Very poor communication, when it happened at all. Told we were 12th on the list for install, then 14th, then 7th...and a week or two later...still 7th. Women we spoke to was extremely rude and claimed she was doing the best she can, but never apologizing for poor communication or customer service. Pool installer also rude and criticized us for electrical being done before the pool was installed...after we were told to get it installed first. Pool is finally in and it's great, but wish our experience was better. read more

Called to have our pool opened up for the summer. The day comes, and midday I hadn't heard anything from them. I called the office and they said somebody would be out, and they'd let us know before they arrived. Instead, the techs show up - WITHOUT TELLING ME - go into my back yard - WITHOUT TELLING ME - and then LEAVE because my pool filter wasn't out. At NO POINT did they contact us. When we get them back on the phone, they tell us maybe they can schedule us NEXT WEEK. Yeah, right, guys. Business lost. I have been using Treat's pools for a few years now. Switched when I went looking for a new pool cover. They were responsive, helpful, thorough, and honest with my quest to get a new pool cover. Since then, I have used them to close and open our in ground pool. Flexible with appointment dates, up front on the costs, and do a great job. I was impressed the first time we had them close our pool as they were detailed in ensuring the pipes were all winterized. Calling in for questions and appointments, the staff are always friendly and responsive. I have had nothing but good customer service from them. read more

We have been dealing with Treat's pool for the last 5 years, last year was the final draw, we had our pool closed in September as we typically do. They arrived at 5:30pm to close our pool....we noticed that they were taking much longer to put tarp on the pool. (we have an unground pool with a tarp) We noticed the young men jumping on the buckles to close the tarp instead of fastening them like they usually do. What usually takes 10 minutes to do was now taking 45 minutes and when looking out we noticed they were having some sort of problem. They ripped the tarp, left and didn't even tell us- furthermore the owner was very defensive and would not take any responsibility for what happened after being a loyal customer for 5 years. Needless to say we took our business to COTE pools this year and will NOT be doing business with Treats again. read more

Service Dept guy was a Duffle bag. Rude and didn't even want to hear my issue because Treats didn't service my type of spa. It's sad when a once good business goes downhill under new leadership. Treat's customer service is horrible. We put a deposit down for a new pool liner-9/2021 I was told we could pick a pattern and I specifically started I wanted a heavy gauge and wanted it installed. Feb 2022 we received a call asking if we still wanted both the liner and -we did. The end of March 2022, I had to make numerous calls to find our status and was told we were 19th on the install list. We were told maybe late May. We opted to pick up our liner and do it ourselves. We informed Treat's and the women who waited on us when we picked up our liner (stock, not heavy gauge or a pattern of our choosing- but we needed a liner desperately) that we were canceling our install. On 5/20/22 I came home to an empty pool with our filter running. Treat's sent someone out to replace our liner without phoning and emptied our pool completely- with the new liner we put I ourselves. Email was sent as it was after hours, no phone call came the next morning so I had to call. The first young guy I spoke with said there was nothing he could do- I asked his name, he said "Bob". I replied "Bob, I'd like to speak to your manager" to which he stuttered and responded his name was something else andBob was the manager. Bob got on the line, was immediately defensive, refused to make the situation right, said I had to speak to the woman handling the installs and she "may" be in on Monday. I asked if she had a phone- he responded he was trying to call her and that he was going to hang up on me because he was done with the conversation. A half hour later 2 men showed up at my door at 8:40am. One said he believed there had been a miscommunication. At least he apologized for emptying my pool. He said he was going to "make it right", I asked when. I also told him he would not be getting his pump and hose back until I got my pool water (per Montville police who suggested this). To his credit- they came later that morning. Clearly this man was a subcontractor. Treat's never called to apologize for the issue. Treating customers with respect and apologizing for any miscommunications goes a long way today and they refused to own their mistake. They're lucky I returned the pool liner their installer left that had our last name on it. This was a reputable business but find your products elsewhere because no one knows what they're doing, no one accepts responsibility for mistakes and no one has been trained in the art of customer service. read more

