We needed shared fence built because the posts on the existing had cracked. We called for an estimate and the following day Mario was out to give us a quote. He was professional and personable. He took the time to speak with our neighbors and explained our options. We agreed on using steel posts. Mario made what could have been awkward into a fun amicable agreement. The crew arrived on time and the tear down and new fence were done by 2:30. They are quick and accurate, building the fence with precision. It looks magnificent! This review is long overdue. It has been a year since Horacio did a wonderful and professional job installing our backyard landscaping. He was responsive and patient, the installation was done in a professional and timely manner, and his quotes were very fair and transparent, particularly for the Bay Area. Isn't it nice to have an itemized quote so you actually know what you are paying for? ;) The entire project (dirt to dry landscaping, grass, trees, raised planter boxes w/ irrigation, columns w/ stonework, and a dry creek around a drainage system) took about a month to install. We live in a new development and essentially all of our neighbors had horror stories of bad contractors taking 6-12 months to finish basic landscaping projects, over-charging (surcharging) when 'issues' arose, doing poor quality work, etc. For this reason we feel blessed to have found such a professional, hard working and honest person like Horacio. I would love to give him an extra bonus star (6 stars!) for his tremendous follow-up when we had issues with the stonework on columns in our backyard. We had a warranty in our contract which he honored by immediately tearing down the stonework and re-doing the work from scratch. We had just had our first baby a month prior and it could have been a nightmare with a less ethical contractor to get the damaged stonework repaired. Horacio sent his team out and within a week it was all repaired. The redone stonework still looks beautiful. read more

We like to use this place because they are friendly to the homeowner that doesn't need tons of material. When we want to do a small project, it's hard to get smaller quantities of rock or mulch and this place seems like the best in the tri-valley to go to. After buying all materials we needed per their recommendation, later we found out that the price for same material was $800 lower at Voss store in Dublin!! Horacio, never returns calls and not a trustworthy contractor. Don't waste your time with them, do you research first and try to purchase the material yourself. read more

Horacio and his team are outstanding to work with. And they do quality work - and stand behind it 100%. They did our whole back yard from demolition to rebuild. From stamped concrete, over new lawn, moving the shed & play structure, a grass area and sprinkler system, a whole bunch of different plants including drip irrigation system, to a fountain / pond, raised vegetable beds, a trellis, backyard lighting, a Spanish wall, etc. - nothing was impossible and got done within budget and time. For a couple of weeks after completion Horacio would occasionally stop by to make sure all the new plants were doing fine, the fountain and lights worked ok, etc. Any time there was an issue he took care of it. Same for anything we asked to be changed. Me and my wife couldn't have a better experience w/ a landscaping company. read more

Horacio and his guys did an awesome job on our little backyard! We are getting ready to sell, and our backyard was just dirt; I didn't want to put too much money into it, but wanted it to look good. Horacio came up with a great, simple layout that didn't break the bank, and had it installed in two days! Do your research. Wish we did. We found out this company go sued for cracked concrete. Go to better business bureau and read the review. We don't understand why he invoices on one company name and you pay to another company name and maybe the lawsuit has something to do with it. My husband and I had issues as Horacio was NEVER at our job. The workers he has are very nice and do a good job, but Horacio is never around. He takes on too many jobs and just runs around handling emergencies. We stopped using him mid-way through our project, as there were too many issues. We ended up recording our conversations with him with our phones as there were too many inconsistencies with what was being done and what we were being told. And at the end our bill was wrong and he was very difficult to work with adjusting it to the correct amount. read more

