I did my booking for the Ocean view Motel onbooking.com. When I arrived and the reservationist lady told me that there would be a $100 cleaning security deposit, I did ask the following questions. Would they deposit my Cleaning security deposit? Her answer was no it would be a pending charge, and it would only be deposited if there were any damages to the room or if anything was missing and that they would do a walk-through with me when I checked out and give me an itemize list of anything that was wrong. I checked out the following day at 8 o'clock in the morning and there was nobody at the front desk at all to my surprise six days after I had checked out, they deposited my cleaning security deposit through my bank. They are a bunch of thieves! First of all California state law requires that if you do retain a cleaning security deposit of any amount you must at check out do a complete walk-through and give the individual and itemize list of anything that is missing or anything that is damaged. They 100% breached the contract when they did not follow this procedure. And then six days after I check out, they then deposit the cleaning security deposit of $100? Of course I tried to reach him and nobody answers the phone. booking.com has been somewhat helpful, but they to have their fault. if you read the reviews of this motel on Yelp you will see I am not the only one who had a problem with their clean security deposit. What's really sad is for the price of $116. It is a very nice room, it was very clean, and I would've stayed here again! But now, with them, cashing my cleaning security deposit, I will never never stay here. My advice to anybody who is considering this motel is to STAY AWAY!!!! I have been close some pictures of the room when I left so you can see I left it in wonderful condition

Super clean and convenient walk to beach and brewery

I love this hotel, super clean, friendly and no odor! Super convenient walk to brewery, beach and restaurants! I always stay here, call front desk for best rate 562-592-2700. It's quiet too!

Blood stains on the bed when we said something she got aggressive.

This place is vile the worst experience of my life this whole place is a scam and the Indian lady was the worst person I've ever met very unprofessional and rude we were never told no guest we only had 2 people over for 1 hour and she called the room cussing and charged us 120 dollars for that on top of that. To check in an hour earlier was 57 dollars when on the phone we were told only 20 but that changed when we got there, not only that but she kept our 100 dollar deposit we tried to talk to her nicely about wanting our deposit even though she made it hard and she started screaming at us. We walked into the room and it reeked in there!! And there was blood stains on the bed when we told her she got really upset and accused us of lying. I hope this lady goes out of business because this is the worst place ever! Never come here don't spend your money here! Also when leaving to go eat she gave us devious stares and stood right behind our car. She will be hearing from my lawyer soon, it's honestly so crazy how this place is still up and running I'd rather sleep in an empty parking lot in my car! Anyone who says other wise is lying.

You should definitely check the reviews before booking a room. My mistake was that I didn't. The owner/ lady up front is rude. We paid $130 for one night plus $100 deposit AND $57 to check in two hours early. As soon as we walked in we noticed stains on the sheets, blankets, and pillows. The floor was disgusting and scratched. It wasn't swept or mopped. The bathroom and shower were super gross. Luckily we brought our own sheets/pillows/blankets, we stripped the bed as soon as we got in there. The hotel was right by the freeway and the traffic was really loud, not an ocean view. We saw that lots of people were complaining that they didn't get their deposit back so we made sure to clean the motel ourselves and remake the bed so they didn't have a single reason not to give us our deposit back. The motel was just super sketchy and gross. If you write a bad review the owner will try to tell you that you should've come to the front desk and she would've given you a full refund. It's hard for people to come to the office and complain when you list that the motel is nonrefundable and every time we went down to the office it was closed! Please don't waste your money on this place and choose a cleaner and safer motel.

Broken chair with screw sticking out

Definitely make sure you check review before booking. My friends and I decided to stay here last minute kinda trip. Called to book the room that's when we spoke to the rude front desk lady/owner of hotel. We got to the motel paid for our room and additionally left a 200 dollar deposit (real pricey for a stank motel). Also the lady spoke to us like kids saying; No visitors or guests only 2 people may be in the room at anytime, No loud noises or music even though it was still early at the time we got there. Or else she would keep the deposit. Once stepping into the room it smelled bad and was very dirty, like it needs a deep clean. It was outdated and the furniture is falling apart. Also there was no OceanView the motel faces the opposite direction to water. So at that point decided to not stay anymore, we were refused a refund or deposit back. We contacted booking.com they contacted the motel to no good use because the owner refused any refunds. So we went down to speak to the owner/front desk again. We explained to her why we no longer wanted to stay, she didn't care said no refunds. We told her if we could just get the deposit as we didn't stay there at all just walked in and out of the room. We started recording her since she was arguing with us and yelling. We brought up the broken chair, she offered to put a different one (not thinking how someone could hurt themselves on it). We went back and forth till she agreed we delete the video of her and we get our deposit back. She went through our phones and deleted them. Got our 200 deposit back and left. Worst motel experience ever.

