Instead, I went to the famous hot bar to get some snacks for my flight--kebabs or plov wouldn't travel well, so I basically used it as a bakery. The pumpkin samsa was excellent. It was a bit worse for wear as the outside was no longer crispy, but the flakiness shows how good it must have been. The pumpkin filling was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. The next day, I had a spinach qutab, which I reheated on a cast-iron. It wasn't quite as good as made-fresh, but you could tell how good the crust would have been, and how fresh the spinach still was. Given that trays of food kept coming out as I was browsing, I think this is as good as a buffet gets--it's limited only by the fact that it's a grocery store buffet/hot bar.

I immediately noticed that the menu was full of nutritional drinks and I went with the Hibiscus Pineapple cold tea. It was so hydrating and delicious. While I was drinking my tea, I got to know the owner, who is Ecuadorian like me and hosts a running group on weekends which is family friendly. Great place in to get all your Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Herbs and dried goods…read more I usually come here to get my dried shiitake mushrooms and dried scallops, which I put in soups. Also the mushrooms can be minced and put into Asian meatballs to give them more flavor, sort of like dim sum dumplings. They have a nice variety of different mushrooms here. This place also carry a wide selection of ginseng, and a vast amount of other herbs, which I know nothing about but might be interesting to learn about one day. Brought a relative over here, who was looking for a specific asian brand of cold relief medication and a muscle pain lotion. My knowledge of this stuff is limited, so if interested, try at your own risk. My relative seems to like the stuff though, being a regular user of it.
