This place is a total medical malpractice and negligence lab. These doctors and nurses do not understand any of my medical conditions. I have non epileptic seizures and they do nothing to stop them. Instead thy send me home. The last time I was there I had to AMA because I was getting 0 help, 0 treatment, I didn't even see the doctor. They didn't give me any medicine to stop the seizures. And they think my condition is fake and voluntary. This place is a shit show. read more

We took my toddler here for respiratory distress. She was having a lot of trouble breathing. After checking in we waited for hours. She was even having so much trouble breathing, she vomited all over me. The staff did not notice and did not care. In fact, a family member of a patient that was waiting in the ER was kind enough to help me. When they finally brought us back, they did not provide us with a suitable place to sit. They sat us in folding chairs in a hallway, where we remained for hours. They did not monitor or keep track of my child's breathing. They did not check her vitals. I don't even think they had her hooked up to a monitor. We barely saw anyone there, but we did observe the nurse staff going on and on about what food they were going to order for their break. We were there for about 5 hours with no care, and I told one of the nurses we were going to leave and administer albuterol ourselves at home. After that, the staff seemed to panic a bit and got us a small room and a breathing treatment for our daughter. When the treatment was over, they promptly moved us back to the folding chairs in the hallway. I will never, ever take my child to tri city after that experience. We drove all the way down to Rady's for her last asthma episode, and were treated with utmost respect there. read more

Let's start with Adam in the ER poor bedside matter super creepy, instead of taking care of my mother he was all over the place I would maybe suggest a drug test for this guy. All he cared about or talked about was getting off early. Not taking his last break so he could go home. When he did leave he says finally I can " fucking leave on time". What? Then comes Lori Ann, she needs to be fired. Extremely poor bedside manner my mother is elderly she was rough with my mother and my mother grabbed her arm and she shouted " don't grab my arm" I then stepped around the curtain and asked her to " stop being so rude and rough" she then says you're not a doctor you have no idea. Shut up. Excuse me. No!! Then comes another nurse who was actually competent and ran the tests my mother needed. Dr fife, came in at 2am she was nice but also lied to me. Told me I would get a dr note so I could be with my mother has she was tested came back covid positive. No note was given at discharge as I was promised. Once she was determined Covid positive no mask given to my mother I had one from home. We were moved from emergency to another room with a a curtain. Then moved again because they couldn't get it right that she was Covid positive and needed a room with a door. No mask in the er was ever given to her. Then we get Amanda, she was great!! She needs a raise. Then I left. Went home then we get Francesca, rude telling me I can't come in to see my mother. That's hilarious because I've come in previous time no problem and I'm negative Covid. This nurse blamed me for the nurses being sick with Covid. And I had to call to come see her. That's funny because I tried to do that that morning and the rude charge nurse Christina never called me back. The 2nd day I went in my mother was given for lunch a salad water, oj and that's it she kept saying she was hungry they didn't bother to give her anything. She was in a room with air conditioning blaring on her no fever and she was freezing Francesca never got a blanket I had to ask several times, when going to the nurses station their playing on their phones texting laughing no patient care whatsoever. Finally she is moved to a room after almost 3 days of being there this Francesca nurse almost mixed to medications in an iv again no mask given to her till she got upstairs. I tried to put a mask on her the transporter wouldn't allow me to. The nurse Lisa in Carlsbad pavilion so much nicer. Thank you!! Ordered food for her got her a mask. Excellent bedside manner. She was finally able to come home today. What went south is I don't need a million calls every hour to come get her and she's still sick nasally. People are busy they don't need to be harassed also right when you get home. Literally haven't eaten then home health wants to come out and annoy and call multiple numbers let people come home and relax. And unwind from such a bad hospital visit incompetent hospital and multiple nurses and dr. Worst hospital ever!!! read more

August 5th, 2023, I was taken by ambulance to Tri-City for what they thought might be a stroke. I never did get admitted, and I was left in a small room about the size of a large closet. I was on a very hard and very small bed. I would call out because button to alert someone did not work. they brought me dinner but left on a table out of my reach. Hospital staff seemed to be out of touch with patients. I was in that little gurney/bed the whole night. I was told they were waiting for a bed for me that never came. As it turned out I never did get admitted. It was one of the worst experiences with a medical facility I have ever had. I am eighty-two years old, and my advice is to avoid Tri-City Emergency Medical Group. The local dog pound would give better treatment. If I could give no stars I would still be generous. read more