My family and I decided to stay there for Spring Break, and it was our first time visiting the hotel. From the moment we arrived, the valet staff warmly greeted us and opened our doors with such kindness and professionalism. Upon entering the hotel, everyone at the front desk was incredibly welcoming and friendly. Gershorn, the bellman, was especially engaging and extremely helpful with storing our items and assisting us at the front desk. The front desk manager, Itzya, who checked us in, was also very engaging with us and our children. She provided outstanding customer service and made sure we had all the amenities and information we needed since it was our first time staying at the resort. Our room was fantastic, with a beautiful view of the Huntington Beach Pier. We had the opportunity to watch the sunset overlooking the ocean, which was truly remarkable and such a special memory to share with our family. The kids had an absolute blast at the Driftwood Pool. The pool service was amazing as well. The staff frequently checked on us, and our food was brought out in a timely manner. The security team also provided excellent customer service and did a wonderful job ensuring the pool area remained secure. Sean Williams (Security Director) & Jose (Security Manager) did an outstanding job with the security team they created. We also had the pleasure of meeting the general manager, Paulette Fischer, who personally greeted us and made sure our stay was going well. There are not many hotels I have visited where the General Manager personally interacts with guests. Thank you, Paulette, for taking the time to connect with your guests and make them feel welcome. Thank you again to the entire team for making our family vacation such a memorable experience. We truly look forward to returning in the future

Because we booked through a third-party site, we were completely denied any flexibility or accommodation. To make matters worse, I was repeatedly criticized for not booking directly through Hilton instead of receiving any empathy or assistance. As a parent of a 3- and 5-year-old, I am not willing to risk exposing my children to any potential chemical issue, regardless of how many times staff insisted it was "perfectly safe." We are now out $1,400 simply because we chose to prioritize our children's health and safety. I even offered multiple times to pay an additional fee just to reschedule the stay, but was told "policy is policy." For some families, losing $1,400 and a family vacation may not matter. For ours, it absolutely does. The lack of compassion, flexibility, and customer care was shocking. I would give this hotel zero stars if possible. I have since deleted my Hilton Honors account and will strongly discourage friends, family, and community members from staying at Hilton properties in the future. Extremely disappointing experience from start to finish.

Can't beat the location of the hotel. It's steps away from the beach, boardwalk, bars, restaurants, and other local shops. Everything about the hotel and my room catered to my likes. I had a large double queen with partial views of the ocean. I thought it was cool that they offered a cooler, which would be useful to take out to the beach. The open walk-in shower was made for washing off sand, and I loved that my bathroom also had a tub as well as amenities ready to go for a relaxing salt bath. I used the in-room record player whenever I got the chance. Each room had its own unique record too. My room had Lynard Skynard, but I saw that there was an extensive record library in the lobby for swapping out the music. That said, I opted to use the bluetooth function of the record player to set the mood for my space. As cliche as this sounds, I was in room 311 and played 311 while watching the sunset from my balcony. Lastly, as a yoga instructor I was pleasantly surprised to find a yoga mat in my closet. I also noticed that they offered yoga at 9am on Sundays and provided in-room yoga on the TV. I'd certainly come back to Kimpton Shorebreak next time I stay at Huntington Beach!

First of all, the people who work here are so nice! Peter was always smiling and giving the dogs treats (with permission every time). I swear they started looking for him- and they're pretty anxious around people. There are no dogs allowed in the pool area which I get but it makes it a little tough to juggle the kids wanting to swim for hours and not leaving the dogs unattended in the room. The beds were comfy and they have a built in sound machine system and it was the first time I have ever see that! I loved it! I struggle to sleep in hotels but wasn't bothered by any noise. The hotel is right across from the beach and next to an outdoor shopping mall. We walked to and from multiple times on our trip and it was nice to be close by! They also have beach chairs, towels and sand toys to borrow! They have adult bikes but nothing for the kids so we didn't utilize those. The restaurant is good with dog friendly seating and gluten free options. We had dinner there only. CONS the dog park is so cute and convenient but it wasn't sprayed off at all while we were there and since it was plastic grass, there was poo smeared all over the place. It was hard to find a spot to stand and you hope your dog doesn't walk through it. It also smells like warm pee. We were still grateful for it but I think a small patch of real grass would have been less gross! The fee for dogs is $150 a night and that adds up quickly! The bathrooms are not practical for families. They don't lock, the toilet room has fogged clear glass with big gaps so no one could be in the bathroom getting ready or showering if anyone else was in the toilet room. Also, there was a slider on the outside of the shower that allows the entire room to see you in the shower which was odd. I understand the desire for this if it was a couples trip but why not have the sliding door on the inside so the naked person can make the decision rather than anyone on the outside deciding to open it mid-shower? Parking is a whopping $60 a night plus there is only valet which means you either tip every single time you pull your car in or out or you feel like a jerk. The valet guys were great and we wanted to tip everyone but ran out of small cash bills quickly. We stayed two nights and had to pull our car out 4 times which is 8 tips. When you're paying $120 to park that's crazy! The jacuzzi is just warm not hot and the jets when on are cold! That was bummer. Overall I don't think we will return because there are so many awesome hotels in the area to try but we did enjoy our stay and found it worth the money! The Shorebreak Hotel doesn't charge for dogs so we will be going there next time!

