Entrance to treaty oak park.

If you find yourself in the area, take the minute to walk the board walk around the oak tree. It is huge and stunning.

Jacksonville's Treaty Oak

Back in the 1930s when developers were grabbing up bits of land to build on, a local newspaper reporter took it upon himself to save this massive 200 year old oak tree. He fabricated a story that there had been some treaty signed here between settlers and the native Americans. Yes, fabricated. And so this tree is till standing and protected. The tree is surrounded by a low boardwalk that keeps people from tripping over roots. When I stopped by today, someone was setting up for a wedding of some sort. It looked pretty cool. On a warm spring afternoon, the shade of this massive Southern Oak was particularly comforting. It is around 70 feet tall and extends twice as much along the ground. There is street parking around the park. [Review 344 of 2025 - 1997 in Florida - 23906 overall]

This is a very tiny park that has a huge old (250+ years old) tree in the middle. The day I jogged through, there were people in tents inside of the tree. I couldn't really get any good photos or stand underneath the tree because of all the people. The tree really is massive, but this doesn't really feel like a park. There were also people on bicycles riding through the grass. Maybe I just went on an odd day, but this was not at all what I was expecting to see. I will try to go back to check out the inside of the tree, but not by myself next time.

The tree brought me here! There is a lot of lawn around this opening among high rise buildings in downtown Jax. As others have mentioned, there is no parking lot, but I was able to live park and run over to see the tree. There are really no other trees in the park, so no shade canopy on a sunny/hot day. You will want to prep water and SPF accordingly. I am so pleased to see this 250yo tree so well treated! The Old Senator tree in St. Augustine is 650 years old, and that disrespected senior has a tiny patch in a parking lot for a gross motel, with trams passing it all day long. That poor FL treasure is not permitted to grow and spread out like this phenomenal tree in Jacksonville. In Brunswick, GA, Lover's Oak (over 900 years old) has a bit more space on a median strip, but again, roads on either side. Treaty Oak Park is living proof that these natural beauties can thrive if given the real estate. I'm so happy to see how huge it is, and healthy and happy to boot! The MOSH Mouth statue is very nearby in James Weldon Johnson Park for more photo ops!

It is free park at downtown Jacksonville. No parking space near by. So we park at the bus parking temporarily and watch if the police come to chase us out. Our visit is short and should be good before police show up at our parking spot. The park is famous of the old oak was there. This oak is about 70 feet tall. The trunk Is more than 15 feet diameter. This oak is famous on it branch reach the floor like octopus tentacle. It is great place for photos. The tree branch probably reach 40 feet in each direction. It is beautiful to take the photos with the branch only. I can imagine hang a hammock have afternoon nap. According to the historian is more than two hundred years old. Great find in Jacksonville.

I got married and did my wedding photoshoot at Treaty Oak Park on a Saturday morning. The images came out amazing. I always loved big beautiful trees (especially if they have moss hanging from the tree branches). My family loved the ida of holding my photoshoot here and it was a great success. I had a family friend take the photographs for me and they came out beautiful to say the least. I'm very happy.

This tree is known as Florida's largest oak tree and Jacksonville's oldest living landmark. We found few parking spots available right in front of the park's front entrance. Standing under this tree is undeniable like standing in a presence of greatness. Just think how many people in the past 250 years stood there, and this tree peacefully all watched us come and go. The events this tree must have witnessed!! I could almost feel it's hugging me.. the way the branches are touching the ground and swirling, simply feels like it's reaching down for you to give you a hug. Simply magnificent specimen, I'm proud there were people out there that fought and preserved this oak for future generations to enjoy! I know I am definitely grateful and humbled by experience.

This truly is a historic tree!!!! It's an underrated attraction in the Urban Core (Downtown) area of Jacksonville, Florida. I'm surprised it's not even in TripAdvisor's Top 15 Best Things To Do in Jacksonville, FL!!! This tree is about 200 years old and the park that it's (conveniently) located in is an abundantly family-friendly place, since it's in a safe and (mostly) clean part of town! I recommend this place for tamiles with small children to visit this historic tree! However, it's against the rules to climb this tree. Therefore, it'd be best to observe this tree from the ground!!

You must go see this 250 plus year old tree. It's a humbling experience. I can't wait to go back time and time again. Pictures will not do it justice.

Treaty Oak is such a majestic piece of living history right in the middle of our beloved city! It was so easy to pull right up out front and start exploring... there were squirrels throwing acorns at us... dew on the tree... and the sun rising and starting to peak through the massive branches... Definitely an enchanting scene, whether you are night shifters who were looking to escape the hospital walls after 13 hrs, or your looking for a picnic spot or even a place to have a wedding Treaty Oak could be your spot...

This is a beautiful sweet park with a neat story as to why it's called "Treaty Oak". It isn't a large park but once you get underneath the tree you'll get lost for a while. Parking can be tricky but I just park in the small lot right in front of the park and walk over. You can also park on the streets surrounding. I got married under this beautiful tree!

This place is so neat. We need more parking spots near it. I had a hard time finding parking. The two spots where full. Lol anyways if your in the area stop and take some pics. I will warn you though you will see bums sitting around.. that's the only downside to this place.

Cool to see even in a rainy day!

I just happened to pass by this park during my short visit to jacksonville during a business trip and saw a huge oak tree in it. Turns out, it's a city park dedicated to the largest living thing existing in the entire city, older than any building. By now, it is well over 250 years old and just massive. I came on a rainy day, so I couldn't hang around long, but it did provide a canopy so I didn't get wet in certain places on the deck underneath. Pretty neat if you like visiting historically significant monuments or buildings in the city. The front parking lot is labeled for bus parking only, but nobody is there to stop a car from parking for 5 mins to take a couple of photos.

Some trash around and on the start of the trail. Beware there were tons of mosquitos on the trail and a stray cat. Who knows how many more. We really have no desire to go back. Those pictures of the "lake" do Not Look anything near like that in person in a negative way sadly and I would probably barely call it a lake.

Losco Regional Park is a really nice park with a really nice walking path that goes around a lake…read more It also has a children's playground, a few soccer fields, a splash type water park, public restrooms, adequate parking and much more. I can't believe that this is my first time here as I am often in the area and seek out parks to walk and get some steps towards my minimum ten thousand steps a day minimum. But now that I have discovered Losco Regional Park, I will say that I will definitely return to this wonderful park. This park was also pretty popular on this particular Thursday morning. There were plenty of people enjoying the park. Losco Regional Park is truly a great park and I definitely recommend a visit here. I will also give Losco Regional Park an overall rating of five stars. Go check Losco Regional Park out for yourself.
