I used Tree Care, Inc. for a large maple tree at my rental property in October 2024. At that time, I paid $1,590 total for the work. The scope included elevating the tree away from the house, reducing weight as needed, removing dangerous deadwood from the canopy, and lightly thinning the interior to allow wind through. About 21 months later, a large limb from the same tree broke during a storm. I contacted the company again and asked them to inspect the tree and determine what needed to be done. I was then sent Proposal #25453 for $2,650 for "trimming of limbs over the home back to fork." I did not accept the proposal because I felt the price was extremely high, especially considering I had already paid nearly $1,600 less than two years earlier for significant safety-related pruning on this same tree. After I didn't respond, they sent another proposal with the same proposal number and same basic scope of work, but the price had suddenly dropped to $2,120. That's a $530 difference without any explanation as to why the original price was $2,650 or why the price could suddenly be reduced. Before making any decision, I emailed them and asked some very reasonable questions: Why was this much additional work necessary less than two years after the previous pruning? How did this work differ from what they had already done? Did the recent storm reveal new structural problems? And why was the new work more expensive than the previous work when the description was actually less detailed? They never responded. That's ultimately what has left me most disappointed. I'm not opposed to paying for necessary tree work, and I understand that a major storm can cause a limb to fail even when a tree has previously been maintained. What I expected was an explanation from the company that performed the original work. Instead, I'm looking at roughly $3,700 in tree trimming over less than two years, and at that point I'm seriously questioning whether repeatedly spending $2,000+ every couple of years makes sense versus removing the tree altogether. I gave them an opportunity to explain the pricing and the recommended work before leaving this review, but they chose not to respond. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend them and will be getting other opinions before spending another dollar on this tree. read more

My experience with Tree Care Inc. was very disappointing. The sales representative was friendly and responsive before I signed the contract, but once the contract was signed, communication completely stopped. They didn't show up on the scheduled day and never reached out to let me know or reschedule. When they finally came, they were unable to complete the job because their equipment couldn't access the area -- an issue that had already been discussed in detail with the sales representative. On his advice, I even agreed to remove additional bushes to provide better access, something I hadn't originally planned to do. Despite this, they still failed to remove the main tree that prompted the entire project. Despite this, it not only left me with higher cost but added future work to be done and even more expense. Tree Care Inc. has poor communication, unreliable scheduling, and disappointing customer service. I would not recommend them based on my experience. read more

Reasonably priced and the guys did a thorough job trimming branches and removing ones too close to the house

Started off great, got 90% of the work done (mid-February), but ground was to wet to finish the job. Said they would be back. Never have showed up, now mid-April. No response from numerous phone calls, e-mails, and text messages. Personally went to two different office locations, but no one there and other businesses at adjacent locations had no idea where they had moved to. The address given on this web-site was one of them; the other on Aiken Road. As stated in one of the reviews noted, they "pushed" to get paid (which we did) and had problems getting the checks to them. After being paid, that seems to have ended all contact. My recommendation would to avoid doing business with this company. Pricing might be attractive, but not getting the work completed and a complete lack of customer service should make you think twice! read more

I had a signed contract with Tree Care Inc to remove three trees from my yard. They arrived with what seemed like a very capable crew with lots of heavy equipment. When the leader looked at my trees, he said they significantly underbid the project and they would need substantially more money than in the contract. While their contract price was significantly lower than other quotes, I felt they needed to stand by the amount in the signed contract. The leader told me the contract allowed such modifications. I told him to show me and he referenced the last statement in the contract: "The validity, performance, construction, and effect of this contact shall be governed by the laws of the State of Kentucky." I then asked for a reference to that specific law and he could not give it to me. I later conferred with a friend of mine who is an attorney in Kentucky, and she said she is not aware of any such law. I told the team leader I would not pay more, so they left. Later that day, I spoke with the young man who came to my house and gave me the quote. He said he had apparently underbid it and he and his boss were coming out the next day to look at the project. I did not hear anything from them after that. My reaction to this is that I did not want to deal with a company that does not keep their word. Since they did not require a down payment, I let it go and pursued other quotes. This company certainly seemed capable. I don't know what kind of job they would have done, but I think they should stand behind their signed contract. read more

Set up a day and time to have a tree removed in specific time frame- no one ever came, I reached out next day to find out what happened, they blamed the weather. It was sunny and 70... I asked for a rescheduled date- they only had 3.5 weeks from then which wasn't going to work as we had scheduled a tree to be replanted a week after. So I let them know that- they called me back to back 5 times while I was in a meeting- ended up sending someone over immediately without notifying me and then had to come back to remove stump- never notified me about when that was going to be either. long story short, find someone else and save yourself a headache read more

