Traveling from out of town and needed a tubless tire fix. They all welcomed us in and immediately put us at ease with assurances they could fix our issue right away. They took the time to educate us on how to fill the tire and what to do to avoid problems in the future. They checked the bike quickly and addressed a few issues. I have been wanting to buy my husband a bike for a while and planned to get him one for his birthday this year. But when Virginia shut down due to COVID-19 I was worried I wouldn't be able to buy a bike. I emailed with Spokes and Carl helped he choose the perfect bike for my husband - a recreational rider who needs something high quality and versatile. He sent me some options to consider over email so that when I visited the store I was able to choose the best one. Carl set me up with the accessories I needed but nothing I didn't need. When I asked about a certain bike rack, he came out and looked at my car and told me the rack wouldn't work on my car. Spokes has limited hours and have taken measures to keep their staff and customers safe. They are limiting the number of customers in the store, and when I was inside it was very easy to stay at least 6 feet from anyone else. Everyone was wearing masks. My husband loves his new bike and took it out for 20 km as soon as I gave it to him. He said it was the best ride he's ever had! read more

I just wanna say that I am blown away by the service that Spokes has given me. I am a brand new rider and Augie the (GOAT, Greatest of all time for those who aren't cultured) went above and beyond with answering all my questions and giving me great advice. With the other stores in the area, I was quoted for spring of 2020 for the bike I wanted in my budget. Even though they originally didn't have any bikes in my range, Augie still gave me advice on buying used or even from other retailers which I really appreciated. He just wanted to see me get into the hobby. What really blew me away was that the following day, somehow somewhere the exact bike I was looking for showed up in the shop and he had thought of me and contacted me about it. I have bought multiple bikes from Spokes at this location and I am a regular. The same people who were in charge of this location now run the Trek store. I have had the best experience over the years interacting with people at this location, servicing my bikes, follow up on warranties, fixing my bikes last minute and I am very thankful for all the help I get with my bikes here. I recommend this store to anyone for the service and for purchasing any bikes or accessories. I have many bike shops close to my house but I rather drive 40 minutes to get my bikes fixed here. read more

I haven't made a proper purchase there (Gu doesn't really count). But I was curious to see what the store was like under new ownership. Staff are friendlier and more helpful than under prior ownership. The Arlington location is the "Pro Level" Spokes store that sells higher-end products including triathlon bikes and Zipp wheels. I highly recommend Spokes Etc Arlington for us mere-mortal bicyclists. I'm tremendously relieved to have them in the neighborhood. I always use them for service. The techs are not pretentious and are honest. Plus, they'll email me to discuss diagnoses. Once, when I dropped off they assumed I'd need something that they later realized I did not. They emailed me to ensure I understood why they didn't think the service was necessary. They're really normal, nice and reliable folk. Unlike REI and other shops, they keep track of my service record. And, the price is right. Additionally, I was super pleased with a bike fitting session I had with Zach. Wow, I didn't realize how off my settings were. I'm a daily commuter on a commuter type bike - nothing fancy but very solid and durable. I'd been in PT for knee problems. As soon as Zach saw me peddling - truly, in less than 60 seconds - he knew why my knee hurt: my cleat was in the wrong position and my seat wasn't properly set. He adjusted every cleat on my 3 pair of shoes and then went through adaptations on every element of the bike. I could not believe how much more power I got from proper alignment: now I use my hamstrings, not just my quads, and it feels great. I'm a super satisfied neighbor/customer! read more

I've been in a few times to have work done on my bikes. I've found the the staff be knowledgeable and pretty friendly. They are quick with service and even adjusted my rear derailleur while I waited when I was expecting to leave the bike overnight. They've adjusted the cleats on my shoes at no charge and were friendly on advice about pedals, gear lube, whatever I've asked for. Having been to Spokes on Quaker Ln I am not surprised by the quality service here. I take on star only because like many shops it can still be a somewhat intimidating shop to go into if you are not the typical roadie crowd, but still I've always left feeling welcome and satisfied with my experience. read more

Horrible customer service. My wife's bike was shipped here to be assembled by them, first they told her they received it late (even though fedex tracking had it arriving there 2 days earlier), they dented one fender and scratched the other and didn't say anything to her. Didn't even bother to call her and tell her the bike was ready. Spend the extra 10 minutes driving and go to the Fairfax spokes, their customer service is superb compared to the Arlington location. read more

