As a new patient, I'm pleased so far. Everyone has been extremely nice and welcoming. They are finishing a remodel and it is looking great. Scheduling has been easy and so has medication refills. I needed a place to euthanize my nine year old cat with medical issues. A trusted neighbor suggested this practice. I was put on a waiting list on Friday and on Saturday they were able to accomodate me. The entire staff of reception, vet techs and Dr. Barnhorst could not have been any nicer and more respectful. I had taken this cat twice to my regular vet and I got the distinct feeling over the phone that they would want to run diagnoatic tests prior to agreeing to euthanize my cat. The only thing that Tri State required was vaccination records. Dr. Barnhorst made the offer to let my cat live outside on her farm. It was a generous offer but I declined it since the cat had significant urination issues, had a recent case of digestive upset and had vomited yesterday, The cat lived inside all his life and I was looking to end his pain because he was a very stressed out kitty as of late waking me at 4:00 a.m. to eat. They did not make me fill out tons of paperwork which was very appreciated. In advance I made the decision to take the kitty home with me for burial. Having heard the cost for group cremation, I thought their pricing was very fair in compare to the crematorium quote I had received from a facility in Milford, PA. In the end we opted for home burial. The entire process was the least stressful I have seen. The cat received a sedative injection. When he was all relaxed she shaved a spot on his leg and administered the euthansia fluid into a vein in his leg. I am glad they did not need to use a catheter because that always stresses the pet out. They wanted to give me a cardboard box to take my kitty home but I declined since it was easier to put him in the bag I brought, then put him in the carrier and bring him home for burial. If my other three cats need veterinary care, I will definitley bring them back to this practice. read more

Costs! They do less medicine n more sales pitches. They quickly get u in n out n have no concerns for the owners emotional or financial concerns. We are pet owners --many taking these animals in from shelters or rescue sites. N many can barely pay for their own medical needs n get pillaged at the vet. N now charge u to make an appt. ..Thieves doesn't say enough. They tell u about products all needed a rx of course. Not mentioning the costs! $50 for chews for the dogs teeth...could pay a 10 year to clean my dogs teeth cheaper. N making u feel badly if u don't purchase these products. Take urine n blood samples but u need to follow up. Seemed to have a tremendous staff --shouldn't the call? Even if it's negative call or post online. Seems to be racking in the dough w the new digs but web site should have all transactions on records but doesn't . Update the access page. Only have record of if I keep the print out . I don't understand why this beautiful, humane clinic only has 2 1/2 stars because the staff went above & beyond their call of duty. The staff are so kind, caring, compassionate & courteous. A lady took my mom, Chase (our cat) and myself into the room and let us have as much time as we needed with our beautiful boy before we said "farewell." They didn't hurry us up, or anything. The receptionist was lovely, Kristin, then the vet tech (I can't remember her name) because I was of course upset over having to euthanize my beloved fur baby of 12 years. The veterinarian was lovely as well. She & the vet tech described what was going to take place and they made our pet feel comfortable & us (my mom & myself.) After the procedure they put our boy in a box in an adorable curled up position. Oh, my goodness, these people are so kind & gentle. They weren't money hungry like Milford Veterinary Clinic/Hospital and they were just incredible. Thank you for helping us to see our fur baby over rainbow bridge. I highly recommend this veterinarian clinic and I rarely give 5 stars so you know it's outstanding when I give 5 stars I wish I could give more! We have two other pets so we know where to go in the future. read more

They are good. But when I go I try to get Christine Barnhorst or the other gal - as they both speak english. It is very important when you are bringing your pet into the vets that they speak english so you can understand what they are saying to you. I have been going to Tri- state vet for 7 years, I have seen multiple doctors over the years and never once been let down. They have always shown the upmost respect and knowledge when it comes to my dogs. From small to X-Large. Dr Hallam has been my go to for the last few years and has treated my dogs like her own. From routine apts to medical emergencies they have always been there for me. The part that always makes me feel the most comfortable is the fact that if they truly cannot help your dog they will refer you to another clinic that can, that speaks volumes to a fellow medical professional. My pitbull rescue had severe skin allergies not only did Dr. Hallam treat him emergently to quickly reduce his allergic reaction but she always got in contact with her dermatologist go to and set up phone consults to get a permanent fix for my boy. I'm pretty sure they killed my cat. She and all my other cats had gotten ill while I was out of state and my dad brought her in because she seemed to be doing the worst. She was not anywhere near death, she was lethargic but still really alert. 30 minutes after bringing her in they called us to tell us she had died. There's no way she was that on the verge of death. Separately I called for an estimate to see how much it would be to get my female cat spayed and they couldn't even give me a base estimate. There should always be a base. Means their prices are probably based on nothing. Do not go here if you want your pet to live. read more

Unfortunately one vet there (there are so many) was not helpful. My cat should have had surgery to her ears and instead they placed a tube. When the cat's ears did not heal right, she blamed me for not administering steroid. What a failure and on top of that, they demanded payment. Do not use. read more

I really like that this veterinary practice takes care of so much right there in-house. There are some other decent vets in the area but they have to refer you someplace else for an unltra-sound or for certain surgeries, or they have to send out the simplest thing like a heartworm.lyme test. Or to a pharmacy to fill every prescription. Tri State can take care of almost everything I've ever needed for my dogs right there. This saves me money and time and aggravation. I've rescued some pretty needy dogs over the years. Tri state really came through for me over and over again with speedy diagnosis, and lots of support. I have no idea what I would do without Tristate taking care of my babies. read more

This vet has completely let me down. The way they treated my dog during her last checkup was deplorable. She is 30 pounds and decided that they were going to muzzle her, and then have 3 people hold her down. She shook for 4 days, she wouldn't even let me pet her. And to think a since man usually cuts her nails with ease. This is not something I would let my pet ever experience again. Why would anyone think that was okay, she was showing no aggression towards them and they decided to do this. My dog cannot defend herself, so I am doing it for her. This is more than uncalled for. Terrible service. They have made her wait in a room before because dogs were barking at her too. read more

Disappointing Experience- Our cat was diagnosed with a urinary blockage by Tri-State- the vet cleared the obstruction but thought the cat should be watched overnight for his "electrolytes" to be monitored.. Since they did not have overnight facilities, they sent us to an emergency animal center in middletown- they also sent the bloodwork. When we got to the center, the vet told us that our cat was in a life threatening situation, the bloodwork indicated a serious potassium problem and tri-state had incorrectly removed the catheter (which had to be reinserted)- our cat stayed there for 3 days of intensive care. Tri-State had given us no indication of the seriousness of the problem which we must attribute to their mis-diagnosis or their lack of knowledge of the proper treatment for this condition. We wrote to Tri-State advising them of this matter and never received a reply. read more