Monday morning my son and I had to take my husband to the emergency room. We walked in and the Triage Nurse took my husband right away. Took his blood pressure and assess his pain. In no time at all they took him in the back. Doctor came right away. He ordered CT scan on his abdomen area and blood work. We found out he had some stones. They gave him some medicine to ease the pain. I'm very impressed on how fast they were! It wasn't like the old days where you sit for hours end to see a doctor. They have come a long way. The emergency room is also very clean. Which I really like especially when all sick or injured people coming here. I've been here a few times about 6 months ago it took about 8 hours for my son to get seen for a bad cut on his foot. My visit Tuesday was pretty fast. I guess it depends on the severity of of each person that determines how fast you get seen. I took one star off because when the nurse was taking off my IV and all the tape she was so rough ripping my skin and I have a bruise on my arm from it. I had to tell her to stop and let me take it off! The dr that treated me got to the point and explained my procedure in a way that made me understand. I saw patient brought in unconscious & they left him laying on the floor for 6 HOURS in his blood, urine, half-naked & open wounds which they did not clean or bandage. They did not even provide a blanket. He just lay dying there for hours until a family member was notified & brought their own first-aid kit to clean his wounds?! Also, they injected all unconscious patients with a MULTITUDE of unauthorized (by patient or family) shots that had absolutely nothing to do with their condition... SCARY. If you are conscious, NEVER go to Tri-City, they need to be sued, they're more likely to CAUSE YOUR DEATH than save any lives. read more

This is by far the worst hospital I have ever been in and I will never go back. I sent somewhere in the hospital for over 8 hours no water no food nobody coming to see me. A paramedic started my IV. It should be a first aid station for animals. I saw a doctor ball for about 3 minutes but I never saw her after that. Finally went to some nerve since it take my IV out I'm leaving. She says okay. This will become a 5 star review once Stacy is fired- takes mental health time- or goes through a handle with care customer service course. Because my experience from the first nurse to check me in- every nurse and doctor (even others in the ER was amazing this should be a great review all until Stacy decided to randomly attack me. My 2 year old swallowed a foreign object so we had to miss nap for an X-ray to make sure it wasn't stuck somewhere it shouldn't be. I was letting her walk around and run a bit (every nurse was smiling at us- I even asked a couple patients if we were bothering them because our other option is for me to hold her and contain her and have her scream. The doctors were happy to see her move- this was all good signs she was not in the danger we feared. The pleasant giggles and walking about seemed better for most. This woman yelled at me to put a mask on my daughter (just turned two last week) and demanded I sit. I said I'm sorry I wasn't bothering anyone and my options are as stated above. Holding her still seemed not to be the best idea...if you have toddlers you understand. She got security after she was rude to me and no one would give me her name. This is what upset me- if you did nothing wrong why can't I have your name? I asked her again on our way out knowing she wouldn't give it to me so I turned my phone on to record to show her bosses. Turns out that's illegal so it's turned my video off right away. Security again refused to give me her name and gave me a fake number to call and complain. When I called the hospital they said they spoke to security..turns out all the reported was that I video taped her. Why are they all covering for her? Clearly she was having a bad day and decided to take it out on me because the hospital gave me her name right away no problem. I work in customer service which can be very challenging and I can't imagine what goes on in an ER. But treat others respectfully especially when your in a Place where trauma is everywhere and you don't know what other people are going through. Seriously the worst emergency room ever. I denied all of their standard tests because I'm trying to move along in the line I just need an ultrasound and a CAT scan for suspected appendicitis which runs in my family and I have a fever. All they cared about was getting my nose swab for covid and they didn't have any other tests, so I sat there for six and a half hours with no results, a doctor never saw me, they told me to pee in a cup before my ultrasound so the ultrasound was useless and then after 6 and 1/2 hours she comes to give me an IV for the CAT scan. And I'm like okay how much longer is this going to be because I seriously can't sit here anymore I'm in so much pain and I'm miserable and I'm not the type to scream so you need to be taking my word seriously, and then she was like well we're just busy and couldn't guarantee that I would be seen and not just sitting there with a needle in my arm for another 6 hours. The hospital was empty at this time so I'm not understanding why they are not staffing better or referring people out to other hospitals that have actual emergencies. The whole floor was filled with children with RSV and that's where they put me despite not having any respiratory issues. The ineptness is getting people killed I'm sure. Do not come here it is the worst hospital I've ever been to and this is my fourth time here at least every time I wait at least 4 hours but this is insane because I have an actual emergency. Midnight trip to the emergency room in a strange city My husband and I were visiting from out of town and really didn't know the area. He began having severe back spasms (to the point of my stoic guy asking for 911 help.) I scramble to locate the nearest emergency room and found Tri-City. Hoag in Newport is our local hospital so our expectations are pretty high. Tri-City was by contrast a bit alarming. Initially we were dismayed by the worn condition of the crowded waiting room which didn't look very clean or well maintained. However, once we were ushered into the P.A.'s area and then ultimately into a room, we began to experience an amazingly professional, compassionate, efficient and attentive staff. My husband's pain was addressed immediately, blood work and a CT scan performed, and an IV administered. We were both treated with patience, respect and dignity. From the nurses, (Lorilee) P.A.s, technicians and the remarkable Dr. Neil Tomaneng our treatment was first-rate. Don't be swayed by the furnishings, the care here is top-notch. read more