This was the second time they've done work at my house and they are always the most competitive price I receive. Plus they truly outperformed my expectations. Tucker was able to get out to the house for an estimate sooner than anyone else, and that meant coming out on a Saturday. I also feel really well taken care of by Nathan, who was the technician I dealt with direct on the day of the appointment. Was told by Tucker I wouldn't have to pay until the job was complete. That was a lie. He had the office call me and request payment before the stumps were ground and didn't even have the courtesy to tell me himself. Tucker prepared the quote which included all the stumps that were to be grinded. The stump grinder arrived and said one couldn't be done. I asked to have my bill adjusted as a result. Tucker then told the stump grinder and the owner that he had already told me it couldn't be done (why would it be on the quote and confirmed that morning with Tucker via text if that were so and why would I have agreed to pay for it anyway?). That was a lie. They took a whopping $30 off the bill. Gee. Thanks. Was quoted a price to take down a tree so that it would not drop on my neighbors property which was difficult. My husband and I BOTH told Tucker and the person on the job explicitly NOT to drop the tree in the neighbors yard. I was charged $1000 for this one tree which was a premium price due to the difficulty. It was dropped in my neighbors yard AND it took out another one of his trees which had to cut down as a result. Both were left in my neighbors yard. I was told they checked with the neighbor and he said it was okay. WTF? Who is paying for this anyway? Who is the customer? I stated that was not what I paid for and didn't seem right to charge me the full $1000. They didn't offer to take anything off and made more excuses about asking my neighbor if they could do it. I have many more trees to be removed and had hoped to have a company I could trust and rely on to do it over the next few years. I will have to keep looking. First they provided a low ball proposal aon two trees then under the same quote number resubmitted an altered quote for one tree removal at a higher cost then the original one. They we're very poor at responding to text request to clarify and ultimately withdrew their interest to provide services. This company came out and gave us an estimate for 400 dollars and we told them that we had 200 dollar off coupon they assured me that it would be added to our total, every time I talked to them they assured me that the discount would be applied and then they still charged me 400 dollars. Come to find out they won't charge less than 400 dollars for a job and just never told me. Why would you offer a 200 dollar off coupon and tell someone that you would honor it and constantly assure them you would honor it, just to ignore it and charge them what you want anyways. During a recent ice storm a 25 foot tree snapped in half with the top half lying on our roof (thank goodness no damage to the roof). Eventually the half on the roof eased off the roof to rest on our fence. We needed to have it removed and the other half cut down. We saw the Tree Care truck in the neighborhood at another residence and called the company. They were prompt in showing up to give an estimate. Their first quote was $625 dollars! (we had a much larger tree voluntarily removed last year for half that amount!!) We eventually haggled to $525 and due to the urgency, we agreed to the price, still believing that it was too high. When the job was finished, I asked for a receipt and was given a small scrap of paper torn from a notebook that had, "Paid $525 for tree removal" scrawled across it. No business logo, nothing!! I asked if they could provide a better receipt and was told I would have to go to the office for one. My husband called the office and was told that one would be mailed. After a week without a receipt, my husband had to go in person to the office to request a receipt. If we find ourselves in need of tree removal again, we will probably call a different company. read more

Was looking for clean up on at my home. Just needed a chipper truck and some labor. I have to cut down the tree and some bushes wanted to coordinate a timeline for the clean up. once i had a timeline i would cut and stack it for them. so I did not have a mess in the yard for weeks. Asked for a quote and tucker came out and met with me. Told me with the discounts it would be 400. I did not even know there was discounts. It sounded pretty good. I told him I would need a few weeks to get the money he said no problem. A few week go by I get the money together and text him back to let him know and make sure we are good to go. No response. next day I text him. he asks me for pictures. thought it was a bit weird but ok maybe he need to jog his memory of the work. he goes silence for two days. so i got to the purposal he sent me and accepts it. the next morning at 5am i get a text and he comes back and says it 800 dollars. I asked him why when he quoted me 400 and he makes false claims about talking to me about being around 600 to 900. I call him out as a liar. he says its a lot of labor. I defended my position cause its only an hour of work with two groundman. at this point i am done. hes not going to do what he said and i know it. so I told him I was going to write a bad review cause its all I can do and he likes the text. tells me he sorry called him out on that as well. cause price gouging is not something you do when your sorry. anyway, my experience was not good and I will not recommend this company. read more