My husband ordered a bike through the Arlington location. They said it would take 10 days to get it in the store, but it took 14 days. That's okay. I would not expect them to be in complete control of the supply chain. So, two weeks after purchasing the bike, they called said the bike is fully assembled and ready for pickup. We head over there same day, and we were one of the first customers in there. No issues yet. They measure for him for the bike seat height while trying to sell additional stuff like expended service plans and bottle holders, but then they tell us them need to run some final checks on the bike, and it will only take about 20 minutes. Okay. We come back to the store 20 minutes. "Sorry guys, it's not quite ready yet. It will be a couple more minutes." We heard that same line several over the course next hour until the staff started to get rude with us and accuse of cutting line of customers waiting to be served. Nearly two hours past before the manager came outside to gave us the bike we had already paid in full and offered us a poor explanation for the long wait. We're buying somewhere else next time. read more

Bought an e-bike here yesterday, took it on its maiden voyage and the battery popped out when I hit a bump going downhill. The unit slid across the asphalt and got incredibly dinged up. I took the bike back to the shop and spoke to Carl, the manager. As we were removing the bike from my car, the battery popped out again. "I've never seen that happen before," he said. He promised to give me a new battery and deal with the issue through the manufacturer. He took the bike back to the shop, where a tech worked on the latch. Bottom line was they fixed it quickly, replaced the battery with no hassle and sent me on my way. Now I just hope I like the bike as much as I think I will. read more

My husband and I decided on bikes as our holiday gifts to each other. We spin for fitness but neither of us have been on a real bike since we were teens. We went to spokes as our first stop in our search in late Nov & met Evan. We didn't really know where to start & Evan helped by asking a lot of insightful questions about how we envision using our bikes, our budget, & personal preferences. He pointed us to a few bikes and after test riding we narrowed it down to a model for each of us, & put them on hold while we worked out our finances. Compared to our experience at other (very local) area bike shops, we felt like Evan really cared about making a good match for us & our bike needs & didnt dismiss us as new bike shoppers or pigeon-hole (or dismiss or force) us into a style/model/brand like another shop down the road did. We never felt sold or pressured at spokes & Evan did a lot to educate us on the spectrum of bikes that met our needs & helped us make an educated decision we felt confident in. Also, the shop didn't pester us or constantly call about holding our bikes before we made the purchase. We were very pleased with our experience at Spokes, happy we could buy our bikes from them, & would refer any first time bike shopper there. We 1000% trust spokes with servicing our bikes & are looking forward to the new bike owner workshops resuming post covid. We feel like we got the perfect bikes for us & we are very excited to take our new bikes out! read more

Stopped by on a busy Saturday morning to get new brakes. The staff was courteous and promptly waited on me despite working on other bikes when I arrived. They provided an estimate for the work and said they'd call me when it was finished. I was pleasantly surprised when they called only an hour later. The price was reasonable - Especially since they went beyond just replacing the brakes by adjusting the derailleur and worn cables. I will definitely be back! read more

This is perhaps the worst shop of any kind in all of NoVa. Their customer service is beyond horrible. Their inventory is exceptionally over priced and geared toward ripping you off. In the process of attempting to get the bike I ordered online assembled by them they openly lied to me on at least three occasions. They never return calls and then after screwing up the simplest of tasks tried to sell me a stupidly over priced bike in a style I have ZERO interest in owning. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Be warned DO NOT use this bike shop for anything. Just in Arlington there are at least 5 better shops that don't lie, try to sell you crap you don't want or screw up simple instructions. read more

Extremely nice and knowledgeable staff. Just don't go there at lunch time. Their parking spaces are full of either Gold's Gym or & Pizza customers. Outstanding shop with friendly employees. Arrived in Arlington for a one week stay and brought my bicycle. While unloading, noticed a frayed shift cable about to break. Rode into Spokes in Arlington and they replaced cable immediately as I waited. In addition, fine tuned shift adjustments to perfection. Very reasonable (bargain!) charge. I went in the Arlington shop to only have a snapped rear gear cable replaced and the mechanic there refused to do the work, saying that my TREK 4300 hybrid bike was unsafe because my brakes weren't working. It was kind of a shock to hear this, because I had ridden the bike over there and the brakes are working fine, and showed him. Is it a policy of this particular shop, or just an arrogant mechanic deciding that they won't work on a bike that they seem unworthy of their expertise? I left the store quite perturbed at this particular mechanic, who even went on to tell me what an inferior bike I had, which was totally uncalled for. I was told that my ride was unsafe (which it isn't), so I'll have to go have someone else fix it. Is this really a store-wide policy? Apparently, another reviewer seems to have had a similar experience. Bottom line, I would not recommend the Wilson Blvd location for minor repairs unless you want to hear about what else is wrong with your bike and take the chance of being refused service. I should note that I was attracted to Spokes by the services and reasonable prices listed on their website, and to this location by logistics and convenience. Unless some other location has a reasonable and less snobby mechanic, I will not be using this outfit again. read more
