We found Tri Valley Karate after my daughter decided she wanted to try martial arts. My daughter, who is 6, absolutely loves the kids class and attends the all ages class with me. The kids class is action packed and upbeat. Shes usually giggling and smiling the whole class. I love the level of instruction from Sensei Sanjit and Sensei John. They correct the techniques for both kids and parents during class in a very non chalant, matter of fact style. Before deciding on Tri Valley Karate we watched other classes where the kids just move around but dont actually practice any martial arts technique. This is not the case at Tri Valley Karate. I can see improvement each week in my daughters punches, kicks, understanding of Japanese, dojo etiquette, etc. Another aspect I like is that Sensei Sanjit really emphasizes parents practicing karate with their kids. He's invited my wife and I to attend classes on multiple occasions and yes, i'm hooked. The classes are great exercise, filled with laid back instruction and I love the time I get to spend with my daughter. During our kids formative years, every parent exposes their kids to different activities. We enrolled our daughter at Tri Valley Karate 4-5 years back with the objectives of some self defense skills and mental discipline. Am happy to say this was one of the best decisions we have made with results and outcomes exceeding our expectations. Our daughter has been learning and growing under Sensei Sanjit's guidance. I joined Tri-Valley Karate in 2019 when I couldn't speak English fluently as I just moved from Japan. I already had a black belt from a different branch of karate then, but Sensei was was very nice and considerate about my circumstance and I was able to learn a lot even with my broken English for the first year. Along with practicing various karate techniques, Sensei explains why and how to use certain moves in dojo or in real life as self-defense. Sensei always comes around and give feedback and advice to every students and help prepare them for the testings for belts. Occasionally, he provides additional practice sessions before competitions as well. I'm leaving for college this year, but this 5 years in dojo helped me develop not only my karate skills but also confidence, communication skill, and leadership. The community of Tri-Valley Karate is very friendly and welcoming, and I am really glad that I joined this dojo. I'm thankful for Sanjit Sensei for all the experience. read more

First of all, this is NOT a McDojo. At his dojo, Sanjit-san will make sure you work on your good form, conditioning, strength and more importantly style. Awesome class last night, great mix of karate basics, kicks, punches, drills and kata (forms). Definately got a good sweat going. I greatly enjoyed the diverse group of students! Many beginners, kids as well as adults! Everyone is friendly. You are just not part of a class here, but a karate 'family.' Sensei is an excellent instructor. Great knowledge, patience and energy! He continues to train and compete! He recently earned a gold medal at Nationals this past week! I am proud to be a part of this awesome karate 'family'. Last month I stopped by to observe the class briefly and was surprised by the quality of the dojo. One of the most traditional for sure. The Sensei was sharp and very good, you do not see a lot of instructors who keep up with their training, they only teach. His demonstration was fantastic. The students were proper and well mannered, very good martial arts program. When I return, I want to make it here. I loved their sparring, it was not the point sparring, I want to learn that!!
