A hidden gem in Southwest Phoenix. I live pretty close to here and was amazed that a place so beautiful is so close. I took visitors from out of town here because they love birding. They were very happy with all they saw. The trail is flat and even. The views of the mountains are gorgeous. The parking lot is a little small and was pretty full on a Saturday morning. There are some signs along the trail to explain about some of the terrain and wildlife. I can't wait to come back and explore more!

Visited the wetlands during a nature festival. A number of local organizations had booths at the festival. A lot of the booths had great information for both adults and children. Lots of information about water conservation, waste management, animal habitats and recycling. If I hear about the expo next year, I would attend again. Because of the festival, we did not get to explore the wetlands very much. What we did see was interesting. The landscape definitely made us feel like we were no longer in Phoenix. There are some nice places there to fish. They had a canoeing station. I am not sure if people are allowed to bring their own small boats there. It would be a long walk from the parking lot to the water if doing so. Parking is free. The lot is not paved.

This place is a hidden oasis in Southwest Phoenix. The Estrella Mountains to the South look large and majestic from this spot. It is easy to miss if you are not looking for it. Sitting next to and part of a large City of Phoenix water treatment facility, this riparian spot is a great day trip. There is fishing(license required), and the best thing is that it is free. You sign up to get a permit to visit the site, and keep a copy on your phone or paper copy while there. It is also open(for now) to those who may not live in Phoenix. You can walk, run , or bike on the 315 mi long Maricopa Trail that takes you through fertile farmlands where the Hohokam Indians once lived and thrived. Aside from the plane noise from being in the flight path of Sky Harbor, the place is pretty serene. The smell of the water is like the ocean, except not as salty or fishy in my opinion. There is plenty of shade, but be vigilant because there are animals in the shade too. I've only seen birds, lizards, and 1 desert cottontail, but bobcats, coyotes and snakes are around as well. I have only been here 3 times, but it has only gotten better since I first went around 10 years ago. Bring plenty of water, and use the restroom. I can't really stress that enough. Bring water.

Such a beautiful and unique area! I love to go here for bird watching- it's a great location to bring your dogs along! Very easy to access the permit on your phone. I felt very safe the whole time so was here and saw some great birds!

The wetlands provide habitat for local and migratory wildlife.

The garden is well maintained and organized, quiet place for give yourself quiet time and meditation. The garden is not that big place to walk around, but it's definitely worth it if you feel like need to escape and looking for nature therapy--this is the one! Give yourself more time to sit back and enjoy the greenery. The staff is super friendly and welcoming! I will definitely come back again soon.

But personally, I just don't see it being worth the price of $14 a person. One of the biggest things for me was that the actual area itself felt a lot smaller than I expected. On top of that, there were SO many people packed in that it was hard to even stop for a second and actually enjoy the ambiance without constantly being surrounded by crowds or trying to move around people. It kind of took away from the experience because instead of feeling immersive or relaxing, it mostly just felt overcrowded. What also made it hard for me to justify the price is that you can literally see the entire thing through the fence from the park next to it. Honestly, if I ever wanted to see it again, I'd probably just go sit at the park, save my money, and actually have more room to enjoy the view comfortably without feeling packed in shoulder to shoulder with everyone else. Overall, it's definitely very pretty and visually impressive, but for me personally, the experience didn't match the cost enough to make me want to return.

I'd give the cleanliness and overall park quality a 10/10. There's something for all ages, and it's easy to spend a whole afternoon there. The train is definitely cute and fun for kids, but it's a bit overpriced at $5 per ticket, even for a one-year-old. Unfortunately, our experience with the train staff really took away from it. The woman taking tickets was extremely rude and didn't speak to us at all -- no hello, no eye contact, no thank you, nothing. It honestly felt like she didn't want to be there or interact with families. I was trying to make it a fun moment for my child by having them hand over the ticket, but they actually got scared and hid behind me. The woman selling the tickets, on the other hand, was very kind and welcoming. The park itself can also get very crowded, and we noticed older kids sometimes take over the younger kids' play areas, which can make it hard for little ones when there's roughhousing or inappropriate language. That's not really the park's fault, but it's something to be aware of if you have small children. Overall, it's definitely worth visiting at least once because it's a beautiful space with tons to do. I personally prefer smaller neighborhood parks for a calmer experience, but Anthem Community Park is great in terms of facilities. The biggest areas for improvement would be crowd management in the play areas and better, more family-friendly staffing for the train.

We've had some bad experiences with wasp infested splash pads lately but this one was not bad at all, I think I saw one flying around. Definitely a good amount of shading here, making it nice for the summer. My son had a lot of fun and this park was super clean and not overly crowded. Would definitely recommend and will come back again,
