I'm so incredibly that I found Dr. C and her office. Seriously, so thankful! This is my first visit and I've already learned so much about my eyes than all the other doctors Ive been to before combined. She was the first to tell me that I qualify for medically necessary contacts since I have high Anisometropia. Never in my life has any other doctor tell me this! i wish i could have gone to her earlier! Also I told Dr. C I had dry eyes and she was also the first to tell me that I have oily eyelids, causing me to have dry eyes. I have been using prescription eye drops for years! I wish someone told me about the root of the problem instead of just putting me on prescription eyedrops. Brandon and Jodie were both super nice and helpful on my first visit! Just want to start off by saying that this is the best eye exam I've ever experienced, went home with a fabulous pair of glasses picked out by Teresa, she definitely knows her clients! I was in need of new glasses and was recommended to to go Tri-City Optometry. I had a great experience! As someone who has never worn glasses before, I felt a little anxious on how it would go. During my visit I was helped by Theresa, Brandon, and Dr.Young. They answered all of my questions and made my visit as stress free as possible. The office was also very clean. There is a hand sanitizer station, as well as multiple bottles around the office, a temperature check, and the entire staff is wearing gloves. I felt very safe during my visit. But I wanted to write a review specifically about my recent customer service experience while setting up an appointment. The tri-city optometry website allows you to make an appointment online, which is a feature EVERYONE should be using. So convenient, don't need to wait till your coffee break to call the doctors office.. Unfortunately the system had a hard time identifying me as a return patient, so I gave the office a quick call. Major thanks to Will who picked up my phone call 5 minutes before closing, helped me confirm my insurance information, and officially booked our family's long overdue appointments. My wife and I visited today at Tri - City Optometry for new eye glasses after cataract surgery and what a fantastic experience we had. We were greeted with a big smile by Dr. Shital Chetwani and we're introduced to the manager Theresa Garcia. We were thoroughly explained about types of different lenses available and how they are rated. They carry only Zeiss Lenses which are the best lenses in the World. For everyone at the Tri City, customer comes first and their need. Their shop and eye exam facility are state of the art. I have visited many Optometry places, but none comes even close to Tri City. We had heard a lot of great things about them and today we experienced it. Amazing doctor, amazing staff, excellent products and superb customer service. Excellent experience. I go back in two weeks to pick up my glasses. I went into Tri-City Optometry on 1/18/2021 for my first eye exam since 2015. I met with Theresa G. upon arrival. Theresa checked me in and made sure all my VSP insurance was up to date. Brandon took me back to the various machines to get tested. There were several tests, one blew air into my eyes to pressure, I think. One test took photos of my eyes to be reviewed by the doctor. One test had me push a button whenever I saw lines appear on the screen. One test was a 3D test with a special book and glasses. Super easy experience. Dr. Young met with me to do the full eye exam and go over my results. I found out I have an astigmatism, and after 41 years of life, I do need corrective lenses for night time driving. Technically the doctor says I can pass the DMV driving vision test without lenses, but she recommends I wear them while driving, especially at night. I also found out I have a mild case of lazy eye. If she tested me with just one tiny letter to read, I got it correct 100% of the time. However, once several letters where presented at the same size, my eyes made me work harder to see what the letters were. After Dr. Young explained everything and gave me my prescription. I went back to meet with Theresa G. Theresa let me try on all the frames I liked. I then found a pair I was happy with. Theresa measured all the things she needed to and explained all of what was covered with my insurance. I will be back once my frames and prescription are complete. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. I have been going to Tri City Optometry for several years, and now all my friends go there, too because of their great service and warm and friendly staff. Dr. C always asks me about how my life is going, grandsons, etc. This year, Jodie had already picked out the frames she thought I would look best in, and she was absolutely right! I also have never been comfortable in contact lenses, but every year Dr. C lets me have a trial of the "latest and greatest" and this year, the ones she gave me were as close to comfortable that I have ever had. My friend Caroline and I like to play a scary version of what-if. For example, "What if the plane I'm flying to Hawaii is hijacked and crashes into a deserted island. How long until my last pair of contacts shrivels up leaving me stranded, incapable of seeing rescue boats, unable to gather food or avoid falling into the shark infested waters never to get my butt off that island?!?!?!?" Ok, you get the grisly point. After Caroline sufficiently freaked me out from her Lost scenario I decided it was time to start looking into Lasik. Hopefully in the event of this crash I could summon my inner Professor and be able to see the difference between Mary Ann and Ginger - without contacts. A friend recommended I chat with Dr. Chatwani about Lasik. Dr. C spent a long time patiently explaining my options and enduring my nerdy and nervous questions about having my eyes lasered up. Dr. C was extremely knowledgeable, easygoing and helpful. While I'm probably going to have my procedure and follow-up care performed in San Francisco, I would definitely use Dr. Chatwani as my primary optometrist if I lived in the East Bay. read more