Stay healthy people or you could end up experiencing a place like TRI CITY EMERGENCY ROOM. Very little compassion for people in need because they see so much sickness every day they are desensitized to it. SEVEN hour wait times. Everyone thinks their emergency is worse then the person next to you and it may be but you will wait and you will suffer as the nurses look on. No compassion. No time frames for help. Just sit and suffer is their motto. My suggestion is go to Scripps 14 miles away for faster help. Compassionate nurses and doctors the moment you step thru the ER doors. Wait times can vary from minutes to an hour but you will be seen sooner and by better people who care. read more

This has nothing to do with covid. It is a response to something that happened to me years ago and changed the course of my life for the worst. I developed a pilonidal cyst and it had ruptured really bad. I had no idea what it was and I came to tri city ER. I couldn't walk , and I couldn't sit. They were very rude and sent me to various rooms of the hospital only to sent me to the WRONG address of a wound clinic. It was very painful for me to drive around and walk so I just went home. We called but they were again very rude and didn't offer another address or solution. This cyst was GIANT and painfully rupturing right in my a** and they would not help me. Im going to save you guys the pain and not add a picture but just know it's bad. It has since healed up (although there is still a hole and it can come back anytime) and I don't have medical insurance still I just went on with my life in fact I moved to Italy last year to be with my girlfriend but every day I am terrified it's going to come back. Just had my grandma fall. AGAIN. Nurses were great, case manager and doctors were okay. Now they tell me I need to immediately place her in a home. I pay for 24/7 caregivers. They recommended every place EXCEPT Merrill gardens of oceanside, but I'm going to check them out too because Tri-city isn't the best either...can't take their recommendation either. read more

True it was scary and extremely challenging for everyone, but the E.R. staff was unbelievably kind and supportive. The treatment outcome was perfect. Last Friday I slipped and fell, broke my ankle. I was very worried about going to Tri City because previous experiences with family and a friend were not good. Extreme wait times mainly. So, I don't know what they've done but my recent experience was amazing. All staff made me feel well taken care of. The doctors were terrific and wait times were minimal. I felt they moved me right through with xrays, pain med, insurance and diagnoses with treatment. Wonderful group of caring people! read more

Waited 12 plus hours in the ER to be taken off the triage list. My husband had to flip out to get me back on to the list. Took me back to the room. The EMT manipulated my hand til I was screaming in pain & the doctor came in to ask what was going on. Told the EMT to let me take my bandages off & don't force pain due to crush injury. All in all I was there to waste my time & have more pain inflicted on my injured hand /wrist. read more