Absolutely atrocious service. If I could give 0 Stars, I would. I called back in April to receive a quote. Not only did they lose the original quote and had to come back again but continued to tell me they needed to come back to quote the pool a second third time but I had proof of the original statement. After months of Stacy dodging mine and my husbands phone calls, I speak with an associate so rude when I asked if I could speak with her immediately. August comes, my husband and I both call and finally get a response that the pool would be done in August. Well our pool was not put in until September. Not just that but as we call for an update and continue to receive 0 feedback, they show up at our house while we are at work and ask for the code to our gate!! No notice or anything, so I have to leave work a 1/2 hour away to let them in. Extremely rude, unprofessional and disrespectful. I have never been so disappointed in a company. They will NOT EVER receive a referral or service from us again. Whoever has posted positive reviews on this place, either know the employees or the people that own the place because they're re far from the truth. Evan and team came to my rescue!! I have a Radiant salt water pool, bought it from treats (with a heat pump) 6 years ago...I cross threaded by salt cell when opening the pool. Went to see the team on Saturday, the first 80 degree weekend...needless to say, they were busy (no open service dates until July); Evan over heard my issue, stepped in with suggestions and once he determined there was no remedy; he and his scheduler found a way to fit me into the schedule...come Monday morning, the truck pulled in and in 45 minutes, the cell was fixed (along with a leaking line). Quick response. Quick repair. Very reasonable price. Excellent customer service!! Thanks to the team, we should be swimming Memorial Day weekend (weather permitting)!! read more

Worst customer service ever. Doesn't call to confirm day or time of pool closing...then complains when the pool cover isn't outside. We have ALWAYS left the basement hatch open for them...why isn't that in their notes? He says.."we always have this problem with you"??? When I scheduled the appointment they never mentioned what needed to be outside. I am a single woman who's husband is deployed right now...there is no way I could carry that cover out of the basement. They called at 9:24 to say they didnt see the cover, I called back at 9:39 and they said they left and wouldn't go back. What ass hats!! I just called another place and they are going to send me a closing checklist...great idea. I ordered a hot tub cover and was offered delivery and pick up of old cover (which weighs a ton due to water inside it) when they called to say it was in, I confirmed that I wanted delivery. Well they delivered, but didnt pick up the.old one. When I called, rude lady said I only paid $50 for delivery not $75 for delivery and pickup. I told her no one ever mentioned 2 prices? She said they could come out 3 weeks later and get the old one if I wanted to pay the $25 extra. When I asked to speak to a manager, an older man got on the phone and ended up hanging up on me when I continued to ask for a quicker pickup. read more

My pool was originally set to go in, in July and it finally went in, in late September. My phone calls were repeatedly dodged when trying to get an update on our pool installation. I was assured over and over again after July had passed that we would definitely be ready for August, but when August passed I was told," Well at least we have all September to get it in." Followed with a chuckle from the wonderful staff at Treat's Pools. ALSO, our pool was covered under our insurance and our insurance company refused to send the entire amount of money at once for the fix because they wanted proof from us that the work had been completed first due to our insurance company deeming Treats as a liability and unreliable with their lack of urgency. They installed a liner and it had two holes in it the first day. Our water drained 2 inches over night. They will be hearing from our lawyers so they will have to pay us back after we had to buy $800 worth of water a second time after having our pool liner replaced two days after the first liner installation. read more

