I've been taking the metro for a little over 6 years. Previously I'd go to the Okeechobee station…read morebut switched to the Palmetto station because of a scary incident I experienced and an acquaintance that was almost beat to death at Okeechobee station (no clue where the security guards were, probably sleeping as usual). Palmetto has an open parking lot which makes it easier to see what's going around. The security guards are attentive and they have one typically driving around the parking lot with a golf cart. If you need assistance or have questions for the most part they attempt to help you. The bathroom at this station needs so serious remodeling....I hate going in there because no matter how much they try to clean it it doesn't look like it (oh and don't expect paper towels to dry your hands because it seems that's non-existing in this place). Would love it if the metro left on scheduled time but a lot of times that doesn't happen thanks to every other metro being out of service (probably because they're so old). I do enjoy not having to deal with traffic so this is the best way to head to Downtown and nearby areas. Compared to other stations in the north this is probably one of the safest ones. Most people that ride from this station are headed to work, courts, or hospitals.

Positives: -There are security guards at all times. They…read morealso help with purchasing tickets at the kiosk if you're not sure how to do it. -The conductors are friendly and will answer whatever questions you have about the trains. -Trains usually depart at the same time. Very few times have I experienced trains running late. -Location is perfect, as it's only 10 min away from my house and very easy to get to, once you get past the Okeechobee traffic. Although there is a cargo train that runs through interrupting the street to get to the station. -There are hand sanitizing stations Negative: I am absolutely DISGUSTED that there is ONE restroom shared for both men and women. It wasn't like this about 6 months ago! They sealed off the ladies bathroom and made it so only staff could use it. So now the mens is the one that's open to both sexes. First of all, the very thought of using a restroom stall while a man is standing in there at the same time taking a leak at the urinal is atrocious to me. Secondly, it is so damn dangerous that it just drives me NUTS how they could let this happen!!!! Any woman can be raped and no one would even notice!!! Miami-Dade Transit needs to take action and segregate the restrooms once again because this is an active danger to women!!!

I have no complaints about the tri-rail service itself. Buying a ticket is easy. I got it a paper…read moreone-way ticket in less than a minute at a kiosk machine. The train came and left on time. And I got to my destination of Sheridan Street at the time the schedule said. This station though is located right next to a waste facility. The entire station reeks of garbage. I should've taken my Lyft up to the Metrorail Transfer Station if I had known about this before... Do NOT use the vending machines here. First I tried using the snack machine. I inserted my coins first and the bill slot did not work, so I pushed coin return and it did not return my change to me. Then I tried using the Pepsi machine. Every time I put in my dollar and tried to make a selection, it spit my dollar back out. And finally, I tried using the Coca Cola machine. The machine took my bills, but I think something was wrong with the number pad. When I pressed coin return, the screen showed my money being returned in 25 cent increments, but no coins came out. Oh and conveniently, the snack machine had a plastic covering the QR code for refunds. My phone wasn't able to scan it. My phone was able to scan the Coca Cola machine's QR code for a refund. But the machine number was covered by a white strip of tape... At least the Pepsi machine didn't take my money.

It's a rail station in South Florida ... so my criticims are based in the fact that its in an urban…read morecontext relative to the America the beige surburban hellscape that is the rest of the state; The terminal is sufficiently connected to the bus lines so as to build upon the locational efficiencies crossing a roadway and makes use of vehicular parking that doesn't make that the dominating element of the site... the station however does disconnected from the more walkable areas of the area and relies more on automotive transporation for the "last mile" travel. The City and County do a good job of having connections, but a walk anywhere? I don't know... As to the actual station, there are not enough benches... or trash cans. There's also so much anxiety if the train is coming, if you're on the right platform, and the trains/buses don't run late enough. But it's such a net positive to have bus and rail options integrated with each other in this urban-surburban-car-dominated-megaopolis. I support it fully and want MORE investment in stations like this to make it better."