The ER medical care is excellent. However, the intake staff are understaffed, rude, information is not forthcoming, and you need to be prepared to wait for hours even when they are not crowded. The first visit was for my 87yo mother's heart attack. We had to wait outside. No information was provided unless we followed up every hour. Her admission into an ER bed took hours. Assignment of a bed in the hospital didn't take place until the next day. The second visit: My mother had a blood pressure spike and started bleeding from her eyes. The ER intake staff were slow and unconcerned. We were standing off to the side, silently waiting our turn to be seen after checking in, but OTHER people waiting in line to check in were horrified and grumbling about how the staff weren't taking MY mother's case seriously and taking her in immediately. When a male nurse came out and saw the blood, he gave my mom a tissue to mop her eye. When I said quietly, "there's so much blood...", he barked, "SIR! Try to be patient!" and walked back in. It was several hours before my mother was seen. Nothing I said was aggressive against that nurse and I consider his attack unprovoked, inappropriate, and unprofessional. Perhaps he was overworked though I counted only 4 people waiting in the lobby. But holding old people outside, bleeding, and then yelling at them is unacceptable. Tri-City ER is broken. read more

SUING TRI-CITY MED CTR on August 2 @ 1030AM Vista Court for disabled elderly abuse - misdiagnosing fractured back for "INTOXICATION"..BEGGED to lay down - ignored for over 5 hours in horrendous pain - Due to the obvious ineptness of the ER staff who failed to properly examine me for serious back injuries which I begged to be given some type of pain medication and to lay down. Instead, I was pushed into a wheelchair, blood pressure etc. taken (NORMAL) and then left in ER for over 5 hours, due to the misconduct of the EMT's, misdiagnosis which included I was "intoxicated". ER never tried to properly diagnosis me and felt I was acting out. As my record shows, I broke my back. Further my toxic-screen were ZERO for any drugs and/or alcohol. I am a 63 yr. old disabled girl on SSDI due to PDST - which adversely affects my emotional and mental state. The extreme pain I had to endure, along with becoming emotionally traumatized was neglectful. This failure and breach of the standard medical care is solely the causation of my Demand Letter. All of the incidents occurring could have been avoided.Breaking your back is a potentially life-threatening to include but not limited to being paralyzed and/or surgery The ER staff's routine examination, per Tri-City procedures, failed to take any action to evaluate, diagnose, and treat my spine. Other physicians when faced with this similar complication are able to promptly identify there is a serious potential "back problem", failing to authorize necessary action to try and alleviate my pain, instead of just leaving me alone to suffer is inexcusable. My family and I have been here in total 4 times. Once for vomiting blood, twice for migraine and twice for my son who had the stomach flu and couldn't stop vomiting. The shortest weve ever waited was 2 hrs, the longest we waited was 7hrs and they told us itd be another 2-3hrs so we left to Scripps in Encinitas where we were seen with 30min. And THERE the longest weve ever waited was maybe an hour and we were treated with such great bedside manner. TRI-CITY has the worst bedside manner. And currently my mother was taken in ambulance and shes been waiting for a room for over 45min. read more

This ER doesn't even deserve one star. The WORST experience I've EVER HAD! I walked into an empty ER at 6am in major pain from a spasm in my scapula, I'm a massage therapist and injured myself working in a client. The staff treated me like I was an object, cold, ZERO EMPATHY. A very pale man walked up to me and said; "did you get your EKG yet?" He didn't introduce himself or call me by name. I said; "what?, I'm here for a shoulder muscle spasm". He said; "you need one and your getting one". I said; "you haven't even looked at my shoulder, and I don't have arm pain, I injured myself, and who are you? I don't even know your name!" (Btw, I'm not overweight or unhealthy either, so a EKG? Crazy) he then very condescending said in a shape tone; "let's start over, my name is Joe and I'm the doctor, I'm ordering an EKG and will be back out to get you". He then turned to walk away and I said; "excuse me aren't you going to look at my shoulder?", he ignored me and kept walking away. At that moment I stood up, looked at the staff and said; "I'm in shock, there is no way that anyone here is going to touch me. I then drove 10 miles, to Scripps ER in Encinitas and received the care that needed. read more
