After a lunch at Peli Peli, this was the perfect spot for a dessert to go. Hubby and I couldn't decide on 2 so we got 4 -- Rocky Road, 24 karat (carrot haha), Italian cream, and Bacon Maple. YES freaking bacon on a cupcake, I'm in LOVE! I held the box on my lap, like it was a precious load, growling at husband every time he hit a bump or pothole (yeah, this is Houston baby). Once we arrived safely at home in far Cypress. I carefully took the cupcakes inside. I pulled each one out of the box delicately to photograph and taunt my kids via text message (yes, that is how I roll). I picked 2 for hubby and I to eat and put the box in the fridge, wondering if those other two babies would make it through the night. This might turn into some sort of black ops mission with me pitted against my spouse, but you don't want to hear my problems. Back to the cupcakes. While hubby went to the bedroom to change his clothes, I placed the 24 karat and maple bacon on a plate, slicing them in half, equally (cough cough). The maple bacon had an abundance of real bacon bits on top that were delicious all by them self Once I bit into that maple frosting, the combination was like pure heaven. Where has this cupcake been all my life. I wanted to complain about the amount of frosting because it doesn't have the huge pile like most of them, it looks like your mom frosted it and put the bacon on top. Well, I was wrong the amount of frosting was just right and the maple flavor was the bomb. The 24 karat (carrot cake with cream cheese frosting) was so good. The frosting had just the right mix of cream cheese with sweetness. The cake was just moist enough and not too dry. I think people who complain about their cupcakes being dry are confusing the denseness of these cakes to dryness. Both of these were moist but not that gooey moistness, but they definitely weren't dry. Dense is the best word I can use to describe it. I had better get back to checking on the Italian cream and Rocky Road cupcakes as my husband is being way too quiet. I may have to sweep his leg or use the sleeper hold on him if he gets too close. OK, I should start by saying that I don't normally eat cupcakes and that I think paying $3.50 for a cupcake is crazy. Having said this, the cupcakes here are really really good and I have no problems paying the price. I am guilty of having stopped at Treat! Twice on the same day, once in the AM and again after dinner. They are indeed sweet and have tons of icing, but isn't that the whole point? The place is called Treat! and if you are concerned about sugar or are counting calories, recommend you stay away. I usually buy 2 or 3 cupcakes to go. They'll last fresh a couple of days at home, at least, but they don't normally last more than 24 hours before someone in the house eats them. The staff is friendly and will give samples from time to time. There are daily specials, that are only available on specific days of the week. The store is open most days until 8pm, which is very convenient for people that work. I've tried pretty much all of the flavors they have to offer an have a few favorites: - 24 Karat: carrot cake cupcake with cream cheese icing. Best in my opinion - Italian Cream: has shredded coconut icing. Good if you like coconut - PB & J: tastes just like the sandwich and great for some like me who eats a lot of PB All in all, good quality product, indeed a way to treat yourself and satisfy a sweet tooth, and you get bang for your buck. read more

You have to approach these cupcakes with that in mind. These are not sissy cupcakes like you would find at crave or even sprinkles. These cupcakes have flavor, a lot of flavor. Let me start off by saying that I am a HUGE cupcake fanatic. Everywhere that I travel for pleasure or business, I am always searching for the local bakery or best cupcake location. My job brings me to Houston numerous times a year and I have tried all the big cupcake names in the town. I stumbled across Treat! after having dinner in Vintage Park and decided to get a cupcake to go. I ordered a strawberry cupcake and took it back to the hotel and had it for a snack later that evening. I was not impressed. The cake had a decent flavor of strawberry but wasnt very moist. The icing had an overdone cheesecake flavor and the outside was pretty hard then only a little softer in the middle. I was very disappointed and after two bites, threw it in the garbage. I gave this review three stars since the lady working the counter was extremely helpful and friendly, she gave me a plastic fork with my cupcake before I even had to ask and the display case was beautifully arranged. read more