Step one... If considering Treats, RUN! Like most Sales departments, they are in the business to make a sale. This outfit will talk a great game, then once sale is made, leave the customer hanging. We had a new 26' above ground pool purchase. This included the ground prep, as well as all the set up and water. little did we know (at the time), Treat's hires out loser excavating business' to do the work. Why,...because they get them cut rate. Then the install team shows up. Another "loser" group! The ground leveling was inferior, as the end result shows a slanted pool! The install team, could not figure out what was meant by installing the edge of pool parallel to existing deck edge. So, an entire new structure of decking had to be designed and erected, because Treat's could not follow directions. More money from homeowner to correct something that never needed to be corrected. Once water installed, liner was found to have wrinkles in it...Treat's found this acceptable, no one else did -but now the water was in! It has been relatively short time now since "installation". Despite numerous phone calls to them, NO ONE from Treat's has come out to remedy anything, only quasi "lip service" over phone. This year, the sans filter has apparently plugged. Promises and promises of when the service tech is coming out. Shortened vacation schedule to accommodate expected service visit. Meanwhile, pool is getting greener and greener. Never showed. No phone call, no communication as to what was reschedule, NOTHING. We call again, get told you need to speak with "Pat", he will schedule you. Unfortunately, for us, "Pat" was the moron that did the original scheduling! Presently, we are ready to use the pool as a target practice experience, and allow the already green water slowly irrigate the wrecked landscape from Treat's site crew, to grow lawn once again! if there was a way to realize a negative rating of stars, they earned it! Folks... do yourselves a HUGE favor... find a different Pool company to deal with. Treat's Pool and Spas truly demonstrated what THEIR customer appreciation and service ethic is all about. I had purchased a pool 2 weeks when the motor and pump just stopped working I was promised a new one as it is under warranty. Stacey who was very helpful and kind set me up with a new one and an apology. When the day arose for delivery and I wanted a time frame, Evan, the manager, told me I was being pushy and then proceeded to use profanity at me telling me he was the highest in the company. He point blank told me " I am the one who is f...... this up for you" and hung up. Never could I imagine any manager swearing at a customer after the company messed up. I can only hope no one is ever treated like this and while Stacey was apologetic and helpful, I could not ever recommend to anyone using this company with management like Evan running the store. read more

*PLEASE READ!!! Be VERY weary of this place. Bought a "kiddie" pool elsewhere (large - 8 feet long, 5 feet wide, 3 feet deep) with no filter system as this is an actual kiddie inflatable pool....went to this place to ask if they had any suggestions besides a chlorine tab to help keep the water clean for more than a couple days (holds way too much water to keep emptying and refilling that often). The sales guy gave me a bottle of shock and told me to add half to the water as I was filling it, wait 24 hours, and then enjoy swimming. He also said that when the water began to look murky, I could add the other half of the bottle...that all in all, I should be able to keep the same water in for 2 weeks or so using the method he described. I went home and did exactly as he told me to. Please see attached photos of what happened to my $160 bathing suit, not to mention my skin and hair. THANK GOD I didn't put any children in this chemical mess. I went back to the store today with my bathing suit to show them, as well as the receipt for the NEW suit I had to buy (another $160), and asked to speak with the manager. I was very nice, initially...until this arrogant, rude, and shockingly unapologetic manager woman had the audacity to start to ARGUE with me - saying that her sales person was right and that's what I needed to do to keep the pool clean. "How can that be right when you look at the results of doing what your salesperson suggested?" I asked. She just kept saying the same thing over and over, that they were "right". Very rude, very smug, no apology whatsoever. Insane. I'm strongly considering a small claims lawsuit...and, dear readers, you should strongly consider going ANYWHERE else for your pool needs. read more