As far as the materials they provide, I think they are top quality and reasonably priced. I don't know anywhere else I would want to go to get landscape materials, or to rent a concrete trailer. I had one of the most bizarre experiences dealing with this company. I purchased mulch from them on two separate occasions, the second of which I bought in bulk and had the product delivered to my home. I based the amount of mulch that I had delivered off of the recommendation of the employee that I spoke with over the phone and unfortunately they were misinformed of the conversions of yards to cubic feet and the information they gave me was incorrect which led to me purchasing only half of the amount that I actually needed. I contacted the company and explained the situation to them and asked that if I ordered more of their product if they would be willing to wave or discount the delivery fee since they gave me inaccurate information which led to me buying only half of the amount of mulch that I needed to have, and I did not think it was fair that I would need to pay for a second delivery. I was essentially met with a hard NO after the employee that I spoke with talked to her manager Kayla. Kayla then proceeded to get on the phone with me and did not even introduce herself by name or as the manager or even let me know that I was speaking to another individual. During the course of our conversation She did admit to me that I was given misinformation on the estimate from the employee but said that they have a lot of new employees working there and that was her excuse. She told me there was nothing they would do to discount another delivery for me to as they need to pay their drivers. When I told her I was displeased with her response and lack of concern for a customers dissatisfaction and that if there was nothing she was willing to do to help me that I would take my business elsewhere and I was going to leave a review describing my encounter with the company she told me that that was my right to do. She also proceeded to accuse me of being sexist because during the course of our conversation I asked to speak to her manager as I was unaware who I was talking to because again she never introduced herself when she got on the phone. She was very offended by that and told me that she was the manager and owner of the company and seemed to imply that I didn't think she could be because she was a woman, which was absolutely nowhere on my radar. I simply was confused as to who I was talking to because she never introduced herself by name or position until I asked to speak to the manager. I ended up taking my business to Cochran Landscape materials in Livermore and found them very professional and knowledgeable. I recommend you take your business elsewhere as I have never encountered a manager/owner with less concern for a customers satisfaction in my life. read more

Wow, can't believe the service difference between Tri Valley Landscape and the previous place I went to for years (which is much closer to my house in Livermore). Prices are good, but the reason I'll keep going to Tri Valley first from now on is the people... always friendly, courteous and willing to help. I even ordered a load of gravel the other day and the delivery driver beat me to my house! Knowing that he didn't want to be sitting around, I was thinking he'd be mad, but he was making jokes, talking about traffic and the good old days when everyone shot off good fireworks on the 4th of July. I also hired Horacio and his team to do some excavation at my house, removing my old lawn and chewing through the tree roots underneath it. They also did a little concrete work to widen my driveway. This was also a great experience. They hauled away several trailers full of dirt over a couple of days, easily worth the money I spent to save my time and back. They did the concrete right, tying it to the existing driveway and walkways using rebar dowels. Everything was clean when they were finished. I actually reached out to Horacio two days later to schedule a time to meet so I could pay him. I'm usually a DIY guy, so it's been a long time since I hired someone else to do work at my house. Whether buying materials myself or if I chose to hire Horacio and his crew again, I'll be back and would refer anyone else to do the same. read more

This place is right next to the Western Garden Nursery in Pleasanton. I wanted an assortment of stones and rocks for my Japanese garden. I walked around and found the ones I was looking for including the attractive "Calistoga" rocks. But I was very apprehensive of how this would work i.e. buying, choosing, delivery etc. since I am not a professional landscaper but just a homeowner with a design in mind. I walked to the office at the end of the open shop and was immediately helped by a nice friendly lady. I was surprised that she took me to every variety I was curious about and assured me about them being delivered. She was very patient and bought a red tape along so I could choose the huge rocks I wanted. A guy called Juan helped me choose and after that all I had to do is go and pay. The delivery was 50$. On the day of the delivery, they met me at my house and dumped the Lodi stones first and then, dumped the rocks over it. I got 1.5 yard of Lodi Stones, 11 bags of Mexican pebbles, 2 bags of cobblestones, 14 Calistoga rocks and 1 Calistoga boulder. What stood out of my experience is the help I got at the shop, very friendly and polite. My advice is to go directly to the office first, they have trays of all the small stone variety they have, its easier to choose from there. I will definitely recommend this place for any landscape material needs. read more
