Today was the third time I've used Treewest for tree removal services and they did an outstanding job as usual. A week ago, I contacted them and Hector came out for an in-person estimate. I wanted to have 7 palm trees removed. Some of the trees were a little tricky as I have artificial grass under some of them, and one of them was on an elevated slope. He quoted a fair price so I made an appointment to have them removed. They arrived by 7:40am and set things up and by 8am they were cutting (probably didn't want to start before 8am because of the chainsaw noise for the neighbors). They had a 3 person crew, one who climbed and cut the palms, and the other two to help as required. To protect the artificial grass from falling tree pieces, they laid out sheets of plywood. As another measure to keep falling tree trunk pieces from digging into and damaging the grass, they tied a rope to the heavy pieces and lowered them to the ground in a controlled fashion. And in the front yard where they had more room to work, they cut a couple of palms down with one cut. This way they didn't have to worry about having falling trunk pieces damaging the artificial grass. They worked hard and fast and were pretty much finished just after lunch time. Since there was no room for stump grinding equipment in my yard, they did a good job in cutting the stumps as close to the ground, if not slightly below it, as possible. As far as cleanup, they hauled away everything and left the front and back yards cleaner than when they first started. Hector also had his guys clean up my remaining 3 palms, which I really appreciated. I would definitely recommend Treewest if you need tree trimming or removal. read more

What can I say except, Tree Ninjas. These guys came and killed it, literally. Had a massive Peppertree that needed to come down. Hector gave me a more than fair quote that included stump grinding as well. They came and knocked it out. They were extremely careful of existing structures and plants. Bob T. had used Treewest for 4 years when he wrote his 2011 review and he's still using them to this day 4 years later. I knew this is the company I'd be using for my trees since Bob only uses the best. Just to start, my only complaint about Treewest is the initial communications with Hector. Now that I've met Hector in person I'm more understanding about why. You see, you have to use a Message Service to send him a message and wait for a call. Reason being is Hector is right there at the job making sure everything is done correctly so he can't take calls with loud chainsaws and woodchipper in the background so it's not until later in the day you'll get a call. It was a bit frustrating to play phone tag but it was well worth it. There was two trees on my property that needed service. 1. My birch tree. I love this tree but this last spring it didn't grow any leaves.... just a sad skeleton of a tree. I told Hector I really wanted to make sure it was dead before they removed it so they cut branches off at different points of the tree to see if there was any life. Sad to say the birch was dead. Dry as fire kindling. After about 5 minutes the tree was gone and a giant stump grinder made my beautiful tree a distant memory. Damn you drought!!!! 2. My ash tree. Huge tree that had a big limb growing over my roof that had a hollowing knot hole right at a major stress point. I didn't want this branch to fall on my house someday so I wanted that limb removed. Also wanted the tree to be trimmed and thinned out. They took about 10 feet off the top. The crew used a bucket lift to reach the high points and in about an hour had it trimmed perfectly. Very symmetrical and beautifully done even with a major limb removed. I was blown away and it totally exceeded my expectations. Excellent job by Hector and his crew. Besides having all the right tools of the trade they also have workers comp insurance so you can rest easy knowing accidents will be covered. When some of my closest and most respected Yelp friends gave Treewest 5 star reviews, I bookmarked for that day when I would need them. Sure enough that day came when I needed to have a large tree removed, so I thumbed through my yelp rolodex of bookmarks. After contacting Hector, he came out and gave me a very fair price to do the job. This tree was 75 feet high, close to my house and close to power lines. This was not the job for just some dude leaving his card at your door. I needed a licensed and insured professional company to handle this. Since I wasn't in a hurry to get the job done, he asked if it could wait until he was in the neighborhood doing some other scheduled work. No problem for me, that tree has been growing since the 1960's, a couple of more weeks wouldn't make a difference. Sure enough, he texted me a few weeks later and said he was ready to come by and take it out. Well I wasn't going to be home, but that wasn't a problem at all. Been using Treewest the past 4 years to trim my palm trees. Prior to hiring them, I checked their license and BBB rating. An A+ and more important - no complaints in the last 36 months). They have an answering service that forwards calls to the owner, Hector. He always gets back to me quickly, and now that they have been here a few times - I don't have to worry about getting an estimate. Hector is a great owner, he personally comes to the job-site to certify that his crew has done good work, and that I am happy with the result. They take great care to make sure that my things are safe from falling objects, and the area is cleaned up afterward. Treewest uses ladders and ropes to climb my palms; never spiked shoes - which is bad for the health of the tree. I have had them do some other work for me, at my house and at my other properties. Hired Hector and his team to remove two trees and trim two others. One removed tree was a fifty foot fan palm and the other was a pine tree. His team was excellent and able to complete all the work in one day and also cleaned up afterward. I hired Treewest Co. to do a major backyard slope clean up recently, removing away all the vegetation down to dirt. Hector is the business owner and his price was the most reasonable out of all. His communication before and during the job was excellent. He even gave me a copy of the invoice and the liability insurance coverage upon request which made me even more comfortable in moving forward with him. After requesting several quotes to trim three trees, a large specimen Tacoma Stans, and thin many large bushes in our CA native garden, we selected Tree West to do the work. Their quote was in the middle of the others we received, and Hector seemed most willing to take on thinning out our plants rather than just turning them into geometric shapes.