When they opened my pool this year it was very black. I assume that no chemicals were added when they closed it last year. Once I cleared it there were spots which I thought were black algae. It's going to be extremely hard for you not go to this place if you own a pool in the Norwich/Montville area. But don't go !!! You can find a better place who will value your business. The employees who come out are actually really nice and helpful but the owner(s) (I believe his name is Steve or Ron and his wife) are the type of people that when they shake your hand you need to make sure you still have 5 fingers left. In the last 4 summers I have spend over $5,000 at treats which includes a new liner for my pool. This past summer I put my house on the market and wanted a professional (Treats) to come cover the pool, so it would stay on. Previous winters it has fallen off. As soon as I came home from work and saw the way they put the cover on, I told my husband it would fall off the first time in rained. He said that Treats guaranteed that it wouldn't and sure enough it did. I spent $400 to have Treats close my pool and the cover didn't last a week before falling off. The came out and blamed a tear in the liner for the cover not staying on. All summer the pool was open with no holes and all of sudden after them working on it there was a "tear" in liner. GIVE ME A BREAK! The liner was from them and was less then 2 years old !!!! And of course the warranty on it just ended too. Do you think Treats would refund me any of my money and come get their cover from the bottom of my pool?!?!?! Nope!!!!!!! After spending $5k with them you would have thought they would value my business at least enough to refund me half. Anything ... Would be better then the nothing I got. I will never go to them and I will advise you to do the same. Go on home advisor and find someone else. I guess since business as been really bad for them and so they desperately need that money... We had our pool installed by Treats back in 2003 so of course we called them when we needed our liner replaced. The liner looked beautiful but the water kept going down. I called Treats and they sent out their guy to try and locate the leak (many times and many water refills later all of which I paid for) they were NOT ABLE to locate the leak! I was finally given the phone number (by Treats) for American Leak Detection. AMAZING COMPANY who did find the leak AND fixed it! So hundreds of dollars later, a summer without water in our pool it was finally fixed NO THANKS to Treats! We had paid them 6K cash for a new liner and it took us a whole season to get it working properly. So if you want a company who backs up their product go somewhere else! read more

Horrible, horrible service. Our hot tub, which we bought from them, sprung a leak in January. They finally came out to pick it up in the middle of MAY!!!! They said they had to wait for the snow to melt at their shop. Our tub was fully accessible all winter long. Snow's been gone in Montville since March, easily. Three weeks later, the tub was dropped off and now we have to schedule a tech to come hook it up!! Are you kidding??? NEVER AGAIN! DONT buy from these guys unless you can fix everything yourself. I have dealt with (1) major pool retail company ( of which I will never (Namco) deal with ever again, and one family owned pool dealer that is quite close to home (Ideal Pools) and has had a great track record but has since been sold and the new ownership doesn't have a clue. I looked up (Treat's Pools & Spas) in Montville, CT. and figured it was too far away for them to come and install my storm damaged 24' round above ground pool. I received a nice down payment for a pool from my mother for my birthday. Called Treats as they were closest to where we live. Asked for a starting cost on an above ground, 24' oval pool. The guy rudely stated they start at $6000 to $7000 and that I should call Namco. Then he just hung up on me. Still searching to buy a pool 24' oval, with pump, salt water so resin or aluminum. The owner/ managers are rude and condescending. The products are overpriced, and although the staff can be somewhat helpfull, but never friendly, keep selling me the wrong parts for my filter. I have to keep coming back to return what doesn't fit. When I stated the parts didn't fit correctly the manager stated "nobody else has a problem with it" and walked away. read more

I have used Treats for the last two years for pool opening and closing services. Each time they were terrible. Last year (2015 season) they failed too put the cover on correctly when the pool was closed in 2014. When the pool was opened in 2015, I had the net of two trash cans full of leaves on the bottom of my pool, which took a lot of time to clean. The service crew said they did not have prior experience with my type of pool given the presence of a waterfall feature, and indicated they would be more careful with the cover and side bags next season, so I gave them another chance. In 2016 they opened my pool - I was out of town at a meeting when they did this. While there were few leaves on the bottom, there were many other problems. According to my wife, the staff were only here for 30 min. and about all they did was remove the cover. About 6 stoppers were left in place when they finished, and I had to remove them myself. The main pump, waterfall and Polaris booster were turned on. However, I came back from my meeting to find the main pump seized and dry. It was thermally cycling for 2 days, and I was lucky they did not burn it out. I was able to free the impeller and get it started, and water sprayed out of the cartridge filter, as it was not closed correctly. It took me about 2 hours to correct all of the problems. Clearly their staff either did not know what they were doing or were lazy. When I called the service department to complain, the manager debated all of this. He did send the crew to try to fix some of these problems two days later, but they never called in advance (as was promised), and I presumed they were not coming - so I fixed all of these problems myself. After two failed experiences, I have decided to switch pool companies and never use Treats again. I recommend that you not consider them unless you know a lot about your pool and can fix all of the problems they generate yourself. read more