Without going into a long story about my experience, let me just caution anyone else about possible scams, especially elderly people. On the day the work was done, I was asked to pay by check, which I did. Later that evening, the son of the owner came knocking on my door saying he lost my check and would I write another. I did, but later stopped payment on both checks. I told the owner over a month ago and I still have not received any verification. I have no problem with the estimate from Tree Care of Louisville or the work completed. The communication however is crazy and very difficult to schedule. I received an email that my account was paid in full before the work was done - or paid for. I received 2 more after that. read more

Terrible Tree Service. Had them trim trees and plant a few last year in 2017. They knocked down fence posts and tore up the yard. Asked them to repair and they said they would do that.... for a fee.... You got to be kidding!! Sent them on their way. I decided to call the guys from Tree Care Inc, because they had done good work for my sister's trees. They came out the same day to give me a quote that was fair and reasonable for trimming a large tree limb that was cracked. They even came back the very next day and within no time finished their work. They were professional, fast and clean. There was not a sign of broken limbs after they cleaned up! I used Tree Care Inc to previously to remove large branches that fell after heavy snow. The price was reasonable. They were asked to leave some wood as firewood. They mess they left as firewood included the crotches which are most impossible to split along with rotted pieces, sticks, and other garbage not fit for a fireplace. After wrangling with them for several months of promises to return...it never happened and I gave up. I made the mistake this month to have them return to clear another large branch from the same tree. (hoping I could get them to clean up the wood pile from before). They came out several hours before the expected time to get the quote. Nobody was home and when I called they said the quote would be emailed. When it never showed I called and had them correct the email. Since they showed up with nobody home, I could not present the coupon for $100 off ahead of time. I was told I would get a call when they scheduled the work. Surprise, once again they showed up without any advance notice. They had completed the work before I could get home to once again present the coupon. My wife arrived home from work and met one of the workers and presented him with a check for $100 off the quoted price. He would not accept it claiming the contract, which I did not have in front of me stipulated that all discounts were included in the price. So, without any other information we paid the full amount and he assured us that the coupon was more of a gimmick than a real coupon since they always discount their price.....WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP. Nowhere in the contract does it make ANY such statement. So I was effectively scammed out of $100. They never return calls, respond to emails and it always seem to be a computer error when you call them over and over and they have no Idea why anything went wrong. I will no longer use this company and I don't recommend them to anyone. I checked BBB with regards to filing a complaint only to find out they had been using the BBB logo without consent or being a member. Not the most respectable company I would say. read more

Don't waste your time! I had some work done from Tree Care a couple years back mulch and put in a few bushes and a tree, great service. Fast forward a couple years and they have lost all sense of service to the customer. Called repeated times never can out. Finally got a hold of someone and they came out to do the bid, which just so happened to be the owner. I told him of repeated attempts to get in contact with someone and he told me that they lose paperwork all the time. Really? No apologies whatsoever. Moved past that and got the bid to do the work for the following week, they never showed up. Got a call from Tree Care today saying, "it appears we have a job to do for you". I said yes, "like a month ago". "Well when can we come do it". Me, "the job has already been done". If you want the run around and poor customer service these are your guys. read more

I should have read all reviews and/or been alarmed at how few were present prior to selecting this company. I had to call them several times following our initial estimate and proposal signing to even see if I had been placed on the schedule. I actually just found out I was on the schedule the morning of the service---after I called. The day began badly as they called to say that they would be arriving within the hour (at 10:18) and did not show until after 12:30. When I called to inform this office of this oversight I was advised initially that they would check on what crew it was and then take care of it. They said they would call me back. The individual that did call me back informed me that the crew had stopped for lunch and would be there in another (10-15 minutes). When I expressed how this had now inconvenienced me for the day I was advised that the crew coming out was a "very good crew and that I should try and keep it positive to assure a safe work environment," and that he would "rather address my concerns on the phone than for there to be trouble at the site." Say what? What exactly was I supposed to take from that statement? That my being upset for expecting what any reasonable customer should expect--timely, professional service--could lead to a less safe work environment? So I told him that I did not at all appreciate the tenor of that statement. Half-hearted apologies and absolutely no effort to right this obvious wrong. Then the "full crew", when they did show up, consisted of 4 men, two of which, at one point, I observed sitting under my gazebo smoking. We have a non-smoking home. I had to go outside when all was said and done and put everything back where it belonged as they made no effort to do so. We went with this company based upon the professionalism of the gentlemen who wrote our initial estimate. I would not recommend this company to anyone for any reason. read more
