Four Years ago Serge was refereed to me. So I had him install 3 mini- split systems. All went well, Serge was very professional and accommodating. Just this past month 2 of the split-systems stopped working, Serge, came over and found that the 220 Electrical line that he put in shorted out. He said he would call the electrician that did the job. ($70.00 service call fee). I did not hear from Serge or the electrician. So I called a licensed electrician that I used in the past. My electrician found the short and told me it was do to the 220 line not being installed to code and that the breakers were also not the proper breakers. So it cost me to have the electrical line completely redone at my expense, which should have been done right the first time. Moral of the story, make sure that your contractor uses license professionals. read more

I highly recommend Tri State Air for an split unit AC installation. We have central AC in the house, but our bedroom was really warm because of the large windows facing the sun. So it was either run the AC in the whole house (thermostat is downstairs so have to set that at fridge mode) or have a separate unit for the bedroom alone. Opted for the latter. I had multiple AC contractors come in and a number of them recommended a 220V unit, forcing me to hire an electrician and run separate electricity to the roof (quotes for this alone was $2000-$2,500. Unit price would double that). Than Serge came by. He suggested the largest 110V capacity AC unit and was able to do the installation a few days later (on 4th of July morning even!). His team was in and out in 4 hours and we have been enjoying our AC unit ever since. My findings: * Serge is very straight forward and knows his stuff. * He gives a very good price on the job and sticks to it. (price was below the other installers who recommended 220V units). Some installers even tried BSing me with the type of 110V units that were or were not available (all proven wrong when I did some research) trying me to go for the 220V unit (likely they don't sell 110V units) * His team works swift and clean. They remove all debris and packaging materials. * 10 year warranty on the AC and installation * He registers the product for you with the company. * Three months in (and daily use) and we must say that Serge didn't under deliver or over promise. This was exactly what we were looking for at a very reasonable price. * Very sleek modern looking unit with remote control and electronic thermostat. Highly recommended. Especially because Serge can work with the highest capacity available 110V units which you can have installed on a regular US electric circuit. No need for extra electrician, separate fuses, extra lines etc. Saved me a bundle and made the bedroom enjoyable. read more

I never take the time to write reviews, even when a service deserves a good one. I'm so incredibly dissatisfied by this company, I've decided to sit down and share my experience. I decide to go with Serge and his company because he did a property of an aquaintance of mine. His prices were competitive, a bit higher than others I had inquired with, but his sales pitch and straight forward manner sold me. Fast forward to the installation which was a complete state of hell. He ran the pipes down the front of the building with the water exhausts dripping onto the sidewalk. He told me to put a plant underneath. Mind you, none of this was explained when he sold me his product, Fujitsu by the way, which is clearly cheaper than the Mitsubisu units others had pitched to me. He told me that this ugly and awkward installation could be corrected once the construction next door ended and the scaffolding was removed. So 3 months later I called him when the scaffolding was removed and I was about to replace my siding. He did not return my calls. Finally when I got him on the phone, he said there was no way to correct the way he did the piping. Mind you, I told him, I was more than willing to pay to correct the situation but there was no way I was going to leave a gutter-type thing running down the middle of my building. He never returned my calls. I ended up hiring another company that installs the same kind of units to reroute his ugly and shoddy installation. It cost me an additional $2k. I seriously question the legitimacy of the previous reviewers. I can agree that he is quick to move on the installation, but that was about it. If I can figure out a way to add the photo to this review, or if anyone can figure out a way to contact me via Yelp, I'm happy to speak with you. I am very picky customer and I do a lot of construction projects. He is very knowledgeable and professional. Due my pregnancy I didn't have a lot of time to pick a day. Sergey and his crew install all units the next day after I offered a job and he came back later to check pressure and connect all electric lines. He also helped to register product and show how is everything works. His price is very reasonable as well. He asked for $500 deposit that I didn't have any problem to give to start a job. I had another contractor scheduled to do my work, who in the last minute tried to mark up the price. So I was a bit disgruntled about that, that's when I looked up contractors on Angie's list to do a HVAC installation on a short notice on units I already had, due to this non ideal sitatuon. I called Sergey Friday, he came by on a Saturday, reviewed the place and gave me a quote right there, he sent me a contract Sunday, came back Thursday with his team to do the installation in one day. What I liked: - Sergey came across as very professional and friendly, gave some very good advice on the installation (i.e. with respect to pumps) that I didn't get from other contractors I had spoken to. He was very transparent on the terms of the contract and explained anything that wasn't clear. - The turnaround was exceptionally quick, especially doing the install in a single day for a Tri Zone system, was faster than what I heard from others I had spoken to. - The price was reasonable compared to others quotes - What I particularly like is that the installation was done aesthetically well. By that I mean that for example drain, power and heatpump connection was run through the wall on the back of the unit, meaning there were no visible connections, given I have brick walls this is very neatly looking. Worth Noting: Sergey asked me to make a 500 USD down payment on the day he looked at the unit..Given the short notice of my project (and since I knew what a good price range was) that seemed reasonable to me. I had talked to 2 other contractors prior and the price Serge quoted me for the furance and labor was cheaper and faster than the other contractors. Serge (owner of Tri State) came to us last Fall, after we had had 2 disastrous encounters with people from other companies try to get our bedroom unit to work properly... He spent an lot of time asking questions and examining the installation. Then he quoted a VERY fair price to re-wire the unit, but cautioned that it might not be the answer to our problems, as the unit, in his estimation, was too small to properly cool the room. The work was in a timely manner, leaving no materials for us to dispose of. He came back a few days later and we realized that he was proved right, and suggested that we move this small unit to a smaller room and get a larger unit for the bedroom. He did not charge for the initial and last service call, although we offered. Since we were leaving for the winter, we agreed to complete the work in the spring. The new unit works beautifully, with no additional damage to our interior wall and the outside work has covered hoses that look great. Again, no debris was left behind. Serge has proved to be a trustworthy, knowledgeable resource with a soft-spoken manner that is both reassuring and professional.
