying to get her to just understand what I was saying, let alone get a solution from them. Finally she claimed to understand my complaint and then she had attitude with me and asked me "why I did not check the water last night"...ummm I've never had to check my hotel rooms for hot water, I'm sorry. Then she said "ok I will tell maintenance and it will be fixed by 10am" I then explain but my check out is 11am?! And she just replied "ok" not understanding what I was implying, it "being fixed" by 10am does me no good. But I thought ok an hour to soak I'll take it! It was not fixed by 10 and by my check out time 11am I went to the office to get some customer service. Again it took 30 minutes to get them to understand me and then after all that the lady was very rude "telling me I was a liar" so I spent the next 10 minutes making them go check the tub with me. Her and a maintenance lady FINALLY came and checked WITH ME and said yeah it's not working the maintenance lady said "I have told Rafa about this" so they knew and still offered the room. That's what's even worse!! I asked for a manager and I quote I was told "there is no manager to talk to". I was told the manager comes about once a month if that, and they couldn't call the phantom manager until 1pm. And they didn't have the power to do a refund. So they asked me to wait or come back at 1pm to "see what could be done". The customer service was non existent at the hotel. So let me get this straight there was no manager who had the power to refund me for my stay or book a complimentary future stay for me, and you guys don't have the power to do anything. Then you asked me to stay two hours after my check out time to "possibly talk to a manager". Maybe I am just crazy to think this is crazy. Mind you I had to talk to the lady in the office on a phone Ike she stood behind a wall. It is a strange business going on at the hotel. It should be illegal to not be able to speak to someone above the front desk ppl. I have been going to the hotel for the past 3 years, the older gentleman with white hair always helped me and was amazing. Since the new Indian management has taken over this is my experience. So sad. Will never be back. I STILL never got a call back from a manager or hotel. Try calling the hotel they will NEVER pick up rings FOREVER no message option either. Not that you would get a call back anyway. $183 dollars I saved for this one relaxing night to celebrate a divorce finalization down the drain. Thanks for nothing surf city. Had a 2 night stay here earlier this week. The room was pretty clean, beds were comfortable and TV had good channels. First night was great, no complaints. I was prepared to give this place a 5 star review until the second night came along. I attempted to go to sleep around 10 or 11. The couple who were next door to us all of a sudden started to have very loud sex. "Okay....I'm at a hotel and these things happen. They will be done in 20 mins." I thought. WRONG. This went on for 4 hours. I called the front desk at 1 AM and requested they ask them to quiet down. They did call over and it did not help, they only got louder. Called again and they told us that we needed to just call the cops.....ummmm that's not necessary. And even if it was why don't YOU call the cops? It's YOUR property. YOU have to be the ones to let them in anyway! The biggest complaint I have from that is the beds shared the same wall. WHY? The other wall on their room was literally the vending machine (which doesn't work by the way). If their bed was on that wall, you guys would have had a 5 star review, a happy customer, and a happy freaky couple that had no interruptions. BUT NO! You fucked it up with your bad optics. So conclusion....Switch the beds around! My 3 hour night sleep when I had a 500 mile drive home is on YOU! read more

Worst hotel I've ever paid for. I got in at 3:30am, literally had to hike up some narrow stairs to a not very insulated room. You can hear the outside noise in the room. Got woke up early to maids that love to talk really loud I thought they were in my room. Chatter, chatter, chatter!!!! Called the manager and he got them quiet for a little bit then a bunch of door slamming and then I could still hear them mumbling in a different room. I drove by and decided to book a room for the night. Im so glad I did! I was traveling alone with my three month old and was worried about finding a nice room in a safe area for us. The staff here made us feel like family! They were so welcoming and considerate. They made sure I had plenty of water and snacks for myself and the baby. They checked in many times to make sure we didn't need any extra amenities. The room and bathroom were so spacious and clean! We were able to rest after a long day of traveling since the area was very quiet. It was only a 5 minute drive to seal beach which made it very easy to drive back and forth throughout the day. Needed a one night stay in Huntington Beach after a Carnival cruise. Booked this a couple months ahead of time and we're apprehensive. The property is sort of funky and could use some updates but otherwise clean and safe. The room was nice and very adequate for our needs. Gentleman at the office was very nice. This hotel was really nice for the price. We had the king room with marina view and jacuzzi tub. There was a lack of decor and lamps in the room but other than that it was really nice and clean. My wife forgot our key in the room and we got back at 1:45. The Indian guy b hind the glass was not happy he had to get up and get us another key but oh well it is what it is I wouldn't be happy either at 1:45 in the morning. He apologized the next day and I thoroughly enjoyed staying here. Keep in mind they have 20 rooms and 20 parking spots. If someone has two cars someone is getting screwed! We stayed the night last night, and stayed out until 11:30pm. When we returned to the room to shower, we could never get any hot water. We decised it was late, the hot water must be all used up, and we would just make things easy and shower in the morning. In the morning we still couldn't get any hot water. We went to go tell the live in resident, who was pleasant the night before, and he became very rude. After a few trys he got the hot water to turn on, and told me I should have called him last night (at 1130pm) and walked away before I could even say anything. The hotel was okay, comparable to motel 6, rooms were clean, but if there are any issues or complications that occur, the staff is not willing to even work with, let alone apologize for the inconvenience. Very cute inn on pacific coast hwy. The man checking us in was nice and he even helped carry bags up to our room. The room itself is very spacious. It's decorated nicely and it was clean. I did notice the stains on the carpet .. but they were not as bad as mentioned in previous reviews and all you have to do is wear sandals when walking around, if it's that bad. Anyway, the stay was comfortable and cozy. I loved that they have a microwave and a decent size fridge! Would stay here again! read more