Easy access to a major freeway helps you travel to other notable spots in the area. I had booked directly through Marriott, so was able to digitally check-in via their app, which made check-in on the day of arrival easy. Richard pleasantly greeted me, was prompt and professional - handed me my room keys, brief overview of the hotel, and pointed towards where the elevators are. He also handed me a little goody bag for being a Rewards member (albeit at a pathetically low tier, lol). My room requests for view/away from elevator was acknowledged. The room is larger than your average hotel room - sorta more like a studio setup. There's living space with a sofa that converts to a trundle bed, workstation with chair, kitchenette with coffee maker, mini fridge, and microwave, and then of course the bed and bathroom. It's nice to have a mini fridge/microwave since that's an amenity that a lot of hotels are doing away with. The fridge didn't have any controls to make it colder - but I imagine it's linked to the room's power system, which btw requires you to insert your room key into a slot near the door to enable power to your room. AC worked well - it's a loud wall unit, but you're in HB - the weather is relatively mild/comfortable most of the year, at least it was during my stay - so I didn't really need to use the AC for long. I just turned it on to see how loud it was/how easy it would be to manage to climate settings. Bed was comfy. More than enough pillows with four decent sized ones for my King bed. The lights on both sides of the bed are individually controllable - great if you're traveling with someone who doesn't share the same sleep schedule as you. Bathroom has a sliding door - no lock - something to keep in mind if traveling with someone. There isn't a solid partition either - the door has a frosted glass enclosure. Water pressure and temperature throughout my stay was great - no issues. There aren't individual toiletries anymore, just the bulk dispensers which I'm not a fan of - luckily, I just travel with my own toiletries. Complimentary breakfast was okay - nothing notable. I had the last crustless quiche - and that wasn't refilled for the rest of the morning. Waffle machine, cereal, powdered eggs, pork sausage, and a giant vat of oatmeal (with all the fixins on the side). Property itself has a lot of nice community areas. Decently equipped fitness center. No pool. A open air terrace on the 2nd floor with a giant chess board, pool table, a few lounges throughout the first floor with comfy seating. Security is great. All rooms are interior accessible, meaning their doors don't face outside. You have to walk past the front desk to get to the elevators. All side entrances are accessible only by swiping your room key, and the front doors lock after a certain time. Great if you're concerned about safety/traveling alone. *** I'm knocking off a star from my otherwise great stay because of the obnoxious parking fee of $15/night. I can't see why they would charge $15 for parking considering the area. Bella Terra is across the street, but I've never seen their lot completely full (which would cause people to overflow into other lots) - even on Black Friday. You're not remotely close to any of the major theme parks like Disney or Knotts. There was plenty of empty parking spaces in the lot when midnight rolled around. It just seems like a greedy cash grab "because they can". Usually, these extended stay brands offer complimentary parking, since some of their guests tend to stay for longer visits. $15 for parking just makes for a bad note on an otherwise pleasant stay. ***

My husband and I stayed here for one night on the for our first anniversary, and I can genuinely…read moresay we experienced the best customer service of our lives -- all thanks to Leslie. (Don't want to add too much detail for sake of greedy people) From the moment we arrived, Leslie went above and beyond in every possible way. Her warmth, attention to detail, and genuine care made us feel not just welcomed, but truly valued. Every interaction with her felt intentional and kind, the kind of service you don't forget. She anticipated needs we didn't even realize we had! She offered some amazing restaurants and knew all the little quirks. Leslie is the kind of person who doesn't just do her job well, she elevates the entire experience. Because of her, this stay will forever stand out as something really special to us. If you're lucky enough to be helped by Leslie, you're in incredible hands. She is an absolute gem and a true reflection of what hospitality should feel like. We love you and we will be back! P.S. Don't skip out on the pancakes

Wow, What a nice place to stay if you are planning a weekend at the beach. First off, customer…read moreservice is great here. The general manager SHAUN was our host for the time we stayed and very accommodating. Our room was very clean, nicely decorated. I felt really comfortable here. I would definitely be comeback in the near future hands down . The Inn literally a 3 minute walk and you touch sand and then you see the ocean and horizon. From our room you can smell a hint of the ocean when you open the sliding door to your balcony room. The Ocean surf Inn is the neighborhood of sunset beach and is a low key area so it's quiet . There are a few restaurants and bars that are walking distance and also near a gas station with decent prices on gas. There is parking , but the spaces can get a little tight, if you have a bigger vehicle, might want to consider parking in the street but check with management first . Our room had a mini freezer/fridge and microwave! Which we love because we always have leftovers and drinks we need to store. The flatscreen was a decent size and had the basic TV channels and some movie channels (HBO) etc. water pressure in the shower was strong and the A/C worked perfectly fine. Our king sized bed was just how I liked it, a tiny bit firm where I don't sink in and so soft . Thy do have a roof top patio I didn't get to enjoy but I'll keep a note for nextime I come. I will definitely recommend this establishment to family and friends coming from out of town .