Let just say, Dr. Chatwani herself is great - no issues there. She's kind, professional and efficient. But year after year, I find myself chasing after appointments, following up and leaving message after message with ridiculous lack of follow up. I've even been hung up on a few times. I'd like to think it's been on accident, but the lack of professionalism is unacceptable. And this is over the last 5 years....never mind not ever being invited to trunk shows (despite my friends I've referred to them being invited) and again, no return phone calls. This place is fantastic! Best experience I've ever had getting my eyes checked. I saw Dr. Kwan and she's so very thorough and really cared about me and my eyes/medical history. I brought my baby (who was fussy) and they put on a movie for her to keep her calm while waiting with my husband. Picking out glasses is always overwhelming.. but Jody made it a breeze. I love this optometrist so much!!! I have always jumped around from place to place to get my eye glasses prescription but I will no longer be doing that. This is going to be my go-to from now on. The place was so clean and felt safe because of their covid protocols. The Dr I saw was soooo patient and explained everything so thoroughly. I really felt like she cared about my vision problems. When I went back in on a different day to pick out my glasses and she saw me in the waiting area she came to ask me if the lenses she had switched me too had worked and when I gave her my review she was so quick to try out another solution which ended up working perfectly. I enjoy my visit every time and actually look forward to my check-ups. I was yelping to look for an optometrist and I saw Tri-city Optometry with the highest rating. I've read the reviews and and looked where is it located. Geez! It's just 0.19 mile from our house! Then I've realized that it is the optometry clinic beside the grocery store that I always go to. Anyway, my 3-year old son and I came for our appointment. They asked me to fill-up papers asking for few info about myself and my son. After that, they asked me to sit down and use the touch screen computer to answer questions like what is the purpose of my appointment , health problems, etc. Thank God, while I was doing that, the 2 ladies (staff) were so nice and helpful to me to take care of my son. They let him sit at one of the desk and let him watch Sponge Bob on Youtube. I had 3 eye exams, the last one was with Dr. Shital Chatwani. My son had 2 because the other one was not yet appropriate for his age. Generally, our experience was so great! Dr. Chatwani as well as her staff were so patient with my son. They're very nice, friendly, and helped me choose a frame that looks good on me. Their clinic is clean, they use high tech equipment, and they have a lot of frames to choose from. I've been with this optometry business with the same employees before it was Tri-City since I was about 4 years old and I must say 22 years later and this place still impresses me and they go above and beyond to help me find frames that suit me well when it comes to what I like and what will get covered when it comes to my insurance. They calculate everything and make sure I don't have extra charges and make sure to break it down for me. They also made sure to give me what I want when it came to the sunglasses I wanted they even ordered it off the actual ray bans glasses website to make sure I got what I wanted, I would recommend this place to anybody looking for great glasses, contact lenses, and a great eye exam that goes by like a breeze. 10/10 read more

We recently moved to Union City and thought of switching our optometrist to someone closer to home. I read a lot of good reviews and decided to try Tri-City Optometry. The receptionist and team were friendly, but their selection of frames does not have a lot of variety. Dr. Chatwani recommended my husband visit an Ophthalmologist - he had a few questions about it and her tone and response were quite condescending trying to tell us there is a difference between an optometrist and an ophthalmologist. We decided to not get lenses / frames from here, lost some of the bonus you get for getting the test & frames from the same place but still we were happy to go back to our old optometrist - worth the drive. read more

So just went to the optometrist and found out my left eye is near sighted and right is far sighted. Optometrist said for me to use one contact (to see far away) in my right eye and nothing in my left to see things close, then when I'm running I can see far away and still look at my watch for time etc reading)...crazy thing is I tried it and it works (my eyes compensate for each other). Too funny. I got 3 pairs of glasses and contacts also. They had a Maui Jims rep come in and show me a a few new glasses (I guess they had her come in especially for me). SO glad I made an appointment here. After suffering from a bad case of dry eye from Bells Palsy, Dr Chatwani was able to fit me for scleral lenses. This is the first time since being diagnosed with Bells Palsy that I was able to wear contacts, and this has helped my confidence immensely. She also taught me different ways to manage my dry eyes. I went to this place for the last few years We (me and my family) were happy with the other optometrist in this office, but last year Dr. Chatwani checked our eyes and we were not happy with that visit at all... First she is not professional at all, second when her assistant was helping us with the frame, She told her that she spent too much time with us and "this is not all day event" we needed to order 4 pairs of glasses (me and my kids) she was verrrrry rude and she gave us a look that we get those glasses for free. Shame!! Her office staff are very nice and I feel very sorry for them to work with Dr. Chateani!! We will not go there AGAIN! Now I am going to Kaiser and they are very professional. I was a patient of Tri City Optometry from 2009-2012. I left my job in the area and found optometry service in San Mateo where I live. I liked the office and found them friendly, caring and professional. However, I have two concerns I recently learned of that I feel important to voice to other consumers: 1. My eyes were never dilated as part of the annual eye exams I had at Tri City Optometry. Instead a high-tech retinal laser mapping picture was taken of the eyes. Dr. Chatwani even discovered some "drusen" in my right eye using the procedure and advised how important it is to monitor the drusen annually. But I recently learned the retinal scan is limited and the whole retina cannot be viewed using the procedure. The optometrist I see now highly recommended eye dilation to see the whole retina adequately since I told her I had not had my eyes dilated in 25+ years. She also recommended I obtain from Tri Cit Optometry the retina images of my eyes so she could compare the drusen on my right eye documented from 2009-2012 with my recent eye exam which leads to the second concern. 2. Tri City Optometry did not have the images of my retina taken between 2009-2012. Not only is that a violation of California law (medical providers must keep records for no less than 7 years), but now I don't have a record whether the drusen deposits of my right eye have progressed since 2009 or not. read more