The bakery itself is cute and clean, though the smell of brown sugar and cinnamon made my head spin after two minutes of being in the place. I don't know what these negative reviews are about but Treat is great! I always found Crave cupcakes to be dense with very sugary icing, so I didn't want to try another cupcake bakery. Treat's cupcakes are neither of these things! The cupcakes are light and fluffy, and the icing is just the right amount of sweet. I love the chocolate buttercream icing, it's not too sweet but it still has a lovely richness to it. Honestly, give me a spoon and I'll just eat that from a tub. Kidding, but not really... The puppy cupcakes are so precious as well! My two black labs love them and know what they are when they see my boyfriend bring home the little baggies they come in. We had a meeting at Peli Peli for lunch and after the meeting a friend of mine and I was looking for something sweet to eat. We decided to take a walk around Vintage Park to see if there was a dessert shop. And this little jewel we found Treat Gourmet Cupcakes. It's small but it's really cute and when you walk in it smells so good. We were greeted by the pretty young lady behind the counter who was so nice. The setup with all the cupcakes was nice. They all looked so good I couldn't make up my mind til I saw the S'more cupcake, which is my favorite. I love chocolate but not too much chocolate. I got the Smores, Red Velvet, Key Lime and the Oreo. I also got a cake pop and it was soooooo good, it was chocolate with sprinkles. They were all delish but the Smores is my favorite. Even after having read all the glowing reviews of this place, I remained wary. I've already professed my love for Sprinkles and was hesitant to let another competitor vie for the title of "best cupcake". But lo and behold, Treat! puts up a very good fight. One of the workers gave my friend and I a sample of the 24 Karat cupcake and my eyes nearly rolled out of my head it was so tasty. I decided to get one of those while my friend got the Tiramisu. PARTY IN MY MOUTH. To top it off, they gave us two freebies: Chocolate Rain and Italian Cream. All four of them were incredible and they each came with a very healthy dose of frosting. I actually had to scrape some of it off as the cupcakes are quite large. It was my first time at Treat! and it won't be my last. I have been to Vintage Park many times for dinner, shopping, & what not and never noticed this place. One day my sister mentioned that there was a cupcake place over there and I decided to try it out. Boy had I been missing out! Let's see so far I have tried -Chocolate Mousse (Flavor of the day) -24 Karat -Dark Devil's Delight I have to say out of all of the ones I have tried 24 Karat was my absolute favorite. The cream cheese icing was perfect and paired well with the moist carrot cake. They call it 24 Karat & the on top of the icing are these sprinkles that make it sparkle- adorable!!! I dream about their carrot cake. I know it's pathetic. Too bad I am in Dallas! However- while the carrot cake was definitely my favorite the rest of the cupcakes surely did not disappoint. They were all very moist and had a good icing to cake ratio which is very important when it comes to cupcakes! They are also animal friendly- they make these mini cupcakes called pup treats which are made of carrots and peanut butter i think? They make special holiday cookies as well but I haven't had a chance to try them. Oh- another note they have FABULOUS customer service! Their cupcakes are not the latest and the greatest and I really think they use a box mix personaly. Waaaaay to much Icing and a little to dry! I am a huge fan of cupcakes! The make me feel like a kid. Went here with two girl friends after dinner and was very impressed. The location is close to me, parking was easy, and they offered outside seating. The highlights are as follows: Key Lime!!! Real lime that could be seen and tasted. Snicker something, don't remember the name but it was made to mimic a snickers bar. This was devoured by the owner before the rest of our group could try it. :0 I had the Rocky Road and was very pleased with the look, texture, toppings, icing, cake, and filling. I couldn't eat it all in one sitting and was still just as good the next day. Also picked up a cake ball for later which was amazingly soft and full of great flavor. Sooooo...I have been to the following cupcake places around town, and hands down, Treat! is THE BEST. Better than: Crave, Celebrity, Dessert Gallery, Sugarbaby's, and yes, even Sprinkles! The cupcakes seem slightly larger than other cupcake places, and the icing is, in a word, amazing. And there is a ton of it! The best butter cream I have ever tasted; and my mom makes a pretty good buttercream. We got 2 or 3 each and cut them in half to "taste". (They were all gone within 20 minutes). But I tried my fav, a simple yellow cake with chocolate icing, the key lime and strawberry. All 3 were out of this world. I don't even like strawberry typically, but that place has me sold on them. If you live anywhere on the northside of town, check this place out, it's incredible. If you're not up here, I guarantee it is worth the drive! read more

We live just around the corner from Treat and have gone there many many times since they opened. I love the strawberry cupcake with real strawberries in the cake and icing, making it a little lighter than other flavors. Their choco-nutter cupcake has a peanut butter icing which, while incredibly rich, is just salty and creamy enough to be really enjoyable. The other two flavors I love are their tiramisu and white chocolate raspberry flavors. Both feature some kind of icing that is whipped making is SO much lighter and more appealing to me than the cream-cheese/buttercream varieties. I think the cake part of their cupcakes tends to be dry, and also slightly bland if you eat it all alone, but considering you are getting a ridiculously huge amount of icing when you take a bite, it's probably good the cake is on the bland side because the over all flavor is very tasty! read more

I've been about 15 times and the only 2 cupcakes I didn't like we're the confetti and cherry limeade. I love the lemoncello cupcake! Excellent service and reasonable prices. About half the time I come I get a dry cupcake. Not sure if it's because they are old or what, but it is always a gamble. Half the time love, half the time feel like a waste of calories.
