The quality of the burgers has been pretty consistent over the years, except for one time (as Sequoia) they ran out of tomatoes. Burgers are the star of the show, although the garlic fries are pretty damned good, too. There are only two problems with Pioneer Burger: first, the place is small. There's outside seating, but if the weather is hot, it's not fun to sit outside. Inside there are just a few tables, and it get stuffy, too. The second problem is that they're slow. It took a little over 30 minutes to get two burgers and an order of garlic fries the last time. They didn't seem overly busy, either, but it seems like they only prep one order at a time. A friend who lives within walking distance says that's been her experience, too. Here's a big plus that is not related to the food. They give local kids jobs. ETA: The bathroom has been clean every time I've used it. And you don't have to beg them for a key/code, either!

We weren't expecting such immediately greeted with a "welcome" and a smile. Cute little bar/restaurant. They have decorated for Halloween with cobwebs & signs...love it! And the burgers were WAY better than I had hoped for! Juicy, giant, flavorful, and creative is how I would describe them. I was so full by the time we were done! They have a beautiful outdoor eating area with good shade options. The menu is surprisingly extensive for such a tiny spot. Burgers, fries, and shakes are all excellent, like "wow, I wish I could get burgers this good when I'm not here" level good. She also started walking away before we had even ordered our drinks. After bringing the food, she never came back to check on our table. When I asked about the bill, I was told that a 20% gratuity had already been added because we were a party of six. I understand that some restaurants have this policy, but the service did not reflect a 20% gratuity. When I asked for a receipt, I was told, "We don't give receipts. Take a picture if you want." Then, after paying by card, the payment slip asked for an additional tip even though gratuity had already been included. I am normally very understanding and not someone who complains easily, but the attitude and lack of service were disappointing. The food was fine, but based on the service, I would not return