Short story: It's been 2 months, where are my glasses??!! Long story: I came here many years ago and completely forgot about this place until I got an email inviting me to a special event with food and designer glasses vendors. The event was very good, I got plenty of Mexican food, sangria and desserts. The vendor I talked to was great, and helped me find a pair of glasses that fit my face. I ended up ordering a pair. I was told that I would get my glasses within 2 weeks. However, 2 weeks passed and I didn't get a call. Since it was over Christmas and New Years, I assumed people would be off, or the store was closed, and it would take longer. After a month from the date I ordered them, I never got a call. I finally called them on a Saturday. They said they would check and call me back on Tuesday because they were closed on Mondays and their vendor was not opened on Saturdays. Tuesday came, still no call. I called and left a message. Thursday came, no one called me back. I called again and someone asked if I could be placed on hold. I waited about 5 minutes, hung up and called back. I guess they forgot I was on hold. This time I spoke with Goolie (sp?) said she my frames were back ordered. I mean, to me, it would have been nice it they actually called me back and let me know. She said she was going to see if she could get me the demo pair and it would be ready in 5 business days. Goolie (sp?) apologized and said she would give me $25.00 off for the inconvenience. 5 business days passed and no one called me. Again, I had to call . Goolie apologized and told me that the distributor making my lens was behind and that she would give me $50.00 off instead. She was able to get them to rush my order so I was able to pick it up in a few days. The day I went in to get my glasses, Goolie did give me the $50.00 off, but I noticed my frames were kind of scratched. For spending almost $400.00 and waiting for over a month, I expected new frames, not used ones with scratches. Goolie apologized and said she was going to order me new frames and that I could use the current ones until they get new frames. Another 2 weeks later, again, no one followed up with me. So I called on a Saturday to see what was going on and Goolie told me she was going to check on it Tuesday since their vendor isn't opened on Saturdays and they're closed on Mondays. (Note: I usually call Saturdays/after work hours because I am very busy at work). Overall, their customer service is only good in person, terrible when you're not in the store. No one ever follows up to let me know where my glasses are. I have spent numerous times calling them for update on my glasses. Honestly, if I knew it would take over 2 months to get a pair of glasses, I wouldn't come here. I have never been to an optometry where my glasses have taken more than 2 weeks. Honestly, I would have just told them to refund me, but because I know how it would be a bigger hassle to deal with insurance to get my credit back, I'll just keep them. Come here if you're willing to wait years for your glasses, other than that, don't bother. read more

Dr. Chatwani, if you're reading this......I love you, you ARE THE BEST!! Her practice is beyond anything that I have ever experienced in a eye care environment EVER. She is warm, professional, gentle, and very knowledgeable in her game. I had a bit of blurry vision in my right eye that I had been experiencing for a couple of months and I had an appointment set up with a cornea specialist. However, last week, while talking to a very important account and looking at my computer screen I all of a sudden couldn't really see the screen and I started silently screaming in my head. Called the hubby in a panic and he suggested that maybe I should see a local doctor to ease my fears until my appointment with the specialist. Thanks to the great reviews and info from the previous yelpers, I called the office up and they were so accommodating on getting me in asap. Went in for my appointment and found out that I had a bit of a poor reaction to an OTC eye cream I had used several months ago and she hooked me up with some eye drops, gave me a eye exam, lots of good advice, and most importantly, assurance that I was not going blind or had caused permanent damage. Even though my problem is clearing up, I, under her strong suggestion, have kept my appointment with the cornea specialist, you know, just in case. :) The office staff is super friendly and when I went in for a follow up, remembered my name and asked how I was doing. I'm also in the process of moving, and when I was in there for an appointment yesterday, waiting for her, she came out of the exam room and was like oh hey Sue Ann how are you? How's the move going? LOVE attention and service like that from doctors; since it's so few and far between. Dr. Chatwani is so good at what she does my husband is 52! There is no perfect business sometimes staff will make mistakes but what I can say is this Dr. knows what she is doing when my husband came to her about 2006 she saw something in his eyes and sent him to a specialist immediately and turns out he had lymphoma but because she was thorough it was treated early and he is now 52...I can never say enough about this professional caring Dr. So remember you are not perfect either and her staff is very nice however sometimes things can happen not on purpose but at the end of the day who doesn't want an eye Dr. that is so good she might catch something that could save your life....or the one you love...I will never use anyone else as long as I have a choice... I am thankful for Dr. Chatwani and if I could give her 10 stars I would. Trust her I do!! read more
