I am not sure if I have used them or not. If I did, it was back in the 1990's. I had a valuable citrus tree moved because it was in the way of a home improvement project. See those giant inverted pyramid looking knives holding a tree above the air in Sir William G's photo? The machine they use is perfect!!! My tree never knew it had been moved!! First they take an inverted pyramid bite from where you want the tree to go and drop it near the tree to be moved . Then they pick up the tree to be moved with the exact same shape of protective soil root ball of the three. They take the tree and gently place it in the hole of the exact same size and shape they made for it. The tree does not suffer any shock. Then they put the displaced soil in the hole where the tree used to be. So what was the tree that was so valuable to me, you might ask? It was an Algerian Tangerine from Greenfield Nursery located in Mesa. As an Arizona native and citrus lover, there is no better tree than an Algerian. When buying citrus that I want to be quality, I go to Greenfield. I have purchased citrus from home Depot, Walmart, Kmart, etc... only to discover that it was not a tangerine but an orange or lemon. read more

For many years I had this monster of a tree with giant thorns growing way too close to my house and driveway, but could never bring myself to chop it down, so after about 35 flat-tires and a lot of bloodshed trying to trim this thing, I decided to either chop it down or have it moved (which I wasn't sure was possible). I did a google search and pow! there it was: Tree Relocators. They had me email a picture and to my amazement they said they could do it and the price was quite reasonable, so I gave the thumbs up. Two days later Blue Stake was out to mark the utility lines. The guy showed up on-time and with a gigantasaurus tree-moving machine and I immediately wanted one for myself. The whole process was both amazing and efficient and the fellow running the machine was totally professional. We have a rather elderly saguaro that had always been leaning but stable. That was probably wishful thinking, and considering how close it was to the house and knowing that it was just a matter of time before the elements prevailed and sent it crashing, no doubt through some part of the house, we decided to consult the experts. The folks at Tree Locators offered great and realistic suggestions, and we ended up relocating the old beauty in a new spot close but not endangering any structure. Now standing up straight it absolutely graces the front yard and would lay odds it will last much longer than it would if not moved. A younger specimen went in the original spot and looks great!
