I appreciate that the rules for the space are clearly posted on the wall behind the register, so the expectation for everyone is established (I would imagine it makes it easier for staff to enforce as well, because they can just refer to the sign). The clerk was very friendly and gave me some info about a game I was interested in (a collaborative version of "The Fox in the Forest"; my fiance and I love the original version), which I ended up purchasing! Every time I've ever stopped in, I've been treated kindly & with respect by the staff working there - which is *not* a given when you're a solo guy with tattoos shopping alone, trust & believe that. A really helpful & nice gentleman named Jackson showed me the "buy 1, get one 1 free" deal they were running for some of their paints. He made the process of shopping for/choosing different colors or different formulas really easy, & honored the deal fairly! He was helpful & cool. Anyone who is into wargaming, table top miniatures etc KNOWS that any kind of buy 1, get 1 deal on high end paints like Citadel, Vallejo or Army Painter is an insanely good value. Also, there has always been some kind of community gaming event happening whenever I've stopped in; which tells me it's *clearly* an important hub for the TCG/TWG community. It's a large store, which is good for their in-store events (it looked like they have a MtG night, at least; not sure if they have a board game meetup as well). They had a display of Ticket to Ride in the wind wand though I know there are plenty of board gamers who turn their nose up at that one I am a fan. I've been wanting to add a copy of the France/Old West version to my collection because that one has my hometown on the Old West side of the board and I was happy to find multiple copies here so I snagged one. I was with a friend who hasn't really played board games all that much, but she picked up a copy of TTR Asia to try sometime too. The guy running the shop was pretty friendly, and had an extended conversation with another couple in the store and was helpful when I had questions about another game or two I was looking for. This soup is open later than some of the others in the area too, which makes me think that they must have at least a few events that take place throughout the week. There's no dedicated parking, it's all street parking along State.

I Have bought from a few times and the cards are always priced fairly. But this last I went in I…read morechecked out an Umbreon & Darkrai Tag team card I looked at the price and figured the card would be in mint condition. Upon further inspection the card condition was moderately played and priced as a mint copy of $225, a Moderately played copy is $83 as current market. I asked the employee who was super understanding about the issue and knew the card wasn't the cleanest nor the most mint looking card. He had told me if I wanted to see if the manager was cool with lowering the price, I put down my information and waited for the managers response. Where he wouldn't lower the price but by $25. I argued I'm not paying $200 for a card that is worth $83 in that condition. He didn't seem to care and stayed firm on his $200. Any one shopping at this location should make sure their prices are reasonable and fair for the card. Sucks that this ruined my experience with this shop and I'll be happy to spend my money elsewhere.

Enter Larry, store proprietor, who did not gatekeep me for not being a gamer and gave me some useful tips as well. They have online video tutorials to watch if you're just getting started in painting miniatures, and also do classes on miniature painting. I bought what I was looking for (Citadel Agrax Earthshade) and can't wait to test it out on some "used universe" minis to grunge things up. :) Thanks to Larry for the assistance and the addition to my crafting arsenal.

I've been to Dean's dugout occasionally for magic the gathering events, and have found myself frustrated multiple times with round times going over because judge/owner doesn't pay attention. I am prompted to leave this review tonight because of an experience I had taking my new friend to a magic the gathering pre-release. My friend was completely new to the game and I asked his opponents before each round if it was all right to intervene and help him remember triggers, explain what cards do, etc. everything was quite nice up until the second round, his opponents were kind and patient, helping him find a love for the game. The judge approached us after the second round to explain to me that I wasn't allowed to intervene with another game. I kindly explained to him that his opponents were completely fine with my intervention. After going back-and-forth for a few minutes, we were kicked out of the event. I went to go talk to the owner to get a second opinion on the matter. He proceeded to yell at us to get out of the store and make a scene in front of all of the players. I never remembered Friday night Magic being so uptight. I wish I could go back 5 to 10 years when new players were invited, not screamed at. WILL NOT BE COMING BACK AGAIN. Very strange and sad to see a store run like this.

I fancy myself more of a painter than a gamer and I was impressed with the options for paint, brushes, and tools they had available. I didn't buy anything on my first visit, but my son and friends felt welcomed and were treated kindly, even as teenagers (typically, this has been a challenge). I'm looking to paint an army of space marines soon, so I'll be in to grab some washes and metallics. This place is nerd nirvana.
