I called on Monday because I had been experiencing gum pain and wanted to be seen. I was told I would be referred to the oral surgeon as in a previous visit I was told I needed my wisdom tooth pulled. She refused to see me after suffering 3 days of pain and no sleep. I called to schedule an appointment with the oral surgeon and they don't even take my insurance. So I made an appointment with the urgent care office and they gave me antibiotics. So I called today to see if she would please squeeze me in as today makes day 7. I was told again she couldn't do anything as she believed it was my wisdom tooth and wouldn't be able to see me. After pleading and having to over talk her to explain that the pain was nowhere near my wisdom tooth she finally decided to schedule me but told me she wouldn't be able to do anything about it. This is unacceptable. I am 8 months pregnant and never thought I would have this experience from a doctor. Doctors have to learn to take black pregnant mothers more serious across the board. It's not just a medical provider issue.

I ended up having gum line issues/bleeding/ and color mismatch from my prior crowns and 3 years after the procedure I ended up back in Dr. Michaelson's office. Once I decided to move forward with my crown revision, he was very honest and straightforward with how I could best achieve the look I wanted, what my future with the crowns looked like, and timeline. They were also up front and transparent with pricing. Even though they are on the higher end price wise, the lab they used did an amazing job to match the color and it has now been over a year and my teeth have held up nicely. I was also very nervous for how long the temporaries needed to be on because of how bad temps have been in the past but these temporaries were not bad at all. For general dental visits: all of my cleanings were awesome/pain free and you could tell that they knew how to be careful with maintaining integrity of any dental work. Only experience that I feel like could be improved upon was X-Ray process. I have never been that uncomfortable from just getting dental images but they also got the most in depth photos I've ever had done so that could be why. Lastly, they always tried to accommodate my schedule and fit me in when they could. Overall, I highly recommend Dr. Michaelson and his team. If I did not move I would still be going for my annual exams and any additional work.

I've never felt upsold to services that were unnecessary or felt pressured to do something. We've had several dental implants, extractions, and other procedures. Even some emergency procedures (on Christmas Eve) where they have gone out of their way to make sure I was getting the best care regardless of insurance coverage. Now... this happened: On the morning of Friday, 10/10, around 10 AM, I received a text and voicemail reminding me of an appointment scheduled for Monday, 10/13 at 8 AM. Apparently, this appointment was set six months ago during my initial visit. I had no recollection of it, and there had been no prior reminders until just then. Unfortunately, due to the extremely short notice, I was unable to attend. I called and left a voicemail to explain. Then, at 6:29 AM on Monday morning, I received a text stating that a $50 fee applies to missed, rescheduled, or canceled appointments with less than 48 business hours' notice. Here's the problem: Their reminder was sent less than 24 business hours before the appointment--and to make matters worse, the office is closed on Fridays, giving me even less of an opportunity to respond during business hours. How is it fair to penalize patients for late cancellations when the reminder system is so flawed? I find it unacceptable to be charged for a missed appointment under these circumstances. Patients deserve timely reminders and fair notice, especially when fees are involved. Oh, but they were very QUICK to send me a bill via Email! I wish I could give ZERO Stars

I was informed in advance that as a new patient they would be taking full x-rays. WELL, my son called me immediately after the appointment, to tell me he was all done and checking out, and scheduling to get SEVEN cavities filled. What, Wait, Rewind!?!?! I told him to stop right there, do not schedule anything, and have those new x-rays emailed to us. So fast forward, his dentist at home squeezed him in when he was able to get home for an evaluation and review of the x- rays they took. His current dentist (who he has seen since his first tooth) had to take new x-rays because the ones provided by Magnolia were sub-par. And as I expected, he did not have even ONE cavity, and his dentist said he teeth looked exactly as his last appointment approximately 9 months ago. And fortunately, not only was his dentist was just happy to report that he had a clean bill of health, but he sent my son on his way without charging him a dime. I really couldn't believe it when my son said SEVEN cavities. That is insane! After I finish writing this review, I will be contacting my insurance company to let them know of the sub-standard service offered at this location by this dentist, and how I really feel like they are taking advantage of patients who are gullible and essentially scam them. I have been going to Dr. Marte's office for about two years now and I have to say it's the BEST experience I've had at the dentist. The two hygienist I've had have been the sweetest to me! First one I had really made me feel so comfortable being there and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. Sadly she ended up leaving and was moved to another hygienist and been with her for over a year now. And just like the first one she always making sure I'm okay and talks me through it. When I arrived for my 8:30am appointment the receptionist told me that they will not be carrying my insurance next year. This would have been good to know when I scheduled my appointment and I would not have proceeded with them. Then, when I get back to the room with the hygienist, I told her that since they aren't going to be on my insurance going forward, I just wanted a cleaning and no x-rays. The dentist finally comes in to talk with me at 9:30am and says that they can try to fit me in later in the day for my cleaning. I promptly told her this wasn't going to work out and left. This practice needs to improve their appointment scheduling process to ensure: 1) patients understand up front if their insurance will be dropped in the near future, and 2) what their appointment includes, so patients are on the same page as the staff.
